Note sure if this phone actually getting 5G or just a displaying bug for data connection. Got this phone right after Christmas from AT&T.
I know Plano/North Dallas TX area have 5G coverage up and running.
When I'm at my workplace area in Plano TX, my phone shows 5G data. Surprised me! Is this just a bug? I read that Galaxy Note 10 N970U do not have 5G support. Only the Note 10+ 5G specific model. (not Note 10 and Note 10+)
Is anyone seeing this on their Note 10 N970U?
Even though it shows 5G data, is it only running at 4G LTE?
If the phone is really using 5G, how do I turn it off and only use 4G LTE? I try to find in settings to turn it off, but cannot locate it.
Thanks for your help in advance :good:

Sorry, post this in the wrong section. Can someone help moved this to the Question thread. Thanks
Are you sure it is not displaying that 5Ge icon? That ICON, shown below, is to show that 4G LTE enhanced is active. Fake 5G.

You need a 5G phone and you have to be on special T unlimited plans that are more expensive then the generic unlimited plans to turn on true 5G. Plus of course it has to be in an area where 5G is deployed which are few and far between.
Yeah, that icon. So it's just Enhance 4G LTE.
Fake 5G. I completely agree. It's definitively Fake 5G cause speed test was slow, below 20 Mbps.
Lol
Are SMG979U and a SAMSUNG GALAXY S10 the same phone or two different Samsungs?

I thought I would be able to find the answer to this with a simple google search or by searching here but it's harder than I had anticipated.
Basically, I want to buy another tablet since I sold my other two a while back (LG G Slate piece of crap and the first Galaxy tab 10.1 both having 3g).
I still have a MBB plan with T-Mobile so I wanted to get a 3g/4g capable tablet and was looking into the Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000.
I just wanted to find a DIRECT answer to the question: does it work with T-Mobile 3g/4g?
I may have found some hints toward my question but I needed a direct answer from all you experts; I'm just that kind of guy =/
Thanks!
As soon as I can confirm i'll be ordering from amazon.
Confirmed. The N8000 can get T-mobile 3G and only 3G if you are in an area that has T-mobile's refarmed 1900 frequency. No 4G.

Ah...
So only in refarmed areas...
This sucks >_>.
I couldn't wait so I placed my order with 1 day shipping haha.

Can you please clarify your reply. Are you saying it will only get 3G in the T-Mob refarmed areas.
Can you also explain what a T-Mob refarmed area is? I may be moving to the US soon and was considering purchasing a N8000 before I go and this may have an impact on my purchase.
Thanks

Ok so, Verizon uses CDMA, and the only CDMA frequencies that would work are 2G, which is no bueno, so in that sense, I wouldn't really be able to use it on Verizon, BUT, the Nexus 5's LTE bands on the other hand are, some of them. Verizon's LTE uses the 700 and 1700 frequencies, which are both included in the Nexus 5.
So here's what I want to know, would I be able to use the Nexus 5 on Verizon, even if it'll only work in areas with LTE?
i searched google around for the similar problem and mostly they saying it wont be compatible and some sorts with their frequency and bands
Nexus 5 didn't compatible with Verizon at all.

The nexus 5 will register on the LTE network where certain markets have this band available for me Verizon does not (Hawaii). Only a certain handful of markets have this band. However Verizon won't allow the device to use the LTE network it will see it and recognize it but Verizon systems deny it.
Google and Verizon have a crippled relationship seeing the galaxy nexus slow updates and Verizon wanting to put bloatware on it and the nexus 7 LTE being denied when it first launched. I think Google wants no part in verizon.

I'm ok... The below is with 1. Optimum online WiFi, 2. On Verizon 4g LTE. In northern NJ with a Note 10+ 512GB 5G (but I'll have to wait some months to test the 5G unless I want to fly to Chicago or Arizona LOL!)...

I am on T-Mobile and the connection speed seems to be on par with S10e that I traded in. During the day, it is usually slower(from 50 to 80MB), but closer to night the speed is 3 times better

I'm on T-Mobile and the Note 10+ is almost exactly the same as the Note 8 and 1P6T, all just above or slightly below 80Mbps.
Has anyone been succesful in activating the Esim with T-Mobile USA?
I don't think it's possible with the P40 Pro right now. T-mobile USA says the ESIM should be set up as:
SM-DP+ Address: T-MOBILE.GDSB.NET
Activation code: [Blank]
Confirmation code: [Blank]
But the P40 Pro (at least my ELS-NX9) thinks it is invalid to leave the Activation Code blank. If you scan the QR it says invalid and it won't allow it to be left blank when entered manually.

Also worth noting that you have to use the eSIM on SIM Slot 2 which is not 5G? That I'm not 100% sure about, but it appears to be the case, which wouldn't matter much to me since T-mobile 5G isn't currently compatible with the P40 Pro ELS-NX9. Officially T-mobile only really support eSIMs on iPhones, however it's worked well on my Pixel 3 for about a year.
The second slot has 5G as eSim.

Thank you for the correction. I didn't realize the Default Data SIM is the one with 5G available.
The benefit is that T-Mobile is enabling 5G in Band N41, Band that your P40 fully supports.
Also, Does VoLTE works on Cricket or T-Mobile? Does the signal stays in 4GLTE or drops to 4G/3G during a call?
VoLTE works on T-mobile. VoLTE does not work on Cricket, the phone drops to 3G.
I haven't been able to get 5G SA to work on n41 with T-mobile. Supposedly you need to get a "R16" SIM or 5G SA will not work. If your SIM starts with TM 5G SA doesn't work. Unfortunately I asked them to send me a R16 SIM and they sent me another TM SIM... lol.
I'm looking at getting an 8T but my interest in flashing roms is too great. I've read through a few threads about roms not working on Verizon.
Is this still an issue? I need to have phone service (obviously). Would I be happy in being able to use various ROMS while maintaining Verizon service? 5g even?
Anyone could give insight?
5G doesn't work on any ROM with VZW even though the phone supports the 5G nsa Low bands. I've even tried forcing the phone into 5G via the programming menu. Verizon simply won't allow it for non certified phones. The phone tries over and over and eventually loses all service until you reset the radios.

Verizon 5G does work on this device, following this guide here. Source: My carrier is Verizon. But I as well have tried ROMs, and Verizon does not work on any I have tested. Quite disappointing.
EDIT: Verizon does work on the latest LineageOS and HavocOS versions.
