Need help, potential op7pro buyer - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys, need a small favor. I am thinking of updating from note 9 to op7pro. What i am bothered about is
1. Can i switch cameras while recording a video? I know 7t can but what about 7pro?
2. Is there or will there be a night mode on the ultra wide camera?
3. Any note 9 users, how bad is the main camera compared to note 9?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

1. No
2. Yes (I'm on Android 10) I think there wasn't an option until 10
3. I didn't have much time with the note 9 but the pictures seem pretty similar in quality maybe a little less saturated and less sharpening effect

Can you please tell me if i can record video with ultta wide camera in Android 10? Thanks in advance.

camera quality

Have just bought the note 10 plus 5g and am moving from Huawei mate 20 X
The reason is the screen quality and the uncertainty with Huawei plus of course the 5g
Can anyone tell me about the camera is it good ? I owned note 9 and loved the note experience but the camera was poor
I just hope I'm not making a mistake moving as the camera on the mate 20 X is brilliant as shown below (only issue the AI is bad and I have it switched off most of the time)
Is there any monochrome ?? And night camera ??
I've enclosed a picture from the mate 20 X for comparison
Thanks

I have Note10, didn't see any monochrome lens, but possibly can be applied later as an effect. Nigh camera mode is there. I like images that this phone produced. I usually take photos of the nature, clouds and such... I haven't had a chance to put the camera into a good use, but I will.
Coming from two Pixels the camera on the new note is.... alright..
The issue i have is that you need to mess with different modes to figure out which mode to be in to get the best picture. For instance in regular mode i cant get a crisp picture of anything moving at all. My sons slight movements even cause a blur which sucks. In pro mode it makes the shutter much quicker and is able to snap moving targets.
Portrait mode is also a weird one. Live Focus kind of sucks and takes a ton of time to snap a photo so youll have to make sure that whatever youre shooting stays absolutely still. Again pro mode works pretty well but youll need to quickly change your ISO/fstop etc to get the best color.
Im currently using the Gcam port from the s10 and it works a bit better at getting overall better photos.
Im very used to opening my camera app and quickly taking the best photo possible so for me this is the biggest issue i have with the phone. My advice if you're a camera person is to wait for the next Pixel and make a decision from there
I disagree with Cosmo. I would say if you are a camera person then you know about photography. Basically everything he pointed out tells me he doesn't understand. That is exactly the type of person who should get the Pixel. If you know how cameras work then the n10 has everything you need to get amazing pictures.

Nice photo of my home town
I've come across from the Mate 20 X as well, went to Crosby beach last night to take some photos and they came out really well, there is a night mode which i dabbled with and came out well.
I've not found a monochrome option but that can just be done through snapseed etc

Love Liverpool ? thank you that's what I wanted to hear someone who has come from the mighty mate 20 X
How do you cope with slightly less real estate screen wise ?
Can you make the icons smaller on the note 10 plus as they are huge compared to my mate 20 X

It's taking some getting used to, to most people the screen is probably large but coming from the X it's tiny in comparison. One benefit I've noticed is walking round I just don't notice the Note 10 being there.
Yes you can make the icons smaller, I've changed the DPI to 551 and it's made the icons a nice size for me, just mess about with the DPI till you find a size you like

Manual video recording options

Hi all,
I'm just thinking of buying the Mi Note 10 Pro, because of its battery and camera. I use phone camera mainly (but not only) for video recording (I record some youtube videos from time to time (nothing really complex, vlogs, gameplays and technology reviews), and because of this I use a lot manual controls for white balance, focus and exposure. Right now I'm using a P20 Pro with Filmic pro app, which is working well, but I was thinking on update it, and since the Mi Note 10 Pro has such a great battery and camera (as DxOMark reviewed), as well as good price, I though it could be my update.
But before buying I need to now if there is any possibility of using manual controls over video recording on this device with the stock camera app in global rom, or if it is compatible with FiLMiC Pro app (at least with the main and selfie sensors, which will be my common use), or if there is any other way to achieve this on this device (maybe GCam?).
Will really appreciate any help on solving this doubts, as are my only doubts before buying it.
Thanks!
Hi,
yes it works quite well with FilmicPro (use standard quality option, because Filmic or Filmicextreme is too harsh at some moments). Hope with next update there comes LOG settings mode to Filmic Pro.
Anyway, stock camera does not have manual video options, like Mi 10 or Redmi note 9s. But if note9s has it, probably they will enable it in coming OS updates - hope so..
So at this moment for all 5 lenses working video and manual controls I mostly use modified open camera app by D1G1TE, see thead here, in page 2:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...-5-cams-opencamera-108mpx-mode-t4016279/page3
All 5 lenses works well, up to 80mbps it works most stable comparing to other camera apps. Very satisfied with this
Thanks for replying!
I was just reading about the modified opencamera, so I guess I can go with it even if filmic pro or xiaomi do not release anything else (will try actual filmic pro version anyway, maybe is good enough for me)
Just ordered the mi note 10 pro now, I guess it will be a good update coming from my p20 pro.
Thanks again for replying!

Best sub-$300 phone for GCAM + nightsight/astrophotography mode?

Hi all,
So I've done quite a bit of research on this, and wasn't able to find anything on Google. Basically, I already have a pretty decent main phone, but I want to get a "budget" type second phone purely for Astrophotography using GCAM. Now, I've been told Xiaomi phones and Pocophones work well with GCAM, but I wanted to see if there are any other alternatives out there that work better. My current choices are Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi 9S, Pocophone F1, and the Razer Blade 2. Can anyone with a lot of experience with GCAM and/or astrophotography on some of these phones chime in and provide some information?
Requesting info. on following topics (as an example)
1) - How well Astrophotography mode works on the specific phone
2) - Is there any noise in the picture?
3) - Are there any color temperature issues?
In terms of picture "quality", I generally don't care about color temperature, but I do absolutely hate noise / grain. I think it's due to the way my Huawei P30 Pro processes night time pics to be smooth / bright / and without noise/grain.
Thanks in advance

Better or more filming-options for Mi Note 10 Pro?

Hi,
I have the Mi Note 10 Pro. It makes great videos and even better photos. But especially in the video mode I am frightened by the lack of functions. While the photo mode can really shine, you can't really adjust anything in video mode. And above all you can't use the large number of lenses?
I have now read that other Xiaomi smartphones have been given a professional video mode with MIUI 12. Isn't there a way to port it to our phone somehow?
Or does anybody know of an app that makes such functions usable?
Then there is FILMICPro, but it doesn't really support good camphones. Xiaomi hardly either.
Maybe one of you knows some advice or words of consolation or something

Actually, apart from EIS FilmicPro fully supports the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. The Mi Note 10 has been specifically mentioned in recent changelogs as having recieved full camera support, meaning you can use every available lens (minus 5x).

Question Coming from a Pixel 4 XL, will I be satisfied with photo quality?

Hello all!
I would love for you all to give your opinion on the OnePlus 9 camera in comparison to something like my Pixel 4 XL. My OnePlus 9 which I purchased on eBay arrives tomorrow and I am slightly worried that although the battery and performance will be a huge upgrade over my 4XL I'm concerned after reading mixed reviews about the image quality.
Coming from those who have tried pixel devices do you feel that the OnePlus 9 is in any way comparable to the pixels image quality? If you came from a pixel are you satisfied with the OnePlus 9 camera performance? Is it at least acceptable for someone like me who has children in a lot of sports in likes taking action shots?
I appreciate all of yours input and thank you for your time
My Pixel 3 XL took way better pictures across the board. The lack of OIS on the 9 is unforgivable. I use the GCam mod that was posted around here and that's at least passable but the only thing I like about the OnePlus cam over the Pixel is that it doesn't blow out reds. As someone with rosacea, it's nice that a minor flare up doesn't make me look like a tomato.

can you give me the link for the gcam u r using? thanks a lot i cant find good gcam for op9
I just switched from the OP9 to a pixel 5, which i believe has the same camera sensor as the 4, and I think the photos on the OP9 were much nicer. Sure google has good processing but the image is so grainy on the pixel 5.
On the plus side my pixel 5 isnt crashing / randomly rebooting five times a day so i'm happy.
