What ROM setup do you guys use? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey peps!
Small and fast question. What ROM is your daily driver for this beautiful device, having a little difficult time picking and must admit a bit interested at the same time. ROM + modules/mods etc.
Have a great day.

Check my signature for mine. All links too if you wanna check anything out.

I saw your signature, and I see that you have a custom rom. Obviously then you're not concerned with OTA's, because your ROM gets frequent updates, no?
I have my OP7P rooted, and it runs awesome as stock. As a rooter of all previous phones, I naturally want to tweak the phone with a rom or kernel or something different. Or maybe not..
Are there kernels, by chance, that work with stock oos? Perhaps that might be an option for me and others to consider.
Thank you

Since I am using magisk ROMs, they usually work after an OTA (however you need the full update while rooted). As long as everything is prepared right, shouldn't be any issues unless a big jump in version numbers.

I assume there are plenty of kernels that will work on stock. Check out the ROMs and development section to find something that sounds good to you.

The only think that The update is good for is the source code.
just updated. now ill wait for some ROMs to finally start flashing.
Its been available, only people who will upgrade to it are on stock anyways.

If you ask me, not a chance.
basically upgrade if you're bored. its for folks who dont want to flash custom roms more or less. all the customized stuff the devs on here offer is way better than official 2.2
all in all not worth it. still havent found a lagfix yet but have figured out how to root/install cwm
now i wait for the first dev to create a rom i can test
I'm only curious if gps is actually better, but sounds like it's not. Shocking...

There's a whole thread full of posts from people who already upgraded. The title is secret, though, so you might have missed it. It has the words "Official Froyo" in it.

You might want to see this post. Supercurio, who developed SPeedMod, has injected Voodoo Lagfix into the Rogers Froyo Kernel, it will work for AT&T Froyo. I have better speeds and performance than on any custom ROM or SpeedMod. Try it out.

Have you tried getting into LBS test mode and resetting your GPS Data?

Then select delete GPS Data
Also, first locks on new software take longer the first time. If you do the above, it should help.

Didn't take longer when I flashed Cog or supernova.
I didn't flash KB1 but not surprised there are still issues. GPS data, servers and all that won't fix broken hardware.

Well, maybe just give it a try. It can't hurt.
I guess we're lucky in Canada, haven't seen anyone here with these GPS issues.
You guys act as if these custom roms are without bugs. I have flashed many of them and im back on stock because there is always something wrong. besides its not that hard to remove the bloatware yourself. My gps hasnt ever worked on any custom rom dont know if it will on knew one since it wont let me upgrade. problems with call logs showing incorrectly or problems with txt, bt crashes. I have no problems on stock at all, removed all att stuff and it is the way i want it, I dont even use the themes that come with em only a few i seen that i liked and had to buy seperately to make it complete.

Well put. Custom ROMs are basically skinned stock I9000/2.2 ROMs anyway, with bloatware stripped out, other functionality added, and custom kernels and modems.
The beauty of a stock ROM, rooted, with boatware removed(TiBu) and a voodoo injected kernel is better stability, functionality, and reliability. A lot of people here who use custom ROMs have never had access to a native 2.2 stock ROM, and thereby have nothing to compare it to, yet they are stating that custom ROMs are better than 2.2 stock, but how would they know? They've never tried it. Why not try it out? We already have a working 2.2 kernel with Voodoo Lagfix, and I can't say it enough: for me, better speeds, better reliability, faster performance, etc.
However, I'd like to see what happens when we can start making custom ROMs based on 2.2 rather than I9000 though. Non of this wishy washy kernel/modem compatibility etc. It will be better for everyone.

Full ROM isn't needed to make a rooted version of an update.
I've had a Nexus One and a Nexus S, they're quicker over there.

Amen to that, about the custom ROMs...You custom ROMers are just pushing us stock ROMers further away. The only custom ROM, aside from having this one tailored to us noobs with S-oFF, CWM, and root, that I want is CM7.
Enough pushing already! We know where to go if we want a ROM. Seriously, I dont understand this peer pressure BS? Is there money involved? WTF is it? Why do people here give a crap about whether or not someone has a custom ROM over stock?

I agree. And those people pushing us to use custom roms must think that they're cool just cause they're using custom roms. Funny, when you go to the custom rom threads that they're pushing us to use, they have tons of issues and problems too! A lot more than the stock rom ones. And yet they tell you to install custom roms when you post having issues with the stock one, like they don't already have their own. I myself use custom roms every once in a while, I admit. But for reliability on the gps, camera, MMS size etc., I always go back to my nandroid backup. Custom roms are just for aesthetics and not too reliable as some of these fanatics are claiming. Also, my nandroid sensation with bloat removed is just as fast or even faster than most of these custom rom ones. And more reliable.

[Q] How to choose a ROM?

This is what I call a "high class problem". With so many ROMs to choose from, how does a noob like me decide. Aside from stability, we all probably have different wants and needs.
Can anyone who's checked out the majority of the available ROMs give the rest of us a rundown on the pros and cons of each ROM?
For myself, I'm looking for:
1. Basic
2. Reversible
3. No known issues with wifi, sms, battery drain, ciq, marketplace, etc.
Which one should I pic?

its close. if i have time this weekend you will see something drop. i have a few more tweaks i want to do before i consider it ready. internally, im already up to beta8, lol. i hope to have beta10 release as an RC1 for everyone.
From what I seen so far I seen no reason to try them though somebody has to or they never get fully debugged.
Some of the ROMs are AT&T only ..... sorry got SGH-I727R
Some of them do have Rogers ROMs but I read of Sleep of Death and losing LTE connection..... sorry too buggy and I NEED LTE or I would of got the Galaxy Nexus.
Finally what I really want is ICS and NOT ICS themed ROMs
None of them are for me but I check everyday when a ICS ROM comes out I will try it.
Finally I recommend you NEVER try Roms if you are not sure that you can restore.
I have backuped my ROMs, Apps and Data, APNs I am 95% certain I can recover from anything.
For that other 5% I have Odin and the orginal Rogers ROM
Just to agree with everyone else, you've got to try them out. There's no harm in it as long as you've done your nandroid back up, you're pretty safe when it comes to reverting back to your previous ROM and settings.
Reading the features and change logs for each of them helps alot... but it still doesn't give you a full grasp of what it has to offer until you flash and test it.

Well, CyanogenMod was a custom OS\ROM\Whatever you'd like to call it, but it wasn't something that most phones shipped with. And it turned out to be the most preferred Custom Android ROM, with custom ROMS being based on CM.
I would close my eyes and buy a device if I knew it had official support for CM (LineageOS). I bet most people would.
Apart from issues with their management and rebranding to LineageOS, I don't see what's bad or "worse" with it. Just saying that "Worse" is a strong way to put it.
I do agree that some custom ROMS, no matter how stable have a few bugs\drawbacks occasionally, but so does the stock ROMS.
It is custom ROMS that use a lot of MODS which are generally more prone to stability issues. By mods, I'm referring to certain features like Bravia Engine\ Dolby Atmos ported from another device.
I cant comment on the EPIC ROM as I haven't tried it. But from what other users are saying here, it seems to be a pretty decent and stable ROM, despite having a few extra MODS.

xXx NoLimits or Havoc-OS? Why

Hello guys
I decided to root my device and if already I'm doing it I decided to have a custom ROM since I read people like it more than the oxygen OS.
Now I don't know which one to chose?
xXx NoLimits or Havoc-OS? And why?
I'd really appreciate it if you help to decide!
Thank you in advance!
is this Havoc-Oos rom based on stock?
No limits is not a rom itself. It's a powerful tweaking module for magisk with MANY options
I would suggest reading up on it before flashing that or anything in that case

No limits is good as is Renovate ICE. As far as custom ROMS go, crDroid and Resurrection Remix are the best with crDroid having slightly more options. The Devs are very active and are very good at squashing bugs quickly as well.

I'd certainly try ResurrectionRemix. I had the WiFi drop out issue on havoc and other custom roms, but RR is running perfectly! No issues battery life, as for me, its farsuperior to OOS (6hrs SOT vs up to 8hrs - though your usage, app installations may vary such battery consumption) and its full of settings/tweaks. Plus updates are super frequent, like every other day and the dev/maintainer is responsive to queries.
The only thing I've found is USB File transfer isn't currently working for me, but not a deal breaker by any means as I just reboot to twrp. Plus its working for others.
So yeah, give that a go I say!

Bliss is the rom with the most and best features of all android 10 custom roms for any device. And if you want customization on oos then you should use rice. xXx is just a placebo that doesn't actually do anything. Come on now... Increase Network speeds..... With a magisk module haha that's not even possible. And everything xXx does anyone else could do in their own without an automated script it's basically just all build.prop changes which is super easy to do by yourself with a text editor and you can debloat anything you want from the file system with a root file explorer. Flash bliss or rice is you're staying on oos. xXx literally does nothing it's just a placebo.

I approve this message. Bliss is overall the best Rom with the best battery but it doesn't have the most features because MSM Extended does and there is no debating. Bliss and PA are the most stable. Right now I'm Stock with Renovate Ice. I find no limit overrated because there really isn't much too gain as far as performance on stock and I actually enjoy debloating, side loading apps, and tweaking on my own.
***edited***
go for crDroid. You wont find anything as smooth and power efficient while having tons of customisation.
I think the take home message OP is to give them all a try and see what suits your needs.
You may want all the features that some custom roms offer, you may not experience any of the issues, or you may not need any features and encounter bugs.
I definitely enjoyed havoc, but the WiFi drop out issue was a deal breaker. That's non existent, for me, on RR and so I'm here to stay.
So just give them a whirl yourself and you'll find what's gonna work best for you ?

Haha and what msm builds are your referring too. Cause it doesn't have now features than bliss no other Android 10 custom rom does. I know this for a fact cause I've built every rom there is out and isn't out for this device. Msm is no comparison by a long shot.

I do my own builds which have fully working oos cam and several things bliss broke in their source no fp flicker and other stuff specific for this device. Just search bliss Guacamole on telegram and see for yourself.

Haha and what msm builds are your referring too. Cause it doesn't have now features than bliss no other Android 10 custom rom does. I know this for a fact cause I've built every rom there is out and isn't out for this device. Msm is no comparison by a long shot.

There is debating if you are telling a complete fallacy. Unless something drastic has happened in the month or so time since I've used Bliss my statement still stands. Evolution X and MSM trump Bliss in the feature department

No you're just wrong msm never had more features than bliss ever maybe you should actually flash them both. I've built both and still build Bliss. I built msm way before it was here on xda before anyone else did. MSM DOES NOT HAVE MORE FEATURES THAN BLISS! This is discussion is over.
