Is it possible implement AOD on the A30s ?
If so, is it possible to use the fingerprint sensor from AOD?

So... no solution yet ?
سلام خسته نباشیدایا گزینه AODدرa30sوجود دارد اگه موجود هست چرا گوشی من که a30sهست موجود نیست
Though A30s equipped with Super AMOLED display but it does not have this AOD natively built in the system..... but I found this APP "Always On AMOLED" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomer.alwayson&hl=en
It's quite good and very customizable and it's almost look like the stock AOD....
How it's works... when you have your phone locked and the AOD on... you just have to double-tap on the screen or press the power button also you may simply tap on the simulated home key on the screen to wake the phone... then you may use your pin/pattern/face/fingerprint to unlock your phone.
This is how is my AOD look like, it's so dark because of I have it set to the lowest brightness

I've been using a Sony Smartwatch3 but have jumped to the S3 Frontier because of its better looks and battery life. However, much as I love the built in chrono/sports watchfaces there seems no way to set them up in an 'ambient mode' like the Sony. This is where you can get a stripped down, dark grey representation of the face so you don't need to keep twisting your wrist or drawing attention to yourself with a lit up screen.
Is this possible at all, or would I have to be download some third party watch face that will, I suspect, be nowhere near as attractive as the Samsung one?
Cheers
Hi.
If you use the "always on" mode for watchfaces, and turn off the activation by movement, you will have a greyed out version of the watch face at all times.
Is this what you are looking for?

I want it so that it's permanently greyed out (i.e. not backlit) so it's just about readable at all times and only comes on/lights up when I tap it.
Below is a Sony example.
the gear S3 has no backlight, it uses an OLED screen.
this means each individual subpixel is a light, and turning this off would make it black.
what ga123 suggested is the closest you can get.

You can use the very pretty "SamVictor" ...
Ga123 gave instructions that accomplish what you want. The always on display provides a simplified version of the watch face. If gestures is turned off, that will be shown until the screen is touched or the bezel is turned. That is the setup I run on my watch.

Pretty indeed but too simplistic for my needs.

Do you mean 'wake up gesture' in the 'Device' menu? If I turn that off the screen goes blank. Touching the screen doesn't do anything so I'm guessing there's some setting I've missed....

Use a stock watch face or make one with the gear watch designer, you will get AOD. Some custom face watches will blank the screen.

If the screen is black until you twist your wrist, you don't have the always on display enabled.* Goto settings, STYLE -> WATCH ALWAYS ON (the second option). Then every watch face will have two modes,* activated and ambient. The detail displayed depends on the designer's specifications.
Here's a picture of the watch face Boldindex12 with its ambient display and its activated display.
This op doesn't seem to be answered.
I was wondering the same thing and can't find an answer.
Atblangi posted pictures of what i want but it seems not capable of achieving in the means of the op.
Given my enquiry is the same, i will try to reword it.
I want a dim watch face that is always on; when i'm not looking directly at it. But a brighter face that is activated with a gesture (turn the wrist and look at the watch), or an action (press of button or turn of bezel).
I have seen faces that change with light intensity, but what i want (and the op), is a face that changes with a gesture.
Is this possible?
Use Watchmaker faces and you can set all you want for active or dim faces.
is there any way to unlock the phone without pressing the power button or double tap to wake? it's like just rest your finger in the sensor and the screen unlocks.
This behaviour is currently in HaoZeke's LineageOS. I'm looking for a way to disable it since it will unlock my phone while putting it in my pocket... Wanna trade ?

I use a xposed module for that, [LL-MM]Enable Ambient Display - Xposed. Just install it and enable the option Activate doze with proximity sensor.
When you get the mobile out of your pocket, will turn on the display and it would be ready to use the FP reader.

That would drain the battery. Is there any way without ambient display?

It doesn't cause battery drain, my battery duration is almost the same with that module enabled.
Hi guys, any idea how htc managed to implement aod in u11+? Whole display is backlit when aod used or they used some new technique?
Nothing special. The whole display backlight is used, just that it's quite dim. I imagine the display probably has lower power usage for them to even add an option of having the AOD display all day long.
Am facing this from one ui2.5 wherever i turn off aod and unlock the phone display goes to the Yellow but if aod is on then everything is fine no problem but i need to turn off AOD for better battery please help me guys
I did factory and hard factory reset.
i don't think its a hardware issue am heavy user with aod turn on i can use it whole without any problem no display issue ...
Sounds like bad firmware.
Is blue light filter toggled off? Try toggling it the opposite from where it's set.
AOD should use little battery. Use at minimum manual brightness.
Have you tried the double tap to view AOD setting? Maybe you can tricked it...

If tap on AOD solves it be happy; that uses almost no battery or it should.
You could reflash and still have the same issue.
Eventually Samsung will hopefully patch it.
If it really keeps you awake at nights you could send it in for service.
Maybe someone here has a better idea though.
Can you help me i have wifi and pc both so i can give a try lets see if refreshing the frameware can fix this (and if i reflash am still gonna getting updates right)
Is there any way of disabling wrist detection? I'm having issues with it and the best solution would be disabling it.
Do you mean, disable the lock pin after taking off the watch from the wrist?

I mean that when the clock doesn't recognise wrist it turns off always on display and doesn't vibrate from notifications etc. I've heard that older models had a toggle to choose if the clock tries to recognise wrist or not. Detection is not working properly because of tattoos.

I have a similar problem but mostly because I have to wear the watch a little less tight than it wants. So the AOD is a little unreliable. I don't think there is a way to turn wrist detection off or make it less (or perhaps more) sensitive. At least not in the UI- I wonder if there is a setting that could be tweaked through ABD?

No, he is talking about wrist detection. When it thinks it is off your wrist, it stops notifications and AOD automatically.

Yes exactly. I was also wondering if there would be some adb command or modded file that would enable or disable this. I really don't care about heart rate monitor etc but notifications and aod are essential.
