Is there a way to get into an S8+ with a completely (black) broken screen? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I had a repair shop try to fix my broken glass and they managed to screen up the whole display. According to them the glass and screen are integrated and they tried a second screen in case their first was just defective and it didn't work. Ultimately they blamed something like the PMCI port/card???
Anyway, they replaced the phone with a new one. The old one still works as my smart watch is still paired to it and I get alerts etc from it. So internally it seems all good, but the screen itself is just toast. So I have what seems to be a good phone but with no display.
What cool things can I do with it?
Is there a way to "hack" into it without the screen? In other words side-load something using only the physical buttons? For example boot into recovery mode and then click down 3 times and then... yaddie yadda.
I'm just trying to figure out if this thing is totally a lost cause or if I can still use it for something.
P.S. if it's a lost cause, how does one destroy old phones that can't be hard reset in order to recycle it? It has a sealed battery so drilling it or smashing it like old phones isn't really an option anymore.

Cracked Screen on my Touch Pro

I dropped my touch pro and cracked the screen in a few places. I think it works normally except for the screen, as it receives calls fine...
A new phone isn't in my budget right now. Does anyone know of a good place (hopefully in DC, MD or VA) that will supply or install a replacement touch screen?
(btw, no recent threads came up when I searched.)
Ebay!
Just looked, $30 including postage for a screen & digitiser if you are able to do it yourself.
How hard is it to replace a screen if it has surface damage? Is there anywhere i could find a walkthrough or help?
Shame man, its a tragedy of what happened to your phone...
Luckily its not too bad, and you may just be able to fix it. You can download the service manual for the phone here: http://htcwinmobile.blogspot.com/2009/03/htc-raphaeltouch-pro-service-manual.html
Just a note though, make sure you DO USE tweezers or something to get the speaker wires out of the way before snapping the enclosure back into position... I had to reopen the phone again, after powering it, to rejoin one of the little wires thats like a tenth of a millimeter thick DO NOT IGNORE ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU IN THE MANUAL. Oh, and what works well for the "plastic removal tool" is a cut out piece of plastic ice cream container. AGIAN, do not ignore anything in there... You are voiding the warranty permanently when you do it yourself (which you unfortunately have to).
Anyways, good luck!
I drop my phone also, but the screen didn't actually cracked! but I do have is problems with the screen in other ways! Sometimes I get a black screen when I turn on the phone and sometimes not, but when the screen turns on, it flickers a lot and have lines thru it. What suprises me is that sometimes I get perfect images on the screen (Which makes me think that the screen it's not damaged).
Any suggestion would be apreciated. Thanks!
3 days and still no answer from anyone! I would like someone to throw me ligth on this issue. I'm waiting for this to know exactly what I need to buy, before I start assuming things.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the LCD connector may have come unseated. You could open up the phone and make sure all connectors are firmly seated if you feel confident in your abilities.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking on that also and wanted to take my chances opening the phone (oh god!).
BTW, I saw the $30 LCD Screen+Digitizer combo on ebay that Beeble referred to, but I'm not sure if it fits on the fuze (my model). What have come to my mind it's to buy also the front camera of the phone (like a thread on the kaiser) to mod the cell, in case I need to buy the screen+digitizer. I've search all threads about this issue but nobody has done it because it was too expensive for the result; I believe with this price it's worth it right now!
solved
Try this steps:

I used Diamod (!) LCD and Touch Pro digitiser. Works perfect.
Much more cheaper
If your screen works fine sometimes, you most likely don't need to replace it. there's probably just a loose connection somewhere. If you really want to replace it though, there's an ebay seller with a really good deal. $20 for the screen and digitizer already glued into a new front body piece: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-FUZE-LC...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3ef8817bf6 That one's for the fuze, but I think the seller has other models too. I'd definitely get the LCD and digitizer together or else you might end up like I did on my first attempt: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584050

WOW! What a long way to get to the screen. Good luck for everyone who tries to dismount and mount the Raphael.

Thanks for the advise maxh,
I just wanted to let you know that a miracle just happened! my cellphone started to work just fine without even opening the phone! it has more than a week on this situation so I believe that it's exactly what you stated (the LCD conector became unseated or loose). Since it's still working, I have no need to open it! so I'll just wait until it becomes defective again and at that point just open it and tight up the LCD connector!
Anyway, I would love if somebody could make the mod that I was refereing to before (changing the screen of the fuze by the touch pro one) and see if it's possible to attach the front camera on the fuze.
Once again, thanks everybody for your opinions.
I got my new display+ digitizer on Ebay (65$) and replaced it, using the russian link mentioned above ( follow the exact procedure) , it took me 2 hours to do it, and after lot of patience it worked! My problem was the digitizer never worked fine, and after replaced it it worked like never before. If You are not familiar with repairs, it will be a mistake and waste of money to buy a display without digitizer. NOW, I have a small problem, my display has a NEW color, it's like color temp is WARM for this display, and COLD for my old display, AND COLOR level is lower, and the result is display without vivid colors, black like gray. Is there any way to change the DISPLAY color settings?

[Q] Screen Issue

Hey All, Trying to help a coworker of mine. She dropped her phone the other day, and her screen now looks like this.
(PIC is in attachment)
Would something like this be the result of a damaged screen, or a contact that came loose in the phone. And would you even bother fixing this?
Thanks!
If the Device is Un-Rooted, and she has T.E.P. I would suggest taking it in to Sprint. It's the easiest way. That does look like a Hardware issue. It could be any of several things. I suppose you've already tried a Reboot ? If that didn't resolve it, and it's Un-Rooted take it into Sprint.
Sadly, no TEP.
Yeah, it's been rebooted many times. I took it apart even, to make sure all the connections looked good. Still got this issue.
You could try and find a cheap screen for it (amazon) and replace it

UGH . No T.E.P is not what you wanna hear. Unless your willing to take it all the way apart and replace the Digitizer assembly. The reason I say assembly, and not just the Screen is because of the way the sceen appears to be acting. It will be a safer bet to replace it as an assembly instead of just the LCD Screen. It will also be slightly easier. It is not an entirely difficult job. You just have to be very, very careful, and take your time. Wear latex Rubber Gloves, and work in as clean an environment as you can get. I like to work late at night when no one is awake. If you do decide to do it there are Videos I can link you to, or you can Google them. Your other option is to take it to a Cell Phone repair shop. Usually for a reputable place your looking at between $60 - $100 for a LCD / Digitizer replacement.

[Q] HTC One X - How to replace hardware keys

Hi,
I've got a question related to the HTC One X. More specifically, all of a sudden my soft keys (back, home, options) started not working. The thing is, I took a look over eBay, and a screen replacement doesn't seem to be that expensive.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure which I would need to buy. I saw there is a LCD screen and a screen digitizer. Which one would I need, or would I need both? I've seen that basically the bottom keys are all connected to a strip and I figure that if I change that that part of the phone, my problem should be solved.
Now, another question would be if I should do it alone, or should I take my phone to a specialist? Taking a look over some YouTube videos, I saw that it's not that complicated to replace the screen of the phone. However, I wouldn't want to start something that would end up messing my phone ever worse than before. I'm not completely retarded when it comes to electronics, but still, better to be on the safe side.
I'm just hoping that some of you guys did this before or has experience with this sort of stuff and can offer some tips.
Thanks a bunch.
You'll need to screen and the digitizer, trying to separate then without destroying either is virtually impossible. The best option if to have it done professionally, but that is also the more expensive option obviously. If you have the right tools and the capability you can do it yourself, but I wouldn't try it unless your confident.

[Q] Broken screen, fixable?

I somehow broke my Nexus 5 in my pocket today. The side buttons still work and it functions normally (gets messages, updates) but the touch screen doesn't work. I was researching possible solutions to fix it. I am wondering if anyone knows if my particular situation can be fixed. What kind of replacement package should i get if i can get one? I've seen ones with the LCD, digitizer for like 60 bucks which is much cheaper than an new phone! I think i uploaded a picture of my broken phone.
Cheers
I have a crack in my display almost exactly like that (roughly in the same place). It broke in my pocket as well (no cracks in the glass). I talked to Google support and it seems like they're willing to replace the phone at no charge but we'll see I guess (hopefully they don't receive the phone and decide it's not covered).

Dammm....busted screen!

After 5 months of use, I managed to break my screen....dam it! I've always been quite careful with my electronics, but managed to drop it today. And of course like a cat always lands on 4 legs, phones usually land face down.
Broke the top of the screen and the touch screen is rendered useless. Put an RMA in with Alcatel. I've read others on the internet have managed to get a claim in and Alcatel fixed it for a little better than $100. I would pay the $100, as opposed to buying a new phone.
Questions I have:
1. Since I can't get into my phone, is there any other way to get any data off of it? LCD is still visible, just can't get in.
2. Has anybody had a "positive" experience with getting a glass screen fixed on this phone yet? I've read a few breaks in the forum here, but it doesn't seem like too many have followed through with the repair experience.
3. Are, or is there any advice with regards to this phone and the broke screen?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Dang that sucks......so to get data you can plug it into a computer and the computer should let you pull all your info off. Also I can't help you with the getting the screen fixed as I never broke a screen on my phone.

Have you tried using an otg cable and wireless keyboard/mouse?
Yes , I tried using the OTG , but the lockscreen needs to be unlocked for the computer to communicate with both the internal and SD card storage areas. The back door is locked.
I submitted an RMA to Alcatel and am waiting for further instructions in a repair. Hopefully it won't set me back too much. If it does then I'll just pick up a used one through Swappa.
Thanks for the help.
Sent back to Alcatel. $105 to replace the busted digitizer and ship it back. Hopefully they didn't wipe my phone with a hard factory reset, I requested they not.
Should have it back Tuesday.
Just a follow up with the replacement of the digitizer. Alcatel sent the phone back to me yesterday and they wiped the hard drive with a factory reset, despite my request not to.
Phone works very well now though, I must say. Mostly all my data and apps loaded right in with ease, just lost some texts and a small folder of downloads and photos that were on the phone. Not all was lost.
Don't seem to have SD card issues any longer now, like I had before, which I find interesting. Must be the hard reset that had something to do with that, but my 3rd party launcher always used to struggle to load app icons properly, the SD card would some times not read properly? All that seems much smoother now however.
Cost me $105, oh well...time to get myself a better glass screen protector and case. I had an LK case w/ a kickstand and a peel off screen protector prior. I'll be stepping that up a notch now. One more break of this phone, I'm moving on to a different device.
Peace.
