Installing stock ROM. - General Questions and Answers

Hello.
I've bricked my Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10F tablet and i want to backup to the original lollipop system. I have no computer at the while, only a android phone (Galaxy A5 2017). I've downloaded the lollipop rom from this site (
T2-A7-10F_S54_150801_ROW.rar) and copied the archive to ssd card on my A5, move the card to my tablet but when i enter to the recovery mode (called Android system recovery) i can't see the archive among all the files on my sd card.
PS.
What are those MTK USB Drivers and SP Flash Tool and TWRP? When are they needed kn contrast with just copying the rom archive to sd card and install by recovery mode as i've tried?
Thx. for help.

You need a PC or Laptop to flash TWRP and then use TWRP to flash the custom ROM the stock recovery will not allow custom just a factory reset.

It can't be flashed using another android device.
It can only be flashed using a PC.
If there is a stock recovery flashable 5.0 lollipop update.zip for your specific model number, you can download the update.zip to your internal storage or place it on an external scarf then boot into stock recovery and flash the update.zip in stock recovery. The firmware file that is made for flashing via PC will not work, it has to specifically be a flashable update.zip that was made to be flashed via recovery. Not all devices have update.zips that can be flashed via stock recovery so there may or may not be any available for your device.

[Q] Not sure where im @?

Hi I'm a little bit confused and lost between stock recovery, cwm, rom manager and my new SD card.
I browsed 100s of threads and watch alot of good and some not so good videos but 'im still not sure what my best next moves are and why some things dont work.
I have a
Sansung GT i9300
Anroid 4.1.2
Baseband I900XXEMC2
Kernel 3.0.31-1032335 [email protected]#1SMP PEEMPT Mon March11 ..KST 2013
Build JZO54K.I9300XXEMC2
I wanted to use apps like Titanium BackUpPro and Avast so I rooted my phone flashing CWM v3.55 via Odin and have been using it with out any problems for a while.
Then I decided that I would like to flash a custom rom like cm and I downloaded Rom Manager thinking it to be the right tool... ?
I let Rom Manager flash the latest version of CWM recovery 6.0.4.6 ...
but when I look on the apps on my phone I find CWM v3.55-Chainfire ? and
if I try to update I get directed to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
When booting in rcovery mode my phone enters the android system recovery e3 and I get an Error message:
E:faild to mount /data (invalid agrument)
What exactly does this mean ???
Should I try flashing CWM 6 non toutch via Odin or flash back stock ROM?
I thought I would try backing up to an ext SD card so I orderd a SanDisc mircosd 64GB card but the problem still remains.
I still cant back up my ROM using ROM Manager or CWM
Why ? What happend?
I tried formating the SD card with ROM Magager but SD card fails to load. I tried formating with gparted fat32. Still wont load...
The ext SD card shows up in the file exlporer on my phone just fine but
I can't seem to be able to get Rom Manager to recognize it and CWM recovery isn't working.
So instead of backin up my exsiting ROM to the SD card maybe it would be a better idea to install CWM and CM to the SD card
and keep my ROM on the internal SD as it is???
I tried creating a bootable ext sd card with CWM and CM like here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_acclaim
but when it comes to booting the phone in recovery mode I still get the E:faild to mount /data (invalid agrument) message....?
How do I boot from ext sd card?
Whats my next best move?
I have a working rooted ROM on my local SD card with all my apps backed up in clowd. But my recovery mode issue remains to be resolved.
and I have a 64GB ext SD card with CWM and CM on it but I can't install with Rom Manager? because SD card fails to load.
Thanks for trying to follow so far!!!!

First option:
1- Download Philz recovery from: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/philz_touch_6.07.9-i9300.tar.md5
and flash it with odin 3.07or newer
2- Downlad SuperSu root from: http://vk.com/doc167892454_171297436?hash=877f29ccdb4e944a70&dl=28aabb49a7217e1962, copy to your device, go to recovery mode and do 'install zip from...'
Second option:
1- Download CF-Auto Root from http://download.chainfire.eu/229/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip, extract and flash it with odin (that should enable root permissions in your device).
2- Download CWM Manager from PlayStore and do a flash, or better- flash the Philz recovery as above (you don't neet the root file)
Follow the Odin packages instructions...?

Yep, follow it,
And yes- both backup and exSD use (called sdCard0 in the recovery), here's the developer's thread & guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
Easy way to flash CWM or Touch wiz is to download EZ-Recovery from the play store, open the app scroll to recovery, click recovery and choose which one you want and click flash. Done. I personally like TW.

Install Kitkat without USB cable

Hi there !
I lost my USB cable for my Asus Transformer TF101 for months now, I only have a backup charging cable which does not allow me to connect it to my Laptop,
I'm wondering if there is any chance to install kitkat 4.4.2 without my computer ( like copying the file directly on my SD card) , and if there is a tutorial somewhere
Thanks in advance for your help =)
Cheers
If you already have TWRP recovery installed, just download it using your TF and copy it to your MicroSD Card / SDCard
Boot into recovery do all the required wipes and Flash it

Nop, and i'm pretty sure that i'll need the cable to root my device, don't I ?
I think some early builds of stock ICS and Honeycomb were able to be rooted from the tablet, transformerforums.com has some guides
Otherwise yep, grab a cable from ebay
You can root your tablet using Baidu Root. I can't post outside links so google "Baidu Root 2.3.7 English". The process is pretty straightforward. After rooting, download GooManager from play store and choose "install OpenRecovery script". This will install TWRP 2.3.2.3. You can then download the newest TWRP from sidneyk's thread, but there seems to be an issue with the 2.7.0.3 version, so go for 2.7.0.1. Did all of this a couple of days ago, never had to connect to a computer.

Finding a recovery, bootloader, rom & flashing without bootloader?

I purchased a tablet from Amazon a while ago: http://www.amazon.co.uk/NATPC-X210-10-1-16gb-Dual/dp/B00AKYZ6RI
Recently it's been playing up and currently the "Internal Storage" is not showing any size, this happened when the tablet's maximum internal storage amount was filled up with apps and stuff, on reboot it seemed to automatically factory reset but at the same time mess up the system partition, it can't install any apps and "factory resetting" it does nothing
NATPC have a firmware .img file available over at: http://www.natpcandroidtablet.com/forum/showthread.php?1604-Firmware-Update
However, the tablet doesn't have a bootloader so I can't flash it using fastboot...
It has a form of recovery that is just "Android System recovery <3e>" which has options to apply update via adb, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, apply update via external storage and apply update from tf card
It's an "Allwinner A20 (sun7i) SoC" using the "SDK: MID-A20-Android4.2-V2.0patch1" although on their forum for the X210 it has a thread: http://www.natpcandroidtablet.com/f...03-3G-Dongle-spport-list-for-Rockchip-Tablets which makes me a little confused.
Firstly, what is the device' true name... some say it's identical to some other tablets out there...
How can I install/flash the "x210 side power button.img" without a bootloader... I have no idea how to zip the image file correctly.
How can I get a bootloader?
Are there any custom roms for this tablet?
Are there any custom recoveries for this tablet?
Normally Allwinner tablet flash by using LiveSuit.

Need Help with CM 12.1 Flashing - ROM Move

Hello,
I was going to flash CM 12.1 into my Xperia L, but stupidly I forgot to copy the ROM into internal storage, it was on SD card, so I believe Cyno Recovery could not detect the necessary system files to flash from SD. Is there any way to move ROM (i.e. make the pc recognize &read the storage partitions) into internal storage without flashing the stock rom?
Also, if I would flash the stock from from SD, will the same problem happen again? So am I stuck?
Thanks in advance.

Flash TWRP/Philz touch and boot into it, mount your device and the PC will detect it, also, It shouldn't be a problem if its in the Ext SD card. You can get Philz Touch by flashing Thunderzap through fastboot

As @priyank.g mentioned, you can flash any boot image having a custom recovery. Pretty much all custom recoveries at this point support flashing from sdcard. If you can boot into any recovery at all, it should allow you to adb push it to your device. Just get an old thunderzap zip, extract the boot image and flash it through fastboot. Get into recovery using the volume keys and flash your rom.
Thank you both,
I have also tried Philz and TWRP, luckily TWRP had somewhat forced the flash into the phone after some tries while Philz and CWM had insisted on fail.
I can declare case is officially closed. :good:

Do i have to?

I have an Alcatel One Touch idol 3_50560 AT&T
I do not have access to a desktop computer is there any roms out there that will do everything for you at once i.e. Removing bootloader, Root phone, then installing TWRP . Is it even possible? I uploaded and put the whole system on my tab4, it had no OS when i got it. Just wondering if spmethings out there
It's not possible. You need to install twrp by PC, then you can do everything what you want via twrp.
Is it possible i can download the file to my tablet and sdcard and transfer to my PC when i get to work?
Yes, and you only need to install twrp via PC. Everything another you can just flash by twrp from sdcard (better option than internal storage)
