help needed in flashing los

hello,I want to flash LOS 14.1 for 6X.But my friend has adviced me to stay away from custom.ROMs for 6X as he bricked his 6X while flashing LOS.Also ,he wasmt able to restore the TWRP backup.Can anyone guide me correctly for installing LOS 14.1 on 6X?
Custom ROMs have some bugs, but this is a little bit exagerated If the steps mentioned in ROM OP are followed with caution, the risk to brick is almost unexisting. And overall, the fact of being unable to recover the TWRP backup is weird
Anyway, in LineageOS 14 thread you'll find a guide to flashing the ROM step by step, in first post obviously. Check that!

Just follow the steps. It's almost sure you won't brick your phone if the instructions are followed correctly.

No problem. And be sure that, when you're using a device in other way than it was meant to be used, you'll eventually lose data.

yes i succeed, i recommend rooting with magisk and twrp, find your stock image somewhere on web it will be very helpful if anything goes wrong, at first you need to unlock your bootloader if you have motorola or htc you can follow this link https://www.howtogeek.com/239798/how-to-unlock-your-android-phones-bootloader-the-official-way/
or if you don't have motorola or htc you can follow this link https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/unlock-bootloader-your-pixel-4-0211344/. After you unlocked bootloader i recommend following this link to install custom recovery https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/ and after you successfully install custom recovery and backup with twrp you can follow this link https://thebroodle.com/android/how-to-root-android-11-devices/ and if that safetynet does not pass after you follow that guide you can do this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/magisk-module-universal-safetynet-fix-1-1-0.4217823/

Maybe you need to flash vbmeta.img before first boot. Or try another GSI (verify using Treble Info app to know which variant you need)

but whats about bootloop after kernel flashing? and magisk too
I've checked, and I can say that the bootloop occurs after flashing TWRP_3.6.2 and disabling_vbmeta_R.

You need to flash the patched kernel;
1. Run multidisabler in TWRP terminal
2. Factory reset via TWRP
3. Reboot to recovery
4. ADB Push the kernel or use the sd card and flash it.
5. Boom, you can boot now.
