switch from P30 pro to Mate 30 pro 5G - Huawei Mate 30 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi everybody,
I'm thinking to trade in my p30 pro for the Mate 30 pro 5G.
Don't really care about the missing google features as it can be installed easily.
My only concern is the camera notch on the front. It seems significantly bigger than on the p30 pro.
Anyone here can make a comparison?
Thx

Really? I find it awesome. I often switch between my left and right hand, and this works for both. It does take a bit of getting used to, but I like it a lot.

To be honest with you guys, I'm still not sure if this would be a really step forward.
This bloody feeling in my head  > I need it, I need it < ??

Mix 2S vs Huwaei Mate 10 Pro

Hello to everyone. Any views on Mix 2S vs Mate 10 Pro?
I am having a hard time deciding between the two. On the one hand the Mate 10 Pro in "sexy" blue, with the official European support and service, the camera, the AI, the battery life, the IR, and the known quality. On the other hand Mix2S 6/128 which is unknown territory to me, bought from sometimes dodgy Chinese sites, non-official or difficult support, and questionable battery, but innovative and practical and also rather "sexy" in ceramic (please correct me if this the 6/128 is not ceramic), with the practicality of wireless charging. Price is roughly the same. Thanks
(PS. 1+6 is too apple-ish, so out of the equation. Perhaps the Smartisan R1 would be a strong contender having the best looks, but again hard to find and no idea about the support and build quality).
In my opinion you don't really need the support, if you buy it on tradingshenzen for example you can buy a 2-year insurance for 24€ covering nearly everything. The camera on the 2s is awesome but I don't know the mate 10 camera so I can't compare it. I get about 6-7h SOT so battery life is not bad. IR is a great feature and I miss it a bit but not very much. The build quality of the 2s is awesome it feels very very premium but it's a little bit heavy. Yes, the 128 version has a ceramic back and the sides are aluminum. There's a full ceramic version but that's only the 256gb version I think. If you have some questions feel free to ask
I have both and I actually prefer the Mix 2S. I've had many Xiaomi phones in the past, so I'm more partial to Xiaomi and MIUI, but I wanted to try the Mate 10 Pro. The 2S camera is right up there with the Mate 10 Pro. I like the fact that the Mate 10 is waterproof, AMOLED screen, and slightly better feel in the hand. I feel Xiaomi has more frequent updates, especially if you decide to try the dev ROM.

Sorry to be off topic, but is your device Chinese or Global version? I can't get GPay working on my Chinese one, always stuck on "contacting your bank" message.

Whats your standby drain like? Debating on a 2s vs waiting on a Zenfone 5z.
My s9+ is getting sold off once its paid off, battery life is inconsistent at best and it really annoys me. Former View 10 and Mate 10 were far far better.

LOL..... Spot on!
BTW the way I understand it, is that there won't be any waiting time on the phones sold through their recently opened European stores (at least it is not mentioned in the instructions).

Can you tell me something about the speaker and mic, compare to Mate 10 Pro? I think the Mate 10 Pro is about 10 times better than the Mix 2s

How does this compare to the Samsung note 10 plus?

Currently got a note 10 plus, but I’m finding it a bit to big & awkward to hold with one hand.
Can anyone who’s had both give me a brief comparison?.
How do the stereo speakers compare?
Battery life etc?
Thinking of trying either the 7 pro or 7t pro!?
It would be my first oneplus phone.
Cheers guys

Probably means width. Note 10 plus is a bit wider than the 7 Pro
They are nearly identical. https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/OnePlus-7-Pro,Samsung-Galaxy-Note-10+/phones/11168,11190
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the width of the note 10 & the more square-ish sides can make it awkward to hold.
The oneplus looks more rounded.

I moved from an s10+ to 7pro. It is a much heavier phone and prolonged one handed use can be quite uncomfortable. You won't be getting the kind of software features you find on a galaxy phone. Mostly D.I.Y., rooted obviously. Speakers are nowhere close to the AKG tuned speakers.
You're basically looking at a work in progress versus a much more refined product.
The Android 10 race is just that. I'm back on pie. Everything works without any surprises.

Only software is better on OnePlus 7 Pro...everything else is better on Note 10+...I have both now...OnePlus 7 Pro looks kind of heavy and also seems smaller because of the gradual curved edges..
The 7 pro weighs a ton. Seriously, in my pocket, my finger the way I hold it hurts after a while. Wait for the s11+ to come out in a month or so, and live with that for 3 years.
I had a 6T prior, almost wish I still had it at times. 7 Pro is Ok..

Poco X2 or Realme 6 pro ?[suggestion request]

Hey guys,
I have checked tons of youtube reviews and online reviews on the devices but for the first time in my life I am stuck and stumbled to take one of these phones. I had mostly used bigger smart phones since the android era, like Sony Z ultra, Mi max etc .
I need to get one of these phones immediately, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR HONEST opinion.
Select Poco X2 if you are interested into the camera dept. Realme 6 pro has a edgy upperhand in terms of the Performance and Battery Backup. I personally had the same battle as yours and went with the Poco X2. You can neglect the minute differences when you can get a Better Camera with the X2
✌?

[AMA] ZenFone 7 in my pocket ! Do you have any question ?

Hey !
Just received my regular zenfone 7.
Even if I won't keep it more than 7 days, I'll try it and will make a review on youtube (french language).
But, if you have any question for the phone, I'll try to answer you on Monday !
So, lets go !
How the battery life been in comparison to the zenfone 6? What kind of screen on time are you getting?
What carrier are you using it on?
Do you think it's worth upgrading to from the 6?
Sent from my ASUS_I01WDX using Tapatalk
How well does it work with Gcam? Are you able to access all 3 cameras?
Hows the photo quality on gcam compared to other phones( zp6 or other flagship)
Thanks in advance!
I'd really like to see some GCam samples too.

Battery life is a little bit disapointing considering I was most of the time on wifi. You can hope for around 5h+ of SOT. Not bad, but not 5000mah level. Zenfone 6 was better.
I'm on SFR (french carrier).
Stay with the 6.

Will test gcam this afternoon !
There's a LOT of GCam versions so perhaps try the ones compatible with the Zenfone 6? Link here https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-6-2019/themes/google-camera-mod-zenfone-6-t3965028
I'm curious if the flip module will work with GCam. If not, I'm sure GCam developers will make it work.

Wish I could understand Français! ? Thanks for doing the GCam. Photos look good, perhaps not amazing. Video looks great though, especially selfie! I see you have a OnePlus sticker in the background. I currently have a OnePlus 5 and GCam is great on it but my selfie cam is awful, the battery is starting to go bad after 3 years and the earpiece is breaking so I need an upgrade. I'm not a hardcore phone user, just want something with a near stock android, smooth performance, and to be able to take some good pictures easily (including selfies). I'm almost tempted to order the Zenfone now.... Or do you think the OP 8T could be a better option??

For the better price / Perf you can look at Oneplus 7(T) PRO or even Oneplus Nord
Lowlight video quality looks pretty bad from other samples I've seen. Do you have any to share? Also gcam lowlight videos?

I too have been a little underwhelmed with the battery life. Was expecting a lot out of 5000mah. I pretty much feel I'm getting the same as I did on the Xperia 1 ii, with that only have 4000mah. Certainly doesn't feel like I'm getting 25% extra anyways.
Though with that said, it's not bad and has improved I'd say.
I am currently using a Oneplus 7T Pro and planning on getting the Zenfone 7 Pro. My question is, will the Zenfone 7 Pro be a good upgrade over the OP 7T Pro?

Thank you for your inputs. :good:

Should i get the 8 Pro or 8T

I really wanted the 8 Pro when it came out but did NOT want to spend $900+ for a phone.
The only thing i really didnt like on the 8 pro is the slopped display but im gonna be running a case regardless so i dont think that will be that much of a problem with a case.
Then the 8T came out and i like everything about it except that it has a 1080p+ display instead of a 2k.
Now the 8 Pro is only $50 more then the T so which would you get?
FYI im comming from a pixel 2xl (and no i dont want the 4a or 5 they suck)

Most would probably go with 8 pro because of how premium it looks+high res screen+wireless charge+early roms and don't care for 65w charge. 8t users are probably people who hate curved edge screens that's my main reason and the 65w charge is fun to use since this is the first time it's been brought out in the US and the fastest ever so far. People are scared of battery damage but it doesn't really get as hot as I thought just a bit warm and looks similar to 33w warp charge temps on the 8 pro when I checked some tests on YouTube. Plus I don't use wireless charge and I'm not sure how noticeable the resolution difference is because I've been using 1080p forever and don't mind it. 120 hz from 60 hz is very noticeable though but that's on both of these phones anyway
For only 50 bucks more and if you don't plan to pay monthly for either, the 8 pro is looking like a pretty good deal though
I would go with the 8 Pro as well. It's got a larger, higher resolution display, wireless charging, and because it's updates are a lot more solid currently.

Go with 8t or wait for op9. It is rumoured to be launched in April.
Coming from someone who has had both, they are both very nice. I think they are pretty much on par with each other, I liked the pro but there really isnt anything im missing by getting an 8t. The photochrome was removed. I may be biased, i had the in2020 in America so i could not get 5g.

Mostly people are going to use the main camera and ultrawide only. And with gcam, they both work great.
I ordered the 8 pro 12 GB ram 256 gb
I never owned a pro myself but recently I read about it having some screen problems that the 8t doesn't. Is that true?
go with pro
I also was in this decision and after trying 3 8 pros in the shop all of them had display issues so I went with 12/256 8T and it's amazing

Compared to literally anything else other then Pixel (or apple) they are leaps better
I would of loved to go pixel. But the pixel 5 literally checks 0 boxes for me
I hate curved screens so that's why I went with 8t upgrading from 7pro
The downgrade on display really isn't even noticable
