I posted this on another tech forum too, but I am looking to anyone and everyone for answers before I go crazy.
I have an HTC Wildfire S, currently with version 4.2.2 Jellybean. This error has been pestering me ever since my first ICS ROM 4.0.4. I have tried numerous versions of gapps, numerous resets. This has come to happen daily no matter what I do. It only affects the Play Store. I have endlessly searched online and tried different things to no avail, now across 3 Android versions built by different developers. It got worse as of 4.1.2 and is no better in 4.2.2. Using the standard gapps flashables and the built in one to the 4.1.2 ROM, this error will come daily out of nowhere. Usually it shows when I open the Play Store or when I try and run a paid app. In that case(running paid app), it will get so relentless that I can't do anything with my phone but clear dalvik and reboot. It will stop any work I am doing with the constant error. Clear data no help. Force stop just has it restarting on its own. Clear cache no help. Clear Google Account no help. Only clearing the dalvik like a good little girl and rebooting clears it for a little while and lets me use paid apps and the Play Store, only to have it resurface hours later. Reflashing gapps, even after totally wiping them only does about as much as just clearing the dalvik cache. In desperation, since it seemed to mostly happen when launching paid apps, I tried a Play Store with the licensing system hacked. Besides being able to launch my BOUGHT apps offline(like offline games should be able to), this offered 1 improvement. I no longer have it flash up randomly during work with other apps or when launching a paid app. But, I do still have it come up as soon as I try and launch the Play Store in about the same amount of time. The temporary cure: same thing. At least I am not forced out of other apps. My guess is the hacked version does not make the crashing library load to check the license online, hence this improvement. But it still sucks when I want to install or update an app. I would have quit the Play Store and bought from Amazon and others if I have not already paid for so many apps over time I can't use or update without it.
Given I have got it so that it only happens when I launch Play(with hacked Play Store only, otherwise the random relentless error happens(usually when launching or working with a paid app) with any normal version of Google Apps and Google Play in addition to when I launch Play), I am about to either become a pirate and install black market(can have paid apps and avoid launching Gay Store, which would avoid this with the hacked Play Store as unlike the regular builds, it only happens when I actually launch Play) or get an iphone. After over a year, I am just so sick of this error and it's driving me loony. Have never found an answer to it or a fix when searching online. Nor have I been able to trace or figure out why this is happening. Only common thread(besides the hardware) is the ROMs are all stable CM builds, but different Android versions and different developers. I hate to become a pirate to solve this, but I am at wits end and really don't want Apple. I just want something stable, which my setup otherwise is, except for the Play Store. Again, clearing the dalvik cache is the only thing that lets me use it again, but the error will rear its ugly head again anywhere from hours to a day or 2. Please help me. Piracy is not a good fix but iphones are even worse. I will not pay for all my apps again through Amazon. That is just not an option for me, with money being tight and all. The only reason I would consider splurging on an iphone is so I never lose an investment due to a faulty appstore again and to punish Google for this miserable failure by handing over no more money to them.

Full wipe should have been done between different dev's roms.
Then flash your favorite rom and start from scratch with everything.
It will fix your error definitely.

Thanks for trying but definitely not. I full wipe before every flash of a new ROM and even did it a few times and reinstalled the last 2 ROMS to no avail. Seems to fix it a bit longer than wiping dalvik, but inevitably, the error comes back within days. This is even without restoring my Titanium backup and reinstalling apps from scratch via Play. But again, thank you for being the first to try. But I do know to full wipe /system, /cache, and /data, and sd-ext before even restoring backups, let alone a new ROM install. I do this in TWRP 1 partition at a time then flash or restore(whichever applies) then usually wipe dalvik after for good measure

Any more ideas? I never said this would be easy. In fact, the fact I posted here suggests that it will not. I am experienced with Linux systems and troubleshooting thereof and generally pretty good with Androids and modding. I love helping people but despise asking questions of others and only do so in desperation. Usually content to troubleshoot and lookup info myself and always been that way. But I feel I have reached a dead end, so now I call upon a forum I see as loving challenges to hopefully bail me out. Thanks again, guys. Note:had this issue with 1 other device that dropped dead before I could troubleshoot: a Pantech Burst, also with ICS and JB(was fine on GB as was this HTC Wildfire). It also had no other issues outside of a few minor things listed under bugs for its ROM, just like this phone.

Not S-Off, which was deemed impossible with Wildfire S at the time I started flashing ROMS. Bootloader is unlocked, however, which is said to be good enough for flashing from zip files. All changes I make to /system from TWRP stick permanently. As to whether I had the issue on GB, didn't as far as I left it on there, which was not long at all. Just a matter of days. I loathed the stock Sense 2.1 ROM and only bought this phone off my friend because it was very capable of being modded, otherwise, I would have passed, even at $25 I paid over a year ago. The other phone with same issue started the issue with stock ICS, which continued with custom ROMs. I mention this because that phone had no secuflag. Just a locked bootloader that was easily hacked to unlocked. All root apps do their job with no issue and all my added init scripts(mostly for internet tweaking, etc) stick.

I just think that it might because of tweaking.
Partly right. I wiped the phone. Reapplied basic tweaks and was fine. So before letting it pull all my apps back in, I fired up a cheap Chinese tablet that is often used as a victim to my experiments. I installed my previous apps 1 by 1, as this tablet never had the issue. Went on a sudden hunch I had and set Cache Apps to SD Card up and let it run as it binds all app caches. Let it go overnight. In the morning, BAM! Play Store was stopping. Restored apps on my Wildfire S but used a shell script I wrote instead of that app. No Play crashes all day. Funny it probably caused it on my Burst too(RIP). I used the app on several GB phones with no issue but either a Play update, an update to the app, or ICS+ cause this app and Play not to play well. This app does not have many settings to try and fix it. Thus I would avoid that app until further notice. Funny how it's on Play but crashes Play

I disabled Google Play Services and Google Services Framework on my Moto G, because I don't need them and the Play Store (I sideload all my apps from the pc).
But there's a big problem: if I disable even one of them, and try to enable the geolocation, it only uses the option "high precision" and, worse then that, it makes all the android framework crash and reboot if I try to open any geolocation-using app (like Google Maps or the camera with geo-ON). Any hint to solve this issue? I really want to get rid of these services, for battery and privacy reasons (in particular, battery improvements are really noticeable!).
UPDATE: I don't get this bug UNLESS I reboot the phone. If I do, I get this issue. If I don't, Maps still works even with these services disabled. I'd like anyway to solve this problem so I don't have to make laborious procedures everytime the phone reboot (I already have to kill 5 motorola processes, i.e. Motocare and Motorola Services ones).
I've attached a pair of screens to clarify my situation. I'm on the STOCK and NO-ROOTED rom.
Thank you very much in advance
So you do need Google services? But don't want to need them, my advice flash stock android ROM without using G-apps

No, I'm on the stock android and not need them. But if I disable them, and I reboot the phone, all the geolocating app I use make the system crash, that's a weird behaviour. To convince yourself, you can disable both the services, restart the phone, open Google Maps and press the location button.
If I don't reboot the phone, instead, Google Maps continues to work even with this two services disabled... that's what confuses me
I basically meant stock and stripped like CM11 without Gapps

Basically, you're going to have to root and flash your phone. You can't remove Google services on stock.

I am one of those who do they everyday work without google stuff and without gapps. I found out several problems:
Some apps do not install because of missing Google Maps API
Some apps fc at startup bacause of missing Maps API or market license check issues
Some apps hardcoded links to several Google Apps and therefor fc or react unexpectedly on certain cases.
No access to Play Store (i tried nearly every alternative market, but nothing is as good for free apps as play store) Meanwhile, F-Droid provides nearly everything you need

Thank you for the intereeting link. Unluckily it regards mainly rooted devices... Pretty interesting though
Let me see if I get this right. You purchased a phone manufactured by Google, using a stock Rom compiled by Google, and you are trying to used Google software (Google Maps or Motorola Camera software- by Google) and you find it surprising that the system crashes after disabling Google's framework? And you are hoping to solve this without rooting or flashing a custom Rom? Seriously?
Sorry for the ironic tone, but you really need to give the idea of making a thread for this a second thought, my friend.
No problem for the ironic tone, but I can ensure you that I'm running Google Maps and (Motorola, not Google!) Camera App geotag WITHOUT having these two services enabled, and they work flawlessy the problem is ONLY when I REBOOT the phone, in which case I must enable and disable again these services in order to make apps with geolocation work without crashing the system. I will attach a screenshot of my running processes in the STOCK and NOROOT rom, and I ensure you that apart this small, boot-time issue, everything works great on my phone (with a great battery boost, I've been able to achieve 9 hours of screen time plus 1hr of calls, what do you think?).
I've about 50 apps installed, I just don't like Motorola and Google ones because they keep running about all the time, sucking out a lot of private data and battery juice
Well I am new to Android and also have/had problems using the moto g. I disabled all Google apps and stuff I could find and the OS is not really stable, I get quite a few hiccups and the phone crashes every now and then. I thought the nova launcher might be the problem, but I also suspect the OS in general.
But unlike you I don't use any Google stuff, so not even maps.
Well, I am selling the phone anyway.
No crashes here apart this Maps tweak, so it sound's really weird... maybed you disabled some critical services. On my device, with kitkat 4.4.2, ART compiler, everything is more than stable. You could try a factory reset or switching from Dalvik to ART too...
Sounds like a gigantic hassle. I don't think these services use much battery at all.

Before saying that, try and let me know
(as soon I will use it in a regoular way - I.e. not gaming and not browsing all the time - I'll post a screenshot proving the 9 hours of screen time, that I wasn't able to reach with Google services enabled)
Ive had 9 hours screen time with google services enabled but that was just doing light stuff ,got 2.5 days out of my last battery charge but that was with only 5 hours screen time but mine is rooted and greenified now.
Cant think of a solution to your problem sorry, guess you will just have to avoid rebooting.
yes, I guess so...
I need to reinstall Google play services on my moto g how do I do this?
This thread is over a year old and totally unrelated to your question. Searching the forums is my advice because you are pretty unlikely to find an answer to your question by posting in this particular thread
Hi ... I'm a n00b when it comes to phone hacks but not technology so please don't dumb your answers down on account of me.
We bought two Tmobile Samsung Avants a cpl days ago (one to use and one as a spare) because the price was right and I'm leaving a WM device for Android. HOWEVER I don't like the idea that Google, who has no personal or business relationship with me, has access to all my personal information just because I'm using a phone they've branded. So I'm looking for an Android ROM that doesn't have Google tentacles in it.
I've been researching this since we got the phones but I'm not clear on what ROMS are avail for my phone ... it doesn't look like cyanogenmod has one (although they have one for my gf's old Exhibit T599!! ) - is there a repository, website or thread I haven't found that has a list of what's out there? am I stuck rooting the phone and MANUALLY removing everything? The phones have Kitkat installed.
I saw a youtube vid where they've ported Lollipop to the Avant - would that come de-Googled?
Do Android ROMs from Android come without a Google footprint? Some users have posted that Android as an independent company is not necessarily Google and their OS is NOT a Google product so my thoughts are you can have one without the other.
Any help / info is appreciated. thanks!

There is a project that doesnt have google stuff but you lose alot. Like no app store and things like that. Also Android is a google project. Like WP is by microsoft.
No there is no site like you are looking for.
Android is not a company but an OS like IOS, Windows, Linux and such.
The issue is mainly that if your device is not widely used then there may not be anything available for it. You also need to find out if the bootloader is locked or not and if kernel source is available for the device.
Google doesnt brand phones persay. The android operating system is theirs.

Google has not shown itself to be a malicious company. Is it a little creepy that they know everything about you? Yes. Will it make your user experience better? Probably. When you flash a custom ROM it removes all of the Google apps but the Google apps are really useful. Play Store, Maps, Gmail (can store all your contacts so if you get a new phone you can just import them), etc. are all very useful in my opinion. I don't personally need Google Music for example so I deleted that. All of my music comes through Spotify and Bandcamp downloads. But I can't imagine my phone without the Play Store and Gmail. It would make the experience very annoying. Cyanogen Inc. is looking into pushing their ROMs on to retail Android phones so the phone would come with Cyanogenmod and have their own equivalent to GApps. But, that won't happen for a while. The best bet to get Google out of your hair is to root it and delete the apps you don't need, or use SlimRom.
Edit: Make sure your phone is the same model as the ones that SlimRom is created for.

This is not true. Even without gapps there are still many google base system files that are built into the system. There is only one Google-less project that is being worked on but they do have issues as the OS is not built to run without them. Even Slim Rom still use alot of googles stuff.

I didn't say you can completely de-Google an Android device. But, you can make it appear to be de-Googled, although the system files you mentioned will still be there. But you can completely opt out of Gmail and the like.

I used to have an IT company not too long ago and I run a bunch of commercial grade servers in my house - My needs aren't the same as the typical phone user with respect to data redundancy, cloud computing, etc - I have that capability already. I pretty much use my phone to snap photos, internet browsing, texting, making calls and sometimes use the gps when driving. What I don't need is a copy of all my activity, contacts, calls, texts and browsing history stored on google servers to be sold or given to entities that I a. wouldn't consent to b. have no clue it's happening.
I don't really care if there is a Google footprint left in the phone, I just want to remove Google's ability to mine my personal data from my phone which also includes registering my device via a google+ account.
With respect to playstore, isn't Aptoid a suitable alternative?
What is SlimROM? where can I get more info on it? I saw the post you had linked to originally which prompted me to post my OP because I couldn't find any other info on it

No Dont use that. They are all warez and are known for including data miners, Keyloggers and screen recorders.
Ill be honest. You picked the wrong OS for that then. GPS itself uses google software to connect to the satalites.
This is your best option

i picked this baby monitor that uses a small android tablet as a monitor. im extremely new at modding with no tutorial lol so im stuck. i have so far been able to sideload apps fine and have got nova launcher installed and device rooted. the unit already had play services gmail maps and a few other gapps installed. the issue im facing now is i cant get anything on the playstore to update or install/download. i just get the error saying cant update Google pla services, try again and if it dowsnt work see common ways to fix. i get the same issue no matter the app i try and without updating play services im kinda limited on what i can do. hat can i do to fix the unable to download issue with play store.
also vtech has this version stripped pretty far. missing alot of options in settiongs and no security options lol. any wat to restore that and maybe home button?
Hi,
I purchased a new phone a Motorola Edge S (hardware SKU XT2125-4), unfortunately it is a China ROM phone which means it didn't come with Google play store. This was side loaded and I am able to install apps from google. But I have SO many issues with this and I am hoping someone has something helpful to actually use this phone
1. When I try to use Google setup a nearby device (to transfer everything over to this phone), it simply can't find my new phone (despite having bluetooth and location on for both phones
2. I can't restore contacts from google drive even though I can connect
3. I downloaded the MAGISK app, however the file browser is unable to install as the app is not allowed. The toggle to trust the app can not be changed.
I am at a loss as to how to actually use this phone as essentially it's useless at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.
It is already running Android Version 11
Baseband version M55_HI20_209.334.01.60R NIO_PVT_SUPERSDS_CUST
Kernel Version 4.19.136-perf+
Build Number RRN31.Q1-20-17-6
I can provide any / all other information if needed
If the solution is to root the phone, I'm ok with that too, but see point 3.
I'm in the same situation. Purchased the XT2125 as well. Got the Google stuff working by side loading the play store, services and framework. However, initially, while everything else was working, the contacts wouldn't sync. After a few hours of searching, finally came across an article which said that I also needed to side load an apk called google contacts sync and give it permission. Contacts started syncing after that. Fast forward a couple of days and a system update later, SMS are delivered with really long delays and outbound ones fail. Google maps crashes constantly and navigation just doesn't work. I don't know what to do with this phone now honestly, since I need Google maps navigation on a regular basis. Have tried reinstalling maps, resetting permissions, clearing cache and data but nothing seems to work. And with the SMS delay, I can't sign on our complete transactions on a lot of apps because the SMS usually arrives after such a delay that the code has expired. Feels like such a waste of money this phone even though it's supposed to be great bang for the buck.
I am hopeful that when they release the Moto G100 (same phone actually), that we will be able to flash it with this ROM to make it usable.

Hi,
I purchased a new phone a Motorola Edge S (hardware SKU XT2125-4), unfortunately it is a China ROM phone which means it didn't come with Google play store.

Wait it's like that with motorola too
I thought it's only like that with xiaomi
Seems like even with motorola it doesn't come with google apps if it's a china rom
Though it was only with xiaomi where if it's a china rom it doesn't come with any google apps guess im wrong

Yeah, I think it's being released in a couple of days. Anyway, I did a factory reset and the maps issues sorted out. Had to go through the pain of sideloading google again but the device is being shown as google play certified, but yeah, would be nice to just have the international rom on it.
Were you able to make any headway with your device? I didn't put a sim in mine but the rest of it seems to be working ok, except Youtube Vanced isn't signing in with a google account.
