My J5's 3.5mm jack is broken.
Can I utilize the USB port as an alternative for Audio output with the help of any USB Soundcard/DACs?

Tried some USB audio hardware with OTG and they work, although very low volume and when you want cheap option, it's a lottery to get a stereo one, as it tend to get mono output the time it gets lower volume. Consumes more battery too than using Bluetooth.
Better to get Bluetooth modules like from KZ's or TRN's and mod the module yourself. Or get a universal 3.5mm Bluetooth module.
I have mod my BT earphones and converted it to universal module that can power with 3 AA batteries years ago when I still have my J500H with broken jack.
Take note that both BT and USB will make FM never work if you still listen to FM.

Hello!
When I plug my Touch Pro into an active Adapt carholder the sound output of my touch is forced to the charger (no sound output anymore on my mobile).
Is there any way around this? Any registry setting?
Or maybe remove some of the pins from the mini-usb connector on the charger?
Try getting HTC's official dongle which plugs into the USB port and gives you several connectors;
USB for charging
3.5mm headphone socket
2.5mm mini-headphone socket
USB for HTC's original supplied headphones
If you use this, you can plug in headphones at the same time as charging. I use it to route sound through to my car stereo so I can use the phone as an MP3 player and Sat-Nav.
If you don't use the headphone sockets, sound still comes out through the main speaker on the phone.
Hmm I have one of those, but the car charger I use is a slide-in holder, so there won't be much room for the dongle
Microphone unuseable when plugged into stereo
I use the usb dongle adaptor in my car to push sound through the stereo, however this disables the HTC Touch Pro microphone so although I can hear people calling in (through the car speakers) they cannot hear me.
I think it is because the phone thinks the headphones are plugged in and that I'd use the headphone microphone.
Does anyone have a tweak which would allow the phones microphone to remain in action when using the dongle?
Many thanks

I don't have that problem at all, my phone's microphone works fine while using the USB dongle with a 3.5mm jack plugged into it, connected to my car stereo.
Are you using HTC's official dongle, the one with the 3.5mm, 2.5mm USB power and USB headphone sockets?
It works fine for me!
I would like the easiest in car audio possible while charging. I have a couple of questions related to the audio output of the razr hd:
1. Would a y cable work with this phone? Im thinking something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Charger...ader_Chargers_Sync_Cables&hash=item53f0a73387
1a. If so is the audio out a line-out or would it be the same as the headphone audio?
2. Is the bluetooth audio out a line-out signal or is it compressed like the headphone audio?
3. Any ever try something like this? http://gromaudio.com/store/usb_adapters/vw_seat_skoda_usb_ipod_adapter_direct_digital_interface.html I only have mtp mode on via usb now so I dont know if this would work as a direct connection.

I'd probably recommend the motorola cable such as this: http://www.motorola.com/us/consumer...icle-Docks/m-Custom-Audio-Cable,en_US,pd.html
Keep in mind that any motorola car docks will have the separation build into the dock, so it'll have a microusb port for charging and a headphone jack for connection to a car stereo. That way you can keep the dock connected and not worry about plugging in cables. As for signal type through the usb, I really have no idea. Maybe someone else can answer that.
Edit: According to this post: http://forums.androidcentral.com/bionic-accessories/118004-bionic-car-mount-y-cable.html#post1318683 there's no volume control on the usb line out, which leads me to believe it's a line level output and not amplified like the headphone jack.

I had great success with a FM transmitter powered by a cigarette charge. It also had a an extra mini usb cable to charge the phone. The FM transmitter is connected to the 3.5 mm jack. I streamed music with Spotify and used Google Maps for navigation. I did not try to connect the phone for calls with bluetooth!

Thanks for that. I guess in the end it doesnt really matter as if its not a line-out there isnt anything i can do about it. The only thing i wonder now is if there are any direct usb connections that that will allow me to control the music from my in dash cd player. Thatd be the tits.
I've been using a Motorola for the past 2 years and upgraded to a faster dual core (Huawei Ascend P1 LTE U9202L), and faster quad core (Blu Quattro HD 4.5 D450) - both run on ICS 4.0.4, stock ROM (but rooted), but both have the same problem with the 3.5mm stereo jack. I did not have this issue with my previous phones and have no idea why the behavior is so dysfunctional. On both devices, plugging in the 3.5mm aux jack into my stereo does not work. It does not detect as a headset and just outputs through the phone speaker. However, on both devices, plugging in ANY headset, and the phones detect and output audio appropriately.
However, plugging in a 3.5mm aux cable into a car stereo does not work at all. It won't even show the headset icon in the status bar. I've used several cables, in several different cars, but all no love, while iphones and other phones in the house work just fine. This is with both 3 conductor and 4 conductor stereo cables. With the Blu Quattro however, I found a setting in Sound called "Hi-Fi Mode" which enables the phone to specifically output audio through the 3.5mm jack to an external stereo system. If I plug in the aux cable to my car, nothing goes. Enable Hi-Fi Mode, and then I magically get audio output.
What in the hell is Hi-Fi mode and is that something standard to ICS? Is there a software fix where I can just plug in the stereo aux cable like every other normal phone out there, and have it automatically output properly instead of enabling this funky Hi-Fi mode? It's really annoying because I need to use this device for work as well where we sometimes use the Square Reader. That thing won't even detect on either phone!
At the moment, I'm considering buying one of those USB to 3.5mm jack dongles that I've seen phones come with, that don't have a 3.5mm jack. In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
Many Thanks in Advance,
Chuck
Hi. The audio is okay on the phone. Good with earphones but okay when I use the headphone jack to my car stereo input. Why not bluetooth? Its because direct connect provides the best sound. NOW HEAR THIS. I plugged in my essential phones usb head jack adapter (essential phone has no headphone jack but they do provide a USB C headphone jack dongle) and its like a WOW. I couldn't believe how much the quality of the audio improved. I am talking about tremendous improvement. Like a different phone WOW. Now whether it was due to essential having a dac chip in the dongle (I think it does) I have no clue. I was shocked because normally the question would be why does a dac chip USB C headphone cable work on a phone with a headphone jack? Did Moto decide at the last design phase was to include a built in jack? The dac cables only supposed to work on phone like the essential or the google pixel 2 etc if I am correct.. Well i am da.... sure glad it works on the Moto G6. How you proceed with what you get/prefer to purchase is up to you. I don't know what the end result will be because I truly don't know. The one I have from essential worked miracle wonders. I only suspect it will work with other USB C dongles with a dac chip. Man, i am digging this phones audio improvement. I am like WOW.
Check it out with something like Viper installed and disable Dolby for a little while to see if that also improves the sound. I use an aux cord to play music in my car as well the Viper HiFi Magisk module on top of tweaking some of my head unit settings, and it puts out some of the best sound for music. Can get my old 2004 Carolla to sound like it has a 10-11" sub in it just from the stock stereos and a Pioneer head unit ;p
Not really that big of a surprise, considering that my old Moto E4 would use a pair of USB-A headphones plugged into a OTG adapter. Feel free to call me out, but isn't the USB-C headphone dongle just getting talked to by the phone like a USB sound card?
Most newer (and some older) phones are all capable of USB audio routing. Just take a look in developer options to see some settings.
So, I have an interesting issue. I think it is a deep seated Android one, so I'm not liking my chances but......
Setup:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ ---> Dell WD15 USB dock (I have also tried a plain old USB-C Hub)
Android 11, with latest updates possible.
When I connect my USB DAC (a Grace SDAC) which connects to my headphone amp - it works perfectly. Android shows the DAC in 'media' as a "Headset"
When I connect my ModMic Wireless microphone's USB dongle, the DAC stops working and switches to the tablets internal speakers
When I connect a 3.5mm mic to the doc's headset 3.5mm jack the DAC stops working and switches to the tablets internal speakers
Some apps dont seem to work with the modmic wireless. Some dont work unless I plug in the USB dongle while the app is running - That's app problems, I get that
All Apps seem to support using the mic via the 3.5mm jack.
The opposite is also true, if I have a mic connected (USBor 3.5mm) then connect the DAC, the DAC works, but the mic stops and switches to the tablet internal mics.
What I seem to have found is that it is impossible, in android, to use both a USB DAC and any kind of microphone.
Has anyone had this kind of thing working before? Is there something I can do/try? are there logs or something I can look at which might help here?
I'd love to get this working, but I dont think thats possible... I would like to know why or see some real detail behind why it won't work..
Thanks!!
