Looking for kernel module cdc_acm (ttyacm/ttyacm0) - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to get support for an USB CDC ACM device on my OnePlus 6 with OxygenOS 9.0.9.
If I plug in the USB device it is correctly detected but the driver is missing. (On my linux box, the kernel module cdc_acm is loaded and I can connect via the device /dev/ttyACM0).
I did not find an offered kernel which supports my goal. So I suspect such a kernel does not exist. Perhaps some kernel provider could add this support?
Or would it be possible to compile the module on my own? Any help or link welcome!

Wont connect to USB

Hey,
I connected external WiFI adapter to my Xperia Z3, and it doesn't work. Any idea how to make device recognise/connect to the adapter?....
By my understanding of that Android is technicaly based on Linux kernel, you would need a kernel module for taht WiFi dongle or kernel that Supports it (Driver compiled in kernel)...
Why external WiFi?
I want to use reaver, Z3's WiFi doesn't support monitor mode.....
And is this even possible with rooted phone, while keeping locked bootloader?...

In theory yes. You would need kernel module driver compiled for that kernel you are running. Drivers in Linux can be compiled in the kernel or provided as module. So grab source code compile as module and insert module (insmod) from terminal...

I have the latest KaliLinux + Nethunter installed on Sony Xperia Z3 RooT / Boot unlocked MM 6.0.1 - 23.5.A.1.291 ((Kernel: 3.4.0-perf-gc14c2d5)) according to this instruction:

[Q] Installing USB Ethernet Adapter drivers

I recently got an ASIX AX88179 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter for my Android device running CyanogenMod based on Android 5.1.1 and the 3.4.* kernel.
The drivers for the device are provided as source code and are available:

ASIX represents that the drivers are "For Android 1.x/2.x/3.x/4.x/5.x, Linux kernel 2.6.25 and later".
I attempted to compile the drivers using the CyanogenMod-included Terminal emulator App, but could not get anything to compile. It seemed that the "make" command or tool is not recognized.
I found a note in the drivers source readme file:

build machine, and make sure that the version of the running kernel must match
the installed kernel sources.
I found kernel sources on https://www.kernel.org/ . How do I make use of the kernel sources?
The version 3.4.* kernel is frequently updated. Should I be recompiling the driver with new, updated kernel sources every time a new kernel version is installed?
Must the drivers be compiled on the system they are to be used on?
Is there a better way to handle driver preparations or acquisitions?

Ethernet using OTG

Hi,
I would like to connect my J7 (2016) using a LAN connection with the supported OTG.
I see that the J7 has OTG hardware support, as it can read an external flash drive. It appears to be missing the support for Ethernet over USB in the kernel (i.e. no network stack connected to the USB driver).
Is there a kernel version or ROM that has this support?

any solution? i'm interested in "no root" solution.

LG V20 Problem using external USB with Kali Nethunter

I have unlocked, rooted and installed Kali Nethunter on my LG V20. And have the Magisk module for Wireless Firmware for NetHunter. Everything is working. Except for external wireless USB. I am using an adapter that has the RTL8812AU chipset. I am using an OTG cable to connect the adapter to my phone. According to this doc, Wireless Cards and NetHunter | Kali Linux Documentation , " The following chipsets are supported by default in most, if not all, NetHunter kernels:" which include the RTL8812AU. Am I missing a step? I am currently using this same adapter on my regular Kali installation on my laptop and it works in monitor mode and supports packet injection. But NetHunter only sees the internal wireless.
I am new to the XDA Forums, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask questions. Also, I tried searching here and I'm not finding a definitive answer... my search-fu is weak :-(
