LTE / 4G problem - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

In quite urgent need of help. Got 2 Galaxy S8+ phones here. I am in Australia. Australian Galaxy S8+ Model I have is the G955F, the other model which I think is USA is a G955U1 or UI I think. It was sold on eBay as an Australian model and I don't think it is after doing some research.
I have noticed that when putting the sim card in the Australian model it shows up on the top bar as '4G' for the network and on speedtest I get a down link rate of 94 mbps.
With the American model I use the same sim card which shows up as LTE instead of 4G and when doing a speedtest I get a rate of 20 mbps.
Bit frustrated about this as it seems it is not able to get the full use out of the frequences here in Australia which is affecting signal, calls and network.
As you lot seem very clued up on this can I ask if you know a fix? Software wise or hardware? Without having to replace the actual mobo and phone.
Thanks

[Q] will this Nexus S work with T-Mobile??

I want to buy a Nexus S on ebay and there are a lot of them. I'm confused which one to buy for T-Mobile.
I found one that is locked to Sprint and the Specs show that it has AWS frequency (1700/2100). Theoretically, it should work with T-Mobile.
Usually phones from Sprint don't even have SIM card slot and they are CDMA(850,1900).
the Seller said that the phone has SIM card and the model # is GT-I9020T which is identical to T-Mobile Nexus S. He also said that his phone worked with AT&T.
He bought the phone from Sprint. I thought Sprint has only SPH-D720KIT (Nexus S 4G) model which I'm sure it doesn't work with T-Mobile.
What makes me more confused is the Specs which show AWS frequency (1700/2100).
I am confused. Will this phone work with T-Mobile? Did Sprint ever sell Nexus S i9020T model before Nexus S 4G came out? Or the info at eBay is just completely WRONG and seller is giving me wrong info??
This is the link that I want looking for => http://www.ebay.ca/itm/140693190583?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1202
There are 4 variants for Samsung Nexus S :
1.Nexus S 4G -------> works with Sprint , CDMA phone that never has a SIM card slot ...
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_google_nexus_s_4g-3884.php
2.Nexus S I9020A -----> works with AT&T , Rogers , etc (any GSM network that uses 850/1900 3G frequencies)
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_google_nexus_s_i9020a-3920.php
3.Nexus S M200 --------> Korean varient
4.Nexus S I9020T or (I9023 with LCD screen)----------> these work with T-mobile USA (it has the AWS 1700/2100 3G frequencies) ....
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_google_nexus_s-3620.php
Any GSM Nexus S (the last 3) will work with T mobile as a phone to make calls , recieve messages and browse the web with EDGE speeds but only I9020T will have the 3G data speeds with T mobile ...
Make sure from the eBay seller about the model you're ordering so you'll not end up with a device that either will not work or work with EDGE speeds ... (I hate eBay) lol....

Seller said that the Model # is GT-i9020T but this phone is from Sprint which uses CDMA. Will this phone work?
Did Sprint ever used to have Nexus S i9020T model before Nexus S 4G came out?

Either the seller is an idiot or he wants to pass some crap to you ....
Sprint is a CDMA network ... T mobile is a GSM network , very different from each other....
I9020T wil work on T-mobile, that's what the T means in I9020T as opposed to I9020A for At&t Also 1700/2100 are gsm 3g frequencies. the seller is most likely an idiot

Oh my god. I could have bought something useless. Maybe he gave me wrong Model #. Thank you guys.
You can hit Thanks also ... And you're welcome
And if I were you , I would not buy from eBay . Amazon ?
On the plus side, as long as you go through official eBay channels for everything and use PayPal, if the seller gives you outright wrong product information you can get a full refund.

[Q] Telstra 4g reception issues

Hi just wondering out there how many ppl in general with the note edge are getting low 4g or lte signals. Recently just got mine and my signal is real low between 1-2 bars sometime in the city where 4g is strong i still get 1 or 2 bars. If I compare it to my old phone I'm getting full reception and real 4g speed. Not sure if it just my phone or is it a common problem everyone else has. Any feedback wil be good. I am in Australia on the telstra network. My edge is N915G running on baseband ANK4.
Same issue i think
I have the SM-N915S model from Korea and i am in The Netherlands on T Mobile.
My note 3 works on 4G yet when i install same sim card into Note Edge i dont get 4G (Or LTE as its called on phone)
I am wondering if its because the network frequency in Korea is 850/900/1800/2100 and Netherlands is 800/1800/2600??
There is also no option to make it automatically switch between the 2. It only has the option for LTE or 3G.
I am also wanting to know if rooting the phone would enable the access?
Is there a way to root the phone and turn it into the SM-N915Y model for Europe in the hope this will fix the issue?
I am new to this and studying up on rooting phones.
Any help would be appreciated...
i am hearing it is a known issue with the Note Edge across all platforms. I am suffering from the same thing.

[Completed] [Q] Please help At&t lte on Verizon LG G4 Unlocked

I have an unlocked Verizon LG G4 VS986, I have an AT&T sim card in it and can make and receive calls and texts just fine. I also have internet but it's showing the H symbol and an up and down arrow below it. I have speed tested it in many places including my house and it is slower than My At&t s6 edge was while using the data. I checked a bunch of places and the APN settings seem to be correct. Why am I not getting 4g or lte speeds when I was in the same places with my At&t branded S6 Edge? Can anybody help me atleast get hspca or lte?
Thanks
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Unfortunately Verizon uses a different LTE band than other carriers. Their hardware often only supports that band. You can see if other users here can help, http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help There probably are as this is a common question regarding Verizon hardware on the AT&T network.

Please help me w/Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos

So I bought this Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos (Unlocked) [SM-G920FD] from Swappa but can't seem to get it work with T-Mobile at all! I'm hardly getting any bars plus network keeps dropping off. Funny thing is I live in a T-Mo zone, my other phones (running on T-Mo) work without any issues. No Problem with LTE either.
I'm super frustrated and donno what to do anymore.
What apn setting do I need to use? I will really appreciate it if anyone can kindly help me out with detailed instructions, since I'm a such a dumbo!
Thanks in advance

Duos g920FD is same geographical version as international g920F (except it is single SIM), same 3g and LTE freqs.
There is a T - Mobile version for s6 (g920T), only single sim, there is not duos t - mobile version.
It means probably your carrier is using 3G 1700MHz freq on your zone, the only additional frequency that g920T has and g920F/FD hasn't. Both versions have same LTE freqs except F/FD versions has 3 more LTE frequencies available, because this you have not problems with LTE.
Check with your carrier if they are using 1700MHz 3G band and if so, sorry, you should change any of your carrier or your phone, or force GSM connections. Or maybe you can also configure your duos s6 using a non T-Mobile SIM for data 3G/LTE, and your T-moblie SIM as 2G (GSM) only voice/SMS.

S8+ not giving LTE on Rogers

Hi everyone,
I have an S8+ I bought abroad, when I use my Rogers sim I get 4G not LTE. However when I use the sim on my Priv, I get LTE. I am using the Rogers APN.
Is there anything I can try?
Thanks
What country code/model is the phone? It's just an icon - whether you see 4G or LTE icon all depends on the CSC the device came preset with.
The only potential issue is with the European models (G95XF / G95XFD) lacking band 30, which some carriers (like AT&T) use for Enhanced LTE. While Enhanced LTE does work, it doesn't support the full speed that comes with band 30.
Do a speed test. If your S8 and Priv report the same speed, don't think about it too much.
The phone I bought from Saudi Arabia. Model is SM-G955F.
I do get similar speeds.
Can I change the preset without rooting the phone?
Thanks again
Usually f models shows 4g icon rather than the LTE icon.....so you are perfectly fine
Signal icons are usually csc dependant... you can see what csc is on the phone and search online to see which csc has the icons

Mm, yeah.. I know it's some cscfeature, just can't figure out which one. When using BTU, it shows up as 4G, but switching over to a XAA csc changes it to LTE. Speeds are the same.

Middle Eastern phones like the one you bought don't show 'LTE', they show 4G in the status bar, but to confirm you can open the dialer and dial *#0011# and see LTE-BASIC Info, like what LTE Band your phone is using and other detailed information about the cellular connection.
