Is it possible to switch GM1910 to European ROM without unlock or root? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi all,
sorry if this has been asked and answered (I did search first).
My daughter ordered a Oneplus 7 Pro from a European seller but it arrived with Chinese writing on the back.
A quick search of the text "GM1910" reveals it to be a Chinese model (see picture)
So our options are to try for refund or if possible, change the OS.
So my question is, is it possible to change the ROM to European (UK) without unlocking the bootloader or rooting (she uses apps that wont work rooted/unlocked)
Thanks, Steve.
(EDIT...)
Some additional questions...
* What ROM is it likely to have pre-installed?
* Will it have English already?
* Is it likely to be littered with Chinese apps?

I bought a GM1910 and it came with Oxygen OS, not with the Chinese version. Currently it's updated to 10.3.0.
Just open it and power it on.
I think these are sold in HK market so it comes preinstalled with OxygenOS

Hi xander, thanks for the heads up.
You were correct, it did have oxygen (v9.x) so I got the EU rom and did a "local upgrade"
For anyone reading this in future...
1. download the GM21BA EU ROM (V10.0.3 at time of writing)
2. copy it to "internal storage" area of phone
3. in phone, open settings > system > system updates > menu (gear icon) > local upgrade
easy peasy.
Cheers.

As long as the update is the same or higher then what you have on it now. Let's say your on the 10.0.3 gm21ba which is the 1913 then you can download the update gm21aa 10.3.0 for the 1917 and will succeed. I have the 1910 and done this quote a few times. I read the the 1910 is the only one that can be cross flashed but that I have not tested. Flashing didn't really change much in my opinion. Also you won't get any additional lte bands with just by flashing. If you do update and your stock and bootloader is not unlocked then you cannot downgrade unless you do get your bootloader unlocked

Discover model (verizon/international) by software?

Hello,
I'm thinking about buying an used Pixel, international version at my local market.
He doesn't have the box anymore, what I have is the screenshot below.
Is there a way to discover the version by these? Or by software? (I can ask for more info)

What are you asking? version of what? This image shows it is a bootloader unlocked Pixel running and Oreo preview build.

If it's international or Verizon.
How do you know that the bootloader is unlocked?
well i mean in the question you stated its international firstly, but i am 99% certain for it to be running OPR6 that has to be manually flashed which requires bootloader unlock. Cant say as to whether or not this is the international version but it is definitely the google play store version and not the verizon one.

Just asking sincerely, since I've never bothered opting in to the betas, but can't users with the Verizon locked version opt into the beta releases through the web - in which case they then receive an OTA to the beta, not manually flash?

hmm actually maybe but im not too sure, if thats the case then no you cant tell through this image per se but googling the baseband and build number may tell you what version it is too
if the OEM unlocking option is greyed out as shown in the screenshot then the phone is very probably from Verizon.

Update a not well-known 8.1 (treble) android Chinese smartphone to 9.0

Hey there!
My name is Thomas and I'm new to this forum. I have a cheap Chinese phone: the UMIDIGI One Pro. It's a really good smartphone provided with stock Android 8.1.
It's been a few weeks since Android 9 came out and I think it's a very good version. I currently use Pear Launcher and Power Shade to have a close interface (I'm a fan of Pie one).
I like hacking and I had a little fun yesterday by rooting my phone with Magisk and installing the God's favorite language with Termux (RUBY <3). Just looking at examples of what I could do with Termux I saw that I could see if my phone supported Treble, and contrary to what I thought ... it is!

I am a newbie so correct me if I say nonsense but I think it would allow me to update to android 9, right? I watched some tutorials but they use TWRP (and I have not found a version compatible with my phone because it is really little known and recent).
I am currently able to use:
- ADB & Fastboot
- Termux
- Magisk
- SP Flash Tools (I used it in order to install Magisk)
- The ROM folder downloaded from the website of my phone: [link blocked as I'm a new user]
But I'm not able to:
- Unlock bootloader (when I restart on fastboot and perform the command "fastboot oem unlock", it asks me to press volume up to confirm because it could void the warranty and then it says "unlock failed"
- Install TWRP (as I don't found any supported version)
Do you think I can update it to android 9? If yes, how?
Thank you very much for taking the time to read me. Sorry if my English is not very good (I'm french).
Thomas!
I found a compatible TWRP version here : [Link blocked because I don't have 10 posts]
So I installed it with SP Flash Tools. :good:
I also found a TWRP for the ONE PRO, but I have the ONE, you think it will work ?
And from what source did you get the boot.img to install Magisk ?
I have the One Pro it's the same phone except you have a bigger battery and I have wireless charging capabilities...... keep me posted because I might want to do the same

Miui 10 for mi4 chinese

Hi My Xiaomi MI4 recently has been showing notification of UPDATE available TO version MIUI 10. Should I update it ?
I've heard it doesn't change nothing at all. and beside it once you update to it, you can't downgrade to previously version.

It may slow down the phone. But it will also give new looks and better features. Also, there is always an option to downgrade if you can use your laptop and spend some time to install any custom rom. (Will also void the guarantee)
It's a good choice to update to MIUI 10.

I've tried the lastest version of MIUI for cancro(MIUI10 8.9.13) for nearly one year. Before Febuary, 2019, I tried the PixelExperience(based on Android 8.1) and its new features & mini size touched me(I can use my face to unlock by Google Smart Lock. And 16GB isn't enough nowadays). But finally I missed the convenient settings and stability of MIUI, and Android 6.0 can still running most of the apps.
Of course, I have deleted some useless system apps(for me) like Mi Video\Mi Game\Mi Browser. In this case, I installed MX Player and Via(also Google Webview Core). To make the ROM better, I also changed the theme(bar, lockscreen), fonts(changed to MiLanPro by an app[because Magisk doesn't work on this ROM]), launcher(with a good icon package) and wallpaper. It doesn't slow down the phone. Just try it!

Question Switch firmware versions // Remove China censorship

Hi everyone,
i'm currently living as an expat in China and will do so for the next two years.
I bought a Samsung Tab 7 FE here in China and would like to switch my firmware version to the international or european one to get rid of the censorship and not being able to install certain apps like Maps etc.
I've read through the recent rooting thread, unlocked my bootloader and got Odin and Frija downloaded.
What i can't find is the international firmware version of my device.
To make it clear:
Model Number: SM-T735C
CHC: CHC
Frija suggests this file:
SM-T735C_1_20211123165801_q8v4albsaf_fac.zip.enc4
But this will probably just update my firmware to the latest China firmware, right?
I also looked on sammobile but they seem to not know my device...
It should now be possible to do what i'm trying to do, can somebody give me some advice how to proceed?
Thanks in advance, have been waiting since June to get rid of this firmware
Did you ever figure this out? I'm in the same position now and was looking for an answer to this too.
The "C" means you have a special hardware variant for China, it will not work with non-Chinese firmware. Your only option is a custom ROM, and with Samsung's recent moves against those, good luck.
Hardwarewise it's exactly the same, just got the restrictions on the software side. Unfortunately i've not figured it out yet @citizenjack, currently i'm using it only for media where i works just fine. I think sooner or later someone will come up with a solution
you can try this

Can you explain why you think this could work @chsey1 ? I'm afraid i'd brick my device, not even the model is the same.

This won't work as it's the "C" variant and it won't accept this firmware.

Question Lenovo P11 TB-J606F Invalid serial number

Hello from Greece,
Yesterday i received my new tablet P11 (6gb/128gb) from a well know chinese e-shop (banggood)
And i have some questions.
The seller stated that model is not Global Rom, is third-party rom and support google play store and multi languages. It doesn't support Widevine L1 and ota update os.
but it came with the rom TB-J606F_S320029_210923_ROW (see picture bellow)

}
and after 5 minutes in the update section notifies me for a new version TB-J606F_S320158_220217_ROW.
After the update I login to my lenovo account and then I tried to register my device.
Questions:
1) When I put the serial number in the registration form it stated always "invalid serial number"... (see picture bellow)
2) How it recieve OTA update, is that an official rom against what they stated?
3) When I checked the DRM info app it stated that the current level is L1 (see picture below)
Thanks in advance
I guess the box says Xiaoxin Pad not Lenovo P11, if that's correct that's the version only sold in China and that's why your serial number is not recognised.
Your Widevine L1 means that your bootloader is locked, you can verify that doing a reboot to recovery, only official ROMs can be installed with bootloader locked.
In short you are not going to receive support because that tablet is not supposed to be sold outside China but since the hardware is the same as the one for global market (P11) and ROM installed is the proper Global you should receive normally OTA updates.
One thing you should check is if they properly set the region:
Check Region Unlock!! P11 [TB-J606F/L/N]
This method was shared by Koreans at the Ppomppu Forum. When Check Region Unlock is performed, firmware downgrade and update are free. Chinese ROM ZUI(12.6) check region introduce Global ROM 210805 check region introduce How To Guide (Check...
