Android 10 -Again? - Google Pixel 3a Questions & Answers

Anybody else get prompted on their 3A today September 30th to get Android 10 even though you already have ?

I got this update several days ago. I recall reading on the internet that it was a bug fixing update, although the one I received was rather large (over 1gb)

Mine's stating 12 MB...hmmmm.

And you'll get it next month, and every month after that... all 10.0.0, but with incremental bug and security fixes. They might bump to 10.1 along the way, or maybe not. They didn't for 9.0.0, it stayed that until the end.

Recall that there were actually two versions of Android 10 when it was first released (19 and 20). It's possible the difference in size is due to the different versions originally installed. Just guessing though.

Old build QP1A.190711.019 New build QP1A.190711.020.C3
Same security date.

Anyone know of it affects magisk?

November 1, 2018 Patch

Just received the November 1, 2018 patch for my A1 (XT1900-1). The version number is OPWS28.3.5 and it's a 76.8 MB download file. Still 8.1 though
Well, it may not be 9.0 (yet), but at least this update is within the actual month and not a whole month behind.
Yeah, I got the October patch around mid November, I believe. So this is an improvement
Judging from the fact that India just got Pie (literally yesterday) then I think we are next.

What? Pie in India is not soak test (closed beta)? Is it for all India customers?

Haven't got the P update yet. I have the XT-1900-2 retin. Running on 8.0 October security patch. I think the soak tests isn't over yet.
There's a GSM Arena article. Either the closed beta is almost over or they are doing a phased release, which is not uncommon.
Anyone having any issues with the November patch? I saw on another site someone posting about problems with headphone jack (but that was just an anecdote) so I am holding off for now.
I don't want to have to deal with a rushed updated like the current Win 10 debacle.

Do you know what specifically the issue is? I tried my headphone jack with 2 different headsets and didn't notice any issue.

It was a vague comment. I bit the bullet and did it and my jack is fine too.
I just got burned earlier this week when I accidentally installed the Win 10 update (I normally defer it for a couple weeks) and had to restore.
I understand. That Win10 October update was a trainwreck. I was lucky it went without a hitch for me personally. But I can imagine it's a nightmare for people who lost their files.
Someone on a different forum posted that this update brought back the broken USB transfer problem. Did anyone else have that issue?

C782 No updates since 9.0

Anyone else on C782 noticed since we got 9.0 (168) we haven't had anymore updates/security patches in a while, anyone know whats up with that? i feel like our phones have just been abandoned this is first and last time i use Huawei, Google Pixel or Samsung next upgrade for me at least they get monthly patches/fixes even my bros S8 is being security/bug patched each month.
I've noticed it too.
Still on .168
Still on .159 with November security
Get yourself on Huawei forums, under software there's a very large post, join the crowd pressuring them to change their process. Mods have put up "false" updates to try quieten the roar and just made it worse. Infuriating that FF can't work once you're already on pie, don't fancy downgrading and full wipe just for my security patch

They said themselves bi monthly updates for all p m and nova handsets, clearly trying not to get banned from anywhere else and bit off more than they can chew. Any time I've spoken to someone, being able to speak to anyone more senior than first point of contact is impossible (which from experience I'm pretty sure goes against certain rules re: complaints) contemplating a ceo office email with links to all these such posts and their own promises.
Not that it'll make a difference. Just need to vent haha

Who's your provider?
Three UK
I'm with Three. Still on 159, November security patch. Just been on a live chat with them. Nothing resolved but got a £25 credit.
Still on .168 for me as well, showing 1st December security patch.
Last time I buy Huawei as well, I don't mind not getting full updates but not even getting security updates is ridiculous.

Yeah i just wish they would push them out monthly like samsung does instead of making us wait 3-5 months and by that time the update is worthless.

Bi-monthly would do me fine. In a dream world I'd like 9.1 and camera processing parameters from the P30 Pro (I've read it's a little less heavy on the processing) but I doubt we'll ever see that!
Still 1st Dec 18 security for me, unlocked phone from o2 with Voda sim.
Pathetic, it's almost 5 months out of date.
Love the phone but won't buy another Huawei.

My point being the article was written the say after I said I doubt we'll ever see 9.1.
You're right though, probably still months to wait until we see it.
Seems 3 customers are getting .204?
Nothing on O2, EE and Vodafone.............
Asia Pacific is getting monthly security updates so far. I on April security at the moment.

XT1900-1 september security patch

Just received the September security patch for Moto x4 XT 1900-1 retail version.
Thought I might share the news with the good fellas here.
same here on my XT1900-7, it is just strange that it was automatically installed, without my confirmation
Thought it's October now... Isn't that a month late???

Yeah, you are absolutely right! But unfortunately, that's Motorola's way of delivering update. And I'm not even hopeful to get an Android 10 update.

Late is better than never, which is the case for the vast majority of phones many of which are newer than the X4.
Does anyone know if the FI/AndroidOne version for sept. has be released? Can't find in my usual locations.
Noticed on the Lolinet site that the RETUS releases has "PPWS29.69-40-3-1" uploaded on 10/3. Seems like a newer build just going by the naming scheme?
Just got another OTA, for October 1
PPWS29.69-39-6-1

Me too--that was unusually and unexpectedly quick. I wonder if there is a more urgent security fix in there?

I got the update today as well, which came as a surprise. I was wondering the same thing regarding some urgent fix.
Maybe they are trying to appease the masses over not getting Android 10 by providing faster security updates. I feel like they wiggled out of providing the upgrade. Technically speaking from a calendar standpoint, the Android 10 release was within the 2 year OS upgrade path when looking at the release date of the phone. Rant over. Time to look towards custom ROMs.
i just got november, PPWS29.69-36-2. support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/MS145560

Late December update?

Good morning!,
December 8th and still no update to our Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL bought from Google and on Google Fi. Seems some on other carriers have had their updates for days now. Anyone on Google Fi get theirs yet?

I got my Pixel 3 (bought from Google) December update on December 2. Be aware it caused a bootloop for a lot of users - I had to wipe my phone to recover. I recommend removing all Magisk modules, if not removing Magisk entirely before updating. You should be able to reroot after the update.
See this thread for reports of the problem. https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/how-to/guide-patching-boot-img-magisk-canary-t3964359

No worries. I do not have Magisk installed. I heard people were having issues if they installed the Pixel 4 launcher and were using gesture navigation. I have neither. Just surprised I have not received the update yet.

Pixel 3 purchased from Google, on Google Fi, and no update yet. Maybe they're delaying it after the initial problems. One previous monthly update took over a week for me as well, but usually I get them within a day or two.
Google purchase, on T-mo. No update yet either. Not just you.
Is it really that big of a deal??

You will notice that comment came from a Galaxy owner. They expect 3 updates over the life of the phone and are running on at best a 6-month old security level at any point. It doesn't matter to everyone.

Depends on what security updates are included. Also, I'm running the Nova launcher and it would be really nice to have gesture navigation support. One reason I got a Pixel is to get to the front of the line after living with other brands of phones that took many months to get updates. So not a huge deal, but Google has spoiled us with updates every month typically within a day or two of the first Monday.
Third Monday, everybody still in update limbo? Perhaps Google just wants to give X-mas gifts this year, but I'd rather they don't hold the update.
No update love for me as of 12/16/2019 4PM EST. I'm tired of waiting and will likely just sideload the update some time this week.
Still waiting. Obviously something is up.

Agreed, just download the OTA or full image and do it yourself.

You're right. Mostly a lurker and hadn't tried that before but worked like a charm. Thanks for the nudge.
I got it on my Google Fi purchased phone. I was using my VZW sim at the time. That may be why I got it.

Everyday updates for 11

Hi.
Since I updated my Sargo to Android 11, it has minimal updates almost everyday.
I´m not sure if this is fine or something is going wrong.
Anyone having the same issue?

Android 11 came out almost a year ago. Since then, there are several monthly patches, which you are now probably installing one at a time.
Once you reach June 2021 patch, they will stop coming until July.

You can go to Settings / Security and check on which patch you are currently. After every update, check if you are on a newer patch level.
