Is it possible to flash China SM-N9700 (CHC) with Hong Kong (TGY) / Taiwan (BRI) ROM? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

One relative bought me a Samsung Note 10 from China. It's a very beautiful phone. However, it doesn't have Google Play Store, worst of all, the default search engine and location service is Baidu.
It seems the Chinese version of Note 10 has same Model number and specs to the ones for Hong Kong and Taiwan, so I tried flash the TGY and BRI firmware with Odin, but both failed when flashing "system.img.ext". Thanks for goodness, I was able to revive the phone with Odin by flashing it back with CHC chinese firmware.
Did I missed some important steps? Or is it possible to flash China SM-N9700 (CHC) with Hong Kong (TGY) / Taiwan (BRI) ROM?
Any advise is appreciated!
Thanks

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaahoooo!
Figured it our myself. It worked !!!!
The Chinese version of Samsung SM-N9700 is actually identical to Hong Kong / Taiwan version.
Here are the tips to rebrand it to Taiwan or Hong Kong version.
1. Download the official firmware of N9700 for Taiwan or Hong Kong (must be higher or same version of your device)
2. Boot into download mode
3. Use Odin to refresh, there are two CSC files in the firmware package, make sure to use the CSC_* file, DO NOT use the HOME_CSC* file it will cause failure on system.img.ext4 flash. Using the simple CSC_ file will wipe everything off your phone and put the phone back to the true factory state, make sure you backup your stuff if you want to keep anything on the device.
4. Enjoy the beautiful Note 10 with Google Play Store installed ))
!!! Warning, do not flash if you don't understand what I am talking about above!!!

Do you know if it's possible to install Android 10 beta on it ? Thanks
I have a n9700 HK me too

I don't think there is Android 10 BETA for N9700 model yet.
Personally I have no interest to test the BETA even if it become available.

Guess that your Chinese version is equipped with 5G. How does the change in firmware affect this? Is 5G still available after flashing?

No idea, there won't be 5G coverage in my city for at least a couple of years, by that time, the Note 10 will be definitely retired.

OK. Thanks. Trust that HK firmware won't have 5G.

SM-G9200 Chinese version trying to flash Hong Kong version firmware unsuccessfully...

I received a Samsung galaxy s6 as present, but unfortunately it is from China. I am in Australia and would love to have Google Play store and apps etc. I've done a bit of reading and apparently I should be able to flash the Hong Kong version using Odin which will give me play store (apparently because of the region issues I can't flash Australian firmware?). I've followed the instructions and downloaded the Hong Kong version of firmware to flash but I keep getting stuck at "Nand write start fail"
Is this process ever actually going to succeed?
What am I doing wrong? Or should I just throw the phone out because I can't actually flash the Hong Kong firmware successfully?
Please help!!
This approach is wrong
China's G9200 can't flash firmware in Hong Kong
But G9250 is possible
so does that mean that i can't flash the hong kong version at all?

I successfully flash my SM-G9550 Hong Kong to the open China version, so here's the steps:
#1- you have to remove FRP lock first on the S8+
#2 Put it on download mode [press Bixby + volume down + power buttons al together for few seconds]
#3 Flash the Chinese firmware with ODIN 3.13
I can't post links on the forums yet cause I'm new guy here but I'll be glad to share Odin + Firmware links!

SM-N9860 improvements

Hi guys,
I've got the brand new SM-N9860 (Note 20 Ultra 5G) that is TGY/TGY, TGY. This is Hongkong version of the firmware. It lacks two features I used to - native call recording and network speed indicator at the top. I've migrated to CHC (Open China) version and got both
Also CHC version looks much cleaner - you can uninstall all that China software and it has no Google software as sell (no Google Play etc.).
How to do it (no root required, Knox is intact etc., but phone will be factory reset):
1. You need to downgrade from lates TGY to July BRI (yes, BRI) version of the firmware (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nge-csc-sm-n9860-ds-n20u-5g-hongkong-t4163363)
2. After BRI is installed and up, download the latest CHC (I used Frija - https://github.com/SlackingVeteran/frija, use "CHC" for CSC field)
3. Using ODIN (3.14.4), write the firmware (here some tips - https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...to/ath3-official-stock-fw-updateodin-t4143909), use CSC_... for CSC (not HOME)
Now I have the call recording and network speed indicator out of the box
Tested some sensitive apps: Android Auto - works fine (checked with a car). Google Pay - works fine.

Wait a minute....
Are you suggesting to...
A) Move from Latest TGY ROM (in my case ATJ1) to July BRI firmware ATGM.... right?
B) Now when July BRI (Taiwanese) Firmware is Flashed and phone is running. You are suggesting to download latest CHC (Open China) firmware and flash ONLY CSC (OF CHINESE FIRMWARE CHC) and not the rest of 2 files AP & CP??
Does a CSC of other region work with AP Firmware of another region if the phone model remains same (SM-N9860)??
Will it unlock native call recording and other features?
Will it update in future as well?
If it updates then will the CSC be updated aswell? And it remains CHC or revert back to BRI?
Please guide us through.
I am asking this because I already did migrate to CHC firmware two weeks ago and I didn't had to goto July BRI. I was at August TGY firmware and I simply flashed the CHC firmware and got Native call recording and that network indicator too but then there was heaps of bloatware and all Firmware actually was for Chinese people with everything in chines, samsung member, no Netflix, no samsung pass, many thing in Chinese, country name of phone numbers in Chinese, difference in phone number formats and many more. It was so irritating so I switched back to TGY.
Please tell us of you have some different experience or work around. I need my phone to keep updating as well.

A - correct
B - no, you need to flash all the components (BL, AP etc.). I had "TGY/TGY, TGY", now I have "CHC/CHC, CHC/TGY"
You can't update CSC only (ODIN will show the error and will not proceed)
With CHC you have all the OTA features. I'm sure that after the update you'll keep CHC.
Actually, the only drawback of the CHC I've noticed to date - "Yellow pages" tab and country name in the Phone app (but I prefer True Phone, so it doesn't matter). All the bloatware can be uninstalled (moreother - TGY installs Google apps, that I don't use like Photo etc.), keyboard should be switched to Swiftkey or Samsung. I've downloaded Netflix apk (from 4pda) and it works well. I see no single reason to switch back to TGY or BRI.
The only item to be checked left is Android Auto in a car (it could be a stumbling block).
If you like TGY, you can try the following trick - write CHC (it has OZL CSC - N9860OZL1ATI3), after that use SamKEY to change CSC to TGY (it should work with OZL, and doesn't work with OZS), after that use ODIN to write TGY (except CSC), and after that - revert back CSC from TGY to CHC using SamKEY. I haven't tried it, just an idea.

I'm sure it has been mentioned time and time again that the Snapdragon models of the N20U doesn't have esim activated by default. Only Samsung can activate it. They did not do it on the S20 Snapdragon series and I don't think they will on the N20.

I searched on numerous thread, but didnt find any information in regards to HK version, and i do need info for this specific model.
////////
All Galaxy S20 phones (S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra) have the required hardware built-in.
But in a few regions, and in a few carrier models, the eSIM support was disabled. For this reason, we did not include eSIM support as a top 5 new features of Galaxy S20.
So, Galaxy S20 is eSIM-capable. But it may be disabled in the firmware by a few distributors or carriers."

BRI, TGY, CHC do not support Esim as none of the snapdragon versions has esim activated, thanks to Samsung.
Confirming - no eSim support on TGY, BRI (October update) and CHC (September update)
Just to add,the HK models are dual physical sim not eSim. Folks chasing something that doesn't exist lol.

Hello to everyone,
I have followed Andriy_ 's procedure and now I am experimenting the good and the bad of CHC ROM. The only very annoying problems I am getting are with Google Maps continuously crashing after getting the right GPS position, Google Pay not working at the end of the certification of a credit card and one of my 3 bank's accounts apps saying that it is not compatible with my phone (Safety Net Check fails ("Basic integrity" and "CTS Profile Match")). Everything was obviously working like a charm with original (Hong Kong) rom. I think that there is no solution, maybe Google does not certify chinese ROMs....Any help?

You don't need to do step 1. You can flash directly to a CHC room. That's what I did before.

Yes, because this specific room is not google certified, a requirement to use secured google services. This is one of the reasons that made me go back to TGY/BRI. Also it doesn't have the Samsung Pass and you can't get rid of the Chinese yellowpage service in the phone app (unless you use 3rd party phone app as the default).

its a Exynos chipset, you should be able to flash any euro firmware on it
You say that is safe to flash FW for G970F ?
I assume still ODIN is the way to go
Thanks
SK Telekom? Are you sure it's not the Korean Variant SM-G970N?
SK Telekom is a Korean Cellular Operator.
In any case you can flash any firmware you want as long as it's made for your model (SM-G97XX) however in order to change the CSC you might need to root the phone and use the CSC Change Tool because flashing firmware does not guarantee change of CSC.

Switch from sm-n9860 taiwan to hong kong

Hi, I have a sm-n9860 with the taiwan samsung pay and I want to switch to the Hong Kong sw version (both are sm-n9860) as I travel there often and I'd like to add the public transportation card on my phone.
How can I do that? Will a clean install work?
Thanks
Should do as both stock ROMs are for SM-N9860 variant.
So is the stock Chinese ROM compatible with this variant (I'm using it - I switched from Taiwan stock ROM) ).
Make sure you backup all your data to an external memory first, then clean flash the HK stock ROM via ODIN.
