No problem. And be sure that, when you're using a device in other way than it was meant to be used, you'll eventually lose data.

yes i succeed, i recommend rooting with magisk and twrp, find your stock image somewhere on web it will be very helpful if anything goes wrong, at first you need to unlock your bootloader if you have motorola or htc you can follow this link https://www.howtogeek.com/239798/how-to-unlock-your-android-phones-bootloader-the-official-way/
or if you don't have motorola or htc you can follow this link https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/unlock-bootloader-your-pixel-4-0211344/. After you unlocked bootloader i recommend following this link to install custom recovery https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/ and after you successfully install custom recovery and backup with twrp you can follow this link https://thebroodle.com/android/how-to-root-android-11-devices/ and if that safetynet does not pass after you follow that guide you can do this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/magisk-module-universal-safetynet-fix-1-1-0.4217823/

Bootloader must be unlocked to install custom kernel with CWM... (no pont of CWM on locked bootloader, just can't do it)
Then you may proceed with flashing stuff....

I got the same error when I tried also
download the stock boot img and put it in the phone storage
go to magisk and click install
chose the second option and select the boot img you put on the phone.
it will create a patched boot img
go to bootloader and fastboot flash the patched boot img to boot
you will have root

I can't find any instructions on how to install this Custom ROM I have found instructions for other ROM's that say you have to use Blue Star twrp, is there any reason for having to use this? and can anyone else give full instructions on how to install CarbonROM and what you need for it? Is it the same for all OnePlus 6 custom ROM's?
Why not ask in their thread? Easiest. Answer is that it's the same as all custom roms. Make sure you have oos on both slots

Thank you, are you talking about if I don't have a TWRP cause I already have one installed, also wondering why I need the Blu Star TWRP instead of the other one? Also, if I want to put OxygenOS on both A and B partitions does the blu star recovery still remain?

Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
3. Reboot
4. Install Magisk Manager

External SD should be fine
I flashed magisk-boot.img and all worked.
Now i wanted to unroot and stupid me, not thinking about what i am doing, i unrooted through magisk manager.
So i'm stuck in a boot loop.
Flashing the stock-boot.img in fastboot mode now got me to fastboot not recognizing my phone anymore.
When i check "fastboot devices" it returns "???????????? fastboot".
Flash mode still allows me to flash another boot.img with "fastboot flash boot stock-boot.img" but that doesn't fix the bootloop.
Any ideas?

Oh you are right, I should have just follow TWRP instllation guide as there is fastboot method (so far I just used patched image + Magisk installer...) but before I figured that out, I flashed fastboot stock ROM, at least I had a chance to switch to f2fs which I wanted to do in a while but I was to lazy to do full wipe
