Google camera - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I see the other thread was closed. But with pixel 4 out and GCam 7 are we going to just kill the option of it coming to our phones or what's the deal? I have the 6.2 and love it but would like wide lens without root. TIA for all replies and input

LG V10 Front Camera & Snapchat

So I recently bought a V10 and very pleased with the phone tbh..The only problem I'm finding is that on every 3rd party app (Snapchat,Instagram,Skype etc) that uses the front camera automatically selects the WIDE-ANGLE CAMERA AS THE DEFAULT CAMERA!!!! This can get hella frustrating especially with the fish-eye effect it gives off etc... Now that being said I'm avid snapchat user and the front camera just looks like trash on the V10 unlike coming from a G3, I much prefer the G3 snapchat experience to the V10's. I've seen many other threads from Nov/Oct 2015 saying how snapchat would need to implement the feature of being able to switch between the two front cameras....That was over 7 f**king months ago and they still haven't added a feature to support it. I've written to snapchat myself as well as the other people have too but nothing has been done... Now I have a solution, or kinda. Not too keen on developing apps myself but for whatever reason 3rd party apps believe the default camera is the wide angle one, I'm sure this has to do with software. If there's a developer out there that has or can create an app itself that can trick these apps into thinking the normal selfie camera is the default one then problem solved. I'm just utterly annoyed, hopefully someone can create this app or w/e man. 3rd party apps need to support this feature

The V10 may be the only phone current that has dual facing cameras, but in the near future other phones will start to adopt this idea. There's no going around that.

i doubt about that...the only phone who will have again dual front cameras is V20 in september...i dont see more dual front cameras in phones this year, maybe next year company's put it but dont forget: LG was first, same for the back camera LG was first!
- i dont understand why other brands take advantage of LG ideas and then try to copy them and people dont valorize LG for they work. LG is the best in the world...others only follow (Huawei more talking...)
Actually I believe the dual camera is being moved to the back instead of the front.

3rd Party Camera apps

Is there any 3rd Party camera apps that work as good as the stock app for the GS7 but with better HDR? I was looking at the play store but there's hundreds of apps and I don't know what really works good these days. I have tried other apps in the past on other phones but never got used to them or liked them. What are others using?

I also tried a lot of camera apps (Note 4 + SGS 7 Edge), but in my opinion no 3rd party app can ever match the picture quality of the stock camera.

plus i haven't found a 3rd party camera android or ios that will let you take pictures while recording video like the stock cameras do nowadays.
Always found stock to be best, even with my S5
One of the reasons I didn't stick with custom ROMs for long

So getting the Google Pixel probably isn't the best thing to do then if one wants a better camera then googles "simple" camera. I prefer getting a good phone with a good stock camera from experience with other phones, moto Razer HD and HTC One M7.
after reading and watching tons of reviews and reading forums, so far the GS7 is about the best phone for me at this time overall. I guess i'll stick with it till the next best thing next year. Now if i can get a camera app that does HDR as good as the Pixel.

The Google Pixel camera will be optimised to it's own camera app, afaik reason stock camera app for the Galaxy phones is best, is down to the camera drivers and algorithms it uses, other camera apps can't produce the same quality
Especially when you are not running a TW ROM (as experienced with Galaxy S5)
Using the Galaxy stock camera app on a Google pixel probably wouldn't look great either

I was looking for a app that rivals the burst mode of the S7 at full resolution and speed. I have found nothing yet in the play store. Wish there was a way to keep the stock camera on. It cuts off after about 2mins on it's own if you don't touch the screen.

I do use Snapseed when i want something edited in a hurry before copying everything to the computer and editing with photoshop. i find it tedious editing on the phone though and when i have thousands of pictures to go through. it's easier on a real desktop monitor to see how good things look to know if i want to delete or not. I love Snapseed but like any other app on the phone they don't have an option to resize the resolution. i copy the originals to the computer for eventual burning off and pick favorites to edit and copy back to the phone.

You can use selective focus. Will do the trick.
Bump
samsung teased something - I think we are getting this with an early (2018?) update on our s8
I have a dream that one day some awesome dev will be able to port pixel 2's camera and give us the ability to take portrait photos!
just install the new oreo beta and try by installing google camera from apk mirror. If i'm not wrong pixel 2 came out with oreo. Also we can have more chances to make it work because s8 have a dual pixel camera like the google pixel one. I've read somewhere that maybe pixel phone has a second processor to process all the extra info given by the dual pixel camera but i'm not really sure about this. I think someone should make a try and report here..

Your dream came true already!
There are so many threads in this forum if you search it properly..

Gcam mod

Hey can anyone please try gcam mod by arnova/cstark and tell if they make a difference in shots as compared to stock cam?
There is a thread over at the OnePlus forums - long story short, it`s not working properly on all SD845-based devices at the moment. Which includes the OP6.
^^ yep, it looks like we'll have to wait for Google to update Gcam for the SD845 and then it can be ported. Worst case is when the Pixel 3 will arrive.
A very capable dev called Arnova8G2 will receive his OP6 soon - he will likely keep using this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/themes/oneplus-6-google-camera-port-t3797544/
Keep an eye out, if we're lucky he'll put something out in the next week(s).

Question Pixel 7 pro 4k hdr quality is terrible

Hello my new pixel 7 pro has terrible video quality. If I turn on hdr it's terrible and very sharp, if I turn it off it's a little better. Can you help me with this? Thank you
I doubt if there's anything anyone but Google can do to help with this. You should reach out to Google's support, and/or hope that one of the monthly firmware updates makes it better for you.

I just wrote to google support so we will see. I tried the OpenCamera and it looks like it is working fine. I was just trying to see if anyone had the same issue.
