Pixel visual core service stops working on pixel 2 XL - General Questions and Answers

about 3 days ago i updated to the december security patch, and after that update i think the pixel visual core has stopped working on third party apps like instagram and snapchat. I saw a guy complaint the same on twitter. i tried uninstalling the pixel visual core then reinstalling it and rebooting the device. it worked fine but then suddenly again it stopped working. How can this issue be resolved?

please use the search function on www or xda. again , as i just posted moments ago for someone else ; i found the solution in about 1-2 minutes. good luck

I'm sorry what do I have search for exactly to find the solution??

use key words like your title (thats what i used anyway). "pixel visual core services stops working on pixel 2 XL" either on www or the pixel 2XL forum here on xda (if you go to the "all devices" forum you'll be able to find the thread for your device).
also maybe downgrade from the update you took until you can find an answer.
just read there is an update for it in the playstore. so that might help also.

Same here, Visual core has stopped working after this latest update and Social Media Images have lost quality, couldn't find a solution either.
Please help

Only works while charging
One thing I've noticed is that the processing on the social media apps are only being done while charging the device.
Try it yourself, close the application from the task manager, then plug in your device and then open instagram or snapchat.
I am currently in touch with a google support executive for this issue, will post here if it gets resolved.

[Q] HTC Watch - Unable to download the license error

Hi all -
I receive an error when trying to watch a rented movie using the HTC Watch feature on my AT&T One X.
I'm able to purchase and download the movie completely, then after pressing play and agreeing to start my rental period, I get an error Unable to download the license. I found someone with a similar problem posted a video of the error on YouTube (I can't post the link, but the clip is titled VID_20120412_113030.mp4).
I called HTC and all they suggested was deleting my account and re-registering. This didn't correct the problem.
One final point - my phone is rooted and I didn't try to play a movie before rooting...so perhaps that is the problem? I could try to unroot, but I really don't want to see that 3 dot menu again!
Any thoughts/ideas as to how or why this is happening? Would rooting the phone cause this problem? It's disappointing because there are some decent bargains on HTC Watch.
Thanks in advance!
I have the same problem on mine, did you get a fix?
Same problem, no fix!
I had the same problem. Interestingly, the app (HTC Watch) worked a few times, before I started getting the dreaded "Unable to Download License" message. After exhaustive phone conversations with HTC, I was still unable to solve the problem. I tried the following to rectify: (1) I deleted all data and cache. (2) I opened a new account under a different email address. (3) I factory-reset my phone. NOTHING WORKED!
Finally, I was so frustrated that I exchanged my phone for another at the T-Mobile store (with a new SIM as well). The app worked! However, after a couple of weeks, the very same problem occurred and has remained until this day. I'm pulling my hair out!
If anybody at all has any idea how to fix this, please help!
I'll bet it's rooting. Google Play Movies don't work for the same reason.
I've had 2 emails & 3 phone conversations with HTC helpdesk folks over the past 3 weeks, and at the end of the day, they don't know why I'm getting the error.
They did mention the "HTC Watch Department" recognizes this is an error experienced by other users as well, but at the moment they have no way of correcting it.
They also said they'll let me know if/when the issue is resolved. I'll post here if I hear back from them.

Can't Record Calls after Mashmallow? Tried Multiple Apps

Hi guys,
On my stock Z5C before Marshmallow update I was successfully running (and recording) calls with the "Voice Recorder" app from Splend Apps. It worked well, although the sound quality was not great. Well, recently I updated the phone to Android 6.0 and today I tried using Voice Recorder but it gave me an error message: "do you have another app trying to record the call" or something like this.
First reaction was to install another app and get it to work. Well, two apps later (ACR & Call Recorder) and now I suspect this is related to Android 6.0 and not the apps.
Any suggestion on how to tackle this? Preferably without getting into in-depth rooting and things like this?
Thanks in advance,
BB

Interesting, but after reading some of the reviews I am not so confident this is 100% guaranteed to work.. and it does not seem like they offer a trail version. I explicitly believe the issues I have found are related to Android 6.0 and not the apps that I tried using, so unless I can try the app in advance I wont purchase it.

Ok, but it works for me.

Read carefully app's description in play store, there's a link for the trial, right here, on xda forums.
It also works ok on my z5.

S7 Nougat - Google App Search Results pages no longer showing in Recent Apps!?

I downloaded and installed Nougat (UK BTU version) on my S7 today. Generally very pleased but one immediate disappointment. Search Result pages from the Google App no longer appear in the Recent Apps/Multitasking (button to left of home button).
In Marshmallow I could always go back to a Google App Search Results page via Recent Apps. Thus if I wanted to check the next result on the page I did not have to repeat the search. Before I discovered this in Marshmallow I found the Google App very frustrating.
Has anyone else observed this? Is there any setting to reverse this (a vain hope I suppose)? If this thread should be elsewhere or I have missed another relevant thread please let me know. Thanks. PLEASE IGNORE; SEEMS TO BE WORKING OK NOW
Please ignore the above. It has since started to work. If a moderator wishes to delete this thread feel free; I don't seem to be able to find a way myself.
Having the same issue.
I'm experiencing the same issue. Did you do anything to try to fix this or did it just start working randomly?

I have found this:
reddit DOT com/r/chrome/comments/67ndux/help_bookmarks_and_recent_tabs_buttons_gone_in/
google replies it's permanent, bunch of idiots
link
please reply on that forum you don't agree with this
I was also getting annoyed with unwanted junk as suggested content. Tried above options too. The first one about popular sites is still available at the time of posting this reply but that disables only dumping on new tab what is perceived as popular site at Google end.
I got rid of suggested content permanently by signing out of Chrome (Android) and by disabling couple of things under Settings - Privacy. 1. Search and site suggestions and 2. Use a prediction service to load pages quickly. Prepared myself to face slow loading, extra typing, etc rather than having disgusting unwanted junk...in my case in India - Bollywood crap.
setting "show popular sites"...... to DISABLED, did not fix anything for me. suggested articles are still here.
but i find another solution!!!
TESTED SOLUTION FOUND BY ME.
go to the "show server-side suggestions on the new tab page"
and set it to DISABLED.
that's all, now when you swipe up you will no more see Suggested Contents , but only an odd square image with a blue tree on a blue meadow XD XD
THANKS ME if it works for you, so also other people can understand if my solution is completely working (tested on chrome play store of 4 september, the latest till today)

Correct, lol. You did take the time to test and find a solution, so I think it's worth it to bump up your answer. And I click on search results from xda a lot, but never really got around to opening an account. Thanks for the opportunity I guess.

Hi, I have the same problem now with my Pixel 3a and Android 10 (everything stock). Before updating everything was fine.
I contacted pixel support and they told me that may be one of my apps that's messing with the camera, and to unistall my apps one by one to try to find which one is responsible for this situation (in safe mode the camera is working fine).
Did you find some way to fix it?
Hi there. Same here, glad to find I am not alone.
After some panic and then some 4 hours night trying all the apps, trying safe mode etc. I know the culprit: it is Google App with Assistant listening in the background. When you set the voice match to listen to your "OK Google" command (in G App setting->voice match) then you have the hiss. When you turn the function off it goes away. What is funny there is no hiss if you record using front camera. At least good it is not hardware, but extremely unpro from Google as it is their own app that causes the problem. I guess Android 10 is just not polished yet.
I am searching for the most direct way to report it, already did it through settings->tips&co->feedback, but would like to directly contact the Google App devs. Any idea?

Hi, thank you very much, it worked!
I don't know any other way to contact the Google Apps devs, but I'm sending an email to the Google support agent I talked with yesterday for this problem.
If you find another way to report it, let me know and I'll do it too.
Have a nice day.

Could you send me his/her e-mail address as well? I would report it wherever possible as many times as possible And keep us posted if any news - as will I.
I would guess that not many people might have noticed the bug yet (it's like 3 days since the debut of Android 10), but as it is software based and on a fresh, new Android version then perhaps quite a bunch of people are having this bug, but don't know about it yet or don't know where to find help.

Your solution work very well and solve the problem!!!
Thanks!!!
Happy to help Still the issue is not really resolved as this solution handicaps one of Assistants main functions.
I have reported it here: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/14361608?hl=en
Hope this helps and the issue is resolved with the next update of Android 10 or Google App.
Aside from the hiss problem, does the audio recording quality on A10 is the same from Android 9? For videos and audio messages...
I didn't notice any quality loss
For the hiss problema I send a feedback with "tips & support" in settings!
Hey guys. The solution I was writing about before turned out temporary (and it is not a true solution as it is spoling the actual function of the Assistant) and even with Voice Match for Assistant being turned off I got the hiss (I guess it got this way after some minor Google app update). This is unnacceptable, especially that it is Google's own core app doing it on a Google phone :/ I might just buy that Oneplus 7T if they don't fix it with October update :/
Oh, I have created an official issue thread on Google's issue tracker. Please star and comment so that they see the bug, thanks: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/141968224
Even when I disabled Voice Match, I still had the hiss while recording video and audio. I still think it is software because there is no hiss using Duo. This hiss only seems to be present when I record video or use the voice recorder. My wife's Pixel 3a doesn't seem to have the issue.
Try the Jan 2020 update. Release notes say they fixed the audio issue with video recording. Worth a shot. "Improvements for audio in video capture."
Source: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/24852169
Edit: source link added
January update fixed the hiss for me.
