OEM Bootloader Unlocking now enabled in Dev Options (Android 10) - Nokia 8.1 Guides, News, & Discussion

My phone updated to Android 10 a couple of days ago. I spotted there are some new entries in the Developer Options menu - but the main thing is that the OEM Unlocking option is now toggleable:

Previously this was greyed out, so I'm interested to see if this makes much of a difference. Or if anyone else even sees it, haven't seen any mention of it anywhere else.
Android version below:

By the way, you have enabled: "stay awake" option, this might lead you to slow charging only. This happened to me.

Yes, I enabled it also. Don' t know if it's really unlocked. So... great question.

Just enabling the option won't do much on its own, you'd still have to unlock it with fastboot.

Does this mean that after selecting this option I can unlock the phone and install a custom rom like lineage?

Unlocking 6.2 and 7.2, but is general method ?:

Erases data btw

Seems like we are out of luck. Below reaction of Singhnsk at Nokiamob:
that toggle being toggleble doesn't mean unlockabke too. If you enable it and head to fastboot, you'll see unlock ability as 0 I.e. Not allowed.
fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability

Unable to boot into Clockwork Recovery on Nexus S

Hi all,
You may need to bare with me a little with all of this, I'm extremely new to it all.
I picked up my Nexus S on Monday after previously owning an iPhone and then a Windows Phone 7 handset, firstly I have to say that I can't believe I didn't get an Android phone sooner - they're leaps and bounds ahead of the competition in my opinion and offer a much better!
With the help of a set of instructions I was able to unlock the bootloader and flash the recovery to use Clockwork 3.0.0.5, from there I was able to install Superuser from the ZIP to root the device.
Everything is working and rooted but whenever I try and get into the Clockwork recovery it keeps chucking me into the standard recovery, I've tried from the bootloader and from ROM manager.
The problem I have is that I can't backup my ROM because it just takes me to the standard recovery and sits there.
I had a look around but couldn't find anything relating to this on the forum.
There was mention of something called 'sgs kernel flasher' but it states it wont run on Gingerbread which I'm running.
Any ideas?
If you have any questions of something I may have missed out I can answer those!
Sosmething very similar to me recently. I just reflashed the clockwork recovery via adb/fastboot and works like a champ now.

Thanks for the help guys, as I said I'm quite new to all this so sadly the thread title:

Didn't quite stick out to me!
Problem sorted now though, all backed up and new ROM installed - happy days!

unlock bootloader steps given to me by motorola today

So..an error occured on my motorola razr hd xt926 183.192.15 (built in july) while downloading an app and I had to go to Motorola to get it fixed. Motorola rep gave me a link to enable the ability to unlock my bootloader allowing me to install a custom recovery and then flash a rom to fix my problem. He matter of factly told me this would work. I am waiting for this phone to get off work so I can make the attempt. I'm pretty new to rooting and unlocking so I thought it would only be right if I shared this info. I was trying to share that link, however...my newness status will only allow me to drive you crazy with repetitive questions, or gloat...
If you want the info you can pm me I think...I've been gutting and restoring my laptops lately so forgive my forum skills.. If you know another way...lead on....

Z3 Dual (6633) unlock bootloader dual IMEI and root

I currently have a Z3 Dual (6633) and while I was trying to unlock the bootloader usin the Sony Xperia site method and it requires mi IMEI, i noticed that my phone has two IMEI's, so, would it be okey if i use whichever of both ones? or do i have to use one in specific?
Also, I was reading the guide for rooting and it says i need and older version of the firmware i currently have instaled (via OTA; 23.4.A.1.264), can i just flash the older without any problem or does that version has any issue?
thanks in advance
You know you don't need to unlock if you only want root and you don't want custom compiled kernels, right?

Yeah but isn't it necessary to install custom roms?
Yes. for that.
Do read about TA backup and DRM keys though.

I just went full retard and did it without backing up my TA partition, though I've never had to do it on my previous cellphones didn't think that it would be an issue.
But, after doing it, I haven't noticed any change on my system or apps, Track ID seems to be working okay, also X-R is still activated on my device, which other thing is supposed to stop working?
Never go full retard!!!

You need the keys or some fix if you want lo lock it up again, say for warranty.

Is there a possibility that my DRM's or function would not be lost after the unlocked bootloader?, or even the options are there they no longer work?

I can't unlock it there is something preventing it from happening. I cant access alot of items ony phone because it says I need admin approval. And this is a personal phone not a work or school phone.
These are two of the many apps on my phone. I have root folders that say read only and my phone is rooted internally it says. I know nothing about it but I'm learning a little bit.bi understand I have been hacked. I hope someone can tell me how to do this. I cannot factory reset it or liar it to recovery. It's stuck on load up screen.
The screenshots show Google Play is installed on your phone. Nothing else.
I havent been able to restart that phone yet. But it had the exact same apps somehow as my other phone. I believe this can spread from phone to phone. I have took it to att store and they have no clue.

Question Help returning T Mobile Oneplus 9 to out of box settings

Hello all.
I have a Oneplus 9 T Mobile variant that my son and his friend tried to install a Global Rom and I would like to return it back to stock. Problem is they lost track of what they did and now I do not know which way to go. I've read many threads and tried to educate my old ass before reaching out to you all. I used to be tech savvy but have been out of the game for far too long to remember most of the tricks. I would really appreciate it if someone can patiently guide me. I like to thank you in advance.
What I got out of them is they used THIS thread as a guide and magisk to root. They never backed up the stock rom and may have only flashed Slot_a. They uninstalled root to see if that helped. The phone works but can't update due to the unlocked bootloader that is greyed out. This is some info

Find the msm tool for your variant. It's here. Hold all 3 buttons, vol+& vol - plus power . This reboots edl and allows you to start msm tool. It restores to factory condition and locks the bootloader. Google msm tool for op9 to find out how to use properly.

And btw the device will update properly with just the bl unlocked. It's when you get into rooting and patching partitions that Google -ota runs a checksum on the partitions ,detects tampered and update fails. Enjoy your device
