S8 Confirmed Not Getting Android 10 (Q) - Samsung Galaxy S8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Bad news everyone samsung have just released there official update schedule for android 10 and the S8 is not on the list so it looks like samsung are still only doing 2 years of version updates. Which is sad I use an S8 as my work phone and an s10 plus as my daily will not be getting the s12 enless they change how long they support there devices for.
Just wanted to know people's thoughts on this and get a discussion going.
I have attached screenshots from the update schedule in my samsung members app on my S10.

Strange .. I believe J7 Prime from 2016 still getting Q, which is 3 years old. It already got Pie.
It came with Marshmallow.

Android N question

Hey guys,
Judging by how android M was provided to the S6, should we expect the same amount of time till S7 gets N (eg-mid next year) or could we possibly expect android N around or soon after when the Note 7 gets it ?
Please dont troll this thread, not interested in that if you dont like my questions just move along.
Thanks

Samsung said the Note 7 will get Android 7 in 3 months. I think our phonnes should get the official 7.0 fimware in early 2017. Luckily the N7's hardware is almost the same as the S7's hardware. So porting the N7 firmware shouldn't be impossible.

Good News Infinity Users -> Android 7.1 for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ To Roll Out Soon

Good News Infinity Users -> Android 7.1 for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ To Roll Out Soon
Samsung’s decision to ship the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ with Android 7.0 left many confused. The latest version of Google’s mobile operating system at the flagship’s launch was Android 7.1. It made sense for the company to release its new handset with the latest version of Android but it didn’t do that.
Then again, it’s not like the Android 7.1 update adds any major new features that Galaxy S8 owners have missed out on. It brings new emoji, launcher actions for the Pixel launcher and other minor tweaks. The emoji and launcher updates don’t really matter to Galaxy S8 owners since Samsung uses its own versions of both on its handsets.
Nevertheless, the Android 7.1 update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ should be rolling out soon. Vodafone Australia has updated its website to reflect that the new firmware release has been submitted for review. This means that it’s in the final stage before roll out.
The carrier itself mentions that this is going to be a “Stability and Bug Fix” update so users shouldn’t expect much in the way of new features. With a major Australian carrier coming close to rolling out Android 7.1 for Galaxy S8, it’s only a matter of time before said update is released for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in other markets across the globe.

Vodafone Australia does not bring the update out soon, but the roll out has already begun. *
The thing is , it won't give new features, or not that much.
The futur will be on Android O and how much time Samsung will take to push it on it S8

Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note8 will reportedly not get the new One UI

Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note8 will reportedly not get the new One UI

Tom's Guide, who were present at the Samsung Developer Conference yesterday, asked a company representative if One UI, which is the replacement for the Samsung Experience, would make it onto the previous generation of Galaxy smartphones. The response to the website won't please many:
Disappointingly though, Samsung has confirmed to Tom's Guide that the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 will miss out on this new modernized and streamlined software experience.
Although the above statement isn't an official announcement from Samsung, as xdadevelopers reports, it does raise questions about how Samsung will be expected to support multiple versions of the Android Pie update which, although not officially confirmed yet, is set to arrive on those earlier devices as a second major update. It seems odd that Samsung would release Android 9.0 with Samsung Experience for the S8, S8+ and Note8 and then Android 9.0 with One UI for the S9, S9+ and Note9.
Although we have no doubt in the validity of this report, we do hope that the Samsung spokesperson was misinformed, and that One UI makes its way to Samsung's 2017 flagships along with Android Pie and a proper 'Dark mode'.

There is a chance of a s9 port?
As I always state in cases as such...There is no need just yet to sharpen pitch forks or light the torches Every time news like this comes out the community always gets bent out of shape..Goes nuts. And more
Until this is confirmed and true I wouldn't even really comment on this topic.
Same happened with "patched" root methods,That ended up being false,As well as other "true" reports...
If this is true. It just shows that Samsung took the same route as HTC, and taking a piss on their customers. They will loose in the long run on tactics like that.
S8 is definitely my last Samsung because of how it treats its last year's flag phones ...

Are we going to get Android 10 officially ? Or any Custom ROM based on Android 10 ?

as mentioned in above subject just curious about updated version of Android 10.
are we going to get it officially ? if not then any hope for any custom rom developer will work on our device for android 10 ?
thanks,
Officially not, Samsung already revealed the phones that will get Android 10, and from the Galaxy series, only S9 and S10 series will get it, S8 is out of feature updates.
Custom rom tho? It depends of the devs mostly, if no dev wants to work with Android 10, then possibly not custom Android 10 either
This is a sad news ?
At least we should get custom ROM in Android 10
I know, let's hope I guess, sounds difficult to do so tho
No Samsung UI 2.0 tho (well except if someone port a S9/N9/S10/N10 ROM to S8)
Do you have any idea what is Samsung going to do in UI2.0
To be honest, I don't know, but I guess more features? not sure which ones tho
S8 launched with android 7, right?
And we got 8, 9 updates.
So R.I.P S8.

Yep I just picked a pixel 3a XL and it's awesome. Android 10 is really smooth and I believe these phones get 3 years of updates
We can say a lot of things about iPhones but man their support for a bazillion new official updates is a really nice thing.

Samsung quits support for the Galaxy S8

Well.. after all the drama Galaxy users had with their previous flagships regarding Software Updates, the Galaxy S8 is the next one to be silently ended by Samsung. They removed the S8/S8+ from their Security Update site, which means that the April 2021 patch was the last one we will ever see from Samsung's site on the S8. Maybe they will roll out an additional one, as they did last year with the Galaxy S7 (EOL: August 2020 patch), but thats not guaranteed..
Sad news but I already saw that coming last year, so I already switched to an iPhone.
Sad story.
How secure is using an unpatched phone with a good antimalware / antivirus ?
Alternatives?
Are there custom ROMs receiving security updates that can be used
with play store etc... without having root enabled?
I'm wondering this myself.
Is it time to buy a new phone and retire this?
My display is already cracked in two corners with small bits gone.
I'm not happy that there are no more security updates.
I have the same questions! I'd like to install a custom rom but the links all seem to be down.
