Hi guys,
I have a problem with push notifications and self closing running applications.
Symptoms:
Whatsapp and Messenger and Bluemail client ( not able to receive notifications after setting the sleep time of the screen + about 60s )
problem playing background music .. (Pulsar app) the same time .. ( stop playing music after setting the sleep time of the screen + exactly 60s )
I am not able to influence it in the settings .. :-
What i have tryed..
1, in the apps setting : Automatic background trigger control deactivated everywhere and set to manual.
2, in developer options set : Mobile data always on ( fort fast data switch )
Have you the same problems?
On the P20 pro I had the same problem, but changing the settings from automatic management to manual has resolved the problem.
Thanks

Solved... I have reinstalled all... :good:

In general I'm satisfied with the new notification and volume system in contrary to a lot of other people here but I've an annoying problem with it.
Config:
- I switch to Priority mode
- Time indefinitely
- Priority interruptions only calls
- starred contacts only
- I don't have down days configured
All seams well and works as expected but at exactly midnight (00:00) Priority mode switches off and turns back to All. It is really the time that triggers it and not a set duration because it doesn't matter if turn on priority at 23:55 or at 18:00.
Anybody else with this problem and ideas what could trigger this?
Solved it. It was the app Silent Time that somehow interfered with priority mode. This is an app that I used on JellyBean and KitKat but didn't configure or use on Lollipop, although I did auto-download it.
HELLO, so first I want you to know that I have the S6 so I don't have xposed, im limited with tasker and greenify only.
So, what my profiles do is :
- Always, but always, only one of wifi or mobile data are on.
- Hibernating apps when screen is off, but also if I am using it a lot, it will hibernate too.
- Adjusting the brightness.
- Controlling auto-sync as I want.
Im writing this guide from my phone so I am sorry if something is wrong or just bot beautiful, so lets start
Auto sync controlling
Option 1 - for email readers, needs sync a lot.
Sync on always when charging.
Option 2 - for email readers, needs sync a lot.
Sync on every 2 hours for 10 minutes and then off, you can control the time.
Option 3 - for users who don't need sync a lot(me).
Sync on only when battery level is 100% and phone is charging. ( using if condition.)
Mobile data and wifi switching So here.. I used to have a profile that turns on wifi when I am home, a little more safisticated profile I created..
Actually it's more then one profile, I split it up.
Note:lollipop users, if you have problem with mobile data, use secure settings plugin, if you have problems with the plugin too like me, use toggle data 5.0 xda version- posted in the forum.
So profile number one - when screen turns off - turns off wifi, turns on mobile data. always when screen is off, use mobile data.
Profile number two - the more complicated one - when screen turns on - turn wifi on, wait for one minute, and then (turns off wifi if not connected and keeps on mobile data) ( turns off mobile data if connected and keeps wifi on).
Hibernating apps regularly So here, what I have done is - when screen turns off hibernating all greenified apps.
I am not always turning off the screen and sometimes I use it a lot of time so every 10 minutes if screen is on hibernate all greenified apps, also I don't know maybe some apps are turning on because some wakelocks etc when screen is off (not sure) so every one hour if screen is off, hibernate all greenified apps.
adjusting brightness level When screen turns on - set brightness level to 70 and auto brightness on. Can use the phone regularly with this settings.
So that's it, if you have some more I will be glad to add and if you want some help, just ask.

* Often when I work the mobile is at my desk but I still comunicate by sending SMS and using Whatsapp in my webbrowser. Works fine with Samsung and Huawei but with my new Mi10 Ultra id does not work. Connection is lost and I have to tuch some key on the phone to light up the screen and then it syncronizes.
I have set permissions for the apps to allow both autostart and not affected by the battery saver in the system.
I have also set the "data usage" for the apps to allow background data.
...but still, background data for SMS and whatsapp IS deactivated until I light up the screen.
Has anyone run into this problem? Is there any general (mayor) switch for this that I have missed?
This happens to me with Gmail. Sometimes they come in on the lockscreen and sometimes I have to turn the phone on for them to appear. I still have this problem on my Samsung S20 Ultra but I learned to live with it since I never figured out what the problem was. I have no such problems with my SMS or WhatsApp though. Everything else for me seems to be coming through.

Hi there. I pretty much have the same problem with this phone. If it's not permissions nor background data, it's the power saving feature, which is the most aggressive I've seen yet.
I was talking with someone about this in another thread, but I was instructed to turn off battery saver. It got better for a day, but it kind of returned back the way it was. I think you could try and play around with the power saving settings for the apps you want immediate notifications from, which I haven't had time to do. Please let me know how it goes for you and I'll find time to play with it this weekend.
Hi all,
I have a Pixel 4a with stock Android 11 (up to date, no root, with Nova Launcher).
I have a rowing machine that comes with an app (ErgData, by concept2) that can connect to the machine via bluetooth or via usb cable: while rowing the app logs the workout data (like pace, heart rate etc).
I wanted to do the following: watch a video while the ErgData app logs my workout, so I started ErgData, connected it to the rower, configured the workout and, once ready to start rowing, I switch to the video player and start rowing.
It worked fine a bunch of times, but one day it stopped working: at the end of the workout (like after 20-30min), when I switch back to ErgData the app is in its default screen (like the one you get at startup) and it has logged nothing. When connecting via bluetooth, the app has also lost the connection to the rower. When connecting via usb the connection is there but the app has still logged nothing.
Things I've done:
disable battery optimization for ErgData, Bluetooth and Bluetooth MIDI
disable adaptive battery
use a different media player (android built-in, VLC)
uninstall / reinstall ErgData
clear Bluetooth storage/cache
disabled "Suspend Execution for Cached App" (developer mode)
No joy.
I tried a different app (ErgZone) and it has the same behavior.
I tried staying with ErgZone foreground for 3min before switching to the video player and in that case, ErgZone logged something, but not the totality of the workout.
So it really seems that somehow, when I switch to the video player, ErgData / ErgZone gets "paused" (killed ? cached ?).
Anything I can try ? Anything the app developers should do to prevent this ?
Thanks !
Sorry for the late response, I normally dont browse this forum. I am rooted and always have been, so all the solution I have used in the past are dependent on root. However, one idea to try is checking if the background app is killed while the phone is plugged into a charger? I know that being plugged in keeps the phone awake even when the screen is off.

Does the ErgData/Zone app start a persistent notification when recording? That's the way to keep a service running in the background. I had a phone with a tendency to kill anything not in the foreground, but it never killed active apps (including background with persistent notification).
If the app dies despite this, there may be a hint in the logcat. You have to enable developer mode to fetch that.

No, ErgData/ErgZone do not have a persistent notification. Guess that's a potential solution then.
At the moment my workaround is to use the "pop-up" feature of VLC so that I have the video on top of the other app (ErgData/ErgZone), so that the other app stays foreground. That works, but it's not a real solution.
Hmm they gave me a beta version of the app with the persistent notification thingy and it works perfectly.
