Heyhey so I'm on the note 10+ Rogers Canada.. And I just got the android 10, one ui 2.0 update.
I was waiting for this as I loved the side gesture for thr back button alternative on the Oneplus 7 pro 10 update.
I am sad to say that I cannot see this option... The more options button is greyed out and the only option I have is the same as before... The bottom 3 gestures.
Am I missing something here?
Also hate the gap at the bottom of the keyboard
Yes, you missed the "Search" button.

Are you using a launcher? For whatever reason when using a 3rd party launcher those are not available. Once I switched over to UI launcher I was able to set them up. Depending on launcher you should be able to still set up the full screen gestures.

Have you tried (& succeeded) hiding the onscreen buttons and using gestures instead
I tried getting rid of the nav bar and used the pie controls, but it just feels weird , it's not instantaneous like the on screen buttons. I think gestures would be a better option, something like swipe left back, swipe right :multitasking swipe down:home
I know there's a "swipe back" mod on Xposed, but it doesn't work all that well, with a lot of apps it just sends to the homescreen and sometimes the previous screen becomes the "wallpaper" when I'm on the homescreen.
I tried too an app called "swipe home back" but it just some presets and I cannot set the way the gestures work
If you are rooted you can use LMT Launcher with Gestures and/or ISAS commands.

It won't replace Google Launcher. LMT is like a PIE advanced app.
i think u meed a diff phone for that. those soft buttons are a replacement for those phones without the 3 hard buttons.
I've had a Mate 10 before this, Mate 9 Pro before that and I don't recall this ability to swipe down anywhere on the screen to reveal a 'search' - which I'm led to believe is called 'global search'.
I actually find it really annoying when I'm trying to swipe down for notifications.
Can you switch this off? I've been looking and can't see!
I don't see this on my phone. However, a quick search suggests that this is part of the standard app drawer-less home screen. So either switch to the app drawer layout or run a different launcher. I use Nova Launcher, hence why I don't see this global search.
In KangVIP rom (P9, honor8) it is disabled by default.
Just moved over from Mate 10 to View 10 and I can't locate the lock screen icon that was on the Mate 10. As the fingerprint sensor on both doesn't lock the screen, I used the icon on Mate 10 but it doesn't appear on View 10 that I can locate. Anyone found it or using it? Thanks.
Why don't you simply tap the power button on the side to lock the screen?
I'd prefer to do it from screen like before, personal preference.

I don't think that the Honor View 10 has that feature. Maybe there is an App for that.
I've found it. Am using Nova so going back to EMUI and see it in the widget shortcuts (beneath TORCH), enabled in the EMUI and switched back to Nova then chose it but it doesn't work, saying "App isn't installed". Any thoughts?

This icon? I guess it only works in stock launcher
That's it. It definitely worked on the Mate 10 with Nova.
A workaround is to use the Gestures and Inputs of Nova and change the home button function to Screen lock. It seems to be working well so far. Touch once takes back to home screen, then when there, touch again from there locks screen, and it reopens with swiping fingerprint as normal.

Hi, I have a Samsung S10+ running Android 10 and One UI 2.5.
I am constantly getting an issue with Nova Launcher where if i clear my recent apps the screen refreshes and then One UI takes over and it goes to that home screen rather than Nova. If i then press the Home button again it then takes me back to Nova's home screen again and does stay there until i clear my recent apps again.
Nova is definitely set to the default launcher and when this happens i go into the Nova settings and it shows no launcher is set as default, i then set it as default but the same thing keeps happening each time.
I have tried clearing the cache from both Nova and One UI but this didn't fix anything.
Is this a know issue? It has happened for a while but wasn't that annoying but since a recent android update it seems to be happening all the time now.
Does anyone know if i can fix this?
Thanks
James

Yes , it's because since Android 10, the nav bar and recent UI are managed by your default launcher. That's really infuriating I know. But if you root your device with magisk, there is a module called QuickSwitch that allows you to set a third-party launcher as the nav bar UI provider.
Hope that helps
I've been using gesture navigations on my old P30 Pro and enabled it for the S22 Ultra. I've noticed that when navigation is set to "swipe from sides and bottom", it introduces special animations when minimizing apps/going back to the homescreen, that is different from the animations when using "swipe from bottom" gestures or when using navigation bar buttons. With "swipe from sides and bottom" selected, whenever I do the home gesture which is slide up from the bottom of the screen, it plays the return home/minimize app animation and I notice that I have to wait for the animation to finish before I could perform my next swipe gesture. For Nova, Apex, Microsoft and several other launchers that I've tested, I notice that I need to wait for the animation to finish before I could do another gesture like opening the app drawer by swiping up. This apparently happens to all launchers except for the default One UI launcher - where even if the animation is not yet finished, I can swipe up and open the app drawer. This delay does not happen to any launcher when using swipe form bottom gestures or navigation bar buttons. Is there a way to fix this?
Also, is there a way to use edge panel in landscape? On my old Huawei, their version of the edge panel works in any orientation. Basically, I just need a way to open apps in a popup window in landscape where I can choose which app i could open instead of opening the app first, and then choosing to open it in a popup window using the recent apps/task manager button.
I was thinking the same from a couple days, but too lazy to start a thread
With third part launchers, sometimes when I return to home, if I try to open an app or make some gesture, the phone open an app himself, casually...
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who noticed this nuance. TS explained everything what I had in mind for a loooooong time.
Is there any way to make 3rd party launcher "act like the default" when it comes to animations?
Note: I'm using Motorola Edge 30 Ultra so it doesn't matter whether it's a Samsung phone or not. Animations and gestures behave differently in any 3rd party launcher.
