You might be able to root with magisk if you can find a copy of the boot.ing
See if your firmware version on same software channel

Do you know if the linked blankflash file is an "official" leak by Motorola or some kind of selfbuild/modified one like the albus blankflash for potter?
I think about buying a Moto G8 Plus and all things like TWRP, blankflash and active development are important points for me.
Do you own one and would you recommend it?
Running a Moto G5+ at the moment.

I don't know, nor how you could tell if it's official.
As quickly as new firmware has been available on that site, they must have access to Motorola servers.

In which tab am I supposed to find this information?

Is it the device or general Android 'bug' that notification volume becomes insanely loud when playing media?
I have to turn on do-not-disturbe when listening to music, otherwise I get a heart attack when I get notifications...
Also, it bothers me that the volume buttons control media playback volume overall by default. It would make more sense if volume buttons controlled ring/notification volume by default, and media volume only when playing media.. I have sent these issues to Motorola support..
Other than little things like this, I'm really satisfied with the device.

Guys. I made a firmware mistake and got a brick. Flew bootloaders in a/b slots, and now I don't know how to fix it. Are there any options to bring the phone back to life? I tried to recover the phone with a Smart assistant, but I got a "flash permission denied" error. Thank you for your answers
upd: Found the blankflash, but it doesn't find my device on launch.

The phone only works in fastboot mode. I can see it in device lists via ADB. Is it real to restore it?

I used Motorola smart assistance to unbrick, when i brick my g8+ trying to root.
And i have a question. How much Disk space uses system? System using 21gb after a Reebot system using 35gb. Whats wrong?

Hi, I'm having a bit of an issue. I've rooted my moto g8 with magisk and have been using it for a few months but that update notification kept popping up so I tried looking for a method to install an OTA update. I decided to use magisks "Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA)" option. I don't think I modified the /system or /vendor image I did reinstall the firmware once using "Motorola_Moto_G8_Plus_XT2019-2_DOHA_RETBR_9.0_PPI29.65-43" other than that I didn't. So I first restored my image through magisk and didn't reboot I then used the "Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA)" option and rebooted. My phone has since been unresponsive and won't respond to holding the power button and volume down button to load into recovery it won't show up under adb device either... Is my phone irrecoverable now?
Edit: I took off the back cover to unplug and plug back in the battery in the hopes of some response and it didn't do anything...

Hey i hard bricked my g8 plus. I forget to unlock oem bootloader and now i cant start the phone. when flash the stock rom the screen stay in "your device is corrupt. it cant be trusted and will not boot"
What can i do? the phone cant start and cant unlock bootloader

Seeing as this is Pinned and I See no point in creating a thread just to get it lost in the Cluster.
if you want to add this
All_IN_ONE.zip - 22.59 MB
To the OP for resources
its a zip containing drivers/recoveries/adb.exe/fastboot.exe and most importantly a nice script to allow end user to do anything booting different recovery, flashing different recovery, reboot tools, and steps and links on how to Root and S-Off
If you feel its useful add to OP, if not no hard feelings.

Yes please! I need this as well.
Asked in another thread and got a response from someone saying to get back to stock recovery you "do the same thing you did to get the custom recovery, just use the stock image instead".
Not so helpful without a link to a stock recovery image
Still hoping to find this somewhere.

Look through QBKings videos found here. Please note, his videos, on the M8, are all listed in the black box on the right.
All of his videos regarding the M8 can be found in this link. You may find what you need in his tutorials.
To unbox:
MOD edit: This thread is for videos on helpful how to's for this device. A unboxing video is nothing more then a review of the device.
Great Information
:good:
I'm wondering if "how to videos" that discuss rooting, custom recoveries, custom ROMs, etc. should also include a warning about accepting OTA updates?
Lots of Galaxy S3 and S4 users unknowingly accepted OTA updates to find their phones were now hopelessly locked down and no custom recoveries could be installed.
I personally believe ALL carriers want their phones locked down securely and do NOT want anyone to be able to mod a phone in any way and with this belief comes the thought that any phone such as the M8 will sooner or later receive an OTA that will lock the bootloader.
A warning about OTAs couldn't hurt anything...
Hi ppl, looking into how to threads, I am still looking for a way to disable SIM from unknown source msg on my m8, how can I do that?

Depends. As with other phones, the cost to upgrade for some is a big deal or just don't choose to. I am no developer, but in the past Nexus phones from personal experience, they were open enough. Google welcomes tinkering. Just the fact work has already been done on the bootloader and for root is impressive. But remember, the developers all volunteer their time to this site. We should be grateful. Just my 2 cents.
Noob questions since they're allowed.

What is a kernel? Is a very generic Android question
try Www.rootjunky.com he has some general Android videos
bootloader will need to be unlocked before flashing different kernels, and still will need to be careful about compatibility

Remember Windows 95? Remember how it ran on DOS 3.1 (a command prompt)?
A kernel is like DOS and Nougat 7.1 is like windows but Android is based on Linux, not Microsoft Windows...
A kernel is like a command engine that goes between hardware and the upper level user software.
That's simplified, but so it goes..
The boot image does hold the kernel, and some other stuff perhaps. The kernel needs to load pretty much as soon as powering device, then the Operating System loads

When you're in the "Downloads app" you are actually looking directly at the /sdcard/Downloads/ folder. That download app is just a simple file browser. If you hit the upper left menu button in the downloads app, you'll see what I mean. A list of locations.. It isn't just a history log but a browser, to repeat for emphasis....
Does that make sense?
I think you might be able to clear any history or cache from a web browser app, but I don't think that's what you're talking about.
Cheers, nerB

I feel like this may be a stupid question but is it possible to edit build prop with the current root method for Google pixel? I have tried using a few different root file managers and editing the build prop, but every time I reboot the build prop reverts back to its original form. Is there any other way to edit the build prop yet? Maybe using adb? But how would I go about doing that?

There will be, I'm sure. Even if you could find a way to do it, I wouldn't yet. The development community is still starting up, and if something goes wrong, you may not be able to fix it. Have patience, these things will come, they always do.

What about the camera quality? It's worst than with the original ROM? Or which other ROM can I put?
So, I received today this device, first impressions are very positive, just one thing I can't understand is about wi-fi: it doesn't work properly in my opinion, my previous G2 held up enough good wi-fi signal (like 2-3 "tiers") with a distance of 6-7 meters between the router and the phone, now with the Mi 4 I have only one. Obviously the connection is affected by low wi-fi signal.

Hi
If you want to have the same camera quality as that of MiUi, I assure you that you won't. The picture quality is dizzy, blunt and not so clear as it used to be on MiUi's stock camera. Still, I'd recommend using a custom camera app.

Hi,
I'm a complete noob when it comes to phones!
I have a proper MI 4LTE (from China - I know it's a proper one as I was given it by the company itself whilst in China!)
I would like to get rid of everything on the phone, especially all the MIUI stuff (which I assume is the OS?).
I'd like to put on the latest official proper Android OS that is compatible with the phone. Can I somehow format it and download the OS from Google's Android website somewhere and put that on? E.g. Nougat or whatever the latest compatible one is.
Thanks,

I have a Xiaomi MI4 running MIUI 7, and I would like to install xposed modules. In the past, one could use WSM tool, but it seems to be off development. Could you explain how can I enjoy xposed modules now?

Thank you for your reply. However, I am trying to install the adb drivers to use the fastboot, and it just won't work. under "device manager" there's no yellow exclamation mark, but when trying the command "adb devices" no device is found (the phone is connected and usb debugging is on). Tried to change the usb port but still no luck.

Eventually managed using the TWRP app alone. Another question- after installing ROMs, could I delete the update.zip file? and in case I cannot, as I have two files named like this, how would I know which one is to be deleted?
Thanks
Mi note Pattern Lock
PoseidonKing said:
Hi
If you want to have the same camera quality as that of MiUi, I assure you that you won't. The picture quality is dizzy, blunt and not so clear as it used to be on MiUi's stock camera. Still, I'd recommend using a custom camera app.

Stuck at my logo after fastboot oem unlock
Hi,
first time posting.
I think I have made a bit of a noob mistake. I am completely new to the world of rooting, custom roms etc... (you get the idea). I was looking at getting started with all of this and I read somewhere that to unlock the bootloader on the Xiaomi Mi 4, all you needed to do was type the command
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
.
I did this and it completed successfully, however now when booting I get to the Mi logo and then the phone turns off after a a few seconds. I can still get into fastboot mode (power and volume -) and also the stock Mi recovery (power and volume +). I also tried relocking the bootloader (i think) by tyrping
Code:
fastboot oem lock
.
When i use the Mi flash tool to flash a stock rom, it completes in 1 second and nothing changes with the booting situation. (before and after using fastboot oem unlock)
Now, i assume, that i shouldn't have used
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
in the way that I did.
Is there any hope of recovering my device. I am a complete noob at this kind of stuff and to make things worse, i attempted this when i was tired. (didnt make things any better).

could not be parsed errors can be tricky to figure out.
It could be an incompatible version
Is the device rooted?
do you have any apps running, that alter the system?

hi guys!!! anyone have Globa rom for redmi 6?
Yes same!
Can I stock global rom over Chinese?
Thanks
Stock Android over MIUI 9?
Can I use a stock android rom instead of the Miui 9 rom? not the biggest fan of it. Thanks
If redmi 6 is treble supported I can flash any treble ROM right?
Managed to install the gcam? was about to get the mi 6x but honestly I don't need a good camera at all, phones are being way too big lately. Therefore this should be enough for me needs.
impatient to have a lineage rom for this device!
Is it possible to enable fast charging? 5v/1A takes nearly 3 hours to fully charge
I really prefer slow charging. The fast charge is not good for batteries.
I have a Poco f1, and the notification icons don't show up in the status bar.
Does the redmi pro 6 show em?

not yet.
we have to wait for that somebody works on a stable lineageos rom.
I check every day to see if a new android stock rom exists.
2nd day with the phone 3gb 32gb global version, fell free to ask me.
First impression with the lastest global stable V9.6.19.0.OCGMIFD (MIUI9), random micro stuttering with most apps, miui ui fault? Battery from 100% at 7:00am to midnight 11:00pm 22%. Very moderate using, answering short phone calls, 30 min of youtube, about 2 hours of spotify, brief chats. Tiny fonts overall, like the xiami mi 5. Time to get a better part time job for the pocophone? Maybe..
i've recently "bricked" the phone by trying to update it and accidentally rebooted it in process. There is a bootloop now and message 'system has been destroyed' MiFlashPro can see my phone and even start to flash, but not flashing (just text 'verifying complete' which stays there after checking rom and ring is spinning, and nothing happens) Fastboot with MiFlash doesn't work because it's can't find flash_all.bat (which i can't find too in archives with drivers named Platform-tools (adb/fastboot) (there were this files earlier) I'm really stuck with this ... and don't know what to do
Hi. Can anyone suggest how to increase speaker volume in Redmi 6. Ringtone is not loud enough in it and placement of speakers further increase the issue

Unfortunately this method won't work as there is no up_param.Lz4 file in the Bootloader on all SnapDragon devices.

In general, modifying the boot screens of a device involves rooting or jailbreaking the device, which can void its warranty and potentially cause problems if done improperly. Additionally, modifying the software of a device may be against the terms of service of the manufacturer or carrier, and can also lead to security vulnerabilities.
That being said, if you are still interested in removing logos from boot screens, you may be able to find tutorials or custom ROMs on online forums or websites dedicated to Android modding. These resources may be able to provide more detailed instructions on how to modify your specific device's software.
However, it is important to proceed with caution and do thorough research before attempting to modify your device's software, and to be aware of the potential risks and consequences involved.
