Almost no movement in this section....a90 5g is an amazing device and i am extremely surprised that there is absolutely no development as yet. No root and no roms....
Can someone help me why is that? :good:
i think its due to lack of 5g deployment.
Looks like we are the only 2 XDA members with the device lol as you say it is a amazing unit and hopefully in time we will get root and roms.
Make that 3 XDA members lol, we just have be patient lots of good things will come in time.....

iam not much of a gamer , on mobile at least but the games i usually play run fairly well on the a70 with minimal heat , but of course the sd 855 will be a lot bettter but tour practically paying an extra 300 dollors at least for this cpu and no headphone jack is kind of a deal breaker to me , i know it will get extinct eventually but i want to enjoy having it in my phone as long as i can .

Look it up on the official magisk website, they got a special section for Samsung phones. It's supposed to be for the Galaxy Phones with One UI and Android 9.0 or higher. Good luck!
Im on Three network Uk and got this phone on offer Dec 2019 with ultd data, mins, texts and the unltd data also includes ultd 5G when it arrives.
5G is getting launched in 9 days where i live so hopefully i will be able to update you on what its like on 5G as i havent seen anyone mention any sort of performance regarding 5G.
Especially as they are selling this at £400 I am still surprised it's not that active..

It's because we are all so happy and love our A905G with Android10 !
Well have 5G now on Three UK. Getting download speeds of between 160-200mbps. Not as high as i was expecting but 60-100% faster than 4G.
I swapped my S10 5G for a A90 5G. Prefer the flat screen, better battery life, and the SD855 compared to the Exynos. The loss of the headphone jack isn't an issue, I have plenty of dongles (I use the one that came with my Pixel2XL).
I just joined the A90 club! Only got it due to getting a great deal but quite happy with it so far. Few differences from my S8+... will post some feedback after I have used the phone for a while

how is the battery life?
Would you guys recommend me this phone over SE neo V or xperia pro?
is it worth going for this phone for its dual core and nvidia GPU?
Any help would be appreciated

Ugly? Seriously? It sexy to me. Its a good phone, but if you want more Dev support buy the 2X or wait for the Galaxy Nexus.

Better than the Sony phones. Battery life depends on hour usage. Generally lasts a day. Worth buying. Less Dev support because it launched quite late and after the S2. So not many people bought it.

I meant its UI is like their non-android phones(cheap phones)..they look alomost same...hence it doesnt feel gud
development is importart for me..i am coming from moto defy...lots of development happens over dere( 2nd rank in CyanogenMod ranking )
Galaxy R has got very good hardware..dunno y dev is so less...
HW is pretty decent! I have never had any single issue with this handset. Aftermarket development is unfortunately an Achilles heel for now, but it can change for better. FW is very good, stable, you can hardly notice any bugs. But yeah I admit touchwizz is really ugly. I came from HTC and I really preferred Sense UI. But sammy's stock roms have this advantage that they are quite easily customizable, and you don't have to be a dev to do that.

Yes they have already stopped manufacturing i guess. Yesterday sulekha tech shared the specs on their facebook page for galaxy s advance and on asking if this is a replacement for Galaxy R, they said that Galaxy R has been stopped by samsung. No more would be availaible. I think the people who got it on time are lucky.

I agree with you. It was a very nice price for such hardware and regarding the rumours about the manufacturing defects. i think as long as they have manufacturers warranty there is nothing to get worried about.
another strange thing which i noticed is that people started buying more and more R from the time it started getting out of stock. Hope development doesn't stop.
ICS is really the best thing about it and truly speaking i am not much impressed by the Galaxy S advance whcih i think would be around 25-26k indian rupees. so S2 or even the Note would be better option for buyers.
I am planning to sell my i9003 and buy a New Micromax canvas-2 A110.

See, what I have thought in deciding to buy it that My handset is a year old right now, out of warranty as well. And I am getting 9500 for it now. Later it wont be giving me 9500.
Anyhow, in A110 Screen is as good as in i9003 and its huge 5" screen. Sound is amazing and Its a dual Core 1GH phone. And in 9500 as well. ICS 4.0.4
Thought in same price without any extra expense I am getting all this.

@Shail ... There's a saying "Mehenga ek baar roye, sastaa baar baar roye". Rough english translation "If you buy a expensive product, you'll be crying just once, but if you buy a cheap product, you'll be crying more often".
On micromax, i feel they make kinda good phones, but lacks developer support. As far as i know you, i'm sure you're are flashoholic like me and will miss new roms that you can only find with mainstream phones.
Again, I did buy and try a lot of micromax(a61 a45)/zte(dont remember model name)/spice(mi280 and the new ones etc) phones for my staff, but personally use only Nokia or Sammy hardwares only. These budget phones get unexplained heavy lag after few months of usage. Maybe cheap hardware or bad os development from their engineers.
End Note: Keep your SL. We're in for good times, and after being patient for so long we cannot afford to lose a good user like you. If you want buy the micromax phone, and after couple months if you still think its better than SL, get rid of the SL. I'm sure latter wont happen.

not worth, its only a cheap china phone, cooked on mk6577.
first off all - warrianty. will you get fully supported and fully covered?
2. accesories. extra, extended batterie? covers? will you get them, if you need of course
3. dev support. it highly cutted ICS, so if you going to get some other roms - forget it. not mention about miui, aokp, themes, etc.
4. build quility. are you getting same as everyday brand? net mention of extra parts, like digitalizers, screens, oards, cameras, speakers
5. if you still thinkin goin cheap - buy smth like this
will save some extra dollars.
6. value. just think, what selling price would be after a year? 10%, less?
good luck

You Guys are making me very confused and even emotional too.......Actually I too love my phone yar....!!
Need to think again I guess.
All they said are so true. I was tempted to get a nexus, almost bought it. Then the news about kernel 3 made me hesitate. I took some time to think, I increased my research on that phone especially about the negative side, to not get blinded by the awesome specs and awfully low price. Suddenly I saw a HUGE downside of that phone.
Wow, I could have wasted on that fragile phone instead of my SL.
So, now I'm proud of my current phone. My first ever Android phone.
Oh I remember the first time using Odin, flashing XXLE4 firmware on my phone....

Do NOT take the Micromax Canvas 2. It has a ****ty MTK processor. I had a MTK6516 based phone that was absolutely horrible. Games wouldn't play properly and would have distorted color, slow poor performance. It couldn't even play music without skipping. It was also marketed as dual-core but it isn't.
As the Micromax Canvas 2 also has an MTK processor, it might also have a "fake" dual-core.
The Radio/Modem CPU is an ARM7, probably an ARMv3 or v4.
Often advertised as dual core, but this is misleading, the 2nd core runs the radio and will not be usable for applications. In fact, any proper smartphone has a separate smaller core for the GSM radio, so real dual core phones in fact have 3 cores

You might want to do some research on the exact MTK processor in the Canvas 2, maybe it doesn't have these problems.

Hello, all.
I've recently discovered Huawei and their larger-than-standard phablets. Before now, I only wished for a 7"-8" tablet with a cellular radio... Now I come to find out... It's a thing.
I've just started looking into how to get one of these behemoths into my hands... Sadly it seems I may have to ditch Sprint (CDMA) to do so... But to realize such a huge phone... I'd do it in a second.
Can anyone tell me about Huawei's supply chain into the USA? How do I go about buying one?
Also, the devices I'm looking at seem to be a bit on the old side... The Mediapad X2 being the most current. Is this correct? Am I not seeing something new about to hit the scene?
Educate me. I'm kinda over using strictly what my carrier says I can.
(I've just realized this post likely belongs in Q&A. My apologies. Please move it if you see fit. Thank you.)

You can buy one from newegg.com. It still ships from China but you're secured through Newegg,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA86Y4A21232&cm_re=mediapad_x2-_-9SIA86Y4A21232-_-Product
The X2 is over a year old but is sill the king of the 7 inch phablet. We have roms for it and help if you need it. It doesn't matter which model you get as far as LTE goes because all models will only give you 3G or HSPA+.

Awesome! Thanks for this reply. Honestly, I'm kinda glad I'm late to this party. I imagine I can pick up the x2, which is still an upgrade for me, for less than premium price.
Bummer on the GSM only thing, but again, I'm not sure it matters that much. I do stream a LOT of Google music via unlimited 4g LTE, so that may hurt... So torn. Maybe I score a hotspot for the car... Hmm.
Hspa is fast enough for any streaming music or video. I had LTE with my previous big phone, Xperia Z Ultra and I don't miss that at all. This monster 16:10 display is amazing but the phone is not perfect.
Some of us have issues with the GPS suddenly not working until a restart of the phone. Still not sale to figure out what triggers that issue.
Also 5Ghz wifi is much weaker than my other devices and the same seems to apply to Bluetooth.
No deal breakers for me but just thought I would mention it.
The only thing I miss is NFC really

That is fantastic news. Is HSPA similar/equal to a 3G CDMA network? Or maybe a middle step between 3 and 4G?

How prevalent is this issue? Out of say, 100 users, how many seem to be affected? Or is it not quantifiable in these terms? Not a deal breaker (unless I'm severely affected, I suppose...)

Hmm. When the first 7" Samsung tablet came out, I worked at Sprint. We all joked about using it as a phone and held it up to our faces... It felt a bit silly. I was thinking I might use a Jawbone for phone on my imaginary tablet... I guess the question is: how weak is it?

No big deal for me. I've never found a good use for NFC. What did you use it for?
The final hurdle (I think) is T-mo. What kind of deal will I get from them... Guess I need to go talk to them.
Thanks again for the input and info.
Also, considering the age of the x2, would it be wise to hold off a bit for its successor? I've read the thread about the x3/m2, have there been any updates in that department?

You won't get LTE on the M3 either as it doesn't have any of the US LTE bands.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (Its what I used as a phone before my Mediapad X2)
Better screen and faster, its just bigger...
If you buy an international version they have the cellular radio enabled and HSPA+ is more than fast enough for everything. I haven't had LTE in 4 year and I don't need it.

If you don't care about size then yes, its better than the Mediapad X2, it won't be as fast as the latest stuff however like the Zenphone 3 Ultra. But its definitely fast enough for anything you need and the screen is big and gorgeous.
You can also take a look at the Huawei Honor Note 8. I think the 128G model is similar in price as the X2. I have both and the 6.6 inch Note 8 is about 1 cm narrower than the X2 and about the same in length. It has a better screen, better CPU and more RAM and eMMC storage.

A quick googling shows only a couple places to buy the honor at the moment, eBay or aliexpress. Being my first foray into international phones, is this fairly common? Am I missing an obvious source for purchasing?

Unfortunately that's the case now. I live in Hong Kong so it's easy for me to buy it. I think the Note 8 is currently for domestic (China ) only. I bought mine for around US 450, just to give you an idea.

Well, if you ever decide to enter the export business, let me know. I'm going to make a decision and a purchase within the next couple months.

Hey buddy one of my friends bought a grey market phone from this guy.

I'm not sure if he'll ship overseas but you can send him an email. I have no business relationship with him but his prices is fair.

Is there some way to fool a phone to think it's a tablet (and vice versa)? I have a MediaPad X2 that I'd like to use more as a tablet than a phone.
Is that possible?
Thanks
The OPO is getting old now, I've had my 3years worth and loved it despite the issues I've faced!
However it's time to upgrade (new job, more money )
I'm in the mix between ;
Pixel 1 XL - £400 (Really like this phone, although the age is putting me off SLIGHTLY due to not going to get many official updates)
Pixel 2 - £630 (Quite a bit expensive, will leave me quite skint but possibly worth it; I want this device the most)
LG G6 - £400ish? £500 with a floating LG speaker (I REALLY like this device, especially for the money but the skin and delay in updates will probably make me ill lol)
Oneplus 5 8GB ram - £450 (student discount) (obviously this looks like the no brainer but i KNOW the jelly effect will really get to me, in nearly every review of it on youtube i notice it when they scroll; no one can change my mind about this but I've added it to see if theres yet a fix for it? or is there going to be one? I havent seen anything about it?)
;
And these are the phones, can anybody steer me into the right way? I honestly cannot decide, and my mind hasnt been made so I'm not biased against any however I'm least keen about the OP5.

I wouldn't choose them sort of phones anyway mate due to the inconvenience such as; they'd be imported, wouldnt have good support if anything was to happen and the sites selling the xiaomis at least havent had the best reviews.
The phones i suggested i can buy in town without hesitation, even the Oneplus 5 due to being in the UK and o2 selling oneplus products
I just want something that works, is great all round and smooth. (and something i'm able to flaunt to ALL of my iPhone friends that claim Android is for 'tramps and emo geeks' hahah )

Well I was going to get the honor when it was just out as my dad asked if i wanted to get it off him and swap him for my opo with some money on top but the software is a big killer, possibly THEA worst android skin on a mainstream phone. The look, the feel and everything is clunky and pretty fairly disgusting.
I dont think theres any other phone on the market I'd have other than i've stated, I really like the Moto Z but I can't find it for sale in the UK (reasonably priced anyway), Also like Sony xperia phones but again, they're too expensive for what they are. The new HTC u11 is £600 so again, too expensive all considering.

What do you guys think, will there be any law suits againts Samsung where they where promising a flagship and we received maybe 500€ worth of a phone. With all the problems going around like bad network signal, freezing when getting a call, bad GPS signal, camera is far from their promises. I can't belive that a phone can be this different from SD version, which i would not think for a 1300€ phone. I am affraid that many of these faults are hardware related and we will never get the phone it was promised, and will be just a shadow to SD version.
Im starting to believe that GOS issues were intruduced just so Exynos variant would not feel so much different to SD versions, so the must have reduces SD performance so i would compare more to Exsynos version.
If i could return the phone this instance i would, or at least if Samsung would give us option to swap it with SD version.
Dunno... I believe that many of the current issues can and will be fixed via updates and presently many tests indicate that the Exynos indeed isn't all that bad in most categories.
I am in fact most curious about reception quality aka modem, not sure if this is really fixable via software. Most tests so far indicate that the Snapdragon modem indeed is quite a bit ahead of the Exynos....
I have Exynos version (12/256) since day one, never experienced major problems with it, but starting with AVC6, the phone sometimes freezes and reboots for incoming calls, before I even answer. I don't like it.
So... I should not have ordered one today?

Sound like a plan.
Don't understand why anyone would purchase the Exynos device. It's not like Exynos has a good track record, it's been problematic for many years. Yeah, some users haven't had any issues but let's be honest, you're rolling the dice on a very expensive smartphone. Even if your carrier can't provision all their call features for the most part you'll lose carrier aggression and 5G. More than happy to sacrifice those features for a problem free device. Class Action Lawsuit? Good luck with that, you might get a check at some point down the road for $20. The only people making out on that front are the lawyers!

You do realise that Exynos version is the only one available in Europe? When living in the UE even if you managed to import Snapdragon version you will have other issues ie waranty.

Yes, I'm aware of that. You still have the warranty but it has to be sent to the retailer for repair. I've had a number of devices purchased from Hong Kong, Snapdragon variants which never needed any type of repair so that hasn't been a concern, I would buy another again without hesitation.

No. You should have waited to see if it can be fixed. I lost patience, mine went back. Not risking the possibility it can't be fixed

I'm buying Exynos, because only it's available here in Europe, and I get it with insurance from my carrier, so repairs won't bankrupt me .
So, we don't have much option.

Its better. But read all the woes about 8 gen 1. Its made by Samsung lol. That's why it has problems also. Samsung are just average at making soc's.
Should get my dimensity redmi k50 pro soon. Looking forward to that than I ever did the s22 ultra. Was never excited about it. I had no faith lol. Unfortunately it turned out to be true. I'm sure they'll get it right one of these years
Man. Should I just send it back and keep my P6P? I bought the s22u due to recent issues with the p6p I've had since the March udpate.

I would wait until June or July. By then you'll have the option to get the device with the Snapdragon SoC manufacturered in TSMC's Foundry.

Thanks for the advice. I wonder why we can't get the snapdragon manufactured in TSMC found now. It stinks. I guess if I make it until July, I will probably just hold out for the P7P and roll the dice with that one.

Be sure to get a good pair of gloves so your hands don't fry when the K50 Pro exceeds120 degrees fahrenheit. And while you're at it don't forget to buy a couple cans of Raid Aeresol since it's MIUI 13 skin is jam packed with hundreds of bugs!
I ordered an exynos version this week, several weeks delayed, I hope that by the time it is in my hands these issues will be resolved.
Exynos 12/256 here.
Never had any problems.

What's even funnier is when a cheap, half baked, Chinese device is compared to an actual topshelf flagship.
