[MOD] How to enable navigation bar on J7 2017 - Miscellaneous Android Development

Requirements:
. Root
. Android Pie
. File Explorer
. TWRP
WARNING: Neither me nor XDA is responsible for any issues that may happen on your device.
It is recommended to backup your rom
1. Go to the root tab of the file explorer and go to the vendor folder.
2. Inside the vendor> overlay> delete the following file: "framework-res__auto_generated_rro" (your device will reboot automatically, don't worry)
3. After the device turns on make sure the file is actually deleted. In that case, download the Navbar.zip file now, enter recovery mode and flash the file to TWRP and then turn on your device.
4. When you turn on your device, you may already notice the change, but if the navigation bar does not appear, go to settings> screen> navigation bar (you can use gestures if you wish)
ps: If you didn't like the change, you can go back to what you used to be with NavbarUninstaller.zip

[ROOT] [MOD] THL W9 - Rooting Guide - Official ROM customization, fixes, mods etc.

This is the first guide and the first rooting EVER for THL W9 based on MTK6589T chipset by MEDIATEK.
Also this will guide you to fully customize and apply fixes and mods to the official THL W9 ROM.
What you need:
a. PC or laptop in good working condition.
b. USB cable for THL W9 (micro usb) in perfect condition.
c. Some knowledge on ADB and Rom Customization.
d. Patience.
ATTENTION: THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND YOU PROCEED WITH YOUR OWN RISK.
THIS CAN PERMANENTLY DESTROY YOUR DEVICE. I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR LOSS OF DATA.
SECTION A - IF YOU HAVE THE INTERNATIONAL ROM AND WANT TO ROOT.
1. Turn W9 off , wait for the vibration. Take off the battery, wait 5 seconds and put it back.
Plug usb cable to pc and install usb drivers when asked. (You might need to plug-unplug multiple times to get the driver right) - Driver on MEDIATEK official site or elsewhere.
You might also need ADB working (not sure about this). follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272266
2. Download (from internet) and run eroot v1.3.4. Link: http://www.runamux.net/search/view/file/9fLmV0ty/ERoot-1014.html
Boot W9 to Android and enable USB Debugging. Run eroot (with admin privileges) and IF everything is ok you have to see Thl W9 recognized by eroot.
Click Root. You have to get 4 ticks. Unplug usb, close eroot.
3. Check root - install superuser - busybox.
You can follow this using adb commands: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272266
OR
Enable usb storage mode and copy to SD card the following APK files:
BusyBoxPro v9.9.
SuperSU v1.32
Root Explorer v3.1.1
Root Checker Pro v.1.2.8
You can find those on internet or xda forums. Install everything and run everything.
On root check pro you have to see green text when you press verify Root and BusyBox.
On root explorer you can access root and make it ro->rw (read only, read write).
ROOT IS DONE!
SECTION B - IF YOU HAVE THE OFFICIAL CHINESE ROM WITH NO GOOGLE APPS OR ACCIDENTLY INSTALL THE official CHINESE ROM AND WANT TO GO BACK.
1. Be sure that your rom is in good working condition with no errors.
Otherwise maybe is better to flash official rom again. Language only CN,EN.
Official ROM with flash tool here: http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/W9_20130702-FH16.rar
Source site: http://www.needrom.com/mobile/thl-w9/
If you have the international ROM and want to root, please go to section A.
2. PERFORM TASK 1 ON SECTION A.
3. DOWNLOAD SP FLASHTOOL OR BIRDA FLASH TOOL and official Rom THL W9. BirdA Flash tool included in rar file.
4. Select proper scatter file (specific for official chinese rom) and click download button on flash tool.
Turn Off and remove battery from W9. Wait 5 seconds and put back. Plug USB cable.
Flash tool should detect W9 and start to load... The process will end with a green circle small window. Unplug USB and turn W9 ON.
5. When boot go to settings and language & input. First option is language, switch to English. (Go with symbols because on first boot you got chinese)
6. Perform TASK 2 & 3 of Section A to ROOT W9.
7. Now you have to remove chinese apps. There is no specific way to do it, but the main idea is here:
a) uninstall everything you can from settings->apps.
b) disable everything you can from settings->apps->all. (Be careful to recognize what is chinese and not android's processes)
c) use Root app Delete application to remove unwanted chinese apps. (this is useful when attached to Android system) found on internet or xda forum.
8. Make it Google.
Extract apk files from gapps.zip. download here: http://goo.im/devs/UniqueDroid/gapps/gapps-4.2.1
I notice that google tts conflicting with existing. dont copy this.
Copy the files to your sd card,
Use Root Explorer installed on step 6, and move this apk files from sd card to root/system/app.
Restart. This will install all Google Files and you have to be able to google login, with google services etc.
9. Install extra apk files:
Playstore 4.3.11, maps7.0.0, googletts3.1, googlesearch 2.1.12.516912, youtube4.2.16 from APK files.
Download from internet or xda forums.
If you want to remove THL Stock lockscreen, you can use Holo Locker from play store.
If you ever had the error text to speech has stopped, then go to settings, language and input and under Text to speech select PICO TTS.

My Phone Is Bootlooping, Can i install any custom rom? Or Recovered stock Rom?

Hi,
I am A Karbonn Titenium S2(white) user.
My Hardwere keys stop working so i root my phone using Framaroot-1.9.1 .apk & Does As Describe Below in order to get a navigation bar (Soft keys) on screen.
1) open Es file explorer.
2) go to system & open "build.prob" with text editor.
3) & in the bottom of file i put this value qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 & save & exit.
4) shut down my phone & on again.
But after trying several times the Navigation bar did not appear. so I overwrite the "build.prob" file with a "build.prob" file from SD Card which i manually copy using Es file explorer before rooting my device. & Then I unchecked "Quick Boot " Option In settings & shut down my phone & try to turn it on again but since then my phone is not starting. Though the starting animation are playing at the moment i turn it on but freeze at the end of the starting animation.(Bootlooping)
I open boot loader by pressing Volume down + Power key together until the boot menu appear & Clear "eMMC" 3 times & reboot . but nothing happened.(I attached a pic of my Boot Menu)
Please Note :
1) Before or After Rooting My Device , I did not Install any "CWM" Recovery Soft.
2) Before Rooting, I did not enable "USB Debugging" & Now I can not enable it, because my device is not starting(Bootlooping).
Now My Question Is :
1) Is there any way i can get rid of the bootlooping problem & start my phone again? (If yes, Please Describe the process step by step)
2) I also have Downloaded a stock Rom for my device ( http://androidxda.com/download-karbonn-stock-rom-models ). So How to install this Rom? (Please note USB Debugging is not enable in my device & now i can not enable it)
Can Anybody help me out please?

[Guide] How to modify Stock ROM

Hello!
Today I show you How to modify your stock ROM.
In this guide I won't use PC or other software because I want to make this guide easy for all.
Important notes:
For this guide I'll use Samsung Galaxy J3 2016, but similar principles works on other devices.
What you need:
TWRP Recovery for your device.
Root Explorer
Rooted Android Device
And APKs(See later what I think)
Step 1:Activating OEM unlock
Don't skip this step because it's the most important.
Go to Settings and tap About Phone.
Tap 7 times on Build Number and activate Developer Settings.
Enter in Developer Settings and search for OEM UNLOCK, ignore warning and activate them.
If you don't have OEM unclock don't worry you can skip this step.
Step 2: Flashing TWRP Recovery via Odin(Samsung Phones only)
If you don't own Samsung device(or device which can be rooted via KingoRoot) you can skip this step because this step is important for rooting phone.
YOUR WARRANTY IS NOW VOID
Download TWRP recovery for your device and flashable .zip file of SuperSu v2.XX(determine which version is best for your phone).
Run Odin, when Odin starts go to Options tab and de-check Factory Reset Time and Auto Reboot,
then return to main section. And click on AP button and locate your twrp recovery .tar file and than press open. Now turn of your phone and enter in Download Mode hold Power Button + Volume Down Button + Home Button and connect to PC and click on start. When green message PASS apear in Odin you successfully flash recovery.
To restart phone hold power and volume buttons for some seconds or simply remove and return battery
Step 3: Rooting phone
Enter in Recovery Mode(for Samsung device hold power+volume up+home). Swipe slider to allow modification on system partition. Tap on install and find zip file from SuperSU flashable zip and swipe slider to install zip. Wait to installation complete and reboot phone (your phone can reboot some times to complete.
Installing Root Explorer and exploring system/app and system/app-priv
Install Root Explorer and grant Root access.
Now we explore system partition, but before we start in TWRP Recovery make a backup of System partition.
Enter in system/app directory and search for bloatware and other unuseful apps, but be careful what you delete!
Now download apks from apk mirror(clean apks) and place in system/app and when you finished with placing apk files reset phone to Factory Settings.
Tips:
If you have older Android version( <5.0 Lollipop)
download and install XPosed Framework and MonsterUI from Google Play to have Lollipop Notification Bar.
If you have Samsung device with Android Lollipop 5.1.1 or newer go to system/priv-app(or app-priv) and find SecSetupWizard folder delete them and Factory Reset your phone and Voila Setup Wizard is now AOSP.
For Samsung TouchWiz Lollipop ROMs or newer you can download Material Status bar to get AOSP like experience.
If you running Samsung TW Lollipop ROM and want to have AOSP Phone and Contacts app go to system/app-priv(or priv-app) search for SecContacts_L folder and delete them, insert Google Dialer apk(downloaded from apk mirror looks for MINAPI(I USE MINAPI21) and Google Contacts apk and Factory Reset Phone. Now you free from Samsung Phone and Contacts app.
Customizing Stock ROM is so funny and you can make a new ROM(not new but different ).
If I help you Hit thanks button :victory:
And if you have suggestion write in post(s).

[Guide] [Root] Samsung Galaxy a7 2018 (a750fn) Root Guide + Working Secure Folder & Samsung Health

How to Root Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 (a750fn) + Working Secure Folder & Samsung Health
Hello, this is a guide on how to root Samsung galaxy A7 2018 (a750fn). I've tried to simplify the guide as much as I can but I still suggest to root your phone only if you know what you are doing! Also if you have any questions or problems, just ask.
Note: Sorry for any grammatical or spelling mistakes. English is not my native language.
!Disclaimer!
- You do this at your own risk! I am NOT responsible for bricked devices, stuck on bootloop etc.!
- Backup your device before proceeding forward!
- This guide WILL trip Knox so your warranty will be void!
- The Knox-dependent applications like Secret Folder and Samsung Health will stop working but in this guide, there are two other miniguides that will explain how to enable them even after tripped Knox. - All of these steps have been tested on my phone - Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) (a750fn) where they worked without problems.
Required Software/Resources:
- Odin (for flashing) - Download
- Samsung USB Drivers - Download
- 7zip (for archives) - Download
- Firmware with the last security patch from 2020 (for me, the patch was from November 2020) - Download
- TWRP Recovery - Download
- Magisk (for root) - Download
- DM-VERITY, FORCED ENCRYPTION, AND DISC QUOTA DISABLER (Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt.zip) - Download
- A MicroSD card
Setup the Software/Resources:
1. Install 7zip
2. Install the Samsung USB Drivers
3. Extract Odin to a folder and put it on the Desktop
4. Extract the firmware to a folder and put it on the Desktop
In the firmware there'll be 5 files:
- BL_FIRMWAREVERSION
- AP_FIRMWAREVERSION
- CP_FIRMWAREVERSION
- CSC_OMC_OXM_FIRMWAREVERSION
- HOME_CSC_OMC_OXM_FIRMWAREVERSION (delete this one)
Delete the files starting with HOME_CSC.
5. Change the Magisk extension from .apk to .zip (Ex. Magisk_ver.apk --> Magisk_ver.zip)
6. Put the Magisk_ver.zip in the MicroSD card
7. Put the Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt.zip in the MicroSD card as well
8. Insert the MicroSD card in the phone
Steps to Root:
NOTE: BEFORE PROCEEDING FORWARD, BACKUP YOUR DEVICE!
1. Enable Developer Options (by clicking 7 times the build number of your phone)
2. Open Developer Options and find the option OEM Unlock
3. Enable OEM Unlock (this will factory reset the phone)
- After the factory reset the OEM Unlock option will be enabled and this will allow
flashing custom recoveries and etc. to the phone.
4. After the factory reset, when the phone boots up, turn it off
5. Connect the phone to you PC/Laptop via USB cable
6. While the phone is completely turned off, hold the buttons Volume UP + Volume DOWN until Download mode shows up
7. Press Volume UP again to confirm that you'll be modifying your device
8. On your PC/Laptop open Odin
9. On the left side in Odin there are 3 tabs: Log, Options and Pit
10. Open Options and remove the checkmark on the Auto Reboot option, then go back to Log
11. In the middle of the program there are 5 slots:
- BL (Bootloader)
- AP (Application Processor)
- CP (Modem)
- CSC (Consumer Software Customization)
- USERDATA
12. Click the first slot and navigate to the location where you extracted the firmware
- The start of the names of each firmware file corresponds to the names of the slots in Odin
13. Place each firmware file in the correct Odin slot that corresponds to their names
(Ex. BL_FIRMWAREVERSION is inside the BL slot)
14. With your phone connected, press the Start button to flash the firmware
- After the firmware has been flashed successfully, your phone will be downgraded to the last security patch from 2020 which fixes possible bootloops or other issues when rooting/disabling forced encryption.
- The firmware is successfully flashed when the top left bar is green and above says PASS!
After flashing the firmware DON'T boot in Android yet!
15. After flashing, hold the Volume DOWN + Power button for around 7 seconds, immediately when the screen goes black switch to holding Volume UP + Volume DOWN
- You will enter back in Download mode
16. In Odin, press the Reset button and again uncheck Auto Restart in Options
17. In the AP slot, select the TWRP Recovery (which is in .tar archive)
18. With your phone connected to your PC/Laptop in Download mode, press Start on Odin
- This will flash the custom recovery to the phone
19. You can now disconnect the phone from your PC/Laptop
Again, after flashing the recovery, do NOT boot into Android yet!
20. After flashing the custom recovery, hold the Volume DOWN + Power button for around 7 seconds, immediately when the screen goes black switch to holding Volume UP + Power button
- This will boot the phone into the custom recovery (TWRP in this case)
22. Inside TWRP Recovery, go to Wipe, select Format Data and type 'yes' to confirm
23. After the format, go to Install, select the MicroSD card and find where you've put the Magisk_ver.zip file, select it and install it
- This will root to the device!
24. After you have installed Magisk, go back to Install, select the MicroSD card and find where you've put Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt.zip and install it
- This will disable the forced encryption!
- If there's an error when installing the zip that says 'Failed to mount '/odm' (no such file or directory)", simply ignore it and proceed forward.
25. Go to Reboot, select System and wait around 5-10 minutes till Android fully loads
- After Android has loaded, proceed through the setup process.
26. Go to all apps and find the application called Magisk
- When you open it, it'll ask you to complete the installation of the Magisk app.
- It may also ask to reboot, to fully complete the installation.
27. After the application has been fully installed, your device will be Rooted and with disabled forced encryption!
Fix Secure Folder & Samsung Health
Note: TWRP Backup is recommended in case something fails
Samsung Health:
Required Software:
- A build.prop editor like this
Steps:
1. Install a build.prop editor from the play store
2. Give the build.prop editor root access
3. Open the editor and search for the line - ro.config.tima=1
4. Change the 1 to 0
(Ex. ro.config.tima=1 --> ro.config.tima=0)
5. Save and Reboot the device
6. After the reboot Samsung Health should work as expected
Secure Folder:
Required Software:
- Smali Patcher - Download
Steps:
2. Extract Smali Patcher.zip into a folder
3. Run as administrator
- Wait until it says 'idle..' at the bottom left of the program
4. Uncheck everything checked (like Mock locations, Mock providers, High volume warning etc.)
5. Check Samsung Knox
6. Enable USB Debugging on your phone
7. Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop
8. Press the ADB PATCH button
- A prompt will appear on your phone that asks if you allow your pc to do debugging mode operations on your phone.
9. Press allow on the prompt on your phone
- Wait until Smali Patcher is done.
- After Smali Patcher is done there should be a Magisk module inside it's folder.
10. Copy the Magisk module created by Smali Patcher to your phone
11. Open Magisk and go to Modules (the puzzle piece icon)
12. Tap on the button saying 'Install from storage'
13. Find the location where you've copied the module
14. Install the module
15. Restart your phone
16. If all done correctly, you should be able to set up and use Secure Folder
everything worked, thank you for the nice explanation and your help (A750F)
