[Q] Telstra 4g reception issues - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi just wondering out there how many ppl in general with the note edge are getting low 4g or lte signals. Recently just got mine and my signal is real low between 1-2 bars sometime in the city where 4g is strong i still get 1 or 2 bars. If I compare it to my old phone I'm getting full reception and real 4g speed. Not sure if it just my phone or is it a common problem everyone else has. Any feedback wil be good. I am in Australia on the telstra network. My edge is N915G running on baseband ANK4.

Same issue i think
I have the SM-N915S model from Korea and i am in The Netherlands on T Mobile.
My note 3 works on 4G yet when i install same sim card into Note Edge i dont get 4G (Or LTE as its called on phone)
I am wondering if its because the network frequency in Korea is 850/900/1800/2100 and Netherlands is 800/1800/2600??
There is also no option to make it automatically switch between the 2. It only has the option for LTE or 3G.
I am also wanting to know if rooting the phone would enable the access?
Is there a way to root the phone and turn it into the SM-N915Y model for Europe in the hope this will fix the issue?
I am new to this and studying up on rooting phones.
Any help would be appreciated...

i am hearing it is a known issue with the Note Edge across all platforms. I am suffering from the same thing.

Please help me w/Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos

So I bought this Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos (Unlocked) [SM-G920FD] from Swappa but can't seem to get it work with T-Mobile at all! I'm hardly getting any bars plus network keeps dropping off. Funny thing is I live in a T-Mo zone, my other phones (running on T-Mo) work without any issues. No Problem with LTE either.
I'm super frustrated and donno what to do anymore.
What apn setting do I need to use? I will really appreciate it if anyone can kindly help me out with detailed instructions, since I'm a such a dumbo!
Thanks in advance

Duos g920FD is same geographical version as international g920F (except it is single SIM), same 3g and LTE freqs.
There is a T - Mobile version for s6 (g920T), only single sim, there is not duos t - mobile version.
It means probably your carrier is using 3G 1700MHz freq on your zone, the only additional frequency that g920T has and g920F/FD hasn't. Both versions have same LTE freqs except F/FD versions has 3 more LTE frequencies available, because this you have not problems with LTE.
Check with your carrier if they are using 1700MHz 3G band and if so, sorry, you should change any of your carrier or your phone, or force GSM connections. Or maybe you can also configure your duos s6 using a non T-Mobile SIM for data 3G/LTE, and your T-moblie SIM as 2G (GSM) only voice/SMS.

Singal question

Hello guys. I had a T-Mobile Galaxy S7 but i sold it months ago so now i wanted to go back to the Galaxy so i got the international unlocked S7 G930F. I notice to start that it does not says 4GLte never only 4G. So i was thinking maybe the international name for 4GLte is just 4G so i let it pass but now i notice places where i had 3 or 4 bars 4gLte on the tmobile one, with international one i see 1 or 0 bard 3g or H+. Until now i have no call drop. But my question is. Is the T-Mobile better for signal to use on tmobile network or is the tmobile showing me fake signal while the international is showing me the real deal? I still have time to return it and get the tmobile one i just got it for the 8 core processor. Oh and i have a nexus 5x and he connect to LTE too were the G930F connects 4G and the nexus is unlocked too so i dont undestand.

Hi mate
4G or 4Glte they are the same , marketing mostly , some firmware show it as 4G other as 4GLTE or LTE all are the same
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/feature/mobile-phone/whats-difference-between-4g-lte-3605656/
Regarding signal strength the only way to know who is saying the true is with a signal meter , apps like PhoneInfo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709931
have a monitor where it shows you the signal strength in dbm and not just an image , with a dbm value you can truly compare

Thanks man. I used LTE Discovery and they both connected to LTE using band 4 and the strength is the same. They both turn to full GSM while on call and then back to LTE band 4 after call. So is marketing thanks.

That sounds about right , voice calls use GSM , unless your regions have VoLTE , LTE is used only for data . cool is all clear now

Galaxy S8 Supports All Available Lockal Bands But No 2G

Hi. I got a BoostMobile Unlocked Galaxy S8 off Ebay. It supports all available 6 bands (two bands for each 'generation'). Immediately after first use I realized something was wrong with the signal reception. Long story short, it wont connect to 2G network. I am really skillful with technology and I tried every possible way to test what I am declaring right now. The thing is, when 3g signal is weak, phone says emergency calls only. 3G and LTE are ok specially outside. I was adviced to replace the Motherboard. Do you guys think that is the only way to remedy this issue? FYI i flashed the firware with various carriers but I finally sicked to unlocked one(U1).

LTE / 4G problem

In quite urgent need of help. Got 2 Galaxy S8+ phones here. I am in Australia. Australian Galaxy S8+ Model I have is the G955F, the other model which I think is USA is a G955U1 or UI I think. It was sold on eBay as an Australian model and I don't think it is after doing some research.
I have noticed that when putting the sim card in the Australian model it shows up on the top bar as '4G' for the network and on speedtest I get a down link rate of 94 mbps.
With the American model I use the same sim card which shows up as LTE instead of 4G and when doing a speedtest I get a rate of 20 mbps.
Bit frustrated about this as it seems it is not able to get the full use out of the frequences here in Australia which is affecting signal, calls and network.
As you lot seem very clued up on this can I ask if you know a fix? Software wise or hardware? Without having to replace the actual mobo and phone.
Thanks

Do any Samsung Galaxy phones work great with Verizon?

Hi everyone, my wife and I use Verizon and I'm running into a problem that I hope you guys can help me find a solution to.
I recently bought my wife a Samsung Galaxy S8 SM-G950U (Unlocked by Samsung). Purchased from Amazon. The phone technically works with Verizon, but it seems that it only has partial compatibility with Verizon's CDMA network. I don't totally understand but from what I gather, it works well when it has 4G LTE signal, but really has problems with lesser signals (3G, 2G, 1G). It seems like it has no connection (no calling or data) when it's out of 4G LTE range. Her old phone (HTC 10) seems to have much better compatibility with Verizon's CDMA signals. She really likes the S8, but the importance of her ability to use voice calling outweighs the other benefits of the phone upgrade, so we're going to return the Galaxy S8 and she's going back to the HTC 10 until we find something that works better with Verizon's network.
So now to my questions:
1) Is there a version of the Galaxy S8 that has better network compatibility with Verizon?
2) Are there other Galaxy phones that work better with Verizon's CDMA signals?
3) Can you recommend any other phones that are known to have great compatibility with Verizon? (Google Pixel? any others?)
My goal is to get her a premium phone that is maybe 1-2 years old, but works great with Verizon. It doesn't have to be Samsung. Thanks in advance
