Front camera flare on P4XL - Google Pixel 4 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Default settings. Front and back in similar lighting.
I didn't notice any issues with indoor house lighting though I haven't tested after seeing this.
Anybody else?

I take about 1 selfie cam photo for every thousand from the back. I can deal I guess. Lol

Same here. Unfortunately the back camera at night, specially for videos, will show a lot of reflection artifacts. But I dont take many at night anyway due to the noise.
My hope is that google can make the noise in the night photos better, like the iPhone 11. Night photographs might not be as good as the pixel, but no noise and only subjects got brightened up, while the sky (and water when photographing a lake or the sea) remains dark and natural.
Liking the phone so far though...

This was taken last night. Point shoot and hold. Flares a little but this seems more than ok to me. Way better than the s10+ I came from.

99.9% of the time this is due to a dirty, oily "lens"
Generally you need only wipe the glass over the sensor with a clean, dry cloth (or your shirtsleeve provided you haven't just finished eating a pound of bacon), or a little alcohol, then a dry cloth, and they will disappear.

Camera inquiry

Hey all...
I am thinking of replacing my droid 2 global with a captivate. The only thing holding me back is the lack of a flash. Does anyone have any feedback on both indoor and outdoor shooting with the captivate? Does the camera suffer with no flash?
Feel free to post a sample if you like.
Thanks

I am not a professional photographer by any means, but I personally don't miss not having a flash. My old phone had one so I thought it was a feature I would miss, but it takes great pictures in fairly low light. Of course if it's dark out, you're screwed, but I think it does pretty well without one in most other situations, IMHO.
Yeah that's kinda the answer I have been getting.
Mu Droid 2 global sucks big time...and it has the flash!
I'd rather have an ever-so-slightly darker picture than a completely washed-out-by-the-flash picture any day of the week

[Q] FFC color accuracy

Hi I have two att G3s here and both have terrible color accuracy on the FFC. Is this a known issue and is there a fix? See pics below ...

Anyone? Color is all over the place in the second pic. Blue up top, pinkish in the middle. Is this just how it is?

I took a front and back picture of my door and got a similar result. However, it be the way the light enters the sensor. I haven't noticed it previously but with the door pic, I see a little bit. Not as drastic as your shots though.
Thanks. My wife sent me some selfies of her and our son and they were terrible. I thought maybe it was weird lighting but all pics from the FFC on both phones are the same. Especially noticeable is the coldness up top which almost makes skin tones look grey at times.
At least the rear cam is amazing. I'm surprised this FFC issue isn't talked about.

Natural lighting through closed blinds from behind the shot. Top is FFC, Bottom is Rear.
Gave up on trying to get the exact same angle.
Interesting. The effect is not as strong on yours but your rear camera appears to have it as well.

Just noticed something. With the RFC pic I posted, on photobucket, it doesn't have the same color balance as it does through Windows Photo Viewer. I placed the Windows Photo Viewer pic right over the top of it (to make sure it was the exact same area on my monitor) and the colors are slightly different. So Photobucket itself seems to change the color balance of the photo. Making the pics I posted inaccurate...

yeah mine does too, but honestly, dont see a difference in quality for the cam pics
It's only an issue around the flash since it absorbs some light, and since there's no flash on the front, it doesn't matter. Mine's covering the camera too, no issue at all. I do have a hole for the lightsensor though.
"Edit: think twice about get this one. I was about to install but noticed that it covers up the front camera. I never use the front camera, but still. " Then why cry about it? Most the of the time its just glass so it aint a big problem that its over the lens anyways. But you can get good one's on ebay with the right holes for 3 bucks.

Eclipse photos with Moto x pure

So I live near Harrisburg but I was driving from NJ, while listening to Sheppard Smith coverage the eclipse with amazing satire, I waited till it got closest for me to photo it. So I pulled over on the highway and I couldn't be anymore great ful that it was high clouds in the area.
So I rolled down my window around 2:40 pm to get a few shots while a cirrocumulus cloud was under the eclipse.
So without further ado... Here are the photos using the minimum light possible (low iso)

Nice... I tried to take several, with both the selfie camera and the main camera, and all I got was a ball of light no matter what I did. I am in Bismarck, ND, and we got 85% coverage but you couldn't tell from any of the pictures. Not even gonna bother to upload them.
Looks really cool
Awesome! You know what else came with the eclipse? Oreo! I knew I would get it on my 6P before the pure got nougat. I did take the pure for some eclipse photos. I figured if the camera burned out no real loss ?. Here is a pic of the total.

Camera problem

Hi, I'm very glad of my HTC but I have Strange problem with camera. When I have to take a picture and have strong source of light in front of me, I see strange light objects - something like reflection of this source of light. The same with the sun, light bulb etc
Do you have the same problem or it is typical only for my device?
Thanks for support.
Hubert

Can you post a sample photo here or a link to a photo? That would help to identify the problem
I tried but sth is not OK with this link.
Maybe this time. https://zapodaj.net/c694613bb0b07.jpg.html
You can see it on the door.
Not got that issue on mine, looks like a glare but I'm no expert in regards to photography.

This looks like lens flare. If it is lens flare, it is sometimes caused by a dirty lens which you could reduce or minimize by cleaning the front of the lens with clean cloth and if you can't, move the phone around a little wrt to where the strong light source is can help.
Even the best lenses can have lens flare but so far, I haven't seen it much in my own U11+
The glass is clean. I don't know what to do becouse this is very strange for me. Probably I have give it to check by service.
