Hi,
I have updated TWRP to 3.3.0-2 using Odin3 v3.13.1 before proceeding to the installation of the rom version lineage-13.0_espressowifi-6.0.1-20190729-1933 but I am unable to install a gapps package. I have made an attempt using an old version (gapps-base-arm-6.0.1-20170902-1-signed) which failed. So I went to Open GApps project to obtain a newer version (open_gapps-arm-6.0-nano-20191116) but it failed again with an error code of 40.
This code tells me that I must wipe the system partition if I want to install their new version of GApps. I went to recovery mode and searched for such an option but it does not exist. The only option available is wiping the cache partition. In fact this new version of TWRP does not look the same as my previous version (3.2.0) in terms of options and features.
I have made an attempt at going back to my previous version of TWRP using Odin3 but it did work; no failure, the version was not changed.
If I can't go back to a previous version of TWRP and the current version does not provide an option for wiping the system partition, what can I do to install GApps?
Regards
did you wipe it under advanced wipe? and I recommend open gapps 6 arm pico.
as stated before, I can wipe cache only under the Advanced option of this version of TWRP.
Now regarding your suggestion of using the pico version of gapps, it doesn't matter. Whatever version I use, it triggers an error code of 40, which translates into something like: the Open Gapps package can only be installed on top of an existing installation of Open Gapps or a clean AOSP.... You must wipe your system partition and flash your rom before installing Open Gapps. Again, the problem is that the actual version of TWRP does not provide the option of wiping the system partition.
I have replaced an old 2018 version of LineageOS 13 with version lineage-13.0_espressowifi-6.0.1-20190729-1933 and as I was trying to install a Gapps package, it failed with an error code of 40.

Try a different version of TWRP.
as I was looking for a solution to my problems, I have discovered there are various "flavors" of Odin3 matching with hardware and software. Unlike what I have read on different sites, it is not always a good idea to use the most recent version of a piece of software. So, I have replaced my version of Odin3 by an older version more in line with my hardware and my operating system and I have managed to install successfully a very old version of TWRP (3.0.0). Then I have upgraded to version 3.3.0-2 and all options that I was used to became available. From this point, I will be able to clean flash my tablet.
Thanks secretwolf98 for your attempts to help me solve my problem.

Facing error"error executing updater binary in zip" ( 12.1.1 YOG7DAS2K1) Oneplus one
I tried wiping Data, Cache, System and then after flashing above update it says flashing failed.
Following are the details of my Oneplus one
TWRP : 2.8.7.0
CyanogenMod Version: 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL
Build Number: LMY48B
Device model- A0001
need a solution.
yeah same with me. Weird thing is it just says Error! nothing else is printed on the screen
I have found a solution for this problem.
You can follow this step:
1) Instead of downloading 65.8 MB incremental file go to cyanogen -support website( Sorry couldn't paste the link as i am new user) search for your device and you will find a link which will download the latest complete rom. This rom is of around 700mb.
2) Copy this downloaded rom mentioned above to ur device.
3) Take a Backup
4) Wipe Data, Cache,System or Simply just do factory reset with the help of TWRP
5) Install the Rom using TWRP
6) Reboot and finally your device will be updated and there will be no error.
it worked for me.
Hi.
Sorry for this
I am running CM stable 12.1. My recovery is TWRP.
I saw an update in OTA. Clicked "Update".
Phone rebooted into TWRP.
What's next?
(Tried finding the file in Download folder - but it's not there)
Again - sorry ):
Thank you for your help!
I guess you are talking about the recent CM13 stable release right?
The zip is located inside the cmupdater folder.
But don't flash it yet!
As you are coming from Lollipop, you have to flash marshmallow gapps with cm13!
I am using opengapps.
Also you were lucky the update did not work automatically, without the correct gapps, you will end up with a bootloop or force closes!
Your current TWRP version does not support the builtin cyanogenmod updater. Update TWRP too.

Wow - thank yo so much!!!!
Ok so this is what you suggest (if I am right):
1. Download OpenGapps 6.0 (desired version) from here: http://opengapps.org/
2. Go into TWRP.
3. Flash Latest CM13 STABLE (located at cmupdater folder).
4. Flash GAPPS.
5. Wipe Delivk + Catch
Is this correct?
Thanks again!!!!
Before step 3.
Go to:
Wipe - Advanced Wipe - and only wipe System
(this fully removes your current gapps and all kinds of possible mods which are maybe not compatible to Marshmallow)
then go on...
What TWRP Version do you have right now?
Don't forget to do a full backup in case anything goes wrong!
I'm trying to install the OpenGapps package for LineageOS 16 on my new Oneplus 7 Pro, but have a problem installing it.
First I tried the "open_gapps-arm64-9.0-micro-20190827.zip" package, but it told me its the wrong platform. Is it not arm64?
Second I tried to install the "open_gapps-arm-9.0-micro-20190827.zip", but gives me an error 70, saying I do not have enough space.
Maybe someone have a solution for this?
Thanks
Try MindtheGapps. I've seen this work for some.

Tried it. Still does not work.
I got it semi, but still not working. Seems like the problem is within the way the partitions getting handled. My old Oneplus 5t had a boot, recovery, system partitions. The new one includes the recovery inside the boot it seems instead.
Here's how far I am now:
1) Unlocked the phone
2) Installed TWRP
3) Install Lineage ( This overwrites the TWRP so you have to install it again )
4) Reboot straight from TWRP after flashing the Lineage... back into the Bootloader/Fastboot mode and install the TWRP again.
5) Boot back into TWRP recovery and now I'm able to install OpenGapps ARM64 version.
But after this I cant boot the OS anymore...

Still no luck. Tried many things now... but here's what happens:
1) Installing the TWRP
2) Format data partition and everything else
3) Reboot back into TWRP
4) Install Lineage ( At this point I'm able to boot into Lineage just fine )
5) Trying to install Open GApps at this point gives me:
Code:
# Begin Open GApps Install Log
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
# End Open GApps Install Log
INSTALLATION FAILURE: This Open GApps package cannot be installed on this
device's architecture. Please download the correct version for your device.
# Begin User's gapps-config
# End User's gapps-config
It says I need to install the ARM instead of ARM64...
But if I go back into the bootloader and flash the twrp and boot back into the recovery, I'm able to install Open GApps ARM64 just fine. Seems like a weird "device's architecture" detection problem in the Open Gapps or maybe it could be the TWRP... not sure...
Also after this it will no longer boot.
Kinda weird problem....

Have not wiped the System and Vendor partition after I installed Lineage... It boots just fine... just not if I install Open GApps....
Tried MindTheGapps latest version, but still no luck.
Okay got it working. The problem was the A/B partition layout they have in this phone... Was not aware of this.
This article describes it pretty well: https://lineageos.org/Changelog-19/
So yeah this is what I did:
1) Boot into Bootloader/Fastboot mode
2) Flash the boot partition with fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-52-guacamole-unified.img
3) Restart into TWRP - Format the data partition and clean the system partition etc.
3) Restart into recovery TWRP once more to get the data partition ready
4) Now you can transfer the lineage-16.0-20190827-nightly-guacamole-signed.zip over to memory.
5) Now flash the zip file and let it complete. This will overwrite the boot partition with TWRP and replace it with Lineage's own boot/recovery image.
6) Now reboot into Lineage's recovery. Now select Apply update > Apply from ADB and send the "MindTheGapps-9.0.0-arm64-20190615_031441.zip" file to the phone with "adb sideload MindTheGapps-9.0.0-arm64-20190615_031441.zip" - You might have to confirm the zip file....
After this is done, the phone should be ready for use.

I am facing the same A/B slot problem with my Moto Z2.
After setp 5), did you let the lineage OS fist then reboot into recovery, or did you go straight to the lineage recovery?
Thank you so much for this. I finally fot it sorted. I did find that sometimes you have to ubplug the USB cable and plug it in again to be recognised, but I got it going. Goodby Google!!!!
I am using Gentoo Linux with adb to do this.
It's an ASUS Nexus 7 2012.
I installed 'lineage-15.1-20200706-UNOFFICIAL-grouper' and 'MindTheGapps-8.1.0-arm-20180808-grouper' (is this the right file?) successively before rebooting while first wiping Dalvik/ART Cache, System, and Data.
It boots, but Gapps don't work. I managed to enter playstore but only once before it froze and since then, I can't enter it no more.
Here, they tell you to change filesystem from EXT4 to F2FS first and also to sideload the OS and Gapps instead of placing the zips in the root folder and installing from device. Does that make a difference?
see nothing is wrong or right it is just about compatibility use default instruction as much as possible
well regarding gapps flash it after setting up phone
Just make sure all the tools you've downloaded are compatible for your device.
Hello all - hope everyone's doing OK? I have a OnePlus One lying in the drawer for years and decided to flash it to the latest Lineage OS18.1 so I can take it as a backup phone abroad. I was able to successfully install the OS but when I attempted to install GAPPS (the smallest pico version) I got an error 70 saying there was insufficient space to install it. Doing some Googling a workaround seems to be to re-size the partition using TWRP. However when I tried that (Wipe-Advance Wipe-Check System-Repair or Change File System-Resize File System) I get another error message:
/sbin/e2fsck -fp /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system process ended with ERROR: 1
Unable to repair System
Anyone have any idea how I can fix this? For completeness in my system_root file system it is showing as Size: 1303Mb Used: 1063MB Free: 239Mb
Thanks!
Use a lower size gapps or aroma gapps so that you can choose required apps to install. Also, flash the rom+gapps together because of changes from some custom android versions you can't reboot to system and then flash gapps, that will give you force closes error.
Or maybe try to do full reset with original operating system and start all over again.
If the problem still persist, change the recovery to another available versions.
LineageOS only recommends MindTheGapps for 18.1
