To God be the glory, a working AOSP ROM for those on both the 50.1 and the 50.2 firmware, Pie flavored! There may still be a few bugs here and there, please read this entire post before using!
**** This is an UNOFFICIAL ROM. Install at your own risk! ****
WARNING: This build SHOULD work on both the H3213 and H3223, but I could only test on a H3223.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damages to your device.
A huge thanks to the Android Open Source Project and Sony Open Devices Project!
The Sony Open Devices Project (SODP) is an initiative to build Android for phones while being as vendor binary large object (blob) free as possible. There are still a few vendor blobs used in this project, but the goal is to one day be vendor blob free. I don't know if that will ever fully happen, but it is nice to move in that direction. That said, all of my work is completely available for any who wish to use or modify it. I didn't make AOSP, the device trees, or vendor blobs. I simply used and edited existing material. A huge thanks should go to those who actually created this stuff.
This Unofficial AOSP ROM was built for the H3223 (discovery), but may work on some of the other variants, please try at your own risk. However, if you do try it on another variant, please be sure to let me know in the comments how well it worked.

Note: This is designed to work with any firmware version of the XA2 Ultra, because you flash a custom OEM partition. I've tested this on 50.1 and 50.2 firmware phones.
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/dl8dcra6ojog5/Sony Open Device Project
IF there is an ENG build, it is marked "ENG" for testing purposes only. It's your phone, you can install anything you want, but I do not recommend installing the ENG build. Use the "USER" or "USERDEBUG" builds.
There are two versions of the project, a vanilla AOSP without Google Apps, and a vanilla AOSP with Google Apps. I have tested both on my phone. If you want Google Apps, you cannot use the gappless version and then flash gapps, it doesn't work, you must use the gapps version if you want Google's apps.
Installation instructions: (DIFFERENT THAN NORMAL! DONE THROUGH FASTBOOT!)
- Download the zip file for AOSP 9.
- Unzip the zip file, and you will find 5 images.
- If using Windows, put these in your folder you use for fastboot, if using Linux, you can do this from any folder.
- Reboot the phone into bootloader/fastboot mode.
- Flash them to your phone, like so (example for Linux)
Code:
$ fastboot flash boot ./boot.img
$ fastboot flash oem ./oem.img
$ fastboot flash system ./system.img
$ fastboot flash userdata ./userdata.img
$ fastboot flash vendor ./vendor.img
$ fastboot reboot
Your phone will now boot into AOSP Pie!
If you plan to install magisk, then let the rom boot once, then go back to TWRP and flash magisk. I recommend making a backup of at least the boot partition first. Magisk is optional, of course. And you do so at your own risk!
What works:
Code:
So far these things that I have tried work, such as
- Display/touch
- Camera (front and back) for pictures and video!
- Phone calls
- Data 3g/LTE
- Bluetooth
- WiFi
- Sound in system, in calls, over bluetooth devices
- MicroSD card (external SD card).
- GPS
- Fingerprint sensor
- Camera Button launches camera and takes photos
- MTP file transfer
etc....
What doesn't:
Code:
Gappless version:
- FM Radio does not work
- The built in Gallery app cannot play back recorded videos from camera. VLC or other apps work fine though.
- Nothing else that I know of, but let me know if you find something!
Gapps version:
- FM Radio does not work
- The built in Gallery cannot play back recorded videos from camera. VLC or other apps work fine though.
--But the Google Photos app can.
-The built in Google Camera app does not work, however, Open Camera, or other camera apps do.
- Nothing else that I know of, but let me know if you find something!

ROM OS Version: 9.0 Pie
ROM Kernel: Linux 4.9.194
Based On: Android Open Source Project
Created 2019-10-03
Last Updated 2019-10-24
Changelog:
20191024
- Fixed MTP crash issue.
20191023
- Sync'd source and fresh rebuild
- Now have a "Gapps included" variant and a "Gappless" variant.
20191004
- Rebuilt kernel
- Fixed camera turning green or crashing
- Fixed general stability.
20191003
- First build, a bit unstable.
- Camera turns green.
- PTP, MTP cause crashes.
- FM Radio does not work.
Notes:
This ROM is very, very, vanilla. It is straight up AOSP. No frills, no mods, no extras. Just pure source.
I personally don't use Gapps anymore, but I did test that the gapps version boots up and connects. That's about all I test with Gapps, though.
I also don't use social media except XDA, so I don't know how well every app works. But if you have issues and have logs, perhaps I can look at them and see what is wrong.
Can I flash back to firmware 50.x.xxxx after flashing this?
Yes, you can. I flashed this and then flashed back to the 50.2 firmware several times while testing. As always, you assume full responsibility for your device, but it worked for me.
Issues/workarounds:
- Video playback from camera. Any camera videos you record work fine, but the built in player can't play them. I downloaded and used VLC app to play them and they work just fine. You can get VLC or other apps from the play store, or here: https://www.f-droid.org/en/packages/org.videolan.vlc/, or if you are using the Gapps included version, you can use Google Photo.
- If you are using the Gapps included variant, the built in Google Camera app does not work. However, using the playstore, I downloaded a number of camera apps, such as Open Camera, and they all worked. I'll try to look into it if I get time.
The only thing i didnt like about aosp is that you cant add features like gravitybox does. And Unfortunatly I need snapchat cause my woman uses it. lol Breaks the safety Net
Couldn't flash gapps? I'll boot into twrp and flash gapps after booting into aosp and nothing? What am I doing wrong... The is will boot and no gapps appear?

Good question, I'm not sure, I don't use gapps, but I could try flashing it to see tomorrow. Which gapps did you flash? Opengapps, 64 bit arm, for pie?

I installed AOSP, let it boot, downloaded 64 bit nano opengapps, fastbooted into TWRP, flashed the gapps via adb sideload, and rebooted. It didn't crash or hang up on me. However, I've noticed that it doesn't install the playstore app. I'm very confused. I tried this several times with pico, nano, micro, and mindthegapps.

Thank you for looking into it? but yeah same I'm very confused as well but I believe I have found something that I'm not at all familiar with. I found this link that has someone that has a similar issue with the responder saying they can use "adb pull" command to flash Google factory images so it might be worth looking into?

Whoo-hoo! Praise God! Good traction on Android 10! After some tinkering with XOSD source, I've got a booting version of Android 10 with the new 4.14 kernel! Certainly not a daily driver by any means yet, but I'll keep tinkering. I'll add a few teaser shots as well. :victory:

Hell yeah man. Thank God we still got one developer on the xa2 ultra threads.
So I've messed with aosp a bit and have found a way to help make things easier. I've installed nanodroid which will give you micro g and it's service and more!
https://nanolx.org/nanolx/nanodroid
I haven't been able to figure it out but it has a setup wizard as well which does give you the option to install the official play store. If any one else can't get that to work then perhaps install osm(gapps) with fdroid and install the "fakegapps" xposed module to get signiture spoofing. Hope this helps?

Great work, and good find!
I am currently building this ROM again with built in gapps ... Hopefully, I can have that and an updated version of aosp that is gappless available tomorrow or the next day (so I can test it a bit). I spoke with a few guys on the SODP telegram channel, and they make aosp with gapps built in, so I thought I'd try that to see if that helps you guys who want to use this ROM with gapps.
Good news!
I was able to build AOSP 9 with Gapps built in, and will be posing that once I get it uploaded. (It will take a long time, because I have slow internet.) I'm testing it out on my phone now, everything seems to work here. I will also be posting an update of the gappless version as well.
Thank you so much! I have been waiting for this but when do you think it will be available?

Good news! It is up and posted. Be sure to fully read Post #1, and Post #2 before proceeding.
I tested both the gapps included, and the non-gapps versions on my phone, both worked. With the Gapps version I was able to connect and download several apps, my emails synced, as did photos, etc....
For this rom, the things that I am actively working on are MTP/PTP computer connections.
Also, Android 10 is still in the works, it's just giving me a few fits at the moment, but I will keep working on it. I don't want to release a "half baked" rom, I would like it to be 95%+ functional before putting it up for you to use. Hopefully, that will not take forever. :fingers-crossed:
Love it I did notice the ctsintegrity was false but I fixed it with a magisk module other than that it's great!? I understand from your last post you are working on Android 10 but any idea on when your roms will be updated to 5.0.2 version?
Great news! Praise God! With some great guidance from @MartinX3, and a post by @oshmoun, I was able to apply a patch to the kernel that fixed MTP communications for transferring files to your PC! I have the builds now, and will upload them. My internet is really slow, so it will take a while....

PixelExperience Plus for ASUS Nexus 7 2013 [Flo/Deb]
What is this?
Pixel Experience is an AOSP based ROM, with Google apps included and all Pixel goodies (launcher, wallpapers, icons, fonts, bootanimation)
Our mission is to offer the maximum possible stability and security, along with essential features for the proper functioning of the device
Based on Android 9.0 PIE
DON'T FLASH GAPPS, ALREADY INCLUDED IN ROM!
Installation:
1. Download the ROM and Magisk from the links below.
2. Wipe everything except internal storage.
3. Reboot recovery you will have no OS installed but that's ok i promise your device will boot back into recovery.
4. Flash the ROM and DO NOT flash GApps as it is already included!
5. Flash Latest Magisk to get root access.
6. Reboot and Enjoy!
Known issues:
- You will be required to repartition your device to at least 1.3gb. If you have anything higher or exact than 1.3gb than your fine.
- Navigation bar glitches sometimes.
- Deep Sleep does not work when NFC is enabled so i recommend you disable it when your not using it to get your tablet to go in deep sleep.
- When you boot up the ROM for the first time you may notice that the boot animation will freeze and then your device reboots back to the google logo. This is not a device side issue but a ROM side issue but let the tablet reboot a couple times if necessary & your tablet will eventually boot to the setup wizard and into the ROM. This is normal.
- Use Latest Official TWRP recovery below for Flo which is version 3.3.1.0 and you won't have the install supersu thing when you reboot recovery.
- You tell us!

Thanks very much for making time to maintain this.
May I ask which blobs are used for this build? If Im reading it correctly, it's the same ones that @followmsi has switched to rather than the previous QC ones?
I'll definitely install this and give feedback but am of the current belief that the previous blobs provided much better performance,(on deb at least), than the ones used in the other most recent build.
Hadn't mentioned it yet as was still trying to pinpoint why it feels less responsive. Not sure if it's GPU or disk IO or even CPU because the numbers all look fine but the device feels noticeably less responsive when playing something taxing like PoGo.
Edit: just saw the blobs link.

I am using followmsi's latest pixel and pie aosp sources which includes fixes for hardware decoding and compass. I don't have any slow downs when i tested the build however i wouldn't know how to even fix it if there were slow downs because i am just building using his sources. There is nothing changed or added besides those sources. You can expect a new build from me every month with new security patches because i am currently the one mantaining pixel experience

Issues
Latest build (05/02) borked all the sensors (gyroscope, compass, accelerometer). After dirty flashing it over an earlier build they all stopped working.
Had to go back to stock 6.0.1 and it's all ok now. 6.0.1 feels like a rocket by the way. I don't know about your experience with these pie roms, but for me it's been high battery drain (especially when watching youtube) and overall intermittent choppiness.

The only thing that shouldn't be working is compass and I will hopefully fix it in the next build but gyroscope and accelerometer is working for me on my flo with no problems however I can't say this for deb as I don't have that device to test. But I would do a clean flash wipe everything except internal storage and try flashing the ROM again. Also remember to not flash gapps as its already included

Actually I saw the same thing when dirty flashing to the changed blobs build from the other thread.
An additional restart was required to get them working.
Haven't had a chance to try this build, (deb), yet but it's likely the same.

You can fix deep sleep by flashing this zip I provided and I tested it and now my tablet goes into deep sleep. This zip add-on works for all pie ROMs except unlegacy because its already included. Huge thanks to @followmsi for providing the fix
Download here and flash in recovery:

Tested deb for a few days, ( with the patch linked above), and it's pretty good.
Dirty flashed, wiped cache and dalvik, installed ElementalX kernel and then the deep sleep patch.
My early concerns regarding the changed blobs and performance were unfounded. Everything appears to work and the rom runs smoothly.
Did experience an issue with sensors no longer responding after a couple of days and although easily resolved with a reboot, I rolled back to an earlier PE build to avoid a repeat.
Looking forward to trying any further builds though. Hopefully will have time to troubleshoot, or at least a grab a useful log next time.

I've given this rom a try, and I am also receiving an error 7 from twrp-3.3.0-0-flo

This device must be re-partitioned before installing this rom
Otherwise works just like it was stated on the original post.

Because havoc is more customizable and feature filled compared to pixel experience. Pixel experience is meant to give you the same experience as if you were to use and buy the google pixel phones its the same ROM basically as what the pixel has. There's nothing I can do about this pixel experience is meant to be more of a stock bare minimal experience rom compared to havoc which is more feature filled and customizable.
Cheers

Apologies man.
Sometimes I completely forget that not everyone here is up to date with development for our devices.
I should've made clear that kernel build is by @followmsi and found in his online file repository.

crDroid is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device also attempting to bringing many of the best features existent today. We're mainly based on LineageOS so use custom kernels compatible with them!

Always Have a full functional Backup. Just in case if you want to!
First time installing crDroid to your Nexus 7 2013 or coming from another ROM:
** Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (TWRP)
1) Copy crDroid zip, gapps zip, to your device
2) Boot into Recovery
3) Wipe everything except internal storage.
4) Flash ROM
8) Flash gapps
9) Boot up
For root, AFTER you boot into the ROM, you can go back to recovery and install Magisk v20.1 (whatever is most recent).
Upgrading from earlier version of crDroid:
The only difference between clean flash as above and upgrading is you just wipe system & cache, leaving data. Everything else is the same. ***Remember to always clean flash before reporting problems. Clean flashing is always the best method of ROM install.
KNOWN ISSUES
- NFC has been removed and disabled so it's unusable at the moment.
- Navigation bar glitches sometimes.
- Since it's Android Q you may have problems with certain apps not working properly. You will have to tell the developer of the certain app to update their app to be compatible with Android Q. This is not a problem with the ROM.
- Compass seems to not be working.
- Encryption does not work.
- Several crDroid features may or may not be available yet.
- You will be required to repartition your system to at least 1.3gb.

I have a problem installing the GApps with ROM build 20191126 . Coming from LineageOS 16.0 (flo) I wiped everything except of the internal storage.
But I always get "Incopatible Android ROM detected. This GApps pkg is for Android 10.0.x ONLY. Please download the correct version for your ROM: 6.0.1 (SDK 23)"
Is this a problem of the ROM or the GApps package?

Have you messed with the build.prop file or any other system files located in system/system in twrp? I did that accidentally and the only way to get it fixed was to reflash the rom and wipe everything except internal storage then reboot recovery then flash the rom and then reboot recovery again and then flash gapps. Try that and make sure you have the latest version of twrp recovery
Hi all.
Just downloaded crDroid to give a test spin to see how it is.
I'm primarily a gzr, aex guy.
LineageOS and crDroid are my next rom choices.
A note about OpenGapps 10.
It has issues mounting system on some devices.
Installing ROM, rebooting into system and then rebooting back into recovery, works.
Honestly takes too long for me.
A quicker way that normally works is.
- Install ROM.
- Mount (or unmount and remount) system in TWRP.
- Install OpenGapps 10.
- Reboot to system.
- - or install Magisk, kernel, what ever else and then reboot to system.
At first glance, crDroid seems to be working well. :highfive:
Cheers.
Thanks for the suggestion to Mount the system in TWRP. That fixed my issue.
JT1510365 said:
Have you messed with the build.prop file or any other system files located in system/system in twrp? I did that accidentally and the only way to get it fixed was to reflash the rom and wipe everything except internal storage then reboot recovery then flash the rom and then reboot recovery again and then flash gapps. Try that and make sure you have the latest version of twrp recovery

I did not modify anything, just coming from LineageOS 16.0 (by ripee) wiped everything, except the internal storage, and installed your rom using TWRP-3.3.1-1_UA. My current solution is to modify the GApps package install script so the version check is not failing. At the moment everything is running fine.

Thank you @JT1510365 for giving Flo another Android 10 ROM.
Coming from @followmsi aex 7 Aplha.
I see you mentioned 1.5Gb required for system, but I have partitioned with @followmsi 1280_120 script. After reading a post by Clamor about partitions to 1.5Gb required complete format look complex. I skipped the process.
I'm able to clean flash your ROM, with OpenGapps beta Pico (unmount-remount system in TRWP, with @ipdev suggestion).
Run really smoothly so far, but I did encounter 2 problem.
1) video glitch, a fix was given by @ipdev to mod media_codecs.xml (see attached screenshot)
2) when tap battery in settings, it crashed. Return to home screen.
Thanks again!
Update to 2.
After pressed battery in settings, crashed back to home screen. A small window appeared, I select app info and settings info appear. Did the clear cache, no go. Clear cache and storage (Bad idea) and reboot. After the cdroid bootanimation, screen just faded to Black. No lock screen, not able get back into ROM.
Did a complete clean install of ROM only, reboot into ROM. No other things are added, tapping battery in settings still crashed. Is no biggy, does not take away the smoothness of the ROM.
Anyone know how to get weather next to the home screen at a glance?
This is such a fantastic ROM. Thank you so much JT1510365!
No hassle clean install, extremely solid & dependable, and now the daily driver on the FLO.
I do very much wish that it was available for the DEBs.

About LineageOS4MicroG & LineageOS
LineageOS unofficial fork with built-in microG gapps implementation.
Full Play Services compatibility [Well-almost...YMMV]
Our ROM has built-in microG free-as-in-freedom re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space apps and libraries. This enables you to use every Google service you need without keeping another closed-source binary blob in your Android system.
Native F-Droid support
LineageOS for microG comes with F-Droid already installed. You can use it to access plenty of FOSS applications or even a Play Store bridge repository like Playmaker or GPlayWeb.
About LineageOS
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Rom Built by Bernie_nixWhy build Oreo Now? What about other variants of the G5?:
Oreo is very stable on the h830 and works great with microg. I'm using this build now. This is also a build I am interested in maintaining and comparing to a future Pie build with microg built-in. Unfortunately, Android 17/Q is not yet fully compatible with microg.
Working:
5ghz WiFi, camera, calling, bluetooth, great battery life. USB-C audio earbuds work great. Reported that NFC works.
You tell me.
Known issues:
Please test WiFi, NFC. IR blaster not working for me but I may need to find a suitable app; please test. FM radio reported not working.
Automatic updates not yet implemented but will be in next build.
You tell me.
Install Instructions (If coming from another rom):
Prerequisites: Coming from another rom with Developer settings enabled, android debugging enabled.
(1) Boot into twrp (or ofox)
(2) Wipe your device. Select Wipe button, Advanced Wipe, Choose: Dalvik/ART Cache, Data, Internal Storage, System. Then Swipe to Wipe all of these (if in twrp. if in ofox, wipe system but do not wipe system 10)
(3) Select Format Data Button. Type yes
(4) Select Install button. Choose rom zip. Swipe to confirm flash.
(5) Install Magisk if you choose.
(5) Press back arrow button 2x to get back to main screen. Select Wipe button. Select format data button. Type yes.
(6) Reboot. Phone may or may not mention "no os installed." Ignore it. Proceed with reboot. Phone will boot twice, then boot into lineageos4microg.
DO NOT install twrp installer/orange fox installer until after phone boots into lineageos4microg or it will not boot. After you have setup lineageos, you can then reboot into twrp and install orange fox or twrp and magisk if you choose. Do not ever install any GAPPS on this ROM. Reinstall of TWP/Ofox should not be required if upgrading (at least on Ofox).
Upgrade Instructions (If coming from my previous build):
Prerequisites: Developer settings enabled, android debugging enabled.
(1) Boot into twrp (or ofox)
(2) Select Install button. Choose rom zip. Swipe to confirm flash.
(3) Wipe caches.
(4) Magisk should persist after reboot but if not, go back into twrp/ofox and flash it.
Tips for Use
1. Root can be enabled in this build (if not installing Magisk) by going to Developer Settings->Manage Root Access->Apps and ADB
2. To turn off battery led when charging, Settings>Apps & notifications>Notifications>Battery Light
3. To set up Microg,
(1) open MicroG app,
(2) press self-check, press battery optimizations ignored and allow,
(3) go back one screen, select unified nlp settings, configure location backends, press the checkbox next to mozilla location service and ok, configure address lookup backends, press checkbox next to nominatum and ok,
(4) then go through Google services from top to bottom and enter your information.
(5) Enable location from pull-down shade. Open maps, get your location. Go back to Microg. Run self-check. All boxes should show a check.
(6) Microg is setup in less than 5 minutes and fully working.
(7) Turn off location from pull-down shade bc they're tracking you 4. Want a better GPS experience? Install Deja Vu Location Service, GSM Location Service and Radiocells.org Unified Network Location Provider Backend from F-Droid. Works great with Google Maps or OSM.
5. I've found Hypercam to take excellent pics with our cameras. Please download for the G5 here: https://gcambrasil.com.br/lg

Thank you anyway. I'll always have hope.

Yes I will continue forward to make an los 16 microg build. As far building yourself, please read the first post. I will not answer any questions related to building in this current thread after my response below.
I'm going to put together some info on GitHub with required files and some instructions to build on Ubuntu. In a nutshell, you install docker on Ubuntu, install the microg docker container and then supply a manifest file for the docker to download sources, etc.
I don't provide support for building in my threads because it's off-topic and really adds quite a bit of support that is better provided in its own unique thread where many members can help. I would be happy to answer questions in a Q/A thread of its own, on GitHub or in a telegram group.
If anyone is reading this and knows of an active telegram group for the g5 please message me and I'd be happy to provide assistance there. Otherwise wait until I update on GitHub. I have my reasons but do happily share in the spirit of open source. A ROM release thread is not the place to do it.
Amazing rom! Just installed on my h850 and it works great! The suggested GCAM is also very good. I have tested NFC and it does work fine (tested only between 2 phones). The IR however seems to work very strange... I tested with the app irplus which does seem to transmit something the first time you press a button but then it just starts loop blinking the IR led like a notification led on off on off on off about every second until a reboot. You can see this by pointing another camera at it. Also i was just wondering if it's possible for you to somehow add fm radio? It worked great on the stock rom but I noticed that no custom roms seem to have it. It isn't something that would cause me to not use this great rom but it would be nice to have. Also.. I wiped everything in orange fox before installing including system10 before I noticed the warning about keeping that but it works fine so far. Do I need to do something about it or can I just ignore it? What even is system10? First time I've ever seen it on any device.

Thank you for your kind words! I've been testing it on my h830, and it really has brought some new life to my device. Even my pictures aren't coming out yellow like they were on stock! Thank you for testing NFC, and I am glad to hear that works for you. I had similar results with the IR blaster, and that's one of the features I love about this phone; I will try to see if I can improve the functionality as at least it does turn on but unfortunately can't give an ETA; this will involve looking into some lg and lineage sources if they are available. I will also look into fm radio. As most custom roms are built off of a similar base, that explains why it doesn't work in most. It may not be possible to pull the files and include them in the rom, but I may be able to create a magisk module with some lg files; again can't give an ETA as I don't know what I will find or how long it will take. I will investigate though. As for system 10 in ofox, I haven't been able to find much if any documentation on it. As I didn't erase it on install and it booted, I figured best to be on the safe side

I see. Anyway thank you for looking into the IR issue as I agree that it's a great feature and also the fm radio. I would not have any problems with it being a magisk module if it can't be added to the rom. And yes, the phone runs great with this rom so far. Very responsive and minimal battery drain even with my half dead battery that dies at 50%. It is definitely my new daily driver.

I know that Los usually has lower sound. Haven't experienced the lower mic myself but I could be wrong. You could probably easily edit some mixer_path volumes if it is not to your liking.
Hi, real cool rom. thanx a lot. But: PicoTTS does not work. App shuts down in test. And Hdmi (or Slimport??) on an OTG does not work.
And the LG Camera Plus add-on-piece is not recognized
Is H850_v2.2-mk2000.zip compatible with this rom? or maybe H850_v0.3-BETA2-mk2000.zip?
(after Test) No its not, camera is not working with both kernels and Android says, thats the Vendor Image is not right, when i reboot. What ever that means
P.S. The rest is really stable after 2 days of testing.#
P.P.S. Changing BT Connections from one (Airpods Gen 2) to another (JBL Charge 2) while playing music reboots the phone.

Resurrection Remix the ROM has been based on LineageOS, SlimRoms, Omni and original Remix ROM builds, this creates an awesome
combination of performance, customization, power and the most new features, brought directly to your Device.
Many things that in previous versions were tweaked with mods, are now included by default in the ROM so, please enjoy!
Special thanks to the LineageOS team, Omni team, SlimRoms and of course to all the supporters. For 7T: Be sure to be on latest oos, beta or stable is fine (flash both slots prior to installing the rom)
Download the latest Resurrection Remix Rom (currently on V8.6)
(7T builds gave gapps included) so disregard flashing gapps.)
You can use either twrp (mauronfrios latest or Chinese) to flash the rom.
Additionally - you can unpack the bin that is in the zip and fastboot flash as many other roms. SEE POST#4!! Importantly, after flashing, no matter the method, once you see the RR boot logo, force reboot to bootloader mode, and use the buttons to cycle to recovery. Select this as it will now reboot to the roms recovery. Go to wipe data. Wipe data and now reboot. This is mandatory if you flash via twrp or want to run f2fs vs ext4; bc the rom will run very well on f2fs as it is much faster file system than ext4.( Once you format after the first flash.) If using twrp, the first boot sets it as this but unless a format is done, it will not boot. So, do not skip this step. After the data wipe and rebooting, the rom boots up in a few Mins. If it doesn't boot in 5mins. You may have made a mistake and in that case reflash stock to both slots and try again.
Yes, Ota updates work fine, be sure to go to updater and prioritize update process. I usually send a build every couple days.
You can retain root by after the download and install occurs but before reboot, launching magisk manager and installing to opposite slot and then rebooting.
**Ota will not work unless RR is on both slots before taking ota. To fix that, after you get it booted, boot to bootloader and fastboot set_active other, and reflash via fastboot. OR if you used twrp, flash the ota again and it puts it on the opposite slot.
Neutrino Kernel is built in-line, latest Hoth 1.95
Make sure you have a custom recovery installed(TWRP is the preferred recovery)
Download the latest Resurrection Remix Rom & the latest GApps package
Boot into recovery
Perform a FULL factory wipe and wipe/system and dalvik cache as a precaution
Flash ResurrectionRemix Rom
Flash Google Apps package(Optional)
Flash Magisk Root(Optional)
First boot may take up to 10 minutes.

Download the MatLog app from the Play Store.
After downloading the MatLog app, go to the app settings, and change the log level to Debug.
Clear all previous logs and take the exact steps to produce the error you are receiving. As soon as you receive the error (probably a force close), go straight into MatLog and stop the log recording.
Copy and paste the entire log either to Hastebin or Pastebin
Save the log, and copy and paste the link into the thread with a brief description of the error.

Payload Dumper
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Q5Cq9nAXWvjw9z6wgCDfQi40qk4mw3ut
Thanks for this! Glad to see you here as well
Here are some more detailed instructions by my long time constituent @aer0zer0 thank youuuu!!!
how to extract a payload and flash a rom for noobs, windows only
pre-requisites:
1. In general, you want to have the SAME version of OOS on both sides. Im not going to go into detail on how to MSM, and flash a full OTA locally, reboot, then flash the same OTA locally again and reboot.
2. payload dumper for windows: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q5Cq9nAXWvjw9z6wgCDfQi40qk4mw3ut/view?usp=sharing its windows 64 bit only
3. Latest ADB/Fastboot binaries: when flashing using using a script, and you see errors such as system partition cannot be found, etc... your binaries are old, most likely cause by some ghetto version minimal adb/fastboot thats jank. To verify where your adb/fastboot is running from, in a shell, type fastboot --version this will tell you where you resident adb/fastboot binaries are running from. The link to updates binaries is here https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools select the windows SDK version. Once downloaded, copy and paste them over top of the ones being used from the fastboot --version output.
4. a bat file to flash all the images you are dumping. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HW1Q82wpsnBPUcPkAnXO-tQjVIWSZ_oQ/view?usp=sharing this wipes, goes to fastbootd, will flash all the images from the payload.bin dump to both sides, wipes, and sets it to boot from slot A.
5. lots of common sense
Instuctions
1. extract the payload dumper somewhere on your PC, you will see an "IN" folder, "OUT" folder, and an executable.
2. extract the payload.bin file from the rom.zip you wish to install, and place it in the "IN" folder.
3. run the payload dumper exectuable, a shell will pop up, showing the images being extracted.
4. once the shell closes, the images are all succesfully unpacked. Copy those images in the "OUT" folder to whereevr you would like to store your rom.
5. copy/paste the bat file wherever you placed your images.
6. reboot your phone to fastboot, plug it into the PC, and run the bat.
7. process takes 4-5 minutes, sit back, it will then reboot back to fastboot.
8. start the phone from fastboot, and wait for your new rom to boot.
9. finish and enjoy!
Also, there is no real bugs. On occasion one may think there is a bug, and if there is in fact one, we work promptly to resolve it as a team. Typically, one thinks a bug is a bug, but the rom has so many features, it is just a conflicting setting most likely, I implore you all to exercise trial and error. If something was fine and you fiddled with settings, go unfiddle and see what could make something not work. We could not foolproof all features to not conflict on the occasion if we get kinda crazy with what we expect our device and it's software to be able to do. All works flawlessly. Enjoy the rom and thanks to my colleagues and my friends who have always been there in this wonderful android world, never quick to judge, always quicker to help and teach. Never from the class of elitist android dev who is "too cool" to just be nice. Thanks guys.

The news of a stable ROM coming to 7T just made my day. I want to heartily thanks the developer who invested their told in building this goodness.
Also would payment apps work on this ROM? Maybe someone could confirm the same? I am preety new to the ROM scene these days but have some past experience ages ago, I have heard Magisk safety net would work?
Also I wouldllike to know do stable ROMs like these have om par camera performance as the stock builds of OOS does? Or can we make it work just as better with installing a supported Gcam build here from forums?

I recommend latest arnovo gcam for optimum photography.
I don't know if gpay works as I only use PayPal, but safety net passes. Happy it made your day. Enjoy

Great to know the safety net passes.
Would just leave a message here asking if any forum member based from India installing RR can confirm if the payment apps like PayTM, PhonePe and the likes of it work? It's the just last thing that's stopping me from getting this beauty on 7T.
Along with info of banking apps, i would also like to know if this has auto call recording feature ? 90hz display support ?
Also I would like to know the proper install instructions for this ROM, I tried searching for this but feels like I'm a bit lost. Thank you for helping out :victory

No call recording feature as the lineage dialer is overridden for gapps, ie google dialer. Find a 3rd party app/mod. Sorry, I tried adding the option to allow the user to pick los dialer or google dialer, it but broke other things the majority of users need over call recording. Yes, 90hz support. 60/90 or auto

It's easy. Use twrp, or unpack the bin file in the rom and flash with fastboot. same as other roms, just must format after install and reboot.

Hi Everyone
After some months of learning how to build my own Roms and how to edit the proprietary files of this Device i was able to build my first edited version of LineageOS 15.1 with HW Acceleration and the Camera working.
Its a slim an snappy Rom for everyone that´s looking for a monthly updated Android 8.1 Rom to keep this unique Device alive.
This first release is really basic because i deleted everything that doesn't work right.
My plans for this Rom are to keep it updated in case of Security Patches and add some Features here and there as i still learn how this Device and Android is working in general.
Also the official release of LineageOS 16 will end the development of this Rom for the reason i don't want to rival the official contributors of this Device.
Little FAQ to this Rom:
Do i need to Wipe my existing Rom even its LineageOS 15.1 based ?
Yes because i use my own Release Keys for this Rom you need to Wipe your existing one.
Is this Rom compatible with every Shield Tablet ?
Yes this Rom is working with every Shield Tablet
I have a Shield LTE Version and after flashing this Rom i cant connect my device for Data Transfer with my computer anymore.
For some Reason i still didnt found out on LineageOS 15.1 there is no Drop Down Menu for this Device to change the type of connection.
To change it go to Settings > Connected Devices > USB
I found a Bug with this Rom i didnt had on any Rom before what should i do before i post it here ?
Before you post any Bugs and Errors here make sure you installed this Rom correct as i told with a full wipe in your recovery first and if there are modifications installed like Magisk
Moduls or Xposed or you changed this Rom in any way, you should reinstall it fresh first to take a look if the issue still occurs.
If yes post a detailed report of the Error with a Logcat.txt File
Can i install and use Apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime,.. and watch content in HD again with this ROM ?
As this is a Problem with the Widevine Services and this Device itself this Rom doesn´t change anything on that. If you want to use the Netflix App for example you still have to use the liboemdecrypt modul on Magisk and its SD only
Thanks goes to:
@Steel01 and the whole LOS Team for doing all the hard work to keep this Device alive
@Artemka2008 for figuring out the OMX fix
@Triodexe for uploading his work on his Github so i could figure out how to edit the vendor files

Thank You for breathing new life into this great little tablet!
Thanks for keep this device alive!
Any ideas why clash of clans will not work on this ROM? Installed COC from Amazon App Store right after flashing this ROM and the game closes with no error right after it fully loads at the loading screen. Tried Lineage OS 16.0 and had the same exact issue using the google play store version with pico opengapps. I just want to use a smooth running ROM and play clash also QQ. Clash ran like trash on the stock 7.0 rom even after doing everything possible to make the tablet smoother.
Thank you very much and nice job Scavenger for keeping our tablet up and running!
Tried this ROM and was very happy to finally see one above Nougat on my shield tablet k1 that has 1080p 60 FPS videos playing smooth with no artifacts and doesn't crash. Also super smooth. Very nice, congratulations and many thanks.
However after I rebooted to recovery and flashes magisk it got stuck forever on Nvidia logo
Wiped everything again, reinstalled (ROM and gapps) and it booted without magisk. Tried flashing magisk again, same problem
I never had this issue with magisk before on this tablet (and I've tried several ROMs).
Anyone else faced this issue? Any advice?
@ogremalfeitor How do you tried to install Magisk? Refer https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
What would be the right way to install it?
@Scavenger87 Besides your LOS build we find also a recovery.img at androidfilehost.com - do we have to patch this one with the Magisk app? I never tried the LOS recovery before.

I tried many ways.
Usually with the latest magisk versions I rename the APK to ZIP and install it via TWRP (you can't do that with normal APKs but magisk one is special). This method has worked for me with other ROMs. From then on, when there are Magisk updates, I use the magisk manager app.
Meanwhile I tried dumping the boot partition from TWRP and use the manager to patch it, then flash it via fastboot. Same problem. If I then flash the unmodified boot image back, the system boots fine.
I'm now trying everything again, with the 3.5.0_9-0 version of TWRP (I had 3.4.0 installed). Also I was using aroma opengapps (costumizing what I want), I'm now going to try with pico as said in the first post. Will post back results.

No luck, same problem
Root addon from lineage os works, but fails safety net check pretty badly and does not support modules like Magisk...
@Scavenger87 do you have any advice to get Magisk working with this ROM? Are there any place logs are generated when the tablet is booting on the nvidia logo where mine is getting stuck? Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I have a question.
What should i Do with
Firmware Update : N/Stock 5.0
I have installed the Rom and the Gapps. And IT runs, on My K1

It's just there for people that might have an outdated stock firmware. If it worked for you without it, you don't need it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Maybe we have to patch boot.img from NVidia Stock Recovery 5.2 and flash this one?

That's not it. The boot.img is unique to every ROM. It contains the kernel and the initial ramdisk (initrd, if you're interested in details search for that and there are a lot of interesting articles explaining the boot process of Linux and derivates like Android).
I know magisk modifies the initrd to sort of "inject" itself during that early boot process, but it doesn't make the system hang with other ROMs, hence before assuming it's a bug in magisk I'd like to know if anyone has any idea or if the ROM is missing anything that could cause this?

I believe it has to do with outdated bootloaders, which will be the case for people who never used recent stock firmwares, and it's there should you have problems (but don't confuse bootloader with boot partition or boot.img that I mentioned in another post). I think the script in the Zip detects it when you flash in twrp and gives an error if necessary but please correct me if I'm wrong.
I have try to installed the Firmware Update : N/Stock 5.0 in TRWP. It doesnt work. A Error Shows and it cant installed.
Well meanwhile I went on and started using this ROM without magisk. Started to have crashes here and there not long after, like most (if not all) ROMs for my tablet above android 7... until the video started to get corrupted in YouTube Vanced too which is a deal breaker for me.
Guess this is not the one ROM to solve my problems with this tablet after all, but still it's a great effort. Hope others enjoy it and thanks to the dev for sharing.
Hi everyone after a little vacation and some testing out of your reported issues this is what i found out so far:

I installed that game on a Tablet with LOS 14.1 and LOS 15.1 and in both cases the Game crashes because it run out of memory. I did a quick test on my Rom with adding ro.config.low_ram=true to the build.prop which activate the Go Version of Android and decreased the usage of Ram this way .
The Game runs but it started to get really sluggish after around 30 seconds.
It seems this Game just needs more than the 2GB Ram this device can offer.

After trying to flash many Versions of Magisk starting by 21.4 over 22.0 and the actual 23.0 via the TWRP Recovery Version (9.5.0_9-0) i mentioned in the Start Thread and trying to flash it with the Magisk App i also wasnt able to install Sucessfully Magisk without running into a Bootlop which is really a Bummer.
I dont know why this happends and i check my Kernel Logs i pulled with TWRP but for the moment we have to use the SU Addon by LOS.
Maybe it has something to do with that my build is signed with a personal key i will check that out.

On some rare ocassions you get those same green artefacts on videos like you get with the LOS 16.0 Rom but at least in my case it happends once a week or so and it seems it have something to do with memory managment again.
My guess is that the tegra drivers arent working really well with Android Versions above Nougat (7.0) and this leads to a memory leak but like i said its just a guess by me maybe @Steel01 can say more about that.
I try to optimize the memory management in the future builds if possible.
Hi Everybody
I think its time to give you a little update of my work on this build
After i got a good example of the problems with the ram management of this device i was looking for a solution last few days and i began testing with the Android Go Settings as i mentioned in the last Thread.
With that settings i was able to start that Game mentioned by @Hworangg and i even was able to play it a bit as you can see on one of the added Screenshots below. But you could also see this Game is a real RAM Hog with needing up to 484MB at the last session i played but it is kinda playable you just have to stay in that Game and turn off every notification as it might crashes otherwise. Speaking of crashes while the GO Settings really helping on reduce the usage of Ram by the System itself and let the device take more Memory Pressure it also leads to freezes where you often have to Hard Reset the Tablet because it seems to not close the Main App when its in a Out of Memory Situation. This is something i have to invest more time and research even after i played a lot with the Dalvik VM Settings.
I also found out that my Personal Key Signature is the reason that the install of Magisk is leading to a Bootloop. Here i also have to figure out why this is happen and if its even possible to install Magisk on a Signed Custom Rom as you change out the BOOT.img on this Device to achieve that and it seems the Magisk installer isnt able to resign the File with my Key.
TLDR:
I was able to set up my Build to use the optimized Android GO Settings to withstand more Memory Pressure so that Games like COC and heavy Browsing Sessions with lots of Tabs and Sites with a lot of Pictures doesn't crash that soon but it lead in both cases to a freeze of the whole Device.
The Magisk installer does not work when i sign my build with my own key.
For this Reason i decided to release a another Build for you to test with this Settings as a Nightly Release before i release my next Regular Build when the next Security Patch is out
You find it here : Nightly Build and i´m curious about your opinion.
Flashed the nightly onto a freshly wiped K1 along with opengapps and Magisk 23 using patched boot, no problems there. Video playback - Netflix played about as well as it could with level 3 widevine, with Jellyfin no obvious visual problems streaming 1080p over lan. Got hard freezes when running memory heavy apps (firefox, manga reader, 3d unity games) but it was expected.
Ended up downgrading back to factory stock Lollipop as the memory management is best there, even better than stock Nougat. But will keep an eye on your builds because the K1 could still be a great little tablet if the memory issues in newer versions of Android was fixed. Thank you for your hard work
