I just got my new oneplus 7 pro 5g and at work my phone seems to be throttled at 70kbs. On my galaxy s8 In the same place it will get download speeds up to 4 mb/s..
Now when I turn on my Hotspot on my oneplus 7 pro at work it will go from 70kbs to 300kbs and up to 1mb/s... Anyone know what might be wrong.
I'm on sprint and while I'm at work I'm roaming but like I said eailer my s8 has fast speeds but my op7 pro has slow speeds unless Hotspot is on... I've already done a factory reset.

I am finding my G3 drops from the usual 50 mbps to 3. I have to disconnect from wireless and once I reconnect its back to 50 again. Does anyone else see this. I even flashed back to stock after being rooted and it still happens. All my other devices are fine, just seems like my G3. Thanks
Does the same on mobile data. Usually, toggling airplane mode fixes it. Next update should permanently fix it

Yup, same here. It's much more prevalent when switching from Wi Fi to mobile data for me, though. Almost always have to toggle airplane mode to get mobile data to come back.
I don't think it's device specific. I had the same problem on my Note 3, and G2 recently. I haven't had the problem on the TMO G3 I'm using now with an ATT SIM tho.

At&t just dumped the 2g frequency in the STL metro per my local retail store. I have noticed there is some struggle from time to time fast switching from WiFi to mobile networks too on the G3. Perhaps because there is one less band to reconnect with in cruddy areas (like my black hold neighborhood lol).
My Nexus 5 was this way as well...less though on my M8.
My WiFi speeds are just fine, and so are my LTE speeds. I'm using a Asus RT-AC68U router at home. It's much faster than my nexus 7 it's getting.
So I tried to use my P2P as a Hotspot, but it's lagging bad not working at all. I've used it on other phones especially unlocked phones but never acted up like this. No download speed. I tried changing the apn settings but no luck. I'm using on Tmobile network so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thanks
Screenshot of my ridiculous speed
Something strange is happening with T-Mobile.
Upload is fine. Download seems to be throttled.
This is on a tethered device.
Everything works as it should when the phone is not tethered.
I know that's weird. I wonder if we need to change something on the settings. I glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I thought it was my phone. I really like it but this is a huge problem that bothers me especially since I use my tablet for business and most of the time I use my Hotspot

Did you switch to the T-Mobile One data plan? I read that they limit tethering speed on that plan unless you pay extra. I haven't switched, I should try it out and see what happens.
Edit:
Never mind! I'm getting the same. Here are my results:
1) Phab2 Pro direct: 22.03 Mbps
2) Phab2 Pro tethered to my old LG G3 (CyanogenMod): 18.92 Mbps
3) LG G3 direct: no data (crashed every time, these constant crashes in apps are one reason I got a new phone, but I digress)
4) LG G3 tethered to P2P (with ",dun" APN setting): 0.53 Mbps
5) LG G3 tethered to P2P (without ",dun"): 0.19 Mbps
Conclusion: it's way slower. But, add dun to slightly increase speed.
Just making a general statement and handing out my thoughts and opinions.
I was using Google Fi on my OP6 and now my OP9. They dont support the OP9 which made me disappointed.
Everything worked correctly. Just didnt get 5G or full bands and connections your supposed too. It would even say LTE or 5G, but the speeds the same lol.
So heres my advice, I did some checking around.....
This is for USA and Some of Canada.
MINT Mobile supports the OnePlus 9/9 Pro
Full data speeds using 5G
And has an incredibly low price.
$30 a month/3month Plan for $90 unlimited everything.
Data speeds slowed at 35gbs of use. Google Fi is $60 unlimited and slowed my speeds at 22gbs. When i wasnt at home using weeeefeee(wifi hehe)
Thought I would share that.
Greetings!
I've been on a Sprint/T mobile Galaxy note 5 for awhile. T mobile said I must upgrade to 5G or lose service in Jan.
I am choosing between One Plus Nord N200 or N10 and the Ace 5G.
Before I commit, if anyone can answer this. I mainly use Wifi hotspot to my PC. I have a ROM on my Note and It works fine without having a special T mobile Hotspot plan.
Can anyone recommend a ROM that would give me the Hotspot ability? Is there any other means to get unlimited hotspot?
How is the wifi and 5G/LTE on the One 5G Ace? I ask because I was leaning toward the low end Samsung A32, but read it has issues keeping connected via wifi etc. And Data and Hotspot is my primary use for the phone.
Thanks
Max

Wifi for receiving is perfect, working Wifi n equipment. As a tether machine, dunno man what to say.
I am using Micromax Bharat 2 for lte tethering and always on working with charger, coz it was my temporary phone for $40 in 2019. One thing i know when i was making my choice i learned about 5G chips and technology itself and it runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 750 G which one of few in High-end class chips using mm-waves along with standart 5G. Depending on your plan and carrier it should be fine. Read wiki about Snapdragons and features and then make a search which phone best for price , technology offers, NFC , solid RAM + Diskspace, display features for such not big price was offered only by Motorola + 2 year software updates, So decision fall to Moto before buying used Google Pixels with drained batteries. And honestly searching for great price offer in USA was like searching needle/pencil in US market after shipped it internationally to my location.
One thing you may notice - Bluetooth WORKS ROCK SOLID, Not only 5.1 version (Bluetooth LE) but also options in Developer options - once you changed them , they work as they should be - switching codes, channels, max users and so on. Sound is so brilliant even on $20 wireless headphones. Unlik on Pixel 1st - when i open developer option change value , turn off device and have to do it again and again. Plus 5000 mAh battery and so on, so on.
Take a few reviews specifically for wifi - from Cnet guys or someone else to see what you will get from wifi.
Best Regards
Nick
Thank's Nick!
Most likely going with Moto. They started Cel phones back in the day, and I assume their radios are top notch.
I have unlimited Data from my carrier in the US T-mobile. I don't have broadband where I use my desktop so have been very happy with wifi hotspot on my Galaxy Note 5 with LTE. But like I said, they no longer support the Note five in a few weeks. I have the MOAR custom rom on it and that gives me the hotspot without being charged extra by T-Mobile.
I will try the Liniage ROM on the MOTO and hope its Hotspot works the same.
Thanks for your reply!
Best wishes

We have 3 Moto ACe 5g's on T-Mobile. Great phone. You don't need a custom ROM. Just root the phone and use VPN Hotspot App.

NEVERSETTLE....GOOD LUCK
I have the Samsung Galaxy tab 7+ which I use a lot for work when I am OTG. I use the SonicWall VPN to connect to my company's servers through RDP.
The Tab 7+ is on the T-Mobile 5G network, and this has been a real lifesaver.
I want to upgrade to the Samsung Tab 8 ULTRA -- but it isn't really clear if and when they will ever release a 5G version of it.
I know that T-Mobile throttles tethered WiFi. But, I have been searching the forums for ways around that, and it seems that it IS possible. If I do that, would a Tab 8 Ultra that's tethered to an Android phone be usable? Or would it be so slow that it would be a waste of time?
The speeds I am getting now, after a hop through a VPN and then an RDP are not great. I can watch the screen draw on connection. But once up, it is usable. (I am mainly doing terminal commands or filling out Web Forms when I use it.)
My current phone is an LG V60. I haven't rooted it yet, but I am not opposed to doing that. I could also upgrade to something more hotspot friendly if I had to.
I have Googled every phrase I can think of, but I can't find anything comparing tether speed with direct 5G speeds.
Any thoughts or experiences anyone has had would be greatly appreciated!

Tethering a device uses at least twice the data and is slower.
