Hi guys,
I have the Korean version of the Note Edge, SM-N915S installed with the latest stock rom (N915SKSU1ANK5).
The device is rooted (CF-Auto-Root), and flashed with CWM Based Recovery 6.0.5.1 .
I also used Aroma Universal Bloatware Remover v1.3 (thank you UpInTheAir) to remove some bloatware.
Now I wish to replace the original CSC (Korean) with a different one that will support my language (iw-IL) as well as my local cellular carriers.
I did succeed to find an Israeli stock rom for the NOTE 4 (N910FXXU1ANK5_N910FOJK1ANK5_ILO) with the "right" CSC.
I opened both roms with the Android Kitchen v0.224 so that now I have access to the CSC directories on both.
My question is:
can I just replace the CSC directory on the EDGE rom with the one on the NOTE 4 rom or is it involved with more than this?
IMPORTANT (or not) - The roms are dealing with 2 different devices with different processors and firmware!
Thanks,
Matty
I doubt you can't do it. As the file structures are (may be) different.

Thanks vndnguyen.
One major question is if all CSC configuration is done in the CSC folder or is it also involving other folders or files.
Next question is if different processor influences on CSC configuration.
I'm less concerned with different model (Note 4 vs. Note Edge) as it is basically the same device. (or maybe I'm wrong here....?!)

I can't answer your question right now, but you can check yourself by following this instruction:
download the stock firmwares for both Note 4 and Edge, extract the CSC partition (cache.img.ext4 file) using Winrar and then extract this file using ext4 Unpacker tool.
That way you can compare the file structure of both models.
Or you could just flash my SkyHigh ROM ..... Changing CSC will FC the weather widget and no notification from weather widget on edge panel.
Can someone tell me what is 'the' one specific file which dictates to the phone what set of CSC files to use?
Original SM-G930S phone, now with 8+ ROM shows as G955F
phone code entry of *#1234#, tells me the following:
AP: G955FXXU1AQGB
Model: SM-G955F, which is also stated in the About Phone model too.
CP: G930SKSU1DQJ1, which is also stated in the About Phone for baseband.
and
CSC: G955FOXM1AQGB, however, an app called CSC Features Expert indicates that my CSC is ED00023-USA-XAA.
I've downloaded a CSC zip for USA, Nougat7-TMB-CSC-Custom_Rom. I followed the instructions here:
https://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31670, putting the file/directory into system/ and leaving the directory inside system, from the zip as CSC. It contains the following TMB setting files, please see photo. So the directory structure reads root/system/CSC/files in the photo.
After reboot nothing has changed. When I go into Settings/Connections/Data Usage/Service provider settings/ region and service provider. These come up with China info only.
I was going to flash this via TWRP, however this file has a warning that if is for G930F, G935F, and G930FD. My 'original phone is 'SM-G930S'. After I put 8+ ROM on it, it identifies as G955F, so I did not flash as it warned of bricking.
Feedback on solving this would be appreciated.
Despite so much efforts on various forums and on twitter, our device manufacturer isn't providing us volte updates for the Moto G4 plus. I have extracted the fsg.mbn of a latest Mo model. We cannot flash the same because fsg.mbn is device specific relative to its size. Anyone interested can try out since fsg errors does not lead to IMEI errors or baseband unknown.
Requirements:-
1. A rooted device and with a root file manager
2. A fresh installation of any LOS ROM of your choice after changing the below files.
3. Latest stock firmware (fastboot) if in rare case RJIL volte disappears in the process.
Procedure:- The fsg folder in the phone has about 12kb free memory preventing any file additions. We can delete mbns of sprint and Verizon USA which will give us some space to paste the files. Sprint and verizon files are located in the fsg folder. Deleting them can provide upto 444kb. We require only around 100kb space.
Copy and replace mcfg_summary.xml in the fsg folder. Airtel volte parameters are added into it. Give permissions rw-r-r.
Copy and paste airtel_volte.mbn in fsg folder, in athene>folder no 4 and in india>customer folder. Give permissions rw-r-r
Airtel volte won't start instantly on the current rom without a reinstall of the rom.
Please see the plmn 40498 in the screenshot which shows volte and hd. Tested on RR 8.1 64bit. Volte bitrate is between 12.20 kbps to 14.20 kbps as shown in network signal guru.
stock fsg.mbn consisting of volte parameters of various networks
This is for development purposes. Uploaded fsg.mbn of a latest Moto device with volte updates. fsg.mbn can be edited/ extracted by using root explorer. If anyone can make a modified fsg.mbn for Moto G4 plus, it should not be more than 2.0 MB that can be flashed by fastboot. airtel_volte.mbn and vodafone_ind_volte.mbn can also be viewed by root explorer.
Maybe this information can help developers. https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/7n8pes/enable_volte_trhough_modem_mod_nv_items/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72810494&postcount=20
can u make a flashable zip?
Anything about idea sim volte support?
I don't think we can flash the modified fsg as fastboot flash fsg fsg.zip because I don't know the procedure to recompile fsg.mbn. I could not find a specific idea_volte.mbn but the parameters are present in mcfg_summary.xml so idea volte must be working without the mbn.
Another thing that I observed is that I am using the above mcfg_summary.xml of G6 play ( attached above) with the new rjil_volte and now my (Jio) sim1 data does not stop when call comes on sim2. I have replaced the original rjil_ind.mbn in my fsg folder with the new one.

After this OP post, i tried it on G4plus but didn't work,
Then i was going to try on g5s plus, but g5s plus already had those airtelxxx.mbn files by stock but it never worked on that device (moto needs to enable it?).. so i think it need more work to enable volte on airtel than putting this file..
The volte setting in fsg folder is troublesome for the first time. Once Airtel volte starts, can flash any number of roms. I could get Airtel volte only once on stock rooted 7.0. Currently using Bootlegger 64bit 8.1 and all Volte networks working. RJIL volte parameters are very different than that of our stock athene fsg.
Help getting Jio volte

Faramroze, can you help me get Jio volte on a moto G4 plus EU version purchased from middle east. I've tried flashing the Indian stock ROM (retin) multiple times, but it automatically detects the phone as European (reteu) and installs the EU modem. I've tried flashing the Indian modem too, but again the same result. It automatically detects the phone and flashes the EU modem (or the modem without Jio volte)
Using your tutorial, if I can get the volte files of Jio, I think it is possible to delete unnecessary sprint, at&t modems etc. and install the files of Jio volte. Please share files or advice me how to proceed.
The first post is clear:
Copy and replace mcfg_summary.xml in the fsg folder. Airtel volte parameters are added into it. Give permissions rw-r-r.
Copy and paste airtel_volte.mbn in fsg folder, in athene>folder no 4 and in india>customer folder. Give permissions rw-r-r

If you have a rooted device you can use a file explorer that has root capability, (I use ES File Manager), give root access permission, and then copy the files. Personally I would delete first the China files, to make room (athene_retcn_china and athene_retcn_2), those take 142kB.
Can anyone in India using an Athene with jio volte, copy the fsg folder of your installed ROM (not fsg.mbn) and upload it here?
Just Go to / and copy fsg folder, make it a zip and upload or send via pm. Please.
Hopefully it's a last resort to make reliance Jio volte work.

All volte parameters are available in the OP post's fsg.zip. That includes ind_rjil and others.

I couldn't find ind_rjil in Fsg.zip it has only Fsg.bin.
Can anybody please confirm this tweak? I'm really fed up of 3g call quality on airtel network but the whole data transfer after flashing is keeping me from trying it.
Also can i Restore twrp backup in case anything messed up or "best" case scenario- everything works perfectly.
Thanks!
File copy to FSG folder fails even with write and root permissions. Please help.
Copied the files as mentioned and reinstalled the OS. Airtel volte does not work for me. Does this hack still work after Airtel rolling out volte all over India?
Hello today i will be teaching you how to change your CSC on your A326U you can do this on V1, V2 , V3.
Before we proceed YOU NEED TO BE ROOTED.
Changing your CSC will give better looking icons and give your modem full access to 5G ( no speed throttling ) plus you wont get stock apps pertaining to your carrier. (bloatware)
This will also allow you to record calls with the built in recorder and more...
To change your csc you must take out sim card then using a file explorer head over to /optics/configs/carriers delete everything EXCEPT the SINGLE folder, then go inside SINGLE folder and delete all except XAA
then head over to /efs/imei
Change your mps_code.dat value to XAA Do the same with omcnw_code.dat & salescodeChanged.
delete the .baks Insert Sim and Reboot.
The csc file allows you to bypass throttling from any carrier if so where can I find such a file is it a custom csc file or stock csc file? Or do you just edit the csc without any other csc file?
Strange that there is no salescodeChanged inside imei folder.
Unless you meant prodcode.dat or cid.dat or total_call_time?
Bro my imei is 00000000
Imei cert fail 0 0
No backup of efs no sec portion on bit 8 how can you help me

Hi everyone. This is for anyone with a S908e device that lives in Canada and would like to have proper signal, 5g, rcs in Samsung messages among other things.
This should work for other regions as well such as the US. If you want to PM me your Home CSC from your regions most recent firmware, I could try and make a zip file for you as well.
This process below requires root as well as a root file manager such as Root Explorer.
1. Download the Canadian CSC files below to you phone.
2. Unzip file to your phone.
3. Go to the root folder in root explorer and backup the optics and prism folders.
4. Go into optics, configure, carriers and delete the singles folder.
5. Then go to the search location of the unzipped optics folder and copy all of the folders in carriers to the same folder on the root of the device.
6. Next do the same for all folders in the prism folder of root.
7. Once everything is copied go back to the root folder, change the permissions to exactly what the screenshot attached shows. Making sure you select the 2 check boxes on the bottom.
8. When that is done reset your phone. You should now get 5g, better signal and rcs in the Samsung messages app among other things.
This should work for other regions as well such as the US. If you want to PM me your Home CSC from your regions most recent firmware, I could try and make a zip file for you as well.
As always do this at your own risk and remember to back up your data.
Ps. If anyone might know which files in the CSC would deal with Sim Card Manager I am trying to figure out how to keep the settings in it from changing when the CSC is changed.
Hi there, would this also work for SM-S908N? Mostly for 5G access. Thanks!

I believe it should work for any S908W device. Just depends on the available bands. Try and let me know I can update to add the N.
If it does not work you have no worries, you can just reflash your Home csc from the S908N factory firmware and everything be fixed. There is no reason this will not work for your device. Should also work on a exynos device.
Hello, Can you please make a zip file for me. I have attached the Home CSC of current SM-S908W XAC Firmware. I am planning to change my CSC on my SM-S908N KOO device. Thank You.
