i understand there is a site called eu.miui but i see there only the chinese rom...
and whats the diffrent between 6.x rom to 7.x rom
i want miui on my xiaomi mi4c, i already asked for bootloader unlock 5 days ago so i want to get the rom ready for flashing as soon as they unlock my phone.
so my quesiton is, what good miui rom are there to flash? or where can i find this en.miui rom download.
thank you!
Hello,
Mi4c is officialy sold only in china, so the only roms avaible are china version.
Actually we have 6.x developer rom, which is rooted, and 7.x stable rom out.
You can find modded version of the official roms that include other languages than english and chinese, and get rid of Xiaomi bloat, made by Xiaomi.ue and Smiui.net.
sMiui here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/orig-development/rom-smiui-rom-ultimate-custom-rom-t3242215 or http://www.smiui.net/mi4c_libra.php
Xiaomi.eu here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/general/miui-eu-weekly-builds-t3236773 or http://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/miui-weekly-rom-releases.103/
I was looking to do the same thing and customizing in the kitchen is always super convenient, but I'm torn between starting off with the latest stable or dev.
I'm not afraid the dev would lock the bootloader or anything, I know they already removed that right away :good:
But I've not seen miui since v1 and I was thinking I'd use the phone out of th box 'as is' for a week or 2 to get a feel for performance and usability, and judge other roms based on that experience. But I'm thinking there's a good chance the phone ships with some reseller bloat so I might want to wipe and flash on day 1.
There's also a chance I stick with that rom for longer since I might be traveling. So am I best starting off on stable? I don't really know the big difference between the 2, does the 6 in the dev version imply it's still miui 6 so it won't have the performance improvements? I assume both will be full rooted coming off the smiui kitchen so that's basically all I need to start with.
If the dev build has any particularly good tweaks I might want to start with that as my benchmark for future roms..
Don't worry, dev 6.1.14 for mi4c is stable and fast, you can use it without issue.
using dev version I usually wait to update for 1 day to see if rom has big drawback checking comments on Xiaomi.eu threads
Just discovered a small bit of info on their forums, of what I was wondering about.
The version number on the dev simply means the date so 14th of januari 2016 is 6.1.14
First time I've seen a company use a datestamp where the year is one number. But like you feel about most other things when looking through their forums; information is obscured
So in the stable the first number does stand for the miui version, in the dev not at all.
I will be going for the dev then, since that is where all the informed people are so there's the best chance of knowing what you're getting.
Hi,
I've been using Nexus phones for years, and I'm thinking of buying a phone from the P20 family. I don't really like the version of Android that Huawei ships though, and I'd like to be able to install a stock ROM. I assume that this phone will have Treble support (since it shipped with Oreo) and that, because of that, it should be easy to install a custom ROM on it.
Is all of this correct? Will it be easy to install a custom ROM on these phones, or should I go for a different phone?
I'm also considering buying a P20 Lite tomorrow, how was custom ROMs development on P9 Lite and P10 Lite ?
Judging from the ROM development for the Mate 10 series and as it normally is for Huawei phones, it is not very likely that there will be that many ROMs specifically designed for the P20 phones.
However, installing Treble based ROMs should not be a problem at all. There are several such ROMs available, including AOSP, Lineage, Resurrection Remix, CarbonROM etc. The downsize is that these are often very generic ROMs and Huawei specific features may not be available. For example, third party camera apps often have inferior performance compared to the stock camera app. Sometimes these apps are ported over though.
Thanks for your answer!

So, we can take any Treble based ROM and installed it on any Treble enabled phone, and it will work? Don't specific phones need specific ROMs anymore?

Let's say I install an AOSP ROM and use Google Camera. Should I expect it to take bad pictures, or are you referring to something else when you say inferior performance?
Probably dumb questions, but I've been out of the ROM scene for years.

Yupp, that's pretty much the basic idea. Check out the following thread for more about project Treble.

The thing here is that the stock ROM may nevertheless contain vendor specific code which is not released and may have other proprietary conditions on it. The Google Camera may thus not return the same quality as the stock one. This has at least been the case for Huawei phones, although the stock camera app has been ported over (see the thread above).
I just unlocked the boot loader on my P20 Lite, now waiting patiently for a custom recovery
Custom ROMs are not very likely in Huawei devices
Hi all
Also been using Nexus for quite some time now, and bought a Huawei P20 lady week.
1. The camera is great
2. EMUI is not my cup of tea
My goal the coming weeks is to try to understand if it's likely to see a Treble ROM and if the camera app from EMUI/P20 can be ported.
Tldr; I want to keep the camera functionality but use stock android 8.x
Anyone find anything, please post
Peace ✌?

The camera app should be possible to port. It has been done in the past for both Kirin 960 and 970. Check this out for reference. In that thread the camera is based on the one from Mate 9 but in theory a newer one should be possible.
Still unsure if I should buy Mi Mix 2S or Oneplus 6
For me a working LineageOS 15.1 ROM are essential. With Treble this should be working already but it's pretty quiet in ROM section.
Anybody has it running ?
https://www.xda-developers.com/qualcomm-snapdragon-845-kernel-source-code/
I guess devs are waiting for this to build device-specific roms.
Some users have reported treble working with some bugs.. And there wont be any device-specific roms until the sources appear on CAF. That will happen soon.
If you need a big developer community I would go for the 1+6, if not the 2s wins (at least for me) because no notch and maybe a better camera(still waiting for tests here)

Treble device development is discussed here, some people reported that treble roms on our phones are working fine with minor bugs (screen blinking on lock/unlock, no support for second camera). I am yet to test these, since my mix 2s is still awaiting bootloader unlock.

Have seen some relatively direct comparisons and the mix clearly has the better camera.
Im also keen to see a Lineage OS build but havent seen much discussion on it or heard any devs that are working on it. I have just onlocked and rooted my phone after waiting the 15 days.
I wonder when more Mi Mix 2s enter the global market, developers have waited 15 days to unlock phones and source code released from Qualcomm that we will see more activity on custom roms.
You can install lineage via treble right here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...evice-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690

Yes, I am aware of that but certain features of the Mi Mix 2s do not work with this version (dual camera for example)

It took almost 6 months for the Mi Mix 2 to get decent, stable, bugfree custom AOSP roms. Now they have plenty. I guess we will just have to be patient.
Would be nice to get some custom MIUI roms in the meantime though

If you take a look here:
https://www.xda-developers.com/qualcomm-snapdragon-845-kernel-source-code/
You will know when it will be possible for devs to start working on our device
I'm new to this treble topic and have a few questions.
Those ROMs are intended to be flashed on ANY device being delivered with Android 8 or higher, right?
I read that some functions will not work as they are not a part of the treble environment. Can anyone tell me which parts of he phone this could on our model?
Has anyone already flashed the pixel experience rom on a Xiaomi MiMix2S? Will anything be broken? E.g. Bluetooth, WiFi, camera, storage?
The kernel is already published if I read that correctly, so it´s just a matter of time before any stock aosp roms will come to our devices, right? Can´t wait - and get rid of MIUI!
Need advice!
Best regards

Main features are all fine, you will find camera not great and 2nd camera not supported, most report treble ROMs having not great battery. But it will work.
M.
Thanks for the advice!
I think I'll wait for now until the Devs work their magic and publish a stable version with all the bells and whistles!
Is there any possibility to install a stock treble rom and install the camera APK afterwards? Would this work?

It will not work. The functionality of the camera is not just related to the APK but also depends on framework and libraries.

We are also waiting for the snapdragon 845 sourcecode, when this is available (first week of July maybe) custom roms are right around the corner
That's great news. Can't wait to get a stable android p ROM for this device.

Flashed, but couldn't boot.
I flashed PHH-Treble 8.1 instead, still finding the MIUI camera or a workable Google camera.
Guys,
Why does the MI MIX 3 have almost none working custom rom built for it?
The device is so good, i thought we would have lots of developers trying to build roms for it.
Any reason for this?
Probably because not many people own one?

It's not even been out half a year so what exactly are you expecting.
There also isn't much point when it's got treble support
I would like to see more development for this device. Xiaomi doesn't sell their devices in North America, which doesn't help. Sure, some of us import them, but the good developers tend to stick to commonly sold devices that are sold by just about every retailer and carrier. It definitely is an excellent device though and one I am glad I picked up.
If you google perseus lineageos a few interesting things come up like this: https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_xiaomi_perseus
Does this mean we may get lineage at some point?
I think more developers will working on custom roms for this device when this device will be available officially in India and maybe when our device will get bootable LineageOS builds (I saw some commits for Mix 3 but I dont know if you can build bootable rom from these sources, I am not dev https://review.lineageos.org/q/perseus ). Bootable Lineageos = "stable" device tree as base for other roms.
At least we can use GSI roms
Went from Mi 11 Ultra to this, and I've noticed that the custom scene for the 12s is pretty lacking aside from the EU ROM. Just curious what it'd take to get an Elixir or even an Evolution ROM these parts.

12s pro and im waiting like you
May be this 12s series didnt go global so it didnt get more attention
...and for the record, anytime anyone spends time making a custom ROM I'm extremely respectful for that (I've been using customs since Windows Mobile 6.1). In no way am I dragging them nor implying that we're owed this. Again, I just love customs and was simply curious with this.
I have heard on the telegram chanel of 12s ultra, than some people are using the rom mi pro, but I haven't find channel or source (or only for chinese users?) and which seems to be a paid rom.
I have also trying to flash the simplicity rom, but I have a soft brick even if I pass the boot but my phone show only 0% of battery and apps were not working with only access to fastboot.
So I solve it by flashing a fastboot mui 14 rom via my pc.
Anyone have tested the mui pro or the simplicity rom ?
