I just bought a OnePlus 7 Pro, and immediately updated to Android Q, unlocked, rooted and installed Titanium Backup to transfer over my old apps.
However, I cannot restore most apps. I just made the backup on my other phone and so assume there are no data corruption issues. When I try to batch or individually restore, it will hang at random apps (the majority of my apps), and require a full phone reboot to gain access to TB again. I've confirmed TB has permission to install from unknown sources. I've tried all of the different installation modes in Preferences, as well as batch and individual restore. Is this an issue because my TB app backups were created on an Android 9 phone, but 10 does not allow that? Has anyone else had this issue or have suggestions?
Edit: Solved, thanks for the Swift Backup recommendations! Worked great, worth the $6 for the pay edition to do batch backups/restores.
I had the same issue when I first moved to Android 10. I don't believe it is a 9 to 10 issue, just the way TB handles the apks and data. Any app on 10 backing up and restoring in TB has had issues for me. Only way around it is to install the apps that don't restore properly in TB from the Play Store, then go into TB and restore data. Since then I've moved to SwiftBackup, which has had zero issues on Android 10 and seems to work faster as well.

I didn't even try TiBU, haven't actually used it in a while. But since getting my 7pro I've been using swift backup and love it. Looks way better and I haven't had any issues backing up or restoring.

Thanks! I'll try Swift Backup and see if that fixes things.
Edit: Swift Backup indeed worked, and is also faster and easier to use than Titanium Backup. Thanks again!

Thank you very much friend, I have had this problem for a while and I was almost thinking of buying a Swift Backup license to solve the problem, but now thanks to your help I can say that I have solved the problem, I have done various tests with the option enabled and disabled and actually restore on one occasion freezes and blocks on the other, thanks again for the valuable information. Hello

Ciao

I disabled "Verify apps over USB" and it allowed my hanging restores to complete.
HOWEVER, the apps in question then crashed every time I tried to open them. So not truly a working solution.
Stop using that app.. there are better options now like Swift Backup which is far superior .

Yea like what functionality?
Both apps are made to make back ups and restore what fuctionality does TI has over Swift backup?
I love when someone state something but wont show any proff of what they saying is actually true.

Outdated in the UI, but not in the functionality. I still have yet to find any backup solution that's as powerful and flexible as TiBu (and that includes the much-vaunted Swift Backup).

Before claiming one app is "far superior" than the other make sure you know what you're talking about. Swift backup doesn't even have 50% of the features that Ti does, it just looks better.

Who gives a rat's ass about what an app looks like? Seriously, if that is a reason to use an app, go use Apple devices.
I don't care if an app looks bad, if it does what it needs to do, that's fine.
Titanium Backup Pro fails restoring apps from Android v 8/9 to v 10. Some work, but most will not. Which can be quite bad, especially these days, with Authenticators, camera apps, banking apps, password manager apps, WhatsApp, Signal, you name it. None of them will restore when migrating from 8/9 to 10. Found out the hard way. Luckily for signal and whatsapp I had actual in-app backups, but the rest I had not.

Yeah, this pretty much sums it up. Don't delete any of the google voice or google talk apps though, as another user mentioned this caused problems for him. (Not 100% sure on the specific apps involved though)
I got rid of all of the ATT ones and haven't had any issues.
Ummmm okay, I open the program, select "Backup/Restore" and it gives me:
Accounts
Application Widgets
Bluetooth Pairings
Country, Language, Time zone
Wi-Fi Access Points
If I select "Application Widgets" I get an option to "Backup!", but "Freeze!" and "Uninstall!" are grayed out. I don't even get a list of installed apps.

Try pressing the problems button at the bottom of the screen and letting it download the "known good version" of busybox. Not sure if this will work, but I did it before doing anything else and everything is working good for me.

rooting
rooting positively absolutley voids warranty, correct? Also....ANY possible way to remove AT&T bloatware w/ out rooting? I'm prob guessing no.
Thanks for the pointers - I just removed all the AT&T apps and the phone definitely seems to approve as much as I do.

I think you need root....
One of the few apps able to remove the bloatware is the Titanium backups but this one needs root to install.
I think if you have adb/sdk and able to console in, you should be able to uninstall crap like that. Then again i think you need root permissions to access those file.
Don't quote me.
pretty sure there will be an unroot so if thats a concern id wait.
I'm new to the whole android scene. I just rooted my phone and currently have Titanium Backup running doing a backup of Apps + System data. Is that all I need to make sure I have a backup of those AT&T apps should I need/want them back?
I believe it is saving them in a folder called TitaniumBackup. Should I transfer that folder to my pc just in case something happens to that backup on my phone?
Thanks for the list of apps to get rid of as well. Will come in handy.
Ok I've been searching for a while now and can't find a full solution. I want to flash the updated Leedroid rom to my Inspire but I don't want to lose ANYTHING. My goal is to flash the new rom and have my phone be exactly the same as before the flash, just updated. I need like a 100% guarantee. I don't want to backup anything to google contacts because it degrades the photos, and I don't want to lose any accounts or app data.
Thank

Yes, Titanium Backup will backup everything, even system data. However, if you are switching between ROMs, you do not want to restore system data (eg. going from Sense to CM7) you will have a ton of issues.

Ok so I won't lose texts, call logs, favorites, settings, accounts, app data...EVERYTHING? I'm staying with Sense just simply updating to the new Leedroid from the previous version.
Titanium backup does not back up call logs, text messages etc. It can back up apps, app data and configurations, and system data. As said above, you do not want to back up system data when u are going from one rom to another. Even if its the same rom but different version. The only right way I know of to do what your asking is if the developer of the rom u are using offers incremental rom updates. That way, no data or configurations is deleted. You may be new to android...so I offer this warning to you....don't try and cut corners or invent ways of trying to accomplish something...you will either find yourself having lots of problems with your phone or end up bricking it. If it could be done, there would already be a process to do it, made by the developers on this forum.

I'm not trying to cut corners at all that's why I posted this. I keep being told what not to do but I'm still not getting the answer I need. What am I going to lose? What can I save? Using what? What is the best app/apps to get the most I can in a backup. I'm not trying to be ungrateful for the help it's just rather frustrating after searching for hours and can't get a solid answer. I hate when people are just like "no that won't work" lol offer the most info you can to help someone out. That's why these forums are here. Again I'm just annoyed a can't get a full answer lol

See that's exactly what I'm talking about lol I have looked it up this is exactly what the description says:
"The ONLY tool that can backup, restore, freeze (with Pro) your apps + data + Market links! Even protected apps! 0-click Batch/scheduled backups! PRO version has 0-click batch restores, Dropbox sync, Dalvik cleaner & MORE!"
That does explain anything at all. It's simple man if you know the info share it. If you don't have the time to write something helpful on here, I get that. But don't write something just to write a reply. I obviously need help so I don't mess things up. I'm trying to get helpful info not just someone saying "go look it up". I've tried. I keep coming up on MyBackup Pro and Titanium Backup Pro, but they don't tell me what I can't restore when I'm flashing a new rom and what I can't backup. Simply stating that it backups "data" and "settings" doesn't help me if I don't know what exactly that means. Just making a backup isn't what I'm trying to achieve.
The best app to backup IMO is titanium backup. But again, when going from one rom to the next, this backs up apps only. There is no effective way that I know of to back up your text messages, call logs etc. So the implied message is, you will loose everything that is not an app backed up by titanium backup. The main purpose of titanium backup is to back up your apps so u don't have to redownload everything. Other than that, the only other recommended backup method is nandroid backup through clockwork mod recovery. This backup is a full system image backup. So restoring through this method will put u right back to the same rom and version you were at. So in short, do a titanium backup, wipe, install your new rom, titanium backup to restore your apps, and start reconfiguring away like the rest of us do.

Not correct. TiBu will back up texts and call logs. It's probable you don't know that because you don't restore system data. I've never had a problem doing that, but I guess everyone has a different experience.

I understand that not finding the answer you seek in its entirety can be a bit troubling. But in my humble opinion, trial and error is part of this never ending adventure we call Android OS.
As stated above, Titanium Backup will probably be your best bet to get "most" of the backup you seek.

Exactly. Android is a completely different animal than iPhone. Android is built on Linux. So its going to be completely different. Not sure about the apps that claim to backup texts...never heard anybody use that before and I've had no need for it. I had the same issue with contacts but I just found it easier to go ahead and sync Google contacts. Because when you enter the world of flashing, that's one less thing you have to worry about backing up and restoring...because its stored online. And as soon as you install your new rom, and then sign in to your Google account, it will automatically download your contacts to your new rom. And whenever you edit contacts, it automatically syncs in real-time.

That's a valid point. It frustrates me too. But ultimately, when you start flashing, you want to find a way to streamline the process to what works best for you. And like said earlier, the android experience is trial and error. But again, that doesn't include doing things that's likely going to eff up your phone...unless you simply don't care about turning your phone into a really expensive paper weight. Then you will be that Guy that's posting on the forum....help! I messed up my phone.

Lol exactly I'd rather ask for help and seem like a newb, which I am, then be the one crying after I messed things up and it's too late. So ANYTHING I've downloaded including the amazon app store, which was a PITA to get on the phone, will be saved using Tbackup right? And that's it. Photos and all that good stuff are saved to the SD card and what not I just need to flash the new rom and then put my email accounts and I'm good to go right?
When rooting and going with a custom rom I lost my notes app that came on the phone. Is there a addon that i can put on that will restore my notes that i backed up on before the switch?
If you made a nandroid you can just take it from there manually.
Though its best you just use something like evernote that syncs to the cloud so you don't have to deal with that in ze futur.
i did back up the nandroid. is there a how to on that i just want to get all my data?
probably somewhere but it'd be easier to restore it then backup your apps with titanium backup so you have it for any rom you flash.

I deleted all the stock apps, and set up two tasks in TiBu to backup all new apps, and all apps with changed data every night. I backup these to dropbox every day or two. This keeps data intact, and also helps eliminate customize each of these apps between ROMs.

Change your title to solved. Good job.
Edit: Now go use Epistle or wait for Google drive, put all your notes to the cloud and never look back.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to inform you about two apps I found recently that appear to boost performance and battery life a bit.
The one that boosts performance is a better and more efficient version of Seeder. It's called SeFix and (as opposed to Seeder) really does seem to work!
The second (the battery booster) is actually way more versatile:
It's called Greenify and it lets you disable apps to run in the background.
Eg. I set it to decline the Google Maps request to run in the background all the time; because as we all know, Maps often sucks somewhere near 7% of the battery.
(However, it needed me to root uninstall it and then install it from the play store, so it wasn't a system app anymore)
Anyway: I hope this helped and that it makes your device nicer to use (like it did for me)
Last but not least: as you are probably aware: Orange Backup is a backup app that lets you do complete (CWM or TWRP style backups) without having to go into the recovery!
Really awesome.
I guess you could use it for Facebook too, to keep it from running in the background all the time.
Or... You could also *not* use Facebook and switch to cooler social media, such as Google+

Greenify looks the app I have been looking for. Maps constantly runs in the background (not on my tf700 but on HTC One S). I am trying this app to see if it works. Thanks for sharing!

You might have to root uninstall it and then reinstall it from the Play Store (to get rid of the 'system app' issue).
It worked for me
Definitely some better battery life after stopping those battery hungry apps
:good: thank you, i will try them... :victory:

Never happened to me.
Are you using data2sd?
Maybe it's confused because of the switch?
I can only say that it works like a treat for me and that it makes these backups quite fast considering that it doesn't need to boot into recovery.
Have you tried contacting the developer? He's called snoopy333 and is to be found in the original thread. Maybe he can tell you what's going on?
Thank you for sharing the existence of greenify.
EXCELLENT
How do I block the playstore?
Titanium Backup does not turn me or makes user application and remains in system application.
thanks

No data2sd, I installed it, went well, config backup desitnation folder which is on my sdcard or microsdcard (tried both). Did you use cloud instead of internal storage? I uninstalled/reinstalled still same issue, WTF! This app seems very well done.

I tried TWRP (compression disabled, maybe the key lies there) and let it back-up locally.
But I have indeed also backed everything up to the cloud.
Both worked fine...
Have you contacted the dev yet? I am kind of curious what causes this issue

I contacted the developer and he resolved my issue. This issue was busybox. I re installed busybox and bam everything is working as expected. BTW, his service is excellent, send him an email and 10min later I got his reply. Can't beat that for a free app!! Thanks.

It is always so impressive how responsive android developers are :highfive:

Yeah like I said: go into Titanium Back-up, select Google Maps and convert it to user app (or root uninstall Maps and reinstall it through the Play Store)
Afterwards, you should be able to select it for Greenify!
Is there any app to backup desktop setup - settings like widgets-folders and shortcut?

Weird that sometimes when I restore from backup desktop will also be restored and then like today it doesn't.
Would be good to know how to do a backup (without the need to root!)
Migrate. Playstore. Puts everything exactly how one leaves it. Best out there ..

Keeps failing the backup for me. Contacted support but no reply yet.
OnePlus switch app.. it provide to backup all staff from desktop either and, call register and so on
Used the switch app to restore last night. All worked ok. Drained 15% battery over night as it stayed active. Weird.
If the app fails a backup clearing cache will sort the problem.
