HTC Sync Manager on Android Pie 9? - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hello.
After upgrading from Oreo to Pie I wasn't able to use HTC Sync Manager. So after hard reset I have no possibility to restore backup from backup which has been made by HTC Sync Manager. I've lost my photos and etc... Is there any possibility to restore HTC backup somehow? On Virtual Machine or so? It's very bad, that without any warning you can't use program for backup...
Any suggestions about taking out files from backup are really appreciated.

Restore Programs after ROM Upgrade

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with a tool for backup of the installed programs before update and restore them on the new ROM? I tried with Sprite Backup, but than I had to hard reset because the device hang after Splash screen. Such a tool would save a lot of time. Greetings!
No No No No No No
The reason you should NOT restore after a flash is that any backup program (Sprite, SPB included) must by its nature backup things like registry and datbase files.
If you restore then you will overwrite the information that the very clever cookers have spent all of their time fixing to make the ROM stable.
Equally backing up PIM data (contacts, calendar, tasks etc) using this type of program and then restoring can cause problems. If you can - sync with PC first and resync after the update. Then you are guarenteed compatibiliy.
If you must backup on the PPC then use programs like SMSBackup and ContactsBackup. These export and import the data rather than taking a copy.
I know it is a pain and takes a long while but I strongly recommend reinstalling after an update.
If anybody knows of a tool that can automate the installation of a number of CABs please please let me know.

can't restore data after WM 6.1 upgrade - help!

Hi
I'm having a big problem restoring backup data on my Touch Cruise after installing the Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade.
I took a backup before the 6.1 upgrade with the Sprite Backup Software that was with the phone when I bought it, but when I try to restore the data, the phone just freeze - and it seems that it is because the original Sprite Backup software doesn't work with 6.1.
I have then tried to buy the newest Sprite Backup Software (version 6.5.2), because it was supposed to have a feature to backup acros different ROM types. But when I find the backup file from the original Sprite Software tool, I get the message "The selected backup file was created using a different version of the Sprite Backup (1%) and is incompatible with your current version (6,5,2, build 102).
So in other words, I can't use the original provide backup tool to restore my data from windows mobil 6.0 to 6.1, and I can't use the new software either.
What can I do to restore that data? There have been no warning on the HTC website when downloading the ROM upgrade that you couldn't restore the backup data - and I'm using the backup tool that was on the CD, when I bought the phone.
I surely hope that there is some way to restore that backup data, because it contains important information about contacts and settings. If there isn't a fix then I would like to know how to restore Windows Mobile 6 on the phone, because this seems to be the only version that allows me to use the Sprite Backup tool to restore my backup data. But I don't know if that is possible (and if there is a danish version of the old WM6?).
Any help restoring the data or getting back to WM6 is VERY appreciated. THANK!
PS: I'm not very technical, so please "spell it out for me" what to do
Download the original WM6 rom, then run PPC Pimbackup to back up your PIM information, then install the WM6.1 rom, then restore the data using Pimbackup. (Free)

DOnt Panic is correct in what he says, but for your future info, you cannot restore backups from one rom to another, that is 6.0 to 6.1 or whatever. It is not the fault of sprite backup so get your money back
Downsoad official 6.0 rom from HTC (or the rom u had before). Restore your backup (this will now work with ur original rom).
Once you have all your info back, download PIM Backup from here. Backup your contacts, emails files etc but NOT system settings.
FLash your new rom and restore backup using PIM backup and happy days
PIM backup is good for this. Make sure you keep ur sprite backup u did safe, it is a good way of getting back to a good working place.
WHen you have your new rom clean, with contacts, do another backup using Sprite and keep it, clean backups done just after a flash (once contacts are on etc) are a handy tool to keep on sd card, saves doing a hardrest!

timmymarsh... Just to point out that SPB Backup has a very clever backup process between ROMS. I used it between WM6 and WM6.1 (OK so it's not the best) but between std wm6.1 and custom it worked a dream...

[Q] Save playlists before full-wipe ROM install

Hello,
I'm sick and tired of having to remake my playlists after each new rom version I install (where I do a full wipe.)
I don't use HTC Sync. I'm not sure if that would solve the problem, but the trouble is, HTC Sync first needs me to have everything setup for itunes. But itunes wants to totally jack up and rename all my music, folders and stuff. I don't want that.
Anyway - all I want to know is if there is data / files on the phone that I can backup before wiping that will allow me to keep my playlists? If so, what and where are they?

If you're rooted, I've been saving mine on Titanium Backup. The file is [PLAYLIST] Media Storage... Hope that helps...
Use MyBackup Root... Works perfectly for backing up playlist and other system settings.

[Q] Backup Custom ROM?

I have an HTC Arrive recently HSPL'd and flashed a custom ROM, I wanted to know if there is a way to back up my phone with the Custom ROM on it completely? All the techniques I'm finding for full backup seem to have warnings about custom ROMS. If there isn't a full backup available is there one to backup all my apps/data at least?

I couldn't get this App to work since it only works with zune 4.7. Which does an entire backup including music and pictures and such, which just wastes extra space since those files are already backed up on my computer. The newer zune software only backs up information that isn't stored on the computer (Apps, settings etc..)

you have to change the ZuneWmdu.DLL in your Zune Folder on Computer.
Make a copy of your existing ZuneWmdu.DLL and change it with this one.

Sorry for you phone... RIP
Actually it seems that you can do sth about this... I found this site where you can see that some people were able to recover some things from their backups using Titanium backup (Pro edition) or the Nandroid Manager (free and paid versions).
PS.: Before restoring anything, make a backup. If you are restoring contacts or other things from your old system apps better not restore the apps only the data...
Good luck! :fingers-crossed:
thanks for your reply. aren't those apps can only recover files that were backed up by those software? i used htc sync manager, which is the official software for htc phones. since my htc one phone is dead i cant install any software on that device. i need something for the pc. i only have that backup. sony's pc companion app can restore files from ios backup but not androids. i need a workable android phone or a htc device.
wish android had something like the icloud.
