Did you have a service unlock for you? On new Samsung phones they are doing something called carrier relock where you can lock the phone to 64 different carriers but once you upgrade you lose it.

This can be remove the carrier relock?

Is there a way to tell if your phone is unlocked? I have the unlocked US version but when I upgraded to Android 10 it had a app for carrier lock briefly. When I clicked it, it did say it was locked and I thought it was a bug because I have the -1 version.

Do you need SIM Unlock on the T-Mobile in order to convert to the Intl version?

Or is there a way around the official sim/bootloader unlock process too?
AND/OR can you convert it to int'l and get int'l updates even if you can't unlock the bootloader?
Edit- 3rd poster says you can update to international version without Sim unlock, The link I have provided shows you how to unlock Sim
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...-unlock-sim-t-mobile-users-heres-how-t3935327
Then International version
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/how-to-convert-tmobile-op7-to-t3935947
Then bootloader unlock
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79741564&postcount=2
Then root
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79741570&postcount=4
I'm pretty sure that's the order I did it in... Definitely read through the threads I provided for the correct order as I'm on my mobile
Guy below me says you don't need Sim unlock to update to international version but I have not searched that process. I rushed a reply to help out. I was sure you had to have the T-Mobile version Sim unlocked to update to international version...I didn't read your question thouroghly...but again I'm on mobile and have had a few drinks.
Cheers!
No. The second poster is wrong. You can convert while SIM locked, but if you do so, you cannot unlock the bootloader or root the phone. You can, however, update the phone like normal and just get a generally less bloaty experience by converting.

Alright! So while the bootloader is still locked, this gives me int'l updates and eligibility for beta and no carrier apps, yes?

Correct. If you VPN into Canada (I used the TunnelBear app), you can even get the 9.5.9 update. Once the download starts, turn the VPN off to speed up the download.

Unlocked phone - flashing firmware. Will I lose/keep the unlock code?

Hi, I have a problem with my note 20 ultra and I would like to know precise info because is very important. I live in Italy, and I buy a note 20 ultra sm-n986u in the USA to get the snapdragon variant, which is much better of the version selled here in Europe. The phone was At&t locked, but the seller give me a code to unlock it to insert my italian sim. All is working well, except the fact that the phone never recieve updates due to the fact that I'm not in the USA. So I need to flash a new firmware with odin. So this is the problem:
1) Should I flash an n986u firmware (with At&t bloatware)? In this case I will lose my unlock code?
2) Can I flash a n986u1 firmware to de-brand the phone from At&t? In this case I will lose my unlock code?
3) If I lose my unlock code, will the same code work again?
I searched in theese forum an answer, but no one can give me a precise information, only hypothesis. I think it is a very difficoult argument, but it's very important to me. Can someone help me? Thanks.
Flash it with U1 firmware and it will do auto update. you won't lose the unlock.

So basically unlocked phones are brand phones (att, spring, verizon ecc) in which someone already insert the code? And it stays forever?

What is it about the T-Mobile firmware that you hate? IIRC the only difference is international enables dual sim

I just hate the boot logo, bloatware and I heard the international firmware runs alot smoother plus gets updates quicker
Are you asking if the bootloader would become re-locked, or if the SIM would become carrier locked? Are both currently unlocked?
Once you are carrier unlocked you are always carrier unlocked. But flashing international wont make you carrier unlocked. You have to have someone on the T-Mobile side do that for you.

So would the Amazon renewed oneplus 7 pro tmobile gsm unlocked be permanently carrier unlocked?
MSM tool will not relock the sim. The lock is in the efs. And this is not flashed by MSM.so you are good to go. But before flashing ,if you are scared it will lock, you can use qfil or edl.py with the firehose programmer elf .and make a backup of modemst1 and modemst2. With these 2 copyed in the unlocked state ,u will be ok. I have locked and unlocked the sim many times for testing by having backups of locked modemst1 and 2 and unlocked. U can go back and forth all u like.alway back these up ,they will only work for your device. With the same HW I'd.

That's not possible. VZW does not sell unlocked phones ever. You might have bought it at a retailer like Best Buy?
It's network locked. You cannot root the phone (as far as we know). You can try the steps in the S21 guide you linked.
VZW's unlock policy is 60 days after activation. You must be on the U firmware and be running the VZW CSC.
Thank you for your response.
Yes , i bought the VZW unlocked from best buy retailer .
Now , I already flashed , AIO CSC & tried XAA U1 couple of times ,Should i go back to , VZW CSC U firmware ?
Where is the restriction coming from ? bootloader ?
It is a old phone it must be more than 60days for sure .

Devices that you purchase from Verizon are locked for 60 days after purchase. Devices that you purchase from one of our authorized retailers are locked for 60 days after activation. After 60 days, we will automatically remove the lock unless the device is deemed stolen or purchased fraudulently. Following the 60 day lock period, we do not lock our phones at any time.

May i know , What are my options here ?
If i manage to put a VZW prepaid sim , will it get activated ?, and keep it for 60 it get unlock ?
Does that has to be new service VZW SIM , or i can borrow a friend SIM ?
I still don't understand where is the error coming from ? After 60Days will it have a OTA update to get it unlock ?
Its from knox itself. Any vzw sim should work
Thanks . i will try ship the phone to keep in VZW network in US .
BT W is there any way to bypass knox security (network lock check) or reimage knox and avoid the hassle .
also the same problem. Did you manage to solve it? only i have lg v50 thinq 5g

Possible to Downgrade From Android 11 to 10 on XT2113-2? If so, how?

I have a new XT2113-2 (TM) that is yet to be boot loader unlocked/rooted/etc. I don't want to do that until I am sure. I got this variant of the phone so I could unlock the bootloader, root, TWRP, etc and was afraid the "global" variant -3 might not work with USA 5G. The phone came with Android 11 installed (and has since auto-installed at least one security update). It shows the build as RZKS31.Q3-45-16-3-11 and the baseband ends with Kiev_TMO_CUST. I am using it on ATT (via Red Pocket) since TM service just sucks where I live. And I do get the 5G icon on it now.
But ideally, I want to get this to the original TM Android 10, which I think is shown here as the file XT2113-2_KIEV_TMO_10_QZKS30.Q4-40-95-6_subsidy-TMO_SPR_RSU_QCOM_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip as I hope it will undo some of the "security" crap Google has added to Android with each successive release.
So I need to be sure of the following:
1. Can I downgrade from 11 to 10?
2. Is there some reason to NOT use the firmware mentioned above? Should I use retail US (RETUS) instead? I am not sure the differences (it would be great if that would permit me to use this phone on Red Pocket Verizon but the IMEI now shows as incompatible on Verizon).
3. Must I unlock the boot loader to downgrade? I know I must to do other stuff and I have the unlock code on hand and ready to put it if needed. If I must unlock the boot loader to downgrade, will I have to re-unlock it afterwards? And, if so, will I have to go through the same process of getting a code or will the code I have now work?
4. How do I flash to do the downgrade? I have the Lenovo Rescue/Smart Assistant installed on my PC and was able to download the stock firmware (I assume it matches what is on there now) and stashed it aside. But is there some other tool needed?
5. Once I achieve downgrade, what is the best way to avoid having the thing auto-update to Android 11?
Thanks for your help with these questions.
If you are going to take this phone to AT&T, you will not get 5G if you unlock the bootloader. The NR band will be restricted. Downgrading from 11 to 10 generally doesn't work either.
I can't answer the rest of your questions.

Thanks for this response. I do have it on ATT (via Red Pocket) now and it does appear to get 5G now. I have not yet unlocked the bootloader, was thinking to do it, but considering that it would cause loss of 5G I think I will not and will just return the phone. Wow!

BTW - have you any references on this behavior? I am wondering if this is something that would affect ALL phones with unlocked boot loaders (like Pixel, OnePlus, etc). Thanks for the heads-up.
WARNING: ONLY DO THAT IF YOU ARE REALLY SURE AND DO BE CAREFULLY. I recommend you: do it not.
By downgrading to an older software, the bootloader in many cases can be destroyed, so your phone is completly bricked!
I write this from EXPERIENCE. My amazon fire is completed bricked, when i have flash a older SYSTEM. It can't turn on, no fastboot, no recovery!

I suspect, but don't know, that all phones with unlocked bootloaders are blocked from 5g from AT&T. I know my kiev (RETUS) is.

Thanks. Yet another reason to dislike ATT, I guess. Sadly, in my area TM coverage stinks. And this phone will not work on Verizon (unclear why but they reject the IMEI). And getting the Verizon variant will preclude ever rooting the thing. So I really feel trapped!

I always figured it was this
English Community-Lenovo Community
as my IMEI SV on the Metro/TMO variant is 05 rather than 07. Never tested with a locked bootloader though.

Bootloader unlocked Pixels work fine on ATT 5G, don't know about OnePlus.
