Mate 20 Pro rooted and unrooted once. Now it won't get rooted anymore no matter what - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys.
Like I've written in the title, I have rooted my device with magisk.
I've installed a few modules one of which has caused problems so I have unrooted it or so (don't exactly remember because it has been months ago).
Afterwards, I have tried to root the device again but everything has failed.
I do the exact same steps as described, which had worked before, but this time, it just won't get rooted anymore.
I've tried everything that came to my mind but it has always failed.
No one was able to help on the forum of the device which is why I'm asking here now.
I had also tried to install TWRP and root that way but it wouldn't let me install anything, so I couldn't install magisk that way.
The guide I'm talking about can be found at the following link.

[Q] Not Rooted Anymore? I Was Rooted Before Soft Brick

Hi all,
Can't quite figure this one out. I've had no trouble rooting my phone and installing different ROMs...up until I soft bricked my phone a few weeks ago and managed to get it back.
After doing this though, even though I was able to install Viper's ROM, apparently now I'm unrooted, even though I still have downloaded SU on my phone. I tried to update it, but it failed.
I'm just really confused, never had this issue before.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.
Depending on how you managed to get it back, you may have unrooted it. Never seen that happen though, I caught a soft brick once, but I still had root afterwards.
It SHOULD be as easy as flashing the superSU ZIP file in Hasoon2000's toolkit to get root back.

[Q] HELP NEEDED! Rooting Android Phone

This is my phone:
View attachment 2936156
My goal is to root an android phone that I just received today in order to install custom ROM's onto it. I have no experience with rooting android phones and everything I did was based purely off of things I found online. Naturally, when things didn't go as planned, I didn't know how to trouble shoot the problem.
At first, this is the website I followed for rooting: androidxda.com/root-coolpad-f1-8297
Following that website's instructions, I got to step 6 of using framaroot to root my phone. Step 6 is where I got stuck at. Instead of saying success, I got error #9 that told me to try and use other exploits. I tried all 3 and all of them and all three failed. What went wrong?
Besides, using Framaroot, I've also tried using Kingo Root.
However, upon opening the program and waiting a few minutes, there was a popup saying something along the lines of me not being able to connect to the server.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing wrong. Please help!
EDIT: I tried using Kingo Root today and it seemed to be working okay until my phone just suddenly restarted by itself. On the Kingo Root app, it said that the root failed because of timeout. The phone restarted by itself all other times I tried rooting with Kingo Root. Besides Kingo Root, I've also used vroot and my phone also restarted. Is it supposed to be restarting automatically?

Even check if the bootloader was unlocked? The coolpad I had was unlocked. Just flash a supersu zip.

I googled it and followed the instructions from this site: androidxda.com/root-android-device-cydia-impactor
At step 5, I occurred into a problem. After I pressed start, a popup appeared saying, "Signature bugs unavailable" after a few moments.
Anyone else?
Bump!

Hello bro try to find if there is any custom recovery for your device.. Like cwm, twrp etc...
If you find any custom recovery for your device then flash it. You should Google for it.
Then download superSU.Zip. You can download it from
download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/
Then with custom recovery install this zip and reboot...
Your phone will be rooted... 100% working

For some reason, both CWM and TWRP don't have the Coolpad F1 8297 listed as a supported device. When I searched up "custom recovery for Coolpad F1 8297", there wasn't really anything related to it. Any advice?
Stuck at step 1 :crying:

[Completed] lg g2 vs98027a verizon 4.4.2 cant update binaries

Hello everyone i am new to the forums and i am asking a question regarding updating the su binaries on my phone. I got my g2 back in november because they were out of one m7s and this was the second best phone. So i went home and figured id root it. I didnt really want a rom i just like being able to record my screen and mess with the clocks. So none of the ways to root this phone worked so i tired this one in chinese. I succesfully rooted my phon. And it installed supersu. It said i needed to update the binaries so i hit ok. It said it failed. I tried updateing them by moving the .su directly to the folder, but sense i dont even have root permissions because i dint have a .su, it was unsuccessful. So what are my options? Im only 14 and kinda new at rooting, i have done it on two phones before, so please keep it simple. I dont care about keeping my data so i can i flash a stock rom? I. Tried it before but the method was for the 16 gig version which used a kdz file and sense i have a 32 gig version i needed a different file for some reason. In my phone settings it says im rooted and in recovery mode it o whatever pressing vol down and power with a usb connected do does, it says so to. I do NOT have access and i cant figure out how to update the .su and i could really use some help. Could you give me a link or something showing me how to flash a stock rom, or cyanogenmod? Or just getting a way to update the .su would be fine. Sorry for the long description i just want it to be easy for you to diagnose my problem.
Thanks,
Riley

You can check this thread about root on your device: [Root] Stump Root for LG Devices (2012 - 2014) Big update 1.2.0.
And here is the SuperSu app thread: [STABLE][2015.01.20] SuperSU v2.45.
In the first post there is also a zip file for flashing in custom recovery. If you use this, you won't need the binaries updating process like after updating via Play store.
For registered users, there is more help in the root Q&A thread for your device, and for the SuperSU app update in the SuperSU support thread.
Thread closed. Thank you.

[Help] Idol 3 Rooting

Hi,
a couple months ago, I successfully rooted my Idol 3 with the "root.bat" method. I realised a week ago that my phone was not rooted anymore and I tried to re-root it in the same fasion, but it didn't work. I then proceeded to unlock the TWRP recovery loader and re-installed SuperSU from there. I used RootCheck to see if my device was rooted and it is not. I can't gain root access either and SuperSU prompts me with a dialog box saying "SuperSU binary needs to be updated". If anyone can offer any help, I would greatly appreciate it I'm a little nooby when it comes to rooting, so if I was too vague in my description of the problem, please point it out so I can be more specific.
Thanks,
-Yasio
Found a solution if anyone is ever intrested!
Turns out my firmware had some sort of issue, so I used the Mobile Upgrade Q utility and just re-flashed the phone with the stock firmware. You can find a whole tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/help/return-to-stock-firmware-recovery-t3216077)?
It's super easy. Then, I just re-rooted the phone with the TWRP method DallasCZ came up with also posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-root-alcatel-t3161878
And there you go, I got root access back and got rid of the freakin' "Binary files need to be updated" or w/e prompt in SuperSU.
Thanks again to DallasCZ and others for their hard work on the rooting scene for the Idol 3. I love this phone and you made me love it even more

Please help

Guys, my son messed up and followed instructions off the Max "HighOnAndroid" at www.galaxynote5root.com
He flashed twrp 3.0.2-1
He followed step by step. After flashing twrp, he booted back into recovery and flashed
No-verify-opt-encrypt
And
Update-SuperSU-v2.46
When he booted it back up, its stuck on the sprint splash screen. It is specifically in the screen that says LTE Plus More spectrum better network.
After I got off from work, I came home to him crying.
Ok, I have started to download the factory ROM from Sammobile but I am wondering if maybe there isnt an easier fix. I am not to familiar with changing kernels. Ive never needed to worry about them. Could I maybe just need to flash a new kernel?
From looking on here, really all he needed to do was flash twrp then SuperSU... Does anyone know a way to fix this faster than waiting 6 hours for the Sammobile stock rom?
Please help
Edit....
Ok guys...
I got the file downloaded from sammobile. I installed it and got it installed and working. Then I tried to do the root myself. I followed the guide on this site. However I still couldn't get it working. It was still bootlooping. But not the same bootloop. This time around, it didn't get past the very 1st screen. I again flashed back the stock ROM and again everything works fine.
The files I tried to install are:
Twrp-3.0.2-1nobleltespr.tar.md5
Then I did the twrp install boot deal, booted into twrp and installed:
BeastMode-Stock-N920P-1.3-O16.tar.md5
BETA-Flashable_SuperSU-2.52
I now take it that the issue is my twrp says noble while I read not to use the noble kernel to use BeastMode. But I could be way off...
Man alive, I didn't know just how much I appreciated CF Auto Root until just now...
You probably already figured this out by now but follow the instructions and links in my thread. You should only reboot directly to twrp from download mode after flashing twrp btw in case you haven't figured it out by now.
The method you are using is from a very old thread. Follow the instructions in the thread below.

Thank you for responding. I was able to get the factory ROM installed and working fine.
I have downloaded the MOAR for the device and plan on giving it a go.
I still haven't been able to root the phone. EVERYTHING I tried resulted in bootloop. So I just decided to stick to stock on his phone until I can actually get it figured out...
As far as the SuperSu being old, I got it directly from the website of the maker. https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/
I REALLY want to get this phone rooted for him, as I am certain he is going to keep trying following random YouTube videos regardless of my instruction.
Like I said in my last post, I have never missed cf auto root so badly...

Root on stock is relatively simple.
TWRP + SuperSU only.
But as you saw, it's still easy to get it wrong.

Ok, so since I have flashed TWRP and SuperSU, and all it ever does it bootloop, would I be able to install TWRP, then flash MOAR on top of it? Then I would have a rooted MOAR if I understand correctly. My issue is that ive always had root accomplished before installing a custom ROM.
If all I have to do is flash twrp then SuperSU, I dont understand what I could be doing wrong.
But I'm going to take a look at your link you provided and see if I can't get root 1st.

Old habits are hard to break. A properly deodexed rom that is pre-rooted only requires twrp and a proper wipe before installing.
For rooting stock, it really is fairly simple. The instructions I provided are probably a little overly detailed but I had to cover as much as possible for those that have never done it before so it 'looks' complex but once you've done it a few times you will see that its really not that hard to do.

Thank you for pointing me to your thread. I was able to get root on my sons phone. Hard to believe the SuperSU was the problem... But it was... I was using the one from chainfires site, but yours worked when his created bootloops.
Thanks again!
Is there a root method for pk1
