factory reset it in settings, turn off FRP lock in developer options, then factory reset it from within recovery. Reboot and try it again. sounds like you got a glitch. If this doesnt work, get the stock firmware from sammobile.com/firmwares and reflash it with that. If THAT doesnt work, return it. The first two steps will not void your warranty, even the flashing of stock firmware via Odin does not void your warranty
My ten cents:
Can you switch NFC off,. Or on?
I remember vaguely that I had problems with NFC card when my note was doing weird sounds.

Yes, RTFM! (Page 55)
what is supposed to be in page 55 of which manual peter?
The user manual, can be found at HTC's website under "support".
It should be a setting you can turn on and off, and turning the device over silences calls.

I heard if you put it face down it would silence the phone. I don't have one, but that was what i read somewhere.
That`s the text:
"You can also place your phone face down on a table to mute the ring without
rejecting the call."
But ...it doesn`t work

it's not in page 55 in all manuals
in any case the text only mentions what the device SHOULD do, not if you can turn this function on and off
so no, you are wrong
(btw works for me anyway)
hi Peter
I think you need to make a change to the registry (see point 4 on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265)
If your next question is now do you edit the registry you need to download something like PHM RegEdit.
This worked for me

Hi - thanks again for this advice: . Switch Mute Call on phone flipped face down: HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE : FaceDownMuteRing: change value to "1" (FIXED: thanks KuKuRiKu and everyone)
But I already did it and it`s still not working !
Switch Mute Call on phone flipped face down: HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE : FaceDownMuteRing: change value to "0"
This worked for me..

You know it only works if the phone is face up when the call comes in? Then you turn it over and it stops ringing. If the phone is face down already then it doesn't work.
Thank you Steve ...I tried it....but ...
On my old Rhodium TP2 there was a feature to automatically activate speaker when placing phone face down. Is that possible with HD2?
Err... yeah. You just place it face down

LOLLLL
didn't know that
It never worked for me for some reason. It could be disabled but I can't find the setting to turn it on. Anyway, I am planing to do a hard reset this weekend and see if that feature is back.

I can only assume it will be there after a hard reset, as it's something I've used countless times and have never had to enable it. (I seem to remember reading it in the manual too!)
Confirmed working with Dutty's ML series ROMs.
It does not work for me. WWE ROM. I just did a hard reset.
Always worked for me on Stock 1.66 ROM.
Working on Axlor.
Weird this, ive always wanted it!
and just never tried it

that's strange. the feature is documented in the HD2 manual, so it at least works on all stock ROMs. If not, approach HTC support.
i'd say if it doesn't work, its something related to a flashed rom and a setting more than anything else
Turing On Speaker While Facing Up More Useful
I would rather somehow have the proximity sensor turn the spearkers on while the phone is facing up because it would be nice to multi-task and take notes or update my contacts while I am talking to that person/business. For example, a business gives me an RMA so I would have to edit my notes for that contact and enter the RMA number. I can't do this while the phone is faced down.
yea the speaker function works the same on mine as on the TP2
Is there a setting or reg key that I can change to enable this? (doesn't work on Artemis 6.0)

Maybe it's too late and you already found the solution but here it goes for other people:
To turn the HD2's speaker on do one of these:
1 - Long press phone button (furtherest left)
2 - Turn it upside down
3 - On the call screen slide down & press the speaker's button
noob
1. Running REFUSE 1.7
2. Phone will not vibrate at all (even though set to vibrate always)
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Anyone?
):
chaeck vibration intensity.
seetings->sound->last item
else do a factory reset.
Don't know if this will help but I was having an issue with my phone not vibrating when I received texts and started using a program on the Market called "Vibrate Tools" and can now customize all of my vibration settings.
yea. this is a weird bug that sometimes happens with gingerbread roms too... if u reboot it should work...
hardware - related - vibrate dead?

I've had the vibrate feature not work since i swapped off stock to GB about 2 months ago - is it safe to assume that if the factory vibrate test doesnt work (dial the funny phone number u know?) that the unit's vibrator (lol) is just dead and i need to get a new phone? :\ /thanks - I just hate at&t - don't wanna go back till my contract ends!!

Thanks!!

if flashing a whole different rom, and changing sims didn't work, then sorry buddy, I won't be able to help you anymore...
last option, search in market for an app that totally disables vibration...(can't link you though, since I don't use google's market...too slow for me)
Well, as the title says, everytime I pick up my phone I feel a little vibration (and no, I don't have the "smart alert" thing turned on). I tried not to be worried about it but I can't not notice it. Any ideas?

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

Did you follow the steps i suggested ?
Also try clearing system cache in the boot menu.
If that doesn't get it, modify the appropriate notification setting, lol.
That can be a daunting task but sort of fun because you can streamline your notification settings as you do so.

There are apps that log notifications so you can just check the log and quickly determine what is causing the notification even if nothing is showing on-screen

If they catch it. Consider which sensors and operation triggers it, cause and effect, to narrow it down.
Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.
Only persistence is omnipotent...
I figured that out by chance..
It's the edge-compass app
Just delete it from edge apps and it'll go away.. cheers

Well, I've checked all that and nothing, I don't even have the compass edge panel. But I think I'm able to replicate the issue, it mostly happens when my phone is face down on a surface and I pick it up and turn it to me, I don't have a case on it yet and I'm starting to think that it might have something to do with the edge screen but so far no luck
Use good lock. It has a module to detect vibrations and tell you what they are
Nice catch

Yeah, I installed it yesterday. But no vibrations are registered there so honestly I don't even know what to think now.
On the other hand when I switched from my note 10 plus I used smart switch, and now I'm thinking I should do a fresh start on my n20U.

Exactly check if you have Notistar from good lock switched on. That cache might need clearing.
I just go with it lol. I'm nutz. I'll feel my **** vibrate in my pocket when its sitting on the table. So I don't pay much mind to phantom vibrations. ???

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.
