Fot some reason don't laugh can't get this phone to let me install my apps on my sd card. Please help
I am also having the problem of locating to setting to move my apps to sd.
Don't feel bad. I think they removed the WPS push button to connect to WiFi. This phone seems so far away from what faithful Stylo users enjoyed about the Stylo... Maybe it's just me, but each cycle the phone just seemed to lose something of itself
Still having issues myself. Very first time i installed the sd card i had an option for internal or external formatting but have not been prompted other than for external formatting since then, even with wiping the sd card and starting fresh
Have you enable developer options and scroll to the bottom to force allow apps on SD card
Lg won't allow to install apps on SD any more this phone has got worse by the numbers. Lol but it was free. Anyway is time to said good bye to LG
Moving apps to sd cards
You must unlock dev options first by going to settings/general/about phone/software info/build number. Then tap it 7 times. After that, go back to settings, and turn on dev options. Once that is on, scroll down to "force allow apps on external". It says that it makes any app eligible to be written to external storage, regardless of manifest values!
Good day, Joshua Bowkley.
Even after doing that I still can't put apps on sd card. I don't think it's possible, but if you have actually installed an app onto your sd card after enabling the force allow write to external regardless of manifest values option in the developers options menu then could you plz email me at [email protected] and show me how cuz I'm on a lease with sprint for my stylo 5 & I'm only on month 4 out of a 18 month lease & I can't afford the lease break price. So I'm stuck & I'm going to run out of storage space soon for my games & I really don't want to give up any, anyways if you can help & are willing to take the time to email me how you did it, if you did it anyways, I'd really appreciate the help plz n tyvm.
It would be nice if you could post the step by step procedure here for the rest of us to enjoy the information and gain a little more knowledge. Remember, sharing is caring. Thank you in advance.

I hope this is the right area to post this, but basically i'm after help from some Android experts and this seemed the place to go.
Basically I appear to have in some way knackered the settings default Install Location for Apps.
I used the well known and pretty straight forward trick of using the adb program in the SDK to override the default install location so it's the SD, and then enabling me to move all my apps to the SD card. It worked perfectly and gained me loads of space, which I promptly filled up with other apps.
However a couple of days ago I had a load of updates to install so I went with the normal "Update All" option and let it go. However it downloaded all the apps but when it got to the install stage for all of them it seemed to fail, it just sat there with all 5 apps and said they were installing, but was like that for a good 5 mins. At this point I made my mistake and thought (stupidly) i'd just turn off the phone and start again.
The result of that however was that now no apps which are stored on the SD card will install. They'll download but the installation will fail instantly. If I move them to the Phone Memory they'll install, but I can't really do this consistently as if I move something over it takes the phone over the ~15mb limit and they won't download at all. Once I get apps on though they will move across to the SD card fine and work
I must have broken some setting somewhere, I'm thinking something has gotten stuck, a flag is raised which I need to lower or something.
I'd greatly appreciate help with this, as my only other alternative seems to be a hard reset.
My handset is an unrooted (obviously) HTC Desire running 2.2
thanks.
Anyone able to help in any way?
Hi, I am running Eclipse's 1.3.1 Rom currently and am having issues with the SD card saving the items I'm downloading from the browser. Initially, when I downloaded files in Dolphin Browser HD it said "Cannot finish download there is not enough space". I have my "Unknown sources" box checked in settings and would be fixed after a good reboot. Although after use of downloading items the downloaded items would disappear from the SD card and history of downloading said items are gone from the browser.
I have tried switching browsers from Dolphin HD to Opera to no avail. For further clarification, Eclipse's Rom to fix the GPS requires you to download the default GPS settings, when I download them on my phone and boot into CWM it's non existent and is gone when I reboot my phone and search through the SD card, along with numerous other files such as GBA roms. Any suggestions and help on my situation? I dont want to have to reinstall a rom.
More info: Now that im home I cannot transfer files over to the phone via USB. The phone mounts and is found on my laptop, but when I transfer the files and unplug the USB it is not found on my phone's SD card. Also, the phone does not have the "USB Connection" sign that comes up and I cannot hit eject on the computer.
I apologize for the double post but a little more information on the subject....
Apps downloaded from the market are completely fine, and they are saved on my SD card.
After a restart I can download files but end up disappearing.
It seems to be an isolated problem with the browser and the SD card
you know they go into the download folder by default and not the root of the card right?

Download this file to your computer. Load it onto the SD card by either using adb, or taking the card out and loading it into a reader. Or if you can think of another way to get it there. Then boot into CWM and flash it.
Then until you learn different I would make flashing that a regular part of ROM installation. Check chadness' full root/rom install instructions in my signature.
I did that initially when I rooted my phone. I restored back to 2.2.1 but it will not let me format my SD Card. I tested it and I cannot delete things from my phone nor add them on....hmm
I was hoping that would work for you. Can you test the card in a reader?

I can't seem to find mine.. and I know it would help a lot of these issues...
I just got this phone last week, I'm gunna bring it into verizon and see what they say. Hopefully they dont see the rom folder I have.
I know I'm paranoid, but I wouldn't give them a rooted phone to look @.
When I took my fassy up there to get the warranty replacement setup, just in case, I stocked the phone first. They didn't even look at the fassy.
But they will have your phone in hand. In the end its about the tech looking at it. If they notice it and/or if they care enough. But if they do mark your acount it would be disappointing if you lost your warranty.
So beware if the phone is rooted. Whats on the card shouldn't matter. Really is none of their business.
edit: this all is my opinion. I don't have any insider knowledge on how verizon or any store employee would react.

I went this morning, did a factory restore to 2.2.1 before I went but still had some files on the SD card. I was a little worried at first but they replaced the SD Card. They did ask for my number so they could mark my account but I dont think it was for warranty issues. Thanks though, I appreciate the help. I just rerooted it and put Humble on it this time.
Hi after having to switch my phone off, when I turned it on again it appears that all the apps I moved to the SD card are no longer there. I have just spent some time downloading them from the market again.
Question is why has this happened and how do I stop it from happening again
Thanks in advance
Solution
Hi Nexus.
I think you'll find that the apps still exist, they're just fragmented on the SD
card. This has happened to me plenty of times.
I've found it's only apps that are installed on the SD card and it's never
happened with apps on the phone's internal ROM.
A good way to check is to go into: Settings- Applications- Manage applications-
then tap the SD card tab. That list shows all of your apps installed on the SD
card. I found that when apps here got fragmented/corrupt they didn't show their
original app icon. Instead they showed the stock android app icon. This is a good
way to tell if the missing apps in question are still there but are just fragmented.
The way to solve this, the way that's worked for me, is to plug the phone into a
pc and mount the SD card as a disk. Then on the PC access the SD card via
explorer and right click- properties- tools- then click de-fragment.
This may take up to 30 mins as it's not as fast as a HDD.
From using this technique my apps have always returned and I can use them
with no problems again.
I've also noticed that this issue only happens if I restart or turn the phone off. I
don't understand what is corrupting the apps as the SD card is mounted
correctly and is the one supplied as standard.
I hope I've helped, and I guess this will save you from re-downloading all of your
apps again.
I'm happy to hear anyone's thoughts/suggestions onto why this is actually
happening in the first place too.
Cheers, Dms
Hi thanks so much for the answer. This has been bugging me for ages and even though I have been searching I have not had any joy solving it until your reply.
As you said it only seems to happen to apps on the sd card, and I would like to know why they are not "persistent" There must be a developer who understands the Android system who can explain why this happens and what you can do to make apps you have on your sd card permanent.
As you said it only happens to me when I re start my phone.
Thanks again for the answer
Hi. It's no problem. Yes I havn't seen anything about this issue being mentioned either.
I'd like to know what's causing it. Whether it's a hardware fault or something in the software.
It's a real pain having to hook it up to my pc to sort it out. Especially when I'm away from a pc, I can't use half of my apps.

Hi all!
I'm having an issue with my S7 (SM-G930FD), I hope somebody can help!
I encrypted my exFAT 64GB Samsung EVO Class 10 Micro SD card about 5 days ago while on holiday (about 40GB worth of photos and videos) without any issues, overnight.
This morning (back at work now ) I noticed that my recent photos were missing. I went to Storage in Settings and saw that the SD Card wasn't actually mounted. Under Portable Storage (Under SD Card) it just says "Ready" like in the photo attached.
No matter what I do, I'm not able to decrypt the SD card or read its contents. I took the card out and used a computer to see if the whole card was corrupt, but it doesn't seem to be because I can see the files in their encrypted state - with file names but without any viewable data or metadata.
Seeing as my S7 is the only device that can decrypt or read the data, what can I do now? As stated, I've tried to decrypt but after I enter my password, I just get a continuous progress bar labelled "Checking SD card" that doesn't end.
I hope someone can help, if not, I've lost about 680 photos and videos from my family holiday :crying:
Patiently awaiting some input - I'd appreciate any help. Please see screenshots for further reference.
Thanks,
Uts.
I take it my data is long gone in that case... balls.
I don't know guy. Seems to me you ought to be more patient. The messages say it could take a while. If it's worth it to you let it run overnight. You would probably get an error message right away if something was wrong. Decrypting 4G of data encrypted with AES128 could take a while on a phone.
I've let it run over night too buddy.
I think I'm going to take the card out of my phone and factory reset it (run without a card until I need more space) because I've read that installing system updates can change the encryption key on the phone, hence not able to read the encrypted SD card. If thats the case, shame on Samsung for not stating that before installing an update!
I don't remember installing an update recently though...
Go to settings, lockscreen and security, screenlock type, and select none. Reboot the phone. U should be able to do what u need to do w/ the SD card now. It's weird but that's how I had to deal w/ that situation. It happens once in a while to me

You, my friend, are a life saver. I did what you said, and it popped up with the Encrypt/Decrypt screen after about 2 minutes once I'd restarted and I tapped Decrypt... hey presto! Took about an hour and a bit to decrypt and then the card was readable!
Thank you so much!
:good::good::good::good::good:
cdigga101 you're an absolute legend!
I spend days with Samsung phone help and Samsung in store trying to get advice.
Your method worked. I owe you a beer, mate.
WOW cdigga101, your method really works. This is freaking amazing!!! I owe you man...how can I repay you!!!!
happy to hear that so many could find help!
I have a similar issue:
- After reboot, the SD card is shown as mounted, folders and files show as encrypted
- when I click on decrypt card an error message explains that the card could not be decrypted
- after this, the SD card is not showing as mounted any more (it says no card inserted)
unfortunately the above did not work for me. any advice would be really great - thank you so much!!
I was continuously getting a message to download update but when I tried it told me not enough storage, so I got an SD card but try as I might I cannot see how to transfer apps onto it to free up space. I have searched Google for answers and some talk of a 3 dot drop-down but this doesn't exist in the SD card area. I only have about a dozen photos on the pad so I don't know what's used up all the space also battery life is very poor. I moved over from iOS devices because of the price but I guess you only get what you pay for.
If you've got the 16gb version the os will take up some of the space so you may not have much left. You can't use apps to SD on all tabs but you might find an option if you search in settings.
Also have you checked in developer options? Go system > about > mash the build number 5 or so times.
You should now have a developer options menu and you may be able to enable it there.
Don't have my tab with me right now to check it's possible but give it a go.
There's an option 'force allow apps on external' give that a try
I don't see that either.
perhaps you mean the one found in "Settings -> Storage -> Default location : SD card " ?
It will require a reboot.
