Anybody on ColorOS 7? - Oppo Reno Ace Questions & Answers

I believe it was released in China on Nov 26 but it is not showing up on my Gundam edition yet?

Me too, still says, ColorOS 6.1 PCLM10_11_A.07

Same here. Even tried going to Settings > Trial version and it says there is none for my model yet.

It is still in beta testing in China and only has 2000 slots for the testing. All the slot has gone on the first day of the registration.

Ah OK - do you know when they release it more widely? Will there be another round of beta or will it be full stable release next? Thanks

The admin in ColorOS forum did not disclose the date about the full stable release and their formal reply is something like stay tuned for the next batch of beta testing.

Where? Compatible with Reno Ace models?

At present, color7 is still under beta test, and engineers have not announced when the official version will be available. I'm Chinese. I'm using color7. There are many bugs, but it's easy to use. It needs to be fixed
---------- Post added at 06:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:25 AM ----------
There is no upgrade package of color7 in any place. Oppo is very strict in management and does not reveal the upgrade package. Please wait for the engineer's announcement. Test stage, not suitable for ordinary people

Thanks for that update. It's disappointing that nearly 3 months after the announcement there is still no stable version. Especially that they still keep pushing it in their marketing yet it's still not available on one of their more recent models.

Hi guys,
I read in a news update that we'll be getting the official color os 7 on the 10th of march.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B81biPgqq9h/?igshid=1d1ryimr63813
I'm quite excited to see the fixes and improvements there are in the new version.
Maybe we'll be able to disable some system apps now.
Wishful thinking ???

Some places will be released before March 10. But if you don't like tasting, you can only go to the after-sales service to downgrade. You can't downgrade the mobile phone system yourself, so we suggest you wait for the official version. Thank you for your attention to China's oppo. I will feed back your doubts to oppo's engineers and let us use the official version as soon as possible.

I installed A.10 and it seems to only update the Android 2020-2 security patch.
And Mobile video RBT function.

Good news apparently we are going to get more spaces for color os 7

All that is stated is to be in A.09 or A.10 and be ready today at 9:00pm EST (03,07,2020 at 10:00am china)
It will open the beta/trial version for 20,000 slots because the previous 5,000 were full.

You'll obviously need a Oppo account but not sure if you'll need a Chinese number you can make a oppo account without the Chinese number

The reason I ask is that for a while it would show me the trial version screen but say all 5,000 slots were taken, and that screen asked for a phone number. I have an oppo account so will check it out later. Thanks for posting this!

I have looked for an update on FF too today, but I cannot see the one you have above. What country are you in.
I am on the beta Oreo tester update, but I am looking to update to the official asap
It says official but it isn't.. I upgraded my mate 9 5 days ago and there's a problem with it..
Downloaded app called (my Device) and look at Device info.
User : test (Name of user for internal engineering build)
Host: wuhjk0390cna (Name of user for internal engineering build)
Many 3rd app are blocked error - 501 antutu, CpuZ and other apps that can show us the system info.. Look like they don't want the owner know that this was a test for [internal engineering build purposes]
They're monitoring. Damn!! Only few active owner get this Internal engineering build test around the world on each country.

Stuttering and lagging while watching 2k and 4k downloaded videos and movies(i didn't face this issues before upgrade)
But camera recorded 2k60fps and 4k videos just work fine.
With oreo.. 3D Mark scores are terrible compared to Nougat.
Vulkan api is no longer supported.
I noticed the lagging and stuttering while playing 3D Games with native resolution too.
This isn't official Oreo upgrade.. It's Beta test for internal engineering build purposes.
My current Build number now is (MHA-L29 8.0.0.360(C636)

But it's on you to decide (EMUI 8 is great)
Just performance and 3rd apps compatibility issues.

I was thinking something about that because in FF, now the name of my device is just MHA.
We will be able to update to future versions, like official Oreo?

Actually.. The Oreo upgrade(for internal engineering build) is 5 stars recommended.. Every builds, there must be a tester. This is the best way for every Developers to achieve something.
Kirin 960 is the one that make Huawei able to compete other flagship devices, there is no way that they just let the successor left behind. I mean.. Yes.. We, us, all mate 9 owner will get the official Upgrade but it depends on how many mate 9 owner accept the Beta test.

Those are all official files and are not yet approved to be downloaded over the air. If you are not patient like myself and want to unlock your bootloader and might have to start fresh you can download the 3 files for your current handset version and than run HWOTA8. This method will use twrp to send over a no check recovery which allows you to install correct firmware even if it's not approved yet for your imei. It works great. If your are a little experienced with rooting and unlocking bootloader I say go ahead.
Make sure before any of this you save your product Id number and serial
Now in FF says that version .362 it's approved but when I finished download and just right before reboot says the package it's not verified. Anyone tried?
how root after that upgrade ?

I asked Vivo about firmware change. They said it is not possible, if I want to have firmware from India I have to buy phone in India, phones from China can have only Chinese firmware.
there must be a way to change firmware with the global ... we just need to understand how
Well if Anyone find a way let"s share it.
With a global rom the amount of devs increases which may have the positive effect that someone finds a way...

Me too after uninstalling some 20 Chinese bloatware via settings menu + 25 further via adb I’m completely satisfied with smoothness, stability and great battery life.

My main motivation for a global rom is to replace Jovi with Google Assistant; also would like to get rid of Vivo account altogether.
I would probably wait for the HK version though; Indian ROM might have some other localisation features I don't need.

You can update directly to latest version... since your are interested in custom ROM dont update to latest version because xiaomi introduced AntiRollback Protection and it will creates lots of problem.. if your present ROM is 9.5.17 or below then you are safe from antirollback protection..

Getting couldn't verify update error when flashing this over 8.9.13 using updater.
Is there notification priority on the global stable MIUI 10 ? It's still not on global beta but it is on China beta .. so I'm asking

You can put back MIUI after flashing custom rom...
Do you have 720 hours before flashing now? or it is still 320 hours? (Because that's a long time to wait).
MIUI has a lot of what I call bloatware, to me its not great, I clearly bought the phone for the HW and putting the rom I like.
But then, after flashing LineageOS; I also add Gapps which also install some unwanted junks (from google). I can of course take a "lighter version" of GApps like "nano", what I'm saying it's like trial and error to see what's best. Rather than thinking about it, do!

First, you need to install 9.6.4 using the updater. Then you can install miui 10 on 9.6.4. That way you don't get the error.

First batch of update is rolling out worldwide. First batch means some random users got OTA update for feedback purpose, if everything is good then Xiaomi will roll out OTA update to everyone and download link will be available in MIUI download page. Yesterday I got OTA update.. it's really nice update so this is going to be stable release for everyone

Then you have to flash firmware less MIUI ROM or else go for official update (but it will trigger antirollback protection) I dont have any problem with antirollback. But everyone uses their mobile differently so it's up to you whether to stay on anti3 or upgrading to anti4.
My suggestion is to stay on anti3 and flash firmware less ROM or else unlock bootloader and flash any custom ROM, you can always return back to MIUI ROM and Xiaomi will give MIUI update for a longer duration(in terms of years)

Vivo NEX is the first Chinese Phone i have bought........and i must say its just so fluid......absolutely zero issues in last six months........design is so futuristic......although i hate that Vivo and oppo has started to put pop-up camera in cheaper phones......
Regarding funtouch os, imo android updates are overrated. As long as my phone work this smooth with absolutely no issue, i can't be happier. Btw Funtouch os 9 looks really good. one more thing, am i the only one who thinks stock android and its close variations looks very mundane? and oneplus 6t looks very ugly (i hate notches).
Vivo Nex S most of the case will get Fantouch 9 but in unknown time deliver.
I'm only curious about AOD if they ever bring unlimited notification app with Fantouch 9.
Current implementation is half bakes with only SMS and missed call notification like we are in 2005 and not 2018-19.
Native Dark mode is also great feature with OLED as we see more and more adaption from other OEM like Sammy,Huawei,Xiaomi,Oneplus.

Hi @Z333D,
I also own a G710N but I haven't any opportunity to update my phone; how did you get the opportunity to update to the 10 beta?
I only haven't a korean carrier since i'm not living in Korea. Do you think it can be the reason?
Thanks,
benf

Hi,
I guess that, once downloaded, the installation of the new version will be automatic and the tmp file will be deleted after the installation ends.
If you know more, pls let me know and I will be pleasure to share the file.
