How? to use 7 Slate PC Digitizer Pen Stylet????? - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Accessories

I bought my husband a Galaxy 10.1 tablet and a Slate 7 Digitizer Stylet.
I cannot get the stylet to work. Is there a trick?
Do I need an art program to use it in first?
Noob..... until someone helps me.
Thanks, ER

First of all, it's stylus, not "stylet". Secondly, I don't know what exact stylus you got, but if it's an active one with thin tip, that requires a special digitizer on the screen. Generally if a tabet doesn't already come with an active stylus, it doesn't have the digitizer either.

[Q] Capacitive Stylus

Hey!
I really hope that this haven´t been asked already...I haven´t found an answer yet. Tell me, is there any possibility to get a digitizer working on this touchpad? I do not have any knowledge about the technical requirements for these active pens...
Y dont you just get a ipad pen type of pen?

Do you mean a capacitive stylus? The screen is capacitive so only a capacitive stylus will work. Just check out ebay. Any stylus that works with an ipad, transformer, or iconia will work on the touchpad.
If you are thinking of something more like a Wacom tablet type 'active' digitizer, then no, they cannot work with a standard (capacitive only) device. They operate using a radio frequency system which has to be present both on the pen and on the tablet itself.
The bonus is improved accuracy and sensitivity for the device, the drawback being cost, a *screenless* wacom tablet using that technology is already a hundred dollars or more, and to combine it with a screen wacom charges a thousand dollars handily.
HTC has a compromise of a sort with the flyer tablet, but again thats a two part system, part of it is in the pen and part is engineered into the tablet itself.
Thats´what I meant (an active digitizer)...okay, thank you all for your help!!! In this case I have to find out, if such a capacitive pen runs well, but I´ve heard that the are not that good...
Thanks!

Extract Wacom driver from Galaxy Note and install the same in other Android tabs?

Dear developers,
This is my first post in xda and I apologize in advance if I posted this question in the wrong place.
I searched a lot in the internet to find a way to allow me to use the digitizer stylus (the same one available in Galaxy Note) on the screen of my galaxy tab 7 plus, but unfortunately with no luck.
The digitizer stylus is available in the market as a replacement of lost or damaged Galaxy Note stylus. Therefore, the stylus is not an issue. I really believe that the stylus should work on any capacitive touch screen of any android tablet if we succeed in extracting the Wacom driver, or software, from a Galaxy Note and install it to the tab.
I searched in Wacom website, but found drivers for windows and Mac only, nothing for android.
I also tried to locate the Wacom in Galaxy Note, with no success :'(
I hope anyone tried such thing and looking for someone to share the experience.
Thanks!

If the Galaxy Note is anything like the conventional Wacom tablets, the hardware is primarily in the phone/tablet itself and not in the pen. If this is the case, your idea will not work.
You can, however, buy many styluses (styli?) that support capacitive touchscreens.
This is actual Wacom technology
Hello, you cannot use the S-Pen on non-Wacom screens because the stylus is not capacitive, but electromagnetic.
Using your finger, try pressing an UI element (like a widget, or a ListView item) so that you successfully select it. While the item is selected, slowly move the stylus down towards the screen. When it will be 1 cm away (or less) from the screen, the item you selected with your finger will get unselected. It is because the electromagnetic stylus has priority over your (“capacitive”) finger.
The fact that the stylus priority thing occurs even though the screen is not pressed with it, is a proof that the usual Wacom electromagnetic magic is in use in the Note.

[Q] Stylus(s) are not working at all.

My original stylus died out, samsung sent me new tips and I tried those. That did not work, so I just went ahead and bought a new stylus all together and that IS NOT WORKING either, I even tried replacing the tips on the new one, to no avail. I can use my finger just fine and the note knows when I dock/undock the pen, it just is not reading any of the touches.
Any help would be incredibly appreciated.
EDIT: I have a screen protector on my note, I'm sure that won't effect anything, but throwing that extra information out just in case.
Thanks,
Chandler

It's a wacom technology so if the problem isn't the pen, it's probably the device itself. Try replacing it?

how about some more detals:
Model#
How long did you have it?
How long was the pen working for before it stopped?
Did you always have the screen protector on it?
Was it working before and after the screen protector...
Is it rooted?
Had you flashed any custom rom ?
Use Odin to flash back to the OFFICAL Rom and install CWM again (steps to root 10.1), then install Supersu
This will fix the issue that makes the stylus unusable through flashing some custom roms

Highly Dissapointed

I'm supposed to be thrilled by this tablet, in fact I still am (not with mine). A family member traveled to U.S and I ordered a White Note 10.1 and my auncle told me it didn't came with the S Pen which instantly put me in a sad mood all day. I can't find not even 1 site in my country that is selling the spen for the Note 10.1. The main reason I bought this tablet was because I wanted to have the S pen function.. I still does not have the tablet, mostly I'll be getting it tomorrow since they are arriving today, and tomorrow in my city.. I wanted to know just in case if The S Pen of the Galaxy notes 1 and 2 (phones) works good on the tablet? I'm not even excited anymore.. :crying:
I'm just hoping they didn't realize the S pen comes inside the tablet, even tho it's explained in an image in the back of the tablet..
thats very odd, did your uncle buy a 2nd hand tablet thats missing a pen? anyway im sure you can buy an S-pen on ebay, or buy the s-pen from international websites.
also i dont think the pen for note 1 and 2 will work.

Are you sure you bought the Galaxy Note 10.1? Because there's no Galaxy Note 10.1 being sold without the S-Pen. So in my point of view maybe you mistook and bought something like Galaxy Tab (2 or 10.1), such there's no S-Pen coming on those.
If you ordered a Galaxy Note 10.1 from amazon and you received a different one, you can challenge them to be refunded or to change it to the correct ordered product.
Also, FYI, the S-Pen won't work on Galaxy Tab series, it only works on Galaxy Note series because there's an active detection panel on the capacitive screen which locates the S-Pen indication/touch (If you bring the S-Pen closer than 3mm the panel locates the S-Pen approximation without touching it on the screen). And this panel is only present on Galaxy Note Series

Yes I ordered the Galaxy Note 10.1, I know the concept and all, he sent me a picture and it is the note.., but it seems the s pen is missing somehow didn't came in the tablet (maybe problem of furbished or idk), it's brand new, I'm about to receive it.. I hope everything is fine..
So.. I just receive the Galaxy note 10.1 and.. It has the Spen inside My auncle told me he had no idea it was there cause he actually open the box and putted right on the leather case backwards (wrong side) so he couldnt see the S pen lol. I love it! My only question is about the Spen, is normal to push it into the screen to actually use it? I feel its not like feeling the touch like my finger which is very smooth
Great to hear that you got the full package. enjoy!
"Push it into the screen"... did you mean you have to write hard? the tip the S Pen comes with (black tip) is a relatively soft one. if you want smoother feeling you can change to the white tip, which is harder. Personally I feel that the white one is too smooth...
Also, some screen protector make the S Pen black tip hard to use. I used to have an anti-glare screen protector on my note 10.1 and it doesn't feel good to write on with black tip.

Yeah sorry if u didnt understand, sometimes is hard for me to explain some things cause my main language is spanish
Well I feel like I have to push the spen hard in the screen for it to write which I dont really like lol I thougut its supposed to touch the screen and works just like your fingers.. and that kinda bothers me.. how can I change that you are saying. I did notice it came a few black and white sticks but I have no idea how that workx? Thank you
Im not ussing any screen protector..
Use the metal ring that came with tips to pull the black tip out. Theres a little hole where the tip is gripped. Now get a white tip and insert it with the metal ring. Just make sure you insert with the rounded end out....
Cheers....

Yes I just checked that, I don't really note much difference about the black one and the white one.. Is it normal that It doesn't recognize the sensitive when it's touching the screen and not pushing it?
The screen is pressure sensitive, like with a pen, the harder you press down the more "ink" is released and the thicker the line. Even using the finger can take a bit of pressure sometimes, especially when plugged into power...

(Q) Bamboo Stylus Feel For Galaxy Note Series

Good evening guys.
Today I received my Bamboo Stylus Feel specially for the Note Series in the mail today. 48 bucks including taxes, shipping. However I read the instructions carefully but I encountered an issue. The pen does not have that instant response compared to the S Pen. With the Bamboo stylus, I have to press much harder on the screen in order to get it to do something.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something? If this really the way the Bamboo stylus behaves? I would love the community's help on this regard because I am ready to return this pen. It has disapointed me.
Thanks.

I have one that I bought for the 10.1, and it works flawlessly for me. Never had a problem on my Note 2 either. Haven't tried it with my Note 4, though I would assume it works the same, unless it isn't updated to take advantage of the newer screen?

I could be wrong but you might need to recalibrate the stylus for the Note 4. Google can help or someone might be able to add details or correct me

Thank you guys for your responses. I will do some research in case i have to recalibrate the stylus. But like I said, it's very weird.. Because i have to press really hard on the screen to get it to do the desired action. If someone else has anything to add please contribute to this thread, otherwise I will report back here if I find any info on the Internet.

The product page for the Bamboo Stylus Feel for Note Series has the Note 4 as a tested and compatible device.
Have you contacted Wacom? (Or Bamboo or whoever... I forget who the company is right now)

I have this pen and use it with no issues.
I don't have that pen specifically, but I do have a couple of frequency-compatible Tablet PC pens.
There are three things I've noted when using them on the Note 4:
-The calibration is off, way off, and I can't just recalibrate it like I can a tablet PC or even the tablet-size Galaxy Note products.
-Tilt sensitivity works on the tablet PC pens. Good luck taking advantage of that with the amount of cursor shift you'll have, though.
-The first 20-25% of the pressure sensitivity curve, as measured in Clover Paint settings, is effectively wasted on the stock S-Pen. The pressure value just skips from zero right into that range, then ramps up like you'd expect. None of my Tablet PC pens do this; they start from 0% at initial activation force like you'd think they would.
That last point is probably why you have to bear down so hard with the Bamboo Stylus to get it to work like it's supposed to. Too bad Samsung doesn't just give us a proper settings panel like Wacom does on a proper computer.
I am getting my own pen in the mail soon as well
I hope that things will work well
I wonder if changing ROM's would help with the Bamboo pen performance.
