Netflix (Playstore) on Devices with Unlocked Bootloaders. - General Topics

Hey Guys, after about 16 Hours of doing a few tests after Netflix mysteriously showed up in my Playstore on my Rooted S9, I have concluded that there's a strange interference that has something to do with theming a Device and Netflix's Bootloader check.
Currently I have confirmed it working on 2 devices, a Samsung Galaxy S9 (Exynos) and a Huawei P9. Both of these devices have Magisk 19.4 and Widevine L3. I did not install any magisk modules that could interfere with my tests such as Liboemcrypt Disabler.
Here the Steps I took:
1. Install a theming app that works (On my ROMs the only working theming app is swift installer, so If you own the APP or get it from some dark corner of the interwebs, you can follow my steps 1:1, if you only have a substratum theme that's working for you you can try using it, too, and post your results)
2. Theme every app (YOU NEED TO THEME THE PLAYSTORE AND PLAY SERVICES)
3. Let it reboot your phone so that the themes can work (In the case of Swift Installer, it will ask you to reboot 2 times)
4. Force Close the Playstore and clear all Playstore Data (OPTIONAL: Clear Play Services Cache)
5. Open Playstore and search for Netflix (If it says it's unable to install netflix, revert the Theming and do all steps again)
Regardless if it does or doesn't work for you, please post your device and optionally the Step you got stuck at. In the meantime, I will try to find out what actually causes Netflix to show up after theming your phone.
TESTED AND CONFIRMED DEVICES:
Samsung Galaxy S9 (Exynos) - LOS 15.1 - Magisk 19.4 - Swift Installer
Huawei P9 (AL10) - LOS 15.1 - Magisk 19.4 - Swift Installer

[Guide] EdXposed - Xposed Framework for Android 9 & 10

||| Why this guide? |||
Since the "EdXposed" project doesn't reveice the attention it should get in our device section, I decided to make a quick guide for you how to get a Xposed Framework on your OnePlus 6 running Android 9 and 10! :highfive:
I'm not the developer of EdXposed or Riru, nor in any way related to them. Just an ordinary user, who can confirm that it's working on the latest stock OOS 9.x-x with Magisk >18.1 and OOS 10 with a custom Magisk build (20), though not all available Xposed modules work. The list of known working and non-working apps can be found here (spoiler alert: Greenify (beta) and Xprivacylua (beta) are fully working :good - better check that thread before you complain afterwards
If you're asking yourself now, what EdXposed actually is, here's the description of the developer solohsu:
EdXposed: A Riru module trying to provide a ART hooking framework (initially for Android Pie) which delivers consistent APIs with the OG Xposed, leveraging YAHFA hooking framework.
Click to collapse
But what is Riru?
Riru is a very simple but useful thing. Only requires to replace one system file, it will provide the ability to Riru modules to run their code in apps' or system server's process.
Click to collapse
Got it? :fingers-crossed:
||| Notes |||
EdXposed is still in beta stage. Not all modules work and some bugs might occur, so please, make backups! At least take a full nandroid backup and save your important data (photos, documents, etc.) from your internal memory in a safe place.
Even though you don't need TWRP for the installation and usage of EdXposed, I'd highly recommend to have it in place for two reasons: 1. To take backups and 2. To be able to flash the EdXposed Uninstaller zip in case something went wrong.
On Android 10, SafetyNet does not pass! I'll update this thread as soon as a fix is available! Also, if you upgrade from 9 to 10, make sure to deactivate or uninstall all Magisk and Xposed modules. Some of them might not be support Android 10 right now, activate them one by one (with reboot), after the whole upgrade process is done. For example: "Audio Modification Library" and/or "Audio Compatibility Patch" *work", but make recording of Whatsapp voice messages fail. Be aware that those issues might occur until all modules are updated to support Android 10.
||| Requirements |||
Android 9:
rooted with Magisk >18.x
optional: TWRP (blu_spark TWRP >3.2.3+ highly recommended)
Android 10:
rooted with custom Magisk 20 by soloshu
unlike on pie, TWRP for Android 10 is needed (blu_spark >=v9.107 recommended)
||| Installation |||
Android 9:
It's quite simple, just follow those steps:
(I flashed everything in magisk, since EdXposed and Riru Core are technically magisk modules)
Download the files mentioned in the downloads for Android 9 section on your phone
Have you done your backup(s)? If not, do it now -just in case!
Flash the (latest) Riru Core zip in Magisk or TWRP (magisk-riru-core-vXX.X.zip)
Flash the (latest) EdXposed zip in Magisk or TWRP (magisk-EdXposed-vX.X.X.X_beta-release.zip; YAHFA highly recommended!)
reboot
Install the EdXposed Installer (EdXposedInstaller_vX.X.X-release.apk)
Done!
Open up the EdXposed Installer and check if the Xposed Framework status is active and "green".
Android 10:
If you had EdXposed on your device on Android 9 and now just want to upgrade to 10, you don't have to install Riru Core and EdXposed Manager if the latest versions were already installed.
Download the files mentioned in the downloads for Android 10 section on your phone
Have you done your backup(s)? If not, do it now -just in case!
reboot to TWRP (blu_spark >=v9.107)
Flash the (latest) custom Magisk build by soloshu in TWRP (>= v20.0(20001); Magisk-v20.x.zip)
reboot
Flash the (latest) Riru Core zip in Magisk or TWRP (>= 19.5; magisk-riru-core-vXX.X.zip)
Flash the (latest) EdXposed zip in Magisk or TWRP (>= v0.4.6.0_beta; magisk-EdXposed-vX.X.X.X_beta-release.zip, YAHFA highly recommended!)
reboot
Open Magisk Manager, go to settings->update channel and paste the this custom path: "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/solohsu/magisk_files/master/custom_builds/release.json"
Install the EdXposed Installer (EdXposedInstaller_vX.X.X-release.apk)
Done!
||| Downloads |||
Android 9:
Riru
EdXposed Installer, Uninstaller and flashable zip
(at the date of publishing this thread, the latest Riru version is v17.1, EdXposed is v0.3.1.2_beta)
Android 10:
Riru
EdXposed Installer, flashable zip
Custom Magisk Build
TWRP blu_spark v9.107

Have xposed on pie since last week and running well.
App running is gravitybox 9.0 beta 2
And no problems with safetynet.
Very interesting indeed. Thanks man! Gonna check it out over the weekend.
No problem on oos 9.04
How are some of the root sensitive apps working, like Android Pay? Will we be able to update some sensitive apps like Netflix and Mario Run in the Play Store?
I just came from the Axon 7 where it was either Xposed or passing SafelyNet, but not both. I'm gonna look into this for sure! Thanks!

Take a look at the screenshots I posted. SafetyNet passes! And even better, you can "blacklist" specific apps, which means that they're not touched/hooked in any way. Very useful for banking apps or sensitive apps like password-manager :good:
I'm quite sure that you can use Android Pay, though I can't tell for sure since I don't use it. The Xposed gets hardly detected because it "basically" isn't the "pure" XPosed, but a module of Riru. Simply spoken: Riru is a module of Magisk. And EdXposed is a module of Riru

I totally missed the screenshots the first time around. Awesome! After I get my OTG extra storage and make a new backup (large backup) I'm gonna jump on this!
Do we have a thread for GravityBox P on our OnePlus 6 and all the things working and not working? I would start one but I'm working and technically shouldn't be doing this haha

Don't worry I added them just recently
Not for our device specifically. In fact I made this guide here because most people didn't even know that there's a Xposed solution for Pie . But according to the thread I mentioned, it's reported to work. And since OxygenOS is quite close to vanilla Android, I'd assume it will work flawlessly

I assume that you flashed a custom ROM and that doesn't work well with gravitybox for pie.
i have no gravitybox installed

Any updates?
I like the idea of a non-One UI ROM that comes with samsung's camera and gallery. They just work well. And it's good that basic google apps are included without any play services.
I would like to be able to uninstall these apps though. I don't trust disabling to prevent them from running in the background.

Package Installer not function properly - Android 10

I just updated to android 10 on my oneplus 6 via local storage. Then fastboot installed twrp, flashed stock boot img, flashed twrp installer zip, rebooted to twrp & then installed magisk 20.1 including riru v15 & edxposed by justin (sandhook) for android Q.
The problem I am facing is that I am not able to install apks as whenever I manually try to install an apk, it says 'Sorry, no application available'
Please help out!
Apologies for bumping the thread but can someone help me out with the package installer details?
The path it is stored in the /system/ directory and share the apk? If I somehow could replace it as a system application and make it run?
Hello there, I'm facing the same problem with Android 10 and LineageOS 17.1.
I can install apk's via F-Droid and Aurora Store, I would assume Play Store works too, but I currently don't have it.
When I download an apk with a browser and I click on the notification in the notification drawer, it works and installs the app.
But when I try to open the finished download via the downloader manager, it does not work. The error is the same as posted by the OP (Sorry, no application available)
I also can not open apk's from non-default file explorers (Root Explorer, ES File Explorer) which gives the same error, but opening from built-in Files (com.android.documentsui) works.
The Package Manager is correctly located in
Code:
/system/priv-app/PackageInstaller/PackageInstaller.apk
I've tried the suggestions from a very old thread here on XDA:
- Delete Cache and Data for Package Manager
- Reset all app preferences
- Reboot to TWRP and clean Dalvik/Cache
- Disable all apps that can draw over other apps
But that didn't fix it unfortunately. Any ideas would be welcome.

[APP] [FIX] 100% working Viper4Android for Android 10-11-12 devices

If you are someone like me who encountered countless problems while installing Viper4Android on your Android 10 or 11 device and have no idea what to do then you are in the right place. Just download and install the apk from the attachment below.
You need to be rooted with magisk but you can still give it a try if you don't have magisk on your device.
Steps -
* Disable MusicFX or any other sound mod you are using either from Setting/App Manager/Apps or by installing Ainur Narsil magisk module
* Reboot
* Now remove Ainur Narsil magisk module from magisk and install Audio Modification Library (This is required in case you have leftovers from last sound mod)
* Reboot
* Now download the app from the attachment
* Install and open the apk. The app will ask you to install drivers. HIT OK
* The phone will automatically reboot and install Viper4Android magisk module
* Open the app and check. It should be working by now.
If it doesn't work -
* Install Audio Compatibility Patch magisk module. By now you will have two magisk module installed. (Audio Modification Library and Audio Compatibility Patch)
* Reboot
* Open the app. It should work now
* Still no? - Turn on legacy mode from app setting
* Still no? - Turn on compatibility mode from app setting
V4A should totally work by now
Edit : On one plus phones you need to change your seLinux mode to permissive first and then install viper4android.
Use seLinux Mode Changer for that.
Edit: All files are attached at the bottom of the post
Edit 2 -
If none of the above solution is working for you.
Download Viper4Andrpid app from here
Download latest Magisk 21.4 from here
- Flash magisk from recovery
- Then open the Viper4Andrpid app and it'll ask you to update the drivers (or won't, depending on if you already have the drivers installed)
- If phone reboots then open the app again and turn on legacy mode from options
- If phone doesn't reboot, go to options and turn on legacy mode
It should be working now
Edit 3-
If the above two methods don't work and you have enforcing SELinux, try this.
• Disable MusicFX
• Install magisk 22.1
• Install Ainur Narsil magisk module
• Reboot
• Go to magisk and remove Ainur Narsil magisk module
• Download Viper4Android 2.7.2.1 from here
• Open it. It will ask you to install drivers. Click Ok and the phone will reboot. Don't panic.
• Open Viper4Android. Turn on Legacy mode. You will see the Viper4Android app icon on your status bar.
• Go to magisk. Install Audio Modification Library magisk module.
• Reboot
• Go to magisk again and install Audio Compatibility Patch magisk and select the options mentioned below -
- Patch Audio Policy : Vol- (no)
- Patch method : Vol+ (new logic)
- Remove notification helper : Vol- (no)
- Patch USB policy for USB dacs? : Vol- (no)
- Use lib workaround: Vol- (no)
• Reboot
• Open your music player and play a song to check if Viper4Android works now
• If you have never used V4A before, just turn on Master Limiter and Speaker Optimization
If that fails too -
• Unistall Viper4Android app
• Remove Audio Compatibility patch
• Reboot
• Install Viper4Android app and open it
• Enable Legacy mode from top right
• Play a song from your Music Player and turn on Master Limiter in the Viper4Android app
• Now turn on speaker optimization
If Viper4Android doesn't process in the Youtube app or Spotify, install the Audio Compatibility patch like I mentioned above and reboot
Fix 6:
If none of the methods above works then it's likely you messed up somewhere in the process. Unistall all the modules and Viper4Android.
Download the SeLinuxMode Changer app and set your SELinux to permissive. (If you want that)
App link :
Release v11.0 · MrBIMC/SELinuxModeChanger
updated to the latest libs and tools implemented app shortcuts to quicktoggle between permissive and enforcing modes new icons and notification styles adaptive icons (including shortcuts) for 8.0+ ...

Reboot and go to the top of the post. Follow the very first method.
Fix 7: (May 11, 2022)
I have added Aosp Soundfx remover and V4a fx 2.7.2.1 in the attachment.
Flash Aosp Soundfx remover
Reboot
Turn on mobile data/wifi
Flash v4a fx 2721
Reboot
Open Viper4Android app and install the drivers (if the app is asking you to install)
Reboot
Edit : If you encounter distorted/buggy/laggy audio, clean install viper4android again. But this time keep Ainur Narsil and Audio Modification Library magisk module installed
In OnePlus devices or OxygenOS roms you might need to install the driver twice or thrice.

I did not create the app. I just found a way to get it working in some complicated Android 10 - 12 roms
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!
Edit 69:
If the audio isn't loud enough, go to master limiter, drag that output gain slider to right(6db).
If it's still not loud enough, turn on playback game control, tap on it and customize gain and threshold to your liking.
For others, you can test Wavelet from Wit,its awesome app, same dev.
thank you very much it worked perfectly

In one plus phones you need to change your seLinux mode to permissive first and then install viper4android.

OK, Thanks .

I'm SOOOOOO CLOSE to getting it working. Followed your instructions to the letter, and I get everything looking good in the driver status EXCEPT for PROCESSING. It's still a no and that's with tweaking compatibility and legacy. Any final tips?? Thanks.
Can confirm this works on the OnePlus 8 Pro running Android 11, on the xxx no limits magisk module. Thanks so much.

For some phones you need to change SeLinux to permissive to get V4A to work.
But changing seLinux to permissive is unhealthy for your phone cause it might open backdoor for some apps to take advantage of your root access.
I am updating the app and magisk now. Come back here 30 minutes later and see if the new solution works.
not working on my google pixel 3 xl android 11. installed both Audio patch and still no luck

Play a song in your device music player.
Then open Viper4Android app, Go to that CPU lookalike icon on the top right, it will show you the driver status.
Take a screenshot and share it here.
Don't forget to keep the music player running while taking the screenshot.
Not working on OnePlus 7t Pro on Oxygen OS 11 Beta 2, set selinux to permissive, and followed all steps... Any suggestions?

Have you tried the second apk and magisk?
Is one plus 7t pro and 7 pro similar?
Cause a few days ago I've set up Viper using this method on 7 pro A11 OOS beta.

Just gave it a go, and still no luck
I'm not too sure on the differences between the two devices, though I wouldn't imagine they'd be vast. Once OOS11 comes out of beta I intend on doing a clean install, so perhaps then is the time to give this another shot.

Sorry it didn't work. Does your rom comes with a pre-installed equalizer/sound system like Dolby?
You guys should just flash the magisk viper 2.7.2 module it usually works and if it doesn't flash the other sound mods and audio sound mod lib. I found that trick back in oreo. However the samsung oneui devices are the hardest because they only come with enforcing kernel unless a dev makes a permissive kernel. I prefer 2.3.4 with the super driver but you have to have a permissive kernel on samsung. You also need to have busybox installed in magisk. With android 11 one ui 3.1 on samsung you need to use legacy mode again unless you have a permissive kernel than just busybox and viper 4.4 module installed with 2.3.4 as a user app that's my favorite. Right now I'm stuck on 2.7.2 because no permissive kernel for oneui 3.1 yet
Perfect, thanks for sharing.

[GUIDE] OOS 10.3.8 degoogled, debloated + MigroG

I have successfully degoogled and debloated the latest OOS (atm 10.3.8) and have a working microg setup using nanodroid package. Battery life is nice. 45hrs with 10,5hrs SOT on the first go! Not any unwanted background data moving, success I'd say! So for anyone interested, here are roughly the steps I took.
I couldn't deodex the services.jar with VdexExtractor so I used FakeGapps from Edxposed. Works!
In following guide we will first get a factory state OOS with twrp and root WITHOUT internet. Then we uninstall system app 'android setup', allow internet, get Edxposed working and FakeGapps installed. Then we install Nanodroid package from twrp to get a working microg and setup it and debloat. + Disable trackers using App Manager from F-droid repositories or github. Get it ready for sideloading or use adb. Support the developer!
General guide (everything gets erased):
1. Pure factory installment using MSM tool for 10.3.8 from Oneplus 6 unbrick tools. (XDA forum)
2. The phone starts, go through the initial setup bypassing everything you can. DON'T SETUP ANY WIFI!
3. Immediately switch off mobile data from quick settings, just in case. We dont want android setup to update any apps.
4. Enable unlocking the phone, reboot to bootloader
5. Unlock the bootloader (fastboot oem unlock)
6. Do parts 2 and 3 again (choose Oneplus slate font at this time if you ever want it to work)
7. Enable USB debugging, connect to computer, check 'adb devices' to get the window to allow the computer to appear. (The daemon needs to be running)
This all was to get the phone into pure factory state without automated changes, bootloader unlocked and adb working.
8. Install twrp and magisk. Boot up the phone.
9. Remember! No internet connections yet! Uninstall the system app 'Android Setup'. I used sideloaded AppManager for that. You'll know when you have uninstalled the correct app when the notification of android setup disappears.
10. Reboot
11. Now you can connect to internet.
12. In magisk, install Riru core, (mandatory reboot here!) and Riru Edxposed (2nd reboot)
13. In Edxposed, install FakeGapps and activate it. Reboot.
13. Now you can connect to internet.
This was all done to setup the phone for Nanodroid package and get safely to internet without unwanted updates.
14. Download a nanodroid package from github. I used just the microg version. Flash it from twrp. It should debloat some necessary google stuff, install aurorastore and aurora services and straight up working microg.
15. Check if microg is working and do registrations and enable cloud and location stuff. Reboot.
16. Install any app that uses google cloud service for push notifications and check from microg settings that it shows in the list. Don't continue installing any such apps until it does. Reboot or troubleshoot if necessary with microg related info.
17. Back up current setup from twrp for fallback.
18. Debloat to your heart content, except only disable and force stop the play store. In my case the app is still the official one. Don't use.
19. From AppManager, run disable all trackers, including system apps from 1-click ops.
There! Use some time, and if everything is to your liking, make a backup. Remember to disable trackers from every app you install after you have configured it.
Sidenote: Aurora store did not work when installed systemlessly, but worked fine as a user app
Reserved, just in case
