**NEW FORUM SECTION COMING TO XDA-DEVELOPERS!! (Please read this important update!!)

ATTENTION ALL XDA MEMBERS:
ATTENTION ALL XDA MEMBERS:
*******PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ ABOUT THIS NEW AND IMPORTANT UPDATE COMING TO THE XDA-DEVELOPERS FORUM SELECTION.*********
Hey guys, TweakMan here. I have some wonderful news for you. Coming soon to XDA-Developers, will be new forum section to choose from, dedicated for the sole purpose of helping you!
As most of you have seen. the very first thread in the Development & Hacking Section is the "General Questions & Answer" Thread. It was opened a few months ago, with the intention of helping you get your questions answered. But as you may have noticed, this thread has grown to an enourmous size!
For this reason, an entire new section will be opened and dedicated to this purpose! It will be the same concept as the current "Question & Answer" Thread, but will be far more organized, therefore helping answer your questions faster!
The original concept still stands. No question and no comment, no matter the subject, device, or reason, will be turned away from this new section. Any question, about any device, theme, program, or situation, can be posted here, and WILL NOT BE OVERLOOKED!!!
Now, in the past, it has been hard, and sometimes impossible to post a question in any section other than "Development & Hacking" , and actually get an answer to that question, but with this update, this is all about to change. If you have ever used the currenct Q&A Thread, you know that you will get the help you need, and get it as fast as possible. With this new section, things will work the same and better!
Wether you are a junior member, who has owned a PPC for two days, or a Senior Member, who has owned 10 PPC's and wrote 30 applications, this thread is perfect for you! If you ever have a question, from what the name of a theme is or how to power on your device, all the way up to coding programs or cracking applications, you are welcome here.
So please watch for the opening of this new forum section. By agreeing to use it, you are not only helping your self, but you are helping your fellow XDA members, and that is what this site is for. Thanks for your time, and I hope to see you there soon!!
PS:
If you are currently an active perticipant in the "General Questions & Answers Thread" in the Development & Hacking Section, please read the update in the first post of the thread. And thank you for your past support, and the support I know you will show in the new sections. You guys have made this possible, and this is for you!!!

Why are my posts, threads being moved, erased, changed categories etc?

I have posted to these forums for a long time and I pay good attention to searching first and asking last. I also post in appropriate forums where others have discussed similar items.
Last night I posted a new thread about small text size in pie 6.1 on my fuze and it go moved from a new thread to some rom dev thread.
Can someone help me understand what I am doing to cause this?
huh?
can you send a link... and describe exactly what happened please?
Here is my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3302692&postcount=672
However, I clicked NEW THREAD not reply or quote.
well then, it probably happened because it was asked to post questions in a dedicated thread - as you can see from the thread's title.
Alright, thank you for your input. Seems like it inhibits answers without being able to start a thread in the appropriate area, instead my post got moved to a ROM dev thread and burried under 1600 posts.
Is there a problem with the community and now push back on allowing questions?
not at all. all questions regarding specific devices can go either here or in their dedicated sections..
but you should read the rules.. if there is a dedicated thread for questions, members are asked to use it so that the forum is not flooded.
there are so many new threads everyday we can't control it anymore.. so we're trying to collect.

Where did my post move to?

OK, so I'm a new member with a new HTC Fuze. I registered, read through the instructions, searched the threads and wiki, found one answer but still had another so I posted a new thread. I see it has been moved - to a sub-forum? To the trash? If it was moved to another forum, how do I find it? I searched for threads with my username and found none.
is this it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3353757#post3353757
you can look up all of your statistics and recent posts if you click on your name
Yes, this is it. So where should I have posted and/or what was wrong with what I did post?
Prior to posting, I'd expand my search to include all of xda not just the raphael forums since this error might occur in other devices. Since this is most likely a software issue, I would have also put it in the software sub-forum and if possible a posted in preexisting thread which discusses your software.
Edit: Search the entire xda forum for "ip camera," i think i saw some threads that might assist you. If you find a fix, would you also edit your post in the Q&A section to help other members?
I'll do it! Thanks for the help!
Thanks to all for helping him out, since the question is answered i'm closing this.
Also, just another note, if you "saw" your thread was moved, if you clicked on the Title, it would have "redirected" you to its new location.

[Q] i cant reply

You need to fulfill the 10 post rule first. Most threads are development threads, therefore new members are not allowed to post until the 10 post minimum is met. This doesn't mean go and make 10 spam/junk/worthless posts either. Someone is always watching for this kind of behaviour.

to all members here, although we are newbies here, we are aware of the rules in this forum because i am also a member in some forums. i hope you will considerate us. we chose to be a member here because this forum has a lot of things that we needed and some answers for our questions. if that's the case that we need to post 10 or more than posts, then please allow us here to post. don't closed it first until we reach 10 posts.

Threads are only closed for irrelevant posts/spam. Make a worthwhile post and it won't be deleted/locked/removed. Pretty simple really. Everyone needs to bear in mind that this forum is intended for developers. Which 90% or better of you are not.
There are already plenty of threads that discuss this topic, so we don't need a new once (hence the closure).
One of my favourite reasons for the 10 post rule is that it encourages most users (the less spammy and needy ones) to spend more time reading than trying to post in development forums. If you do spend enough time reading you find that 99% of your questions have already been answered, and you learn a hell of a lot and start being able to answer questions yourself. That's a great way to take part in the community as a contributing member. In fairness, if you come here to leech and not participate then you're not adding anything to the forum.
Anyway, if you want more info then see the link in my signature about 10 posts - that should answer more questions

[Resolved] Need Assistance Updating an Old Thread

I know XDA has the 10 post rule, but I signed up to fix an issue with thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890199
The old XDA thread is the top result on Google for renaming Android apps. Thread was renewed by Ashish Mundhra, a writer for www.guidingtech.com, whom necromanced this old tool that is no longer being developed. Normally instead of all this backstory I would have just posted:
A tool that is up to date, works, doesn't need Windows, and is still being developed.

When Google points me to a sour, stale, or dead thread, I like to point that thread to the new information that works if/when a solution is found.
It's disappointing I can't do this directly but I understand, so can one of you do it? I think the spirit of a site like this is community help and support.
Why I don't think this new post is forum necromancy:
Forums are great sources of information so long as the content is on point and furthers the topic. Post's like "It doesn't work for me." I believe is necromancy. However, providing a solution using modern hardware or an alternative I believe is a great asset to forums.
What are other user's thoughts? Would someone be able to update this thread for me? If not, why?
Why not actively posting on the thread you think it needs to be updated ? Whoever reads the thread would eventually see your post I guess ...
Do you want someone to add your thoughts on the first post of that thread ?
Unfortunately xanthrax, as a new member I cannot post to developer forums. I would need assistance from another member to do what you suggest.

Oops! Sorry, TehZig, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
New members (those with few posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums. The developer forums are intended for experienced users and developers to discuss ways to improve technical aspects related to ROMs and software. New users can read posts and download files, just cannot post for a bit.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.

Hi !
That`s ok and due to not enough posts count.
All new members must reach 10 posts across the forum in order to be able to participate on the development section by helping around .
This will make them get accustomed to our website before jumping into the development section.
No problem. I've lurked years but only now created an account.
As to the purpose of this thread, my thoughts were that I could possibly gather relevant post replies while debating my own topic for 10 posts.
The 10 post rule is a good one. Not everyone has dialed into information via BBS and used the internet before it became popular for information, instead of popular for instant messaging.
Well you're almost there, welcome to XDA [emoji6]
