Issues with GPS/Sensors - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi folks,
I have a problem that I did not find on the forums/google.
My GPS or sensors are not working on any custom ROM.
What did I attempt to fix it:
Flash to both slots:
10.0-GM21BA-OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.E.20_OTA_020_all_1909172050_2ce34409-FASTBOOT
Flash persist.img
from here
When I boot up this stock ROM, the GPS and Sensors work, so the hardware is ok
However on any custom ROM, either only GPS, or only sensors work (Lineage 16, Omni 9/10, crDroid)
When I flash to both slots:
9.5.10-GM21BA-OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.E.14_OTA_014_all_1907122240_aa2b43-FASTBOOT
The GPS is dead even on stock.
On custom ROMS either GPS or either sensors work, but never both
Is it time to try the MSM tool, to see if I can reset something I messed up?
Thank you very much

Thank you for the idea!
Didn't work unfortunately
Edit: seems to work on another Android 10 rom (Omni) for now!

[Q] Having serious GPS issues that I can't solve...

I'm wanting to know if flashing a new rom can automatically change my RIL's? I know radio does not change unless I purposely flash a new radio, but without using ROM names I'll try to describe my issue and the reason behind my question.
I was using a Sense 3.5 rom for a week with everything working just great. I decided to try a different kernel with that rom and after flashing the new kernel my gps stopped working. OK, reflash the original rom and things are back to working well.
THEN...I decide I want to try CM7 so I flash a CM rom and try it out for a couple days, decide that it's really not going to work for me and go back to original rom with original kernel.
NOW...gps is taking forever to lock, and google nav doesn't lock at all unless I open up a gps app like gps status or chartcross gps test. I flashed cryps AGPS patch for tmous users and it still has this same issue.
Any ideas, opinions, or other solutions are greatly appreciated. I use my navigation a lot and it's a key requirement for my phone so quick gps lock is extremely important for me.

Mostly the rils are replaced by the rom IF the chef puts it in. But more inclined all do.
And yes the ril and radio is essential to have gps working quickly. So you can just match the radio to the ril.
If that doesn't work, compare the rils on an old nandroid and the new rom. I'm going to say that the rils will be different.
And also in my experience, flashing different kernels also affects the gps locks as well. For me bricked and faux kernels always borked my gps. So now I only go with the bundled kernel, because most times, the dev tested out the gps with the kernel before releasing it.
You can always flash the matching radio to the RIL you now have, that should sort you out

Thanks for the answers and suggestions so far. So this is what I've done so far:
- reflashed first rom after doing a factory reset/wipe in ext4 recovery. It used to work well with my signal and my gps using the latest 10.56 TmoUS radio. After trying to get lock for 15 minutes I gave up
- read the RIL thread and flashed the recommended .169 ril for the 10.56 radio and still bad gps, no lock. What's weird is in both the above cases Ucenter gps app finds satellites but google nav and endomondo do not lock, ever. So I know my gps hardware is working but it's just not communicating with any apps.
- I'm going to now try using Superwipe and reinstalling the rom 1 more time, not sure if that will do anything at all but I'm out of ideas. Otherwise I may have to give up on this particular rom even though it used to work well.
And no, the rom does not recommend any particular radio.
Remember to try the rom (with matching ril) without flashing a kernel first.

[Q] GPS on Infusion Beta3

Hi
Sorry to post here rather than in ROM thread as I don't have enough posts.
I've just updated to Tillaz's Infusion Beta 3 ROM. It all looks great and I haven't found any problems except...
It seems as if GPS is disabled. Maps will find me using wifi etc but isn't getting a GPS lock at all. GPS status doesn't "see" any sattellites at all (i.e. they're not even there with insufficient signal). I have GPS enabled in the location settings and it all worked before the update. Clean wipe all done.
I'm guessing that it's an internal setting somewhere but perhaps someone can help? Is anyone else experiencing this?
Many thanks
Sam

I have the same problem running CyanogenMod 11 build 20140120. I cannot get the GPS to work with this custom ROM and I cannot report the bug in the ROM thread because I don't have enough posts.
Does anyone have a method of re-activating the GPS after installing a custom ROM?
Thanks
Thanks - glad to know I'm not alone!
It's strange as it worked fine on beta 1 and 2 (both based on retail stock 4.2.2 I think) so I wonder whether it's moving to the GPE that has done it - does that fit with your experience moving to one of the CM11s?
I'm surprised that there are not more people who have this issue, however - I don't know whether we've managed to do something funny or if it is a proper bug...
Fixed!
I managed to get my GPS working!
Here are the steps I took:
1) Boot into (CWM) recovery
2) Backup your current ROM
3) Restore the stock ROM - you did make a backup before you flashed the custom, right?
4) Boot into the stock rom
5) In Settings->Location, switch on the GPS
6) Launch Maps app
7) Wait until you are located on the map
8) Reboot into (CWM) recovery
9) Restore your custom ROM
10) Reboot into your custom ROM
Your GPS should now work.... well mine did after taking these steps.
I'll also post this in a separate thread for anyone else that is having problems.

Have you tried - settings-location-mode-high accuracy ?
Hi there. I don't wanted to open up a new thread. I've installed Infusion B3 over 4.2.2. Everything works fine for me, accept Wifi. Did anyone experience the same problem?

For me, it worked well on the first network I connected to but then although it could see the next one (home) it wouldn't connect. I was going to try incredibull's GPS fix by going to infusion b2 but found everything worked so I stuck with it. Hope you find a solution...

[Q] Anyone succeed with GPS with custom rom

Hi all,
Did anyone able to use gps with custom rom ( I would say CM base). I research and try everything that's I could find here but not success.
Every time I do clean wipe everything including a internal storage. So that will nothing left behind.
I know that stock is work fine with gps. some said that install and replace stock but I have no idea that what file will left in our device when we delete all.
Always had the same problem when running Paranoid Android (not tried other ROMs). Had to return to stock, where GPS runs fine. Would also love to kknow how people have got it functioning.
I am trying too. I modified gps.conf files, tried some workarounds mentioned in cm11 thread like restoring GPS Status backup from stock with titanium so far with no success. Some people say that it works but it doesn't on mine whatever I do.
I run on CM and I don't have any problem. Everything works fine with gps and I didn't use any fix or something similar.
I'm on CM 11-20140627 and I have 1032 phone.
Interesting, why does it work on some while it doesn't on others? Maybe some variants are having problems...
I have xt1033 asia version.

Which recovery did you use?
CWM
As I wonder is about library missing or some partition need from stock ?
I've also been using the micro gapps package, would this matter?
I had problems with Paranoid Android and GPS too... If anyone know something about that, please comment!

Hey i found a solution, you have do this flash following in this order.
- flash stock 4.4.4 (depend on your current)
- flash cm
- flash gapp
I try this twice and work like a charm.
Sent from my Moto G using XDA Free mobile app

I am having he same problem on XT1032 running Carbon ROM. GPS worked fine on stock, no signal with Carbon.
I found many answers saying to flash stock and then reflash custom ROM. I will try it, but I wonder, how does this help? Isn't the phone restoring the whole system? Do I have to keep the gps.conf from stock?
I've read in some CM thread on here you need to flash stock ROM then enable GPS and get a lock. Once you've done that then flash your custom rom. Sounds STUPID and dosent make sense I know, but a lot of people say this is how they got it to work.
EDIT: I can confirm. I've just flashed stock 4.4.4 and played around with google maps. Flashed CM11 nightly and my GPS is now working ok

Did you wipe anything, like Dalvik, Cache and Data, or you just flashed it over?

Sorry people, I was so happy to have my phone back working, I forgot to write it back here.
Yes it worked indeed, all I did was flashing back the stock, going outside to have a gps lock with gmaps, then re-flashing back the Carbon. I also kept a copy of the gps.conf, but I never needed it, the GPS got a fix quickly. Working fine so far, it only takes some tens of seconds to fix, from time to time.
I can't remember if I also did all the wiping, I think I didn't, but I made so many trials in a couple days, I am not sure.
Thanks a lot guys!

Yes, this worked for me too on PA.
I couldn't even see a single sat (it wasn't just a lock problem). No matter with gps patch, gpx fix app, or gps.conf I used.
What I did?: Back to stock, lock GPS, flash again the custom ROM (but don't wipe /system!).
Good luck on that guys, it should work for you too.

GPS works fine on this unofficial CM11 rom for me. Stable daily driver rom for me, YMMV.
General advice is to:
- make sure you get a GPS lock on stock rom first
- flash CM11 (or other custom rom)
There may not be a file left on the device. it may just be that stock contains the code to initialize the GPS functionality on the SoC or chipset firmware. Whatever, it works...

Bluetooth doesn't work

Bluetooth can't find any devices, and can't be found from the other devices.
I have flashed MMB29S via flashtool - doesn't work.
I've updated OTA to MMB29Q (the last one) - nothing changed.
What I can do with it?
I am sure that other devices' bluetooth is alright, i've tested it. The problem is in Nexus 5.
Nexus 5, 32GB, 6.0.1 [MMB29Q]
Try flashing a stock MM ROM with a factory reset.

already flashed. i'm always flashing ROMs with factory reset, to avoid problems like this.
baseband is newest, btw.
Does wifi work? I have a Nexus 5 with dead wifi and bluetooth and I could never solve the issue via flashing. Only thing that fixed the problem was a replacement motherboard.

of course, phone is fully functional, doesn't had any problem with wi-fi, always stable signal and fast speed. LTE is stable too.
update: because i am running out of solutions - i'll try to flash last factory image via linux debian.
update2: flashed newest factory image via debian, latest adb and fastboot tools. the problem is still there.
If everything else functions properly, I'd conclude that there is a hardware problem.

it's so bad? there is no sowtware solution, and the official service center is the only way out?
The fact that you have flashed other ROMs and everything works with these other ROMs except Bluetooth spells hardware issue to me.

FP hardware not available!

Hey guys! I have a problem with my P2, some times I get fp hardware not available! A lot of times it works again after activating/deactivating developer mode and restarting the system! I'm on LOS 14.1 but I tried AEX and Havoc too
Funny, i'm getting the same thing. I'll try the developer mode trick.
same here
same happened to me i am on stock rom. some days back i was on aosp extended and everything was fine. and yesterday i got this problem "fb hardware not available' i tried factory reset n flashed los 15 but it didnt help now back on stock but fp still jot working
I lost it on stock s251.. only gestures were working in Safe mode. Tried los 15 with the fpgesturesfix zip .. i only could use fp sensor once. But it stopped the next morning. Any fix? Going back to stock (7.0 /6.0) will help?
Developer mode trick didn't work for me, so i switched from RR to CRDroid, but no joy. Maybe something wrong with oreo sources, maybe stock fixes it... Maybe, maybe...
Seems that it's working now for me..I just did a full wipe, with internal storage too, and than flashed back Los 14.1, then I activated developer mode and restarted the system...it's working until now..
Well, my fp sensor also came back after doing precisely nothing just started working again. Weird.
Flash these files , according to your rom base, after flashing rom. Works for me. ?
on stock

I was on stock and my fp was faulty. I am not sure but u can try the Aosp fix. Don't blame me if your phone blows up as I use these files with custom roms.
