Google contacts sync not available / not working - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Android 10
GM1913
Google Contacts sync isnt available.
Tried to delete and re-add account.
I dont find a setting to enable it.

Do you have Google Contacts installed? The default contacts that comes with the phone is not from Google. Once you install it the contacts sync automatically... as long as you make sure that they are being stored in your Google account and NOT locally in the phone itself.

[Q] Contacts not syncing to Gmail after initial sync -- Samsung Captivate

Hello,
I recently obtained a Samsung Captivate and synced my contacts (through the stock "sync" feature in Android) from my phone to Gmail. This worked very well, however after this initial sync, new contacts that I have added to my phone have not synced with Gmail. Help? Also, I don't know if this matters, but I use k-9 mail instead of the default Gmail app. However I have tried also having the default gmail account on and it doesn't seem to have helped
Anyone? It's getting to be a bit of a problem
I'm having a similar problem
I just got the Samsun Fascinate yesterday and I'm having the same problem. My contacts synced fine from google/gmail but when I added a new phone number into the phone yesterday it never synced up. I was able to add new accounts in the google/gmail and have those sync up on my phone.

When you create new contact are you ticking Google on the "save contact to" pop up?
good day.
Nope. I got that figured out now though. Thanks for the tip!
I think google broke something somewhere, since yesterday automatic sync in gmail got broken, not only for me but I've seen others having the same problem.
I am on the international version of the Galaxy S
I realize this is an old thread, but my problem is almost identical, so I don't want to clutter the board with a new thread...
Captivate. Stock. US.
My contacts have NEVER sync'ed upbound to Google account.
In Contacts>Menu>more>Accounts, sync IS turned on.
By the way, the Google account has NO contacts in it. And I don't need the arrangement to move contacts from google to phone, only from phone to google (as a back-up).
Am I missing some step to make it start syncing?
Here is another thought...all my contacts are in SIM; do they have to be in phone memory for sync to work?
Apologize for the bump here, but this problem remains...no sync from phone up to google--only the other way.
I enter new contacts (generally phone numbers and name only) on the phone--not 1st in gmail. So, I need for PHONE-ENTERED contacts to sync upbound to goggle, but it does not do it.
Is there an app that makes this work, or is it just a Samsung/ATT/google fail with no fix?
If the contact is not flagged as a google contact then there is no way to get it to sync to google. So to remedy that you need to delete all phone based contacts and reneter them as google contacts. Use the below steps.
From the main contact screen hit the menu key then select more then settings then save new contact and select google and all contacts will now be saved as google contacts and thus sync both ways.

Hmmmm...if you do this (make all contacts be "google" contacts, do they reside on your phone or only "up" at google. IOW what if you have no data net connection at all (phone or wifi), are your contacts still on your phone?
Have you tried logging in @ http://www.google.com/contacts? Export My Contacts to a local file in Outlook CSV format. Then use iCSV Address Book in Android market to import them from the local csv file.

I have no contacts at google--they are all on the phone...actually on the SIM; I want them to go up to google, thus your suggestion will not work (nothing at google TO export).

then try it the other way around. Export your contacts in your phone to a csv file then upload them from within google/contacts... did I say that right?

How to get google contacts into phone...

So I sync'd with my google account and it imported all my contacts, the only problem now is that I do not want my google account sync'd however if I delete it, it will delete all of my contacts with it off the phone. Is there a way I can transfer all google contacts currently in my phone contacts to sim without third party app?
I'm assuming that when you say you don't want you're google account synced you mean your mail right? Because you do want your google contacts? If this is indeed what you want, settings> accounts & sync> your google account> uncheck everything besides contacts. If that's not what you want, can you try explaining in another way so I can help.
Hello, I do not want my google account sync' anymore even though I have already disabled mail and everything else to be sync'd I do not want my google account associated with this phone. however I have no choice because whenever I try to delete the google account off my phone its says all of the contacts will erase with it too. I have been trying to find how to copy all of my google contacts to the sim but no apps have been working
Phone>menu> people> menu> export to sd card. Once exported, go through the same steps but instead choose import to from sd card and choose phone as the location. You may now not sync google account while keeping your contacts. Keep i'm mind that new contacts will be erased if you do a factory reset as google us not syncing and backing then up anymore.

Contacts wont sync!

I need some help here...............
I am running stock mango. Phone wont sync all my contacts with any 1 client. Some are on Google, some on Facebook, and some yet on Live/Hotmail.
How do I push all of my contacts to one place for off phone storage?
Is there anyway to get all of my contacts to sync somewhere away from the phone in the event I lose my phone or all data is lost?
There must be something somewhere????
Btw, syncing contacts to Windows Live is a nightmare.
Now since you mentioned Google, I suggest you sync/backup your contacts there.
Settings, (system tab) e-mail+accounts, Google, check the box for Contacts
If you have others, uncheck Contacts in all other accounts.
Now go to Settings (applications tab) people, filter my contact list and choose whatever you like but make sure you uncheck "Windows Live".
Sync, and all your contacts should be backed in Gmail (check Contacts there from a PC).
Alternatively, if you can save your contact list as a .CSV file and import directly in Gmail (in your desktop's browser).
Thanks for the help!!
The only account that I have a checkbox for contacts in is Google, even windows live doesnt have a checkbox.
I went into setting>application>people>filter and unchecked windows live from sync and tried again, still wont load.
I have some of my contacts stored in Google, but not ALL of them!
How do I create a .csv file on my phone and export into google?
It's normal to see the checkbox only in Gmail.
Make sure on PC you check properly your Gmail account in Contacts, you should see "My Contacts" and "Imported MM/DD/YY" if you import them via CSV. Also, You might want to make sure the contacts from your SIM are on the phone (might be why you're missing some contacts).
Alternatively, you can edit your contacts yourself in Gmail.
This guide might prove very useful to you for transferring, importing, exporting contacts.
Still no dice. Cant find how to access my contacts via SIM since doing the Mango update.
This is getting frustrating. No one is having the same problem with the Arrive?
Import or Export ?
I am sorry but I am bit lost in the conversation.
What is that you want to do ?
Import Contacts in the Phone or Export Contacts from the Phone to somewhere else ?
I want my contacts exported somewhere, that way if my phone crashes or is lost I have all of my contacts stored offline somewhere safe.
WP7 says this is done automatically through Windows Live and Google......its not happening on my phone, only SOME contacts are stored in each

I've historically had the opposite experience. I think Gmail contacts & calendars are both pretty inconsistent, and my Live account has been 100x better to sync with. I even had issues on Android with Gmail contacts/calendar.
Still cant sync contacts or calendar with Gmail........any suggestions? I cant be the only one with this issue, can I?
Is there an App for Google yet on Mango?
I posted this elsewhere on the forums a moment ago and it relates to getting google contacts to sync with my Nokia Lumia 800.
I set it all up nicely and then found that none of my google phone numbers were synced. I had a similar experience with my old android phone (well the opposite problem actually)
I fixed this by highlighting all my contacts in google on a PC and making sure they were all in the "my contacts" group as that seems to be the only group that the phone will sync. Once done, all of my contacts were there.
Don't sync the google calendar so cant comment
enjoy!

Sync Facebook data into Gmail contacts

Something that has been bugging me is the way Facebook and Google don't play nicely when it comes to contact syncing.
In the past it wasn't really a big issue as I only used one device and everything just sync'd in the background, now as I prefer to manage all of my contacts via the gmail contacts page, rather than via my phone I set about trying to figure out how I could get both Gmail and Facebook contacts to sync to my Google account.
I tried a few of the tools available, such as ubersync, contacts+ and haxsync, these all do a great job of mixing your Facebook contacts in with your gmail contacts on your device, but they are still treated as seperate when syncing back up to gmail.
I found a way to get around this by using Google's sync along with haxsync and a bit of dirty ol manipulation, and I thought I'd share it if others are wanting to do the same. I take no responsibility if you mess things up, so if you are not confident then make sure you make backups before you start.
Also before you start just realise you will loose any group sorting you may have done but this can be edited again via the gmail contacts pagee quite easily)
First of all, sync all the gmail contacts into your android device from google.
Install Haxsync from the Google Play store (contacts+ and ubersync may give the same results)
Goto advanced settings for haxsync and set things up the way you want (I selected to have the htcdata backup entry put into the notes field, but this is optional)
now sync with haxsync to get all the facebook details and wait for the haxsync to finish.
Now you have all the data into your device if you look at an entry you might see some of the users data is listed under the google account, and other parts are listed under the haxsync account. From here on only the google data will sync back up to google.
Now to perform some manipulation
Go to settings on your android device(s) and disable syncing for both Google and haxsync. (note I said device(s) this means disable sync on all other device you might have that also sync to Google)
Go into People on your main Android device and export your contacts to storage, this will make a vcf file on the Android device containing all of the data for each person (minus the account it's associated with)
On the android device(s) go to settings - applications - contacts storage and clear data- (remember to do this for all android device syncing to google)
load gmail in your web browser on your PC, go to contacts, select them all and delete them.
Now go back into People on the Android device and import the data you saved to your storage.
You will now see you have merged the data that was previously seperated by the gmail and haxsync accounts
Go back into settings on the Android device and re-enable sync for gmail.
Wait for this to finish.
once your device has synced with Google again go into gmail and select contacts
On the left of the page look under 'other contacts' select all of them and choose add to My Contacts.
Now go up to My Contacts and you can start sorting everyone into different groups again if you wish.
Now you have synced both gmail and Facebook information into your gmail account which will flow down to any other Android devices you have.
If you add more people on Facebook and want their data in gmail, you'd have to repeat this process again.
If you decide to re-enable Haxsync again you may need to manually join some of your contacts in your phone again, such as where friends also have Google+ and Facebook accounts under different names.
It's not perfect but if you have 100's of contacts / friends it saves a lot of manual data entry saving everything into gmail.
Good luck and have fun.

I can't import Google Contacts to my Mate 30 Pro

Sorry for opening this topic but I can't import my list of contacts that I have on Google.
I have the Google account activated with the Play Store, downloaded the contacts app but I can't import the contacts
It only allows me through the SIM or a vcf file ... but I have them all in my Google account (Gmail).
I have downloaded the Google Contacts app from the Play Store correctly, it works fine ... but it does NOT detect how to import my contacts that I have in my Gmail account. Yahoo detects me and others for more things.
I had to turn on my Moto X4 and export a vcf file to Huawei to access the list of my contacts ... but it is NOT the way I want.
I think I'm missing something .... ????
Any component? Any service to activate?
But it's all, everything is well installed, all apps work well, I even installed Google Services from the Play Store with all the permissions, Carrier Services, everything, Gmail, Chrome ... but I think I'm missing something for active or something.
The CONTACTS app does not access my Google contacts, it only allows me to import via vcf or SIM card.
Can someone help me please?
Thank you!
Forgot to check it to auto sync maybe?

*At the Google contacts app just allows me import my contacts list to my Huawei by a vcf card or by SIM card.
*At the Huawei Contacts app the options are as follows:
In "other accounts", I see the one from Google, and among them "Synchronize contacts", and they are.
Then, there is another section: Import / Export and it gives me 3 options:
-Import via Bluetooth.
-Import via WLAN Direct.
-Import from storage (import vCard from internal memory).
What can I do?
I had same issue and reinstalling contact apk worked for me
Envoyé de mon LIO-L29 en utilisant Tapatalk
Same issue fixed
This is what I did
Go to >settings
Then >apps
Then >Google Play Services
Then >Permissions
Then Allow all permissions.
On mine almost every permission was denied, I changed it to Allow and then Google contacts worked.
I exported my contacts from Google Contacts[1] and then imported them into the Huawei Contacts app. It worked just fine and now I have one less dependency on Google.
Max.
[1] https://contacts.google.com/ -> Export -> vCard; transfer file to phone and import into Huawei's Contacts app -> Contacts -> Settings -> Import/Export -> Import from Storage)
Google contacts on mate 30 pro
I have the same problem, I've tried everything and still have no choice to chose Google in contacts. Any ideas?
Thanks
I had the same problem and used an app in the play store called contact backup and was able to transfer the contacts over.
I've the same issue, there is no contact sync option under the Google account. I solved it by installing Google's own "Google Contact Sync". Go to apkmirror and search for the apps, install and restart phone, you should get the contact sync working.
