upcoming Android One mid-high smartphones? - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
does anyone has a mid-range / high-end Android One smartphone on his radar which is supposed to be released in the next, lets say, 3 months?
I was hoping for the Nokia 8.2 last week, but unfortunately they just announced the 2.3.
If anyone has a clue about some upcoming or even recent released (<2 months) smartphones, I'd be glad!
cheers,
Mehrsau

8.2 is said to launch at MWC 2020, which is within your time bracket. Might as well wait. Good luck ?

HTC HD2 on O2.........

Hi all,
Release date for the HD2 on O2 was yesterday, I have been trying my utmost to get hold of one of these. Does anyone know any insider information?
I seem to be getting different info from different O2 reps.
I WANT ONE NOW!
Nobody knows - but the best guess at the moment is next week at the earliest. O2 just can't seem to answer a straight question different representatives giving different answers. It could come out this afternoon but nobody knows
looks like its been delayed until november now

based on what?
Gonna phone them again. They are all saying its due this week but can't tell me when. They say only once it shows on the system can they price it etc.
Next rep has said they are conducting tests on it and it will be released on the 26th November. I am so bloody impatient!

i know it's terrible waiting! i am so DESPERATE for this phone lol
Getting around all the hype, I don't think the Palm Pre has been a fantastic seller for them and I think if the HD2 drops now it will leave them with a lot of unsold Pre's.... so they are holding it back for the that reason (pure guesswork on my part).

The HD2 was supposed to be "in the final stages of acceptance testing" last week.

How they expected the Pre to sell as well as their marketing implies that they expected it to, is a mystery to me - the Pre offers very little new or exciting, with the OS being the only real exception (and I've heard a wide range of opinions on the OS). The problem is, if they hold back the HD2, they're going to end up not selling many of those as most people who want one will have moved to a different network or got one unlocked (O2 is one of the worse networks now IMHO - presumably they spent all of their money on iPhone exclusivity and subsidisation rather than improving their network and offering good deals).
Why doesn't the BBC interview O2 about the HD2 instead of wasting time interviewing them about the Pre?
I agree

I think you might jus be right on that one my friend hopefully that wil teach them next time not be greedy and try to stock every handset under the sun
Yes, been pushed back to 3rd week November. However none of the reps I have spoken to are absolutely sure when it will be out, nor what the final pricing structure will be.
I am assuming they will definitely be out by December to catch the Xmas traffic.
WB
Lol,
they will be selling it on estonia at late october on early november.
T-mobile is also selling them on 6 Nov according to them. I guess O2 thinks they are special and people will wait for them
Keep an eye on this thread guys.
Ok, WHOS calling o2 everyday (Multiple times) like me?

How do you know? One of the early excuses for an ambiguous date was that O2 didn't want the HD2 to hurt Pre sales. However, there's clearly a lot more demand for the HD2 and a lot less demand for the Pre than they expected, so O2 might decide to fast-track the HD2.
Latest from o2;
I called customer services and spoke to a guy who said they will definitely be getting stock over the weekend and it will definitely be on sale on the 26th October. I have now spoken to quite a few o2 reps and none have sounded as positive as this one. He didn't even have to go and ask a supervisor/manager/buyer........
We shall see!

Thing is, they were originally planning to launch the HD2 on 12th October, so that blows your theory out of the water. See here:

and various other news reports.

Of course he didn't have to ask a supervisor. He was just telling you what you wanted to hear so he could get you off the line and move on to the next customer with a genuine need of assistance.
I'm not trying to be nasty, but there's no way the HD2 will be on sale from O2 on Monday, when none of the e-tailers are getting it until 11th November at the earliest. So for the next month or so, why don't you be patient, leave the poor call centre staff alone and get on with enjoying your life. It's only a phone.

Was he the same guy promising Tomtom Android coming very SOON 2 years ago?
"Summer season is important for us," expanded the TomTom man, who said he couldn't put and exact date on the launch.

Maybe he meant the end of summer of 2014???
I was one of the guy waiting for Tomtom Android patiently but I lose faith in them.
Could care less now.
good news
I was waiting for Tomtom, too. But then, end of May, I bought Navigon on their special sale. So I can wait. I'll give it a try, if the release really come true, maybe...
Meh, I waited and waited but TomTom never came. Now I've fallen in love with CoPilot.
we hope comes out soon and that is even with the maps in 3D

They know that the world ends to exist on December 21st 2012, so this was the last time that they had to release an announcement.
So, another dude, this time, a VP announced Tomtom for Android will be released this year, in October. LOL

I would take early 2014 to mean any time within the first 3 or so months! But it looks like Motorola will release it ahead of schedule according to this discussion.

Please use the search function before posting an already answered question.
Please use the Q&A thread for questions not the general.
Google is also a useful tool.
Answer:
The update documentation is already up on the support site, but a Moto rep. said it was released early by mistake, they are still in the last part of testing. It was promised to come in January so they still have more than 3 weeks to deliver in time.
I've just flashed it with 4.4.2 manually so it doesn't really matter. It's working perfectly.

Bye Bye Wear OS H

Letter from Huawei Support dating 26/02/2019
Sorry, there are no updates for this device.
We received this response from developers:
Watch 2 (Leo) has stopped updating since March 2018.
If you have any further questions, you are always welcome to contact us.
Huawei Support is constantly working to improve its customer support experience, and if you haven't done so already, we would be very grateful if you could dedicate a few moments to participate in a customer survey sent in a few days to your E-mail.
Your opinion is important to us!
Goodbye support
Very nice from Huawei!
Weird, Is it really happening? Since we got the lastest OTA with Oct 2018 security patch

Was wondering the same too. Got my watch in oct 18 and have received about 2-3 updates since then. Hope this is not true.
I bought mine on Jan. If this is true... Well, not more huawei products on my list. I didn't bought the GT because I wanted a smartwatch with 4G. If I would wanted a dumb fitness tracker I had bought a Garmin.
I think that's a response that has been taken out of context... After all that is a very vague response "there are no updates"...
I reckon the question asked was by an impatient young person who loves updating their phones and watches and probably asked Huawei support if they have any news or update on the new Wear H OS update... And they simply replied... Sorry there is no update.
That does not mean there is not going to be any future updates for this watch. It just means that a support staff member has no news on any software information!
Strange there have been no recent updates though? Have Huawei given up on WearOS in the hope customer will buy the non WearOS GT watch?
