It's enabled server side, even in the beta, according to a news article I read, I'm also on beta with no dark mode
If your phone setting ui is in dark mode, whatsapp beta will be too automatically. Just go into developper setting by pressing a few time on build number in the phone info .
Look for overide force dark, enabled. Close open whatsapp.
Its basicly forcing any app with dark theme to enable it

Hi the problem is that it turns other apps to dark mode without an option to disable it rendering some part of those apps with odd colors.

So I've noticed since upgrading to Pie, when using the quick toggle switches, the wrong item is displayed at the bottom of the screen. If I was to click the wifi toggle, it will say mobile data enabled at the bottom of the screen. If I was to click the wifi toggle off, it says wifi enabled at the bottom. I'm 110% stock (Verizon version ?) thoughts?

I don't remember seeing this, but do you use any themes? If yes, try to remove the theme and see how it is without it

My phone is 110% stock. Even the wallpaper comes from the preloaded ones
Gotta be an app you have installed. I just reset to most recent stock 9 a few days ago and don't even get toast notifications when using the quick settings.

I can't figure it out for the life of me. I think you are on your way something tho, either an app or a setting. None of the other toggles show a toast notification. Don't wanna factory reset, might just have to tho
Mine keeps enabling "Night Mode" to "Always on" all by itself. I set it to "Always off" and it turns itself back on again after just a few minutes.
Weird stuff going on.
I may just start going through system apps and clearing cache and see what happens.

That I believe is because you have night mode turned on in the messages app, or any other Google app that has a dark mode setting. The night mode setting in developer options I've noticed, doesn't really matter. When I use Android auto, it switches between day and night on its own. Now if I pick up my device and use it while it is still plugged into my car, and I open messages which I have dark mode enabled, it will switch Android auto to dark. And I would have to unplug the USB and plug it back in. Hope that helps

You're absolutely right. The night mode setting for the notification pull down follows the setting in the Messages app ... which I had turned on.
Thanks! That was driving me nuts.

After using it for a day, i decided to make a review
1.The finally bought the support for dolby atmos for bluetooth devices
2.P30 pro round boxes
3.Better fludity?
4.Games are running smoother now (Free fire for example)
5.Always on display shows third party notifications now (or icons, how you like to call them)
6.Gestures has a tutorial option
7.New animations
8.New camera option : Moving picture
9.You can launch google assistant using the power button (hold it for a second. To turn it off hold it for 3 seconds. Can be toggled)
10.Wifi calling icon option in status bar
11.Mirror link became a user app instead of system app
12.Music app can be finally shut down (force closed)
13.New options in Developer options. Nothing that special since they are just 2 bluetooth related options
14.Less battery drain than previous build?
15.You can now go in safe mode through recovery
16.Huawei VC is a user app instead of system app
17.Apparently the auto management app launch is a bit better than in previous build?
18.Call's wallpapers change each call.
19.Camera quality seems improved?
20.Simple mode has been updated. It is much better now
21.4g battery drain has been semi-fixed?
I highly recommend to clean your cache in recovery after the update or if you already have the update
Till now I wasn't able to enter recovery mode.

1.Turn off your phone
2.Hold power button+ Vol up button
3.As soon as the HUAWEI words come up on screen, ler go of the power button and hold the vol up button until recovery shows up
Or, if you got a pc
1.Enable usb debugging
2.type : adb reboot recovery
What I have noticed since the last update (311) is that now, when I slide down the notification bar, if there are new emails I click on them and it opens the list in the notification bar, it does not go directly on the email app, whereas in the previous version it was taking you directly in the app, unless you clicked on the upper part of the notification; then it was expanding the emails. It is a real pita this way.. I hope it can be fixed somehow

Bump so people will know why they should update to emui 9.1
Motion picture was always on the camera. you just noticed it now. they removed, the edition of portrait effect after taknig the photos. they didnt add HDR to front facing camera(but it seem that ffcamera is better now in some scenarios) still they need to add nightmode on the selfie camera, its sad that even a low tier p30 lite got it but mate 20 and p20 didnt...
They've also removed a list of layout grids available from Camera settings, replacing them with the only option of Assistive grid, which is the rule of thirds. Composition is not so important anymore, beautification is the new fundamental.

Hello,
Is there any way to get Automatic dark mode to work on OxygenOS?
Before, you could use the app "Auto Dark Theme", but one of the latest OxygenOS updates broke it so that SystemUI dark mode cannot be disabled automatically anymore.
The app changes the in app and notification dark mode settings just fine, but the quick settings stay dark all the time.
I also tried tasker, but it seems to use the same command as "Auto Dark Theme" because it shows the same behaviour.
I'm on Open Beta 8.
Not sure if this is what you are after.

Thanks, the app is indeed very nice, but I'm not rooted atm, do I would prefer an adb based solution.
Go into developer options, and enable Override Force dark mode, or something like that. Do a search for the word "dark" in that screen.
I'm not sure if that setting requires root.
Did you find any way to make the app "OP dark mode toggler" work without root using adb commands??

Thanks, but that isn't automatic, so changing it manually every time really annoyed me.

When I started the app, nothing happened because I don't have root obviously but there seems to be no other option.
Is there a solution for the auto darkmode problem?
Over the past week, I upgraded to 10, July update and then began noticing that the stock android dialer was stuck in dark mode. Really oddly, the favorites, recents, contacts, and voicemail page are in light mode, and the app setting is in light mode, but when I dial any number the display turns to dark mode. I have light mode set as default, except when in battery saver mode, and have toggled the "override force-dark" mode in developer options back and forth, but still the same outcome. I have reverted to the 46.0.301643300 phone app from a newer version, but that did not help. I feel like I am looking in the wrong place for a switch, but can't figure it out. My wife has the same phone and her dialer is in light mode... BTW these are direct from Google phones, not Verizon version, and I am stock rooted with Magisk, no other mods going on...
Any thoughts?
What actually is the dialer app? I froze the google "phone" app, and when I use my other dialer app to dial a number, the actual phone dialer still is functional. How can the phone dial with the dialer app frozen? Which is leading me to ask what actually dials, because this is what is stuck in dark mode. This is more than annoying, as I cannot see this screen during bright daylight. There has to be some way to get back to light mode...
Somebody??
I think the dialer is in the contacts app.

Yes, I believe you are correct, but what is REALLY strange is that all the pages in the Contacts app are in light mode. ONLY the dialer screen (once a call is initiated, either incoming or outgoing) is dark. All other pages of the Contacts or Phone app are light...
Its driving me nuts...
Have you tried reverting then updating the contacts app, or wiping it?

Not the contacts app, but the Phone app, yes. I suppose I should do both...
Does anyone know where the system UI picks up the sunset/sunrise setting from? I have this setting applied but it activates about 2 hours later that it should be. The system time is correct (GMT in the UK) and I've also noticed the weather app has the correct sunset/sunrise info. The current software version is MIUI Global 13.0.27.
Thanks.
Also, when dark mode does apply itself it only partly applies to the Google Discover feed - some of the areas stay light so you get white text on a white background. I have to switch Discover off and on again for dark mode to apply itself properly there.

Thanks, but I hope I don't have to install a custom ROM to solve what hopefully is just a bug. I'll see what the next official firmware update does when it arrives.

For your problem, have you tried disabling the automatic settings and configuring them manually?

Yes, same result with the application of dark mode and the Google feed.
This what the Google feed looks like with dark mode applied:
