Customize Navigation Bar buttons - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I understand most people are transitioning to the pill nav bar or to the full on gestures and getting rid of the navigation bar, however i have been looking for something to customize the buttons on the navigation bar(back, home, menu). I've currently been using Vivid Navbars in Substratum lite but i was wondering if there are any other options people have found for customizing the appearance of their navigation bar buttons? Is this something people are really even spending effort on now-a-days?
Currently on OOS 10.0.2(GM1917) and Vivid Navbars has been working with no problems, just wondered if there is more variety out there that i haven't found yet.
Thanks for any inputs

custom nav bar module

I want to go stock with art but i cant find any nav bar mods that are even close to the nav bar mods on mahdi rom. After hours of tinkering with various roms and mods i have come to the conclusion that the only mod this phone needs is a nav bar mod. I wish i could make my own rom but thats far from me at this moment. So what im really looking for is a stock experience with art and a wide variety of nav bar mods. The stock nav bar is weak and wasting space with only three buttons. the nav bar is the control center and needs more options and more buttons. Your phone experience will be more efficient with an efficient nav bar customized to your liking. yes ive seen the nav bar app ultimate dynamic nav bar. it didnt have the first option i looked for: pull down notification tab. and who wants a nav bar that is run by an app.

Navigation Bar Color

Hi All,
This is my first time using 1+ and noticed that I can't change the nav bar color. I tried to use the NavBar app on the playstore, but the setting doesn't stick for home screen using Nova. Anyone know how to change it?
Would also like to know. Sometimes it's dark, sometimes it's light. Hate the inconsistency!
I'd rather just have it be black all the time until they can add fast app switching and swiping up on the right side for recents as options to gestures.
It appears they have made the default navbar colour white, which is incredibly annoying.
Guys, use gestures options! The only missing feature with gestures is the lack of fast switching to the latest recent app, yes...

"Just use the device in a different manner" is not a valid response to "I'd prefer the ability to x".

How to make bottom navigation bar black?

Newb here, it's always white and ugly. How to do it no root?
You need to root then install Xposed then in Xposed search BlackNavigationBar
Download the app called Navbar apps

I strongly recommend removing the navigation bar all together and enable gestures, at least try it. I liked it so much I cant go back to nav bars again

Gestures are trash. Tried for a week
Meizu did it best years ago.
Navbar apps is CLOSE to working (not great) and I do NOT want to root. All that does is lead to problems. We need OP to add system level control over navbar color, that would be awesome (if possible)
I use navbar while trying also to get used to gestures.
It does not need root, BTW. And it has some nice customisations. But sometimes, it gets forgotten, and the customisations don't apply (Which often resolves after a few moments but it just means it's not perfect).
There is also a module that can detect when keyboard is open, so you can choose a keyboard appropriate colour, rather than in apps like Facebook having bright white navbar against my material dark themed keyboard.
Gestures could be quite nice, but I need more control of them. For example, I find the home gesture and back gestures get mixed up sometimes. I would rather have one side of the phone dedicated to home (right side, until about 25% from the edge) and the rest to act as back.
Also, I still have some apps that use menu button, which, with buttons, can be mapped to long press recent tasks, but has no equivalent gesture. It could have a similar gesture to how you get to recent apps, but from the back button side. It would keep the gesture logic and adds a function that works in certain contexts.
Until gestures have the controls I need, I will continue using navbar. Coming from an Honor phone, it's really great that it works, even if it sometimes forgets to activate. (Huawei's os has this magical way to overwrite any customisations that the user might like).
Sent from my OnePlus 6 using XDA Labs
Also the hide the nav bar option gives you transparent nav bar.

correct. I don't understand why OnePlus didn't do it like that instead.
f you have Xposed Systemless and Magisk installed (requires root and an unlocked bootloader obviously, also assuming this is for the Oneplus 5, 5T, or 6) install the Xposed Module "BlackNavigation Bar for Oneplus 5T, Oneplus 6" by yuanwofei. Works great and makes it black instead.

Samsung doesn't let us change the color of the white navbar buttons-> Result:Burn in!

Samsung doesn't let us change the color of the white navbar buttons-> Result:Burn in!
I really cannot understand the decision of Samsung not to provide the option of changing the color of the white navbar icons.
I use black themes and wallpapers for 1 year now. Black wallpapers and themes appear great on amoled screens and also help the battery life.
In order for the navigation bar to match my black interface, i turned the navigation bar to black.
The problem is that all these months the navbar is black but the navbar icons are white.
So after 1 year of light use i got a burn in of the icons of the navbar and i have to ask for a screen replacement.
If Samsung had given me choice, i would have set dark grey color for the navbar icons and i wouldn't had burn in. Someone can say that it's my fault because i turn the navbar to black so the contrast with the white icons was too big. Others could say "why didn't you hide completely the navbar? To these type of questions i reply with a question : Was it so difficult for Samsung to give an option to choose a color for the icons of the navbar???? Is it bad to prefer black interface on amoled displays which have exactly this advantage compared to the lcds???
I really hope that someone in Samsung will see this post. It's the first time i am thinking of giving up the amoled displays. In the past i didn't have such a problem because the navbar was outside the screen. Now with the bezeless screens, the navbar burn in issue is more easy to appear.
Just hide navbar or remove it with root/adb

If you read my post, you ll see that the meaning of it is not the solution "just hide it". And if it is more practical for me to have it shown as it is by default? What is the answer of Samsung on this? "Well, we couldn't provide the option to change the color of the navigation buttons, we haven't the knowledge that developers of play store have ( there are navigation bars which let the user change the color of the buttons), sorry for the burn-in" ???
Has anyone totally disabled the navbar and replaced it with one of the play store? I personally hide the stock, installed one from the play store, but when i enter an app, the interface of the app doesn't move up, so the buttons of the navigation bar fall inside the app's interface.
I disabled the navigation bar using this methos and works perfectly, is not even complicated.
Navigation Gestures
When i used black nav bar i noticed it's area was a little bit brighter color after that I removed it completely
I changed color to black.
Samsung want that your screen will burn and you buy a always the newest phone.
I use Gesture Controls app and disable the nav bar. However one solution is you can download an overlay that changes the buttons to the Pixel buttons and sets there color to a dark grey. That's what I had been using before the gesture control. Numerous options on Substratum as well. Good luck!

Navbar and gestures - automation with spen

Hello,
Have you been trying to automate changing the navigation metod while using spen?
I use navigation gestures but I want to have nav bar when using spen.
This have changed since android 10 and old tasker task doesnt works for me now.
I see in tasker that when im changing navigation metod in settings these settings are beeing changed :
navigation_bar_gesture_while_hidden
navigation_mode
But even after setting up this correctly i still cant see navbar when detaching spen. The funny thing is that in settings it looks like im using nav bar navigation.
Has anyone been successful with this? Switching between navigation buttons and gestures would be super helpful when using S Pen.
I can trigger tasks on detaching/inserting spen but cannot show/hide navbar. Modifying the two aforementioned settings does not seem to have any effect.
Maybe try searching/posting in a Tasker forum, if it's Android 10 related I'm sure it's come up there.
