[Feb 24, 2021] Pixel Launcher Editor for Pixel 2 with Color Picker - Google Pixel 2 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Badseed Customs Presents
Pixel Launcher Editor
Greetings
This is a combination of a Magisk module and Substratum Theme. I originally did this as means to give custom options to people who enjoy the Pixel Launcher and was planning to release on the Play Store. Since it required a modified Pixel Launcher via Magisk, I decided to release it to the public via XDA.
The Magisk module is needed in order for the options in the Substratum theme to install and function properly!

1. Download and flash Pixel.5.Launcher.Helper.zip via Magisk.
2. Install Substratum Lite from Play Store.
3. If you have a pre v5.0 of Pixel Launcher Editor uninstall then reboot.
4. Install Pixel Launcher Editor.*
*When installing the editor you might get a message stating that Play Protect does not recognize this app's developer, that is because I signed the app with my private keys and I am not registered through the Play Store.
How to build your custom Pixel Launcher Theme
01. Open Substratum Lite and select Pixel Launcher Editor.
02. Read welcome screen carefully then select PROCEED.

04. Under Android System select AppDrawerBkg to set your desired app drawer background color. If nothing is selected, stock colors will be used (note that the hex code to the far right will not change when you select a different color, the color circle will show the color you picked).

06. Under Android System select FolderTrim to set your desired folder trim color. If nothing is selected, stock colors will be used.

13. Under Pixel Launcher select Text Size to set your desired text size or if you would like to remove it completely.
14. Under Pixel Launcher select Icon & At A Glance Options to set your desired icon size.
15. Select the boxes for Android System and Pixel Launcher then select the floating bubble at the bottom right and select Install selected.
16. If you would like to hide at a glance widget please follow the following steps, if not skip to step 17.
a. At the very top select the same grid you selected the first time (ex. Grid6x7).b. Skip down to Remove Searchbar? and select the same option you selected in step 11 above (ex. Yes6x7)c. Skip down to very bottom, press Icon & At A Glance Options and select RemoveAtAGlance (this will only hide the widget, area will not be usable).d. Check the box for Pixel Launcher. Only this box. 1 box only. Do not select Android System.e. Press 1 Selected (see only 1, does not have a 2) bubble that appears on bottom right and select Install selected.17. Reboot your phone

If I helped, hit the Thanks Button!
Feeling generous, send me a beer!

Quick note. There is hardly any modifications that are left to add to this project besides more options to the options already there. I might add the ability to hide (not remove) at a glance widget. I say hide because the space will not be usable. I know it was requested for more grid sizes and I plan to add those in. That being said. Feel free to request specific colors and I'll do my best to add them in for bi-weekly updates. I would need a hex code for the color and please give a name as well. Other than that enjoy!

This is great thank you for this

Changelog
Pixel Launcher Helper v10.11
-Updated to July OTA [Helper 10.11]
Thanks to @miggsr & @Face_Plant for testing on Pixel 3 & Pixel 3XL

No update needed for August security patch

Ok guys, spent pretty much all day porting this over to Android 11. I had to completely rewrite the magisk module and the substratum theme. Installation is the same. Please let me know if you have any issues. I only got to test my usual setup. Enjoy!
Pixel Launcher Editor v4.0 & Pixel Launcher Helper v11.0.0.1
-Updated to Android 11 (DO NOT USE ON ANDROID 10) [Helper 11.0.0.1 & Editor v4.0]
-Editor v3.9 & Helper v10.11 are final versions for Android 10

Would any of you guys be interested in being able to remove/hide 3 button navigation bar in order to use custom gesture app? I know with android 11 we dont have the overscan api anymore so i added a tweak to a personal release of my editor to be able to hide 3 button navigation bar via substratum. Added a poll to the Pixel 4XL thread. Please vote!

Minor update with one change. If you don't care for the new option there is no need to update from 4.0 to 4.1
Changelog
Pixel Launcher Editor v4.1
-Added option to hide 3 button navigation bar. YOU MUST HAVE A 3RD PARTY NAVIGATION SOLUTION SETUP BEFORE APPLYING THIS OVERLAY!

Ok guys I know Oct update is out and I have already looked into it and it does have some small changes to the Pixel Launcher so I will have to update the mod. I recently sold my p4xl and am waiting on one of my testers to get back to me to see if everything is working fine. Once he gets back to me I'll release the Oct update for you guys.

[APP][2.1+] Apps-Beam - Your apps at a glance ! 1.1

Hi everyone,

You can even launch applications at random if you don't want to choose one in particular or want to experience randomness !
Apps-Beam displays on a large grid, tiny icons of your apps so that you can quickly access to all of them, in the blink of an eye; just click on an app to launch it and long click to share, uninstall, see information, bookmark, hide, rate on the market (with predefined custom comments to make it even easier !).

- Detect at launch when apps list has changed and update itself !

- Custom icon size from tiny...really tiny to large 150px icons: see instantly the rendering and save your preference
- Custom size for bookmarks panel (choose a size with the slider;back;open bookmarks;save size;that's all !)
Overall
~~~~~~~
- Time saving !
Some hints
~~~~~~~
The fastest way for multiple selections (share/boomark/hide):
-sliding navigation panel
-check checkbox
-select your apps
-click on options icon in the navigation panel
-...and bam !
For options, you can also long click on any item, then "selection options".
~~~~~~~~~~~
Just put the icon of Apps-Beam on your home screen and enjoy with this new app manager concept !
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(1)See an application information or clear cache or uninstall it;
-before (5 steps ~): "homescreen Menu/Settings/Application/Manage applications + wait a little/click on app"
-now (3 steps): just "click on Apps-Beam icon/long click app/information or uninstall" ...and bam !
(2)Don't know what to launch now, what app to play with...coffee break;
-before: "home launcher/scroll forth and coming/thinking twice/click on app"
-now: "click on Apps-Beam icon/menu/random app/" ...and bam !
... again ? see notification bar and click on Apps-Beam icon to be even faster !
(3)general comment for 4 stars for a favorite app
-before: "market app/search+text or menu/my apps/click on app/thinking, writing/post"
-now (predefined custom comments): "Apps-Beam app/long click on app/share/paste default text/post" ...bam !
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Experience Apps-Beam on tablet or in landscape mode with 100 apps at a glance in regular screen -Galaxy S, desire HD, N1 ...
We found it useful and time saving, we just hope that if you have a lot of apps and you get rid off scrolling and if you're always looking for your apps that you will find Apps-Beam useful also .
To use notification for random app in notification bar efficiently, when you return back to Apps-Beam, push home button so that the app is maintained in background; then just pull down your notification bar and launch apps at random ...till you clear notification or you close Apps-Beam app !
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Give it a try on the Android Market
Download link: Android Market
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To "batch uninstall" apps, 3 steps:
1)Slide the handle of the navigation panel (bottom) and check the box to activate multiple selection
2)select your apps
3)click options button (navigation panel or long click an item then "select options") then "uninstall"
..and there you are !
We added translucent background for color also ! Check menu/settings/background and choose your transparency level for your favorite color. It works also for custom png background images (save your custom image in "ergsap/appsbeam/background" on your sdcard and choose it via menu/background) !
Two things:
-Translucent background won't work for OS version Eclair (2.1) and below ... (incompatibility issue with translucent and fullscreen feature)
-To set your custom background color, background image has to be disabled (see menu/background/"no background" and then restart to see your favorite background color)
~ ~~~~~~~~~
Changelogs:
Version1.1 (lot of great updates!)
-to increase performance/stability we added SDCARD permission (icons are stored in sdcard/ergsap/appsbeam) & an internal database (external db were slower)
Hi,
A new version is available in the Android Market with performance improvements (really faster !) and minor bug fixes that were causing load delays (link Android Market ).
Happy to see that gridApps is useful and time saving for you
Notes:
-for very first launch (after installation), gridApps synchronizes all your apps so it takes approximately 5 to 10 s for 100+ apps
-when your apps list is updated (removal or new installation), gridApps synchronize automatically when you launch it and take the same duration to reload
-else it loads almost instantly for apps list in alphabetical order ! (instant if the list is not ordered)
Thanks for these ideas ; 1) and 2) are in the roadmap along with bookmark/export;
3) doesn't seem straightforward ...perhaps double tapping home-key simpler with some tricks...
I see that CM7 proposes to launch any app for "hold home button" (#homescreen menu/settings/cyano/input/Long-press home/use custom app/select/App/AppsBeam#), useful shortcut ...a replacement solution for rooted phones for the moment ?
The drawer scrolling animation may cause the lag on old phones. I will add an option to disable the animation in future versions.
Great launcher . No lagging. Pl. add gesture support for accessing notification bar in full screen mod .
The launcher is really great !
No laggs O:
Will there be a option to change the background in appdrawer ?
That would be nice *-*
Hmm.. lags on the Atrix...
But not bad for a beta release. Just hope the scrolling in home screen and app drawer and opening transition to app drawer will be smoother.
had been waiting for a stock ICS look-alike launcher for my Samsung Galaxy R i9103.
I want to give some feedback. The launcher lags a lot while entering the app drawer and going back to the home screen. And that lag makes it nearly unusable in normal use.. that, I presume, can be fixed. Other than that, no problems!
Keep up the good work!
Nice launcher
However, the app drawer is very laggy on my Samsung Galaxy W.
Any plans to make it possible to change the dock icons individually/manually?
Hi, here is my own launcher builded from scrach. I was very frustrated about all launchers that all look the same, so i decided to create my own launcher.
Solid is meant to be stable, fast, nice and different. I make everything I can to make it like this !
Do not hesitate to send me your feedbacks and to rate Solid on playstore.
Help translate: https://www.getlocalization.com/SolidLauncher/
Playstore description :
Solid Launcher brings a new kind of home screen, which differs of other regular android AOSP based launchers. It has been written from scratch to fill the lack of "different" launchers in android world.
Solid is designed to be fast, intuitive, efficient and beautyful. Originally, Solid's design was inspired by Google Now design with cards and cities headers, but now more from the native and original Material Design. Solid is highly customizable; you can make it fully transparent or with colors automatically inspired from your wallpaper !
Main functionalities:
• Fling widgets: open a floating widget by just swipping on an app's icon
• Header panel: an advanced dock which can contain apps, shortcuts and widgets
• Custom applications transitions: customize transitions when opening/closing applications
• Icon packs: thousands of icon packs available, fully compatible with Apex icon packs
• Dynamic theme color: Solid can adapts theme color to your wallpaper automatically
• Gestures: double tap, swipe in multiple directions ...
• Customizable page animations
• Multiple page indicators
• Wallpaper scroll (parallax or regular)
• Multiple folder icon layout type
• Customizable icon appearance: icon size, text color, text font
• Customizable row and column counts: available for header panel and grids
• Multiple drawer themes
• Customizable page count, customizable default page
• Hidden apps: select which apps you don't want in apps drawer
• Customizable margins: modify header panel and grids margins
• Multiple drawer layouts: choose between indexed grid or indexed list
• Quick search bar in app drawer
• Folder adapt their colors to their container (container's card ..)
This app is developed on my free time, you can support my work by getting Prime version. Thanks.
Good app. i have just download it.
and i find direct apk file for this app
Thanks !
I don't really understand this kind of website, i think it's not bad as long as my app is free. Is this kind of site dangerous ?
Is it possible to replace the starting widget? Also, could there be an auto detect feature for our location? Some cities can have multiple locations, say Dallas, but they're in different states and there's no way to differentiate between them as they show up as Dallas, United States instead of Texas or Colorado (or Wisconsin).
He shouldn't have posted that. The app should be downloaded from the Play Store only so the Dev can keep track of the number of downloads and issue that are reported.
You can disable defaut widget, it s called top panel.
Go to settings/top/top panel and switch the enable/disable switch. Then you can put any widget you want.
Cities are provided by universal yahoo weather api, so i cant really do something.
Auto location is not planned, but i' ll think about that for next updates.
Thanks for your feedback.
Notification count work depending on launchers and app which wants to display notification count.
To be brieve, for example facebook app wants to tell home that there is 3 notification unviewed.
Facebook app will check which launcher is set as default and use an adapted way (Broadcast or ContentProvider) to send notification count to it.
Facebook sends count only to current default launcher, and if launcher is unkown, it do nothing.
For now facebook support only aosp launcher, samsung, sony and htc.
So to receive notification count, solid launcher has to be supported by facebook ... And i don't think it will
A library exists to make job easier to developers, developers just sends unread count, and library take care of determinate which launcher is by default and way to notify it. I'll ask to library's developer to add solid launcher. But only few recent app will support this. In the future, all apps that will use this library will be supported by Solid Launcher !
That's awesome!
Another feature I would like it would be to be possible to add my own icons, I say this because I've bookmarked my company mail and added the icon on launcher, but it would be also nice to have the possibility to change the icon for something more "clean".
Either way is one of the most cleaned and diferent launchers I've tried (and I tried them all, or almost). Very good job specially for the new perspective of launchers
Looks fantastic
Loving the high contrast icons in the status bar pull-down menu. Great job!
The lockscreen isn't much, though, maybe you could improve?
If I drag the small bar under "Slide to unlock" in the lockscreen, it says, "Change screen lock style"
Under it there are 4 different icons. None of them work. Any idea?
Edit: I was playing around and if I change the "Battery Percentage" under "Notifications & Status bar", from "In icon" to "Do not show" or "Next to icon", The two different battery icons overlap. Might wanna look into this.
DARK theme Please
Awesome
Thanks .
We cannot customize the locksreen much without a theme engine but I'll try to add more next time.
I'm currently working on it.Its almost done except for a few bugs like settings side bar transparency and background of radio buttons Colors.
I want to make it flawless before uploading here.
Revert back to Hauwei launcher and restart
or
try rebuilding the icon cache on Pixel launcher after restarting the device
That Isn't an error it's a display message as I took the raw data from emui 5.0( an old version )
So there won't be any issues?
Just one problem...
Please make it fully white instead of it being transparent, the text overlaps other texts making it hard to read. Thanks.
EDIT: just reread the post and saw that you're working on it...
Sorry for not reading thoroughly. :silly:
When applying the theme it will prompt you for magazine unlock. Make sure to decline that notification popup. Then restart the device. It works fine for me. I don't understand how none of them work for you.
