December update now Magisk modules won't work - Google Pixel 3a Questions & Answers

I have a 3a with an unlocked bootloader. No twrp. Running Android 10 and Magisk with 5 modules
December update comes out. I didn't install my update the correct way and ended up having to to a factory reset. No big deal but once I fastboot flash my Magisk patched image and try to install my favorite modules...it won't boot. Just sits there with the G And the line spinning underneath.
Example: Clean install, load apps, wifi, install Magisk Manager, fastboot flash Magisk, reboot and flash the zip that swaps my back button over to the right side, restart and it won't complete the boot process. I end up having to factory reset again.
I even tried to install exposed so I could just try and do the things I want through that and it won't boot, once I flash it. I am frustrated and about to just go back to xiaomi or OnePlus but I have really enjoyed this phone.
Can anyone help me? Did the new update kill some of Magisk mods? Or am I missing something?

Magisk modules are working just fine for me on the December patch. Edxposed included.
Sent from my Google Pixel 3a XL using XDA Labs

The issue is the button swapping and it been reported and Tulsadiver has updated his modules for December.

The pull request you mean the canary repo yafha one?
I did the process and EdXposed app shows is up and running but none of my modules work (xinsta, unclutter ig, x screen stabilizer, exi for SwiftKey)
Any ideas ?
Edit : got it working, looked at the guide to get edxposed posted on the 3a guides section, using a specific yafha version for this device

[Magisk] I flashed EdXposed Yahfa version over Sandhook. Now stuck on boot logo.

I had successfully flashed Riru Core module and EdXposed Sandhook through Magisk yesterday. Everything was working fine, safetynet and all that stuff. However, Flat Style Bar Indicator wasn't working perfectly for me. I read that the Yahfa version might help with it, so I installed it without uninstalling Sandhook version first.
But now the phone gets stuck on boot logo indefinitely. I forcibly entered the Fastboot mode and went to TWRP recovery using my laptop. I uninstalled Magisk and reinstalled it. Device booted fine now.
Next, I flashed Riru module only and rebooted. It did reboot.
Next, I installed EdXposed Yahfa. Rebooted but stuck on boot logo again. Uninstalled Magisk and repeated the process with Sandhook. Same result again.
I uninstalled EdXposed using the official zip and tried reinstalling. Still no luck. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I really want to use Exi and Xposed Edge. Please someone help me with this.

I get that. But the problem is, I am unable to make it work AT ALL. I am getting stuck at Boot logo if EdXposed zip has been flashed through Magisk.

Just make sure follow steps after "xposed" once you get it to boot (wipe, restore, whatever)

I just meant if ultimately you were unsuccessful in getting it to boot properly as last resort... I assumed you cold get it back to stock rooted- sorry if I was unclear
Anyone else running EdXposed and gravityBox on 9.5.8 and passing safetynet? which version of Edxposed are you running? sandhook or yahfa?
I made a thread to show how to remove magisk modules due to bootloops, check in the guide section.

OnePlus 7 Pro OS Reinstall

I upgraded to Android 10 using a guide from someone who successfully kept root when upgrading from Android Pie to 10. I followed the steps exactly, but I still lost root. I'm using the latest version of TWRP Guacamole for the OnePlus 7 Pro. I fully understand that it's not fully compatible with my phone so I'm wanting to roll back to Pie. My phone currently does not have an OS on it because another guide I followed said to flash TWRP as the boot in the bootloader in order to reboot into TWRP to then reflash the OTA and then TWRP. I did this because TWRP would not mount my storage and therefore could not install or flash anything because it couldn't access storage. That didn't work. So now when I boot normally or into TWRP, it only boots into the bootloader. I need help fixing this because now I'm out of a very nice phone.

Just a few things before you flash. Don't worry about losing root, it's better to uninstall Magisk before upgrading, updates you can flash without uninstalling Magisk, although I wouldn't recommend it. I'm coming from the 5T, and it's basically the same process. The only difference is that I have a device with A/B partitions now

Ya. It worked perfectly as long as I flashed Riru - Core, rebooted, then flashed Riru - Edxposed, rebooted. Then installed the Edxposed apk. Flashing both Riru -Core and Riru - Edxposed back-to-back before rebooting put my OnePlus 7 Pro into a bootloop. I had to boot into TWRP and flash a "Magisk in TWRP" module and then in the terminal type "mm for first time" hit enter, and type "c" which put takingmy phone in Core Only Mode. This disabled the modules it out of the bootloop. But then after it reboots, attempt to uninstall the modules, which won't fully work. So basically you'd just have to flash the magisk uninstaller and flash the magisk installer to get rid of the bad modules. Moral of the story is don't flash both Riru - Core and Riru -Edxposed without rebooting between each install. Also, don't just flash the magisk uninstaller and flash the magisk installer to get rid of the bad modules and then not later flash the "Magisk in TWRP" module and disable Core Only Mode. Or just turn it off in Magisk Manager. Modules will install, but they won't work. And they won't uninstall either.

Anyone tried this on dp3?
I just clean flashed dp3 and downloaded the latest magisk to test. Nothing but bootloops here.
Anyone care to upload their patched boot?
Update: works fine after all. Redownloaded .apk and made sure to select the canary channel in the app settings.

Update: SDK Platform-Tools: r30.0.0
It roots dp4 but after flashing module it unroots but the module is still active and reflashin boot.img wont reroot at that point
edit: Clean flashing DP4 5 times. lollolol. Each time i would have to copy the stock boot over to the phone an let magisk patch it then copy it back over to pc to flash. I could not use the previous patchedboot.img for whatever reason. And if i factory reset it wouldnt work period. The only module im flashing was busybox. but either way this time after clean flash i went to magisk settings changed the name of magisk package an turned on magisk hide. When restarting after busybox install I still had root. SO step in right direction for now

Android 11 Beta 1 (Jun 2020)

Hi guys,
I hvae flashed Android 11 Beta 1 on my Pixel 4 (not XL, i am posting here as we have more activity) , below what i have tried so far and sucessfully worked
to download
https://developer.android.com/preview/download
* Face unlock did not worked at the begining as it told me to delete the old face data first, so i hade to factory rest the phone from settings at the first launch then it worked perfectly
* the issue with Face unlock caused by Android DP4, is gone
* i have successfully rooted through Magisk Canary update, uploaded Magisk manager canary APK, once you install it make sure to change the update channel to canary and then update to the latest version
* Enable Soli worked perfectly with Magisk with v1.2, uploaded
i have no issues at all with this release, and very stable and fast.
hope you enjoying as i do, happy flashing

Never mind. I got it fixed. I had to delete the old VPN first. Then I reapplied the Google Fi VPN and it worked. I never had to do that before so that's sort of interesting. I hope this helps someone but hopefully no one has to deal with it at all.
my CTS profile passes, even without Magisk...though I installed cleanslate kernel which is AWESOME even without root.

Yes, root method was done exactly as all prior releases.
I disabled all the Magisk modules, rebooted and ran flash-nowipe. My phone got suck at the "G" logo. After restarting it would only go to Fastboot. I tried going back to the Jun release and that failed too.
Now I am doing a factory reset with flash-all and have lost my data. I have a back up of the apps via TiBu and Google drive.
What I thought was going to be a quick up, is now going to take some time to restore!
Seems like some of us are having issues with moving to the July patch. YMMV.
What version of root? 20.4 stable?

Bummer... Did you reboot after disabling the modules ? I always follow to the T from Homeboys guide. There is an OTA method, but I am familiar with
i got it working. i used the canary magisk build to patch my boot image the flashed to both slots, then during first boot i went into safe mode by holding the vol down once the Google animation stats (not when you see G, just the animate and hold til full boot). then while in safe mode i used adb shell and magisk --remove-modules commands.

This seems to be an issue with Edxposed manager not being able to access modules.list. This was fixed in Magisk 20406. I'm on Magisk 20.400.
I tried the canary release of Magisk manager and module, but that didn't help.
