Google Play Services highest battery user by a mile? - ASUS ZenFone 6 (2019) Questions & Answers

I noticed Google Play Services is by far the highest battery user according to my ZenFone 6, e.g. 40% out of 78% was attributed to it:

I know PS provides services for other apps and is not itself the main problem usually but all guides I read told me that it still shouldn't use that much battery. Is this normal or do I have to hunt for a buggy app? And if so, any ideas on how?
TIA

It is not normal, but I don't have installed your apps.
Google Play Services isn't present in my battery statistics at all, because it is probably lower than 1%.

It's a glitch. Mine does it too but I can still pull down a good day of battery sometimes more.
Also phone idle sits near the same as well which is also another glitch that needs to be fixed

Don't get me wrong, I usually still can go two days without problems but it still seems weird for PS to appear to drain so much

For what it's worth and for those who are interested, the latest beta update for PS seems to have fixed it

Don't let your battery get below 10%?
The system is designed so that when the battery gets too low it turns off a lot of stuff so that the device will last for longer to do what it was actually made for - be a phone.

Indeed often the cpu is slowed down to which would cause lag.
But yes the best thing to stop it would be to keep your phone charged

[Q] Wakelock in 4.1.2 - Xperia L

I have an Xperia L, it has a decent battery backup but it's been worse lately. It was fine a few days ago. This is what battery stats show.
I know there was a mediascanner bug in 4.1.2 and I even knew the solution, but since I'm not rooted, I can't do anything about it. Can anyone help me with a solution which doesn't require rooting? :\
This wasn't happening earlier, could some app be causing it? I deleted most of my apps because of the horrible backup I started getting suddenly.
I'd get around 5-6hours of screentime on one full charge but now I can't manage more than 3-4hours. I have minimum apps, no FB app.

Did you try stamina mode?
Do this
1)Try a factory reset
2)Stamina mode
3)If still problem goes on, take it to the service cetner

Wifi/Android System/ Android OS problems.

Hi, I need help on this. It has been days since my battery has gone haywire and I don't know what happened. I just saw that my WIFI isn't turning off even though i toggled itoff in settings/quick settings. I thought maybe a simple reboot may fix it but no. I came from CO12 to Exodus to Bliss but all have the same problems. Wifi isn't turning off! All my settings are stock. Kernels are stock also. I'm getting an average battery life of 3 1/2 hrs SOT which is awful for my usage. Also AndroidSystem and OS is killing my battery but I disabled Google PlayServices which should help. My only concern is the Wifi not turning off. Pls help thanks

Hi.
I use this app wich does only cut on and off the network: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.aDataOnOff&hl=en
(you can also apply a screen filter to help stop battery drain)
But I doubt its your only problem... I tested with and without the app, and the difference is almost not visible. Also, my wifi (when app off) is in third place on battery usage, and I have at least a good 5-6 SOT..

Some people say that it is a common bug in Android 5.0. Can anyone confirm?

The known bug with wifi is not battery drain but the difficulty to connect, to link the network.

Cannot check for New Updates

When I hit the following, I get no action from the device:
Download Updates Manually
Scheduled Software Updates
It should bring me to the next page but it doesn't do anything. I've noticed this for the past two days. Not rooted. Stock.

Any ideas? I've not found any similar topic.
I've checked running services under Dev options and I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary. No weird third party apps installed.
Most likely unrelated, I've had terrible performance past couple of days, including excessive heat and high battery consumption. Additional issues include YouTube and Netflix pausing randomly (gestures off and on local 60Mb wifi).
Updating.
It was the latest Oculus Update.
Uninstalled Oculus.
My battery life issues, heat, and inability to check for updates all went away. Probably will be a news article shortly.
It has to be the oculus update my phone barely works really slow can't watch YouTube can barely type this reply.im stock pg1 not rooted.

Just update to the new firmware.(with odin if you continue to have issues)
I Uninstal all the oculus files accept for my downloads like the games and Netflix vr, now everything is back to normal. YouTube works no lag and I can type fast again.

Poor battery with the latest beta?

Hello everyone,
Figured I'd throw this out there. Ive been experiencing very poor battery performance with latest OTA_Beta_4.
Before I revert back to something else I wanted to see if anyone else has had the same results?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I am experiencing the same issue, thinking about reverting too.
That's normal when it comes to beta releases. They usually have more logging going on in the background causing more drain.

Likewise, haven't had this bad of standby in the past 6 months I've owned the phone. Ever since Beta 4, everything else is the same as before but my SOT has dropped by almost 50%. Also did a cache wipe a few days ago, so far no changes

Nothing at all my guess your apps are draining your battery use a battery monitor like Gsam or something to monitor the drain.
